COATES - Norman Ernest, born in Colchester of a military family on June 22, 1924. Joined the Royal Corps of Signals in 1941 and volunteered for special duties. Served in Burma as a Chindit and was subsequently commissioned for action in the field. He died with courage and fortitude in Sedgefield Community Hospital on September 18 and is remembered with love and regards by his family and friends. Many thanks for the kindness and attention received from his many nurses and carers. Funeral service to take place at Durham Crematorium on Thursday, September 27 at 12.00 noon. No flowers by request. Any donations in lieu to the Great North Air Ambulance.
