Donations in lieu may be given after the service for Ward 6, U.H.N.D.

DARKINGS - On October 8, peacefully in hospital, of Sacriston. Gladys, aged 86 years, beloved wife of the late James, a much missed mother of John and the late Keith. Friends please meet for service at Durham Crematorium on Monday, October 15 at 3.00 p.m.

DIXON - (Bowburn) In hospital on October 4. Eileen, aged 76 years. Devoted wife of the late Arthur, much loved mam of Ann, George, Kenny, June, Kath, Sharon and partners, also a treasured nana and great-nana. Funeral to take place on Wednesday October 10. Friends please meet for service at Bowburn Methodist Chapel at 10.30 a.m. followed by interment in South Road Cemetery.

DIXON - Eileen A kind and caring sister-in-law who will be sadly missed. Sleep peacefully dear Eileen. God Bless. All our love Betty and family. x Loving sister-in-law. Will always be remembered. Lily, Pat, Mike and family.

DUFFY - October 7, in hospital. Elizabeth (Betty), aged 79 years, of Holgate Moor Green, Darlington. A beloved wife of the late Leslie, a much loved mam of Christine, Susan and Moira, a loving mother-in-law of Dave, Tony and Gordon, also a devoted grandma of Neil, Melissa, Joe, Lucy, Zoe, Richard and Charlotte. DUNGAY - Dorothy, passed away peacefully on October 8. Very much loved and missed by her family and friends. Funeral service Thursday, October 18 at St. Thomas' Parish Church, Brompton at 1.45 p.m. followed by cremation at Darlington Crematorium 2.45 p.m. All enquiries to Wilson Willoughby and Wetherills, 223 High Street, Northallerton. Jean, aged 80 years, dearly beloved wife of the late Tom, much loved mam of Marjorie, David and Janet, mother-in-law and friend of Trevor and Christine, loving gran of Martin, Steven, Philip, Stephanie and Lynsey, special friend of Claire, Julie and Richard, devoted great-gran of Alexander and James. Friends please meet for service at St. Luke's Church, Ferryhill on Monday, October 15 at 9.15 a.m., followed by cremation at Durham Crematorium, 10.00 a.m. By request of Jean, family flowers only. Donations in lieu if so desired, may be sent to the Butterwick Hospice or left in a sealed envelope in the church.

Alan, aged 57 years, dearly loved husband of Annette, a dearest Pops to Eileen, Joe, Maria and the late Alan Peter, a beloved granda, also a much loved brother. Interment Wednesday, October 17 in Shildon Cemetery. Cortege leaving residence at 1.30 p.m. for a service in St. John's Church, Shildon at 1.45 p.m. Friends please meet at church.

Robert, aged 86 years, loving husband of Isobelle (nee Farrer) and the late Mary, beloved father of Mary, Edward and Jill, step-father of Jim, Mary, Bette, Jean, Margaret and the late Tony, also a loving granda and great-granda. Funeral service to take place on Wednesday, October 10. Friends please meet at Thornley Methodist Chapel at 1.00 p.m., followed by a second service and cremation at Stranton Grange Crematorium, Hartlepool at 2.00 p.m. Family flowers only please. HOLDSWORTH - Margaret Christine (Chris), formerly Milone (nee Matheson), of Mulgrave Cottage, Sandsend, died peacefully after a long illness on Sunday, October 7, 2007. Chris was much loved by her husband David, daughter Sofia and by Helen and James, her sister and brother. The funeral will be held on Tuesday, October 16 in St. Mary's Church, Whitby at 12.45 p.m., followed by a private cremation in Scarborough. Chris definitely wanted to have a happy funeral, so please do not wear black. The family extend heartfelt thanks to the staff of Whitby Hospital and to the James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough.
