NORTON -- Elmer T. Colley, 85, died Friday, Jan. 2, 1998, in Norton Community Hospital.
He was a native of Dickenson County and made his home in Norton.
He was owner//operator of Wise Music Company for 60 years and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Emily Colley; and one daughter, Elizabeth Smothers, Louisville, Ky.

Holger Ekebom
KINGSPORT -- Holger Ekebom, 88, of the Indian Springs Community, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 1997, in Holston Valley Medical Center.
He was a former resident of Rockford, Ill., and Denver, and had lived in the Kingsport area for the past 21 years.
He was a retired salesman for American Furniture and was employed part-time with Smokers Inn and Sidetrack Tobacco, Bristol, and The Pipe Stem, Kingsport.
He was a member of State Street United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Norma C. Ekebom; two daughters, Donna Devault Hensley, Kingsport, and Debra L. Devault, Thornton, Colo.; one sister, Hildur Berzelius, Largo, Fla.; one grandson; and one niece.

Hattie L. Hilton
TEXARKANA, Ark. -- Hattie L. Hilton, 93, formerly of Bristol, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 1997, in Texarkana.
She was a member of First Baptist Church and the widow of William Rhea Hilton.
Survivors include one daughter, Dorothy Morgan, Texarkana; one son, James L. Hilton, Hendersonville, N.C.; two sisters, Georgia Skeen, Big Stone Gap, and Agnes Anderson, Plant City, Fla.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Edna M. Jones
ROGERSVILLE -- Edna Mae Jones, 79, died Jan. 2, 1997, in Hawkins County Memorial Hospital.
She was a member of Cave Springs Missionary Baptist Church and the widow of Steve Jones.
Survivors include three children, H. Monnie Jones, Bristol, Tennessee, Ronald D. Jones, Rogersville, and Carolyn Townsend, Lenoir, N.C.; two sisters, Chassie Linkous, Rogersville, and Mary Magdalene Trent, Chilhowie; one brother, Wiley Linkous, Rogersville; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services and burial will be held Sunday in Rogersville.

Kenneth G. Knouse
GARNETT, Kan. -- Kenneth Gardiner Knouse, 94, died Wednesday, Dec. 3l, 1997, in Anderson County Hospital, Garnett.
He was a native of Shawnee, Okla., and was a soil conservationist with the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Eliza Knouse.
Survivors include one son, Phil Knouse, Bristol, Tennessee; one brother, Allison Knouse, California; one sister, Joyce Weese, New Mexico; and two granddaughters, Kathryn Ramp, Hampton, Ill., and Linda Batten, Normal, Ill.
Funeral services and interment will be held Saturday in Garnett, where Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapels, Inc. is in charge.
Virgil W. McClanahan
ABINGDON -- Virgil Wire McClanahan, 76, died Friday, Jan. 2, 1998, in Johnston Memorial Hospital.
He was a native of Buchanan County and had lived in Abingdon since 1981.
He was owner//operator of Riverside Texaco, Harman, Va., for 28 years before retiring to Abingdon.
He was a member of
Green Spring Presbyterian Church and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Pauline C. McClanahan; two brothers, Kyle E. McClanahan and Gerald W. McClanahan, both of Grundy; two sisters, Jessie M. Hunt, Grundy, and Evelyn M. Bunn, Bristol, Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.

James R. Mink
NEW RICHMOND, W.Va. -- James R. "Jim Bob" Mink, 66, died Thursday, Jan. 1, 1998, in a Beckley hospital.
He was a native of Tuckerdale, N.C., a lifelong resident of Wyoming County and was owner//operator of Jim's Used Cars.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte Mink.
Survivors include one daughter, Ruby Poff, New Richmond; two sons, Charles Mink and James R. "Jimmy" Mink, both of New Richmond; two brothers, Ernest Mink, Bristol, Tennessee, and Gene Mink, Glade Spring; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

James R. Nuckolls
GRUNDY -- James R. Nuckolls, 56, died Thursday, Jan. 1, 1997, in Buchanan General Hospital.
He was a native of West Virginia, had lived in Buchanan County several years and was a member of Grundy Church of Christ.
He was a graduate of Grundy High School, attended East Tennessee State University and was a graduate of diesel mechanic school, Nashville.
He was produce manager for Friendly Market, Grundy.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Marlene Pugh Nuckolls; one son, David Wayne Nuckolls, Galax; his father, B.M. "Cub" Nuckolls, Galax; two sisters, Mrs. Marsha Sweet, Galax, and Mrs. Frances Keith, Fredericksburg; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Edwen Pass
HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. -- Mrs. Edwen Pass, 90, formerly of Buchanan County, died Thursday, Jan. 1, 1998, in Gallatin, Tenn.
She was a native of Fleming, Ky., had lived in Buchanan County several years, and was a member of Little Prater Church of Christ.
She was a homemaker and the widow of Noah Pass.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Arthur (Opal) Vanover, Grundy, Mrs. Luther (Raymona) Stacy, Nashville, and Mrs. J.C. (Brenda) Owens, Hendersonville; two sons, Charles (Bill) Pass, Dickerson, Tenn., and Bob Pass, Abingdon; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Albert R. Russell
MARION -- The Rev. Albert Richard "Poss" Russell, 87, of Matson Drive, died Friday, Jan. 2, 1998, in Francis Marion Manor.
He was a native of Smyth County and had lived in the Cokeysville, Md., area for several years.
He was ordained as a Holiness Minister in North Carolina and preached for over 30 years.
He was employed with several rock quarries in Southwest Virginia and Maryland, and at Brunswick, in the lumber yard.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen Hamby Russell.
Survivors include five nieces, Virginia Romans, Mabel Young and Peggy Sheffield, all of Marion, Mary Clark, Petersburg, Va., and Louise Lloyd, Roanoke; two nephews, William Thomas Russell, Marion, and Johnny Lee Russell, Chilhowie; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
