Ray C. Covert, 76, of Powhatan, died March 25, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn G. Covert; two sons and their wives, Calvin and Margaret Covert, David and Paula Covert, all of Powhatan; one brother, Edward Covert; three sisters, Arlean Bean, Shirley Irish and Virginia Hatch, all of New York; three granddaughters, Wendy Plumb and Tiffani and Erin Covert; and one great-granddaughter, Monica. Elizabeth "Ann" Cox, 71, of Chesterfield, departed this life Sunday, March 24, 2002. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Justin Sutterfield. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Russell K. Cox; children, Rebecca "Becky" Sutterfield and her husband, Tom, Russell K. "Bud" Cox Jr., and his wife, Tammie and Richard K. "Dick" Cox and his wife, Patti; a sister-in-law, Odette Adkins of Hampton, Va.; grandchildren, Ricky and Klare Cox, John and Joey Shelton, Stacy Sutterfield and Megan and Chase Cox; an aunt, Doris Stinnette; and several nephews and cousins. Mrs. Cox was an extremely devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She had been a substitute teacher in Chesterfield County and was very active in the PTA and athletic programs. She was also a volunteer at Chippenham Hospital. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Road, where the family will receive friends Wednesday 6 to 8 p.m. and where funeral services will be held Thursday 12:30 p.m. Interment Virginia Veteran's Cemetery in Amelia, Va. Johnson was a member of the Martinsville Exchange Club, where he was past President, and former board member of the American Cancer Society, Martinsville Chapter.
