SYERS - December 22, after a long illness bravely borne, died peacefully at home in Thornton Watlass. David, aged 68 years, much loved husband of Dorothy, loving dad of Colin, Alan and Graham and father-in-law of Sandra, Debra and Sarah, also loving grandad of Richard, Rachel, Emma and Rebecca. Funeral service and interment to be held at St. Mary's Church, Thornton Watlass on Friday, December 29 at 2.00 p.m. Family flowers only. Donations, if desired, may be given to St. Mary's Church and Marie Curie Cancer Care.


THOMPSON - December 25, (in hospital), of Darlington. William Russell (Bill), aged 86 years. Will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Funeral Wednesday, January 3. Service at Darlington Crematorium at 2.15 p.m. Family flowers only. Donations may be sent for, The Great North Air Ambulance Services, c/o, Seaton Leng and Son Ltd., Bondgate, Darlington. DL3 7JR.


TINKLER - December 26 (peacefully in hospital), of Byers Green. Doris (nee Bennett), aged 60 years, a dearly loved wife of Ronald, a loving mam of Andrew and Mark, a dear mother-in-law and a much loved grandma, sister, auntie and a friend of many. Would friends please meet in St. Peter's Church, Byers Green, Thursday for a service at 2.45 p.m., followed by committal at Durham Crematorium.


WHITTAM - On December 23, in hospital. Joan, aged 75 years, of Hurworth, dearly beloved wife of the late Ken, a dear sister to Jackie and will be sadly missed by family and friends. Funeral Thursday, January 4. Would friends please meet for service in Hurworth Methodist Church at 10.45 a.m., prior to cremation. Family flowers only please. Donations in lieu, if so desired, to charities chosen by Joan.


YOUDS - December 26 (peace fully), in Springfield Care Home, Darlington, (formerly of Gainford). Lilian, aged 86 years. Dearly beloved wife of the late Harry, much loved mam of Anne and the late John, cherished nanna of Helen, loving great-nanna to Shane, Beckyleigh, Aaron and the late Rebecca Anne, also a dear mother-in-law to Alan and nan-in-law to Gary. Funeral Wednesday January 3. Would friends please meet 2.45 p.m. for service at Darlington Crematorium.


ZAK - December 23, of Deneside, Spennymoor. Fred, aged 90 years, a loving father of Martin, dearly loved father-in-law, a much loved grandad and a dear friend of Brenda and Billy. Would friends please meet in St. Charles' R.C. Church, Tudhoe Village, Wednesday for a service at 1.30 p.m. followed by interment in York Hill Cemetery.


AINSCOUGH - December 5, in The Chimneys Sherburn Hill, formerly of Shotton. Robert Berry (Bob), aged 85 years, beloved husband of the late Ruth, much loved dad of Joyce and son-in-law John and a proud grandfather of Nicola and Andrea. Flight Lieutenant Bomber Command, also Sherburn Hill Co-op, Shotton and Easington Colliery and North Eastern Co-op, Durham and The Disco, Sunder-land. Would friends please meet for service at St. Saviour's Church, Shotton on Wednesday, December 13 at 1.30 p.m., followed by cremation at Durham Crematorium.


ALDERSON - On December 10, (peacefully at Darlington Memorial Hospital), of Brookside, Muker. Mary Ann, aged 96 years. Dearly loved daughter of the late John William and Elizabeth Ann Alderson, much loved sister of the late Miles William, loving companion of the late Les Ellis and dear auntie of Margaret, Marcus and Carl. Funeral service to be held at St. Mary's Church, Muker on Wednesday December 20, at 1.30 p.m. followed by private cremation. Family flowers only please, however donations in lieu if so desired may be given at the service for St. Mary's Church. Will friends please meet at the church and accept this intimation.


ANGUS - May (nee Spence) Peacefully in hospital on December 8, aged 84 years, beloved wife of the late Alec, dearly loved mam of Brian and Bob, dear mother-in-law of Judy and Jan and devoted nana of Neil, Jonathan, Kyle, Abbie and Lewis. Funeral service to be held in Yarm Parish Church on Friday, December 15 at 11.15 a.m., prior to cremation. Family flowers only. Donations in church for Church Funds.

Beloved wife of Bob, adored and loving mam of Pearl, Bobby and Alan, a loving mother-in-law of Peter, Anne and Denise, a much loved gran to Coral and John, Darren and Linda, Emma and Mark, Gary and Claire and Charmayne, great-gran to David, Daniel, Lucy, Alice, Hannah and great-great-gran to Layton and a dearly loved sister, sister-in-law and aunt. Joyce (nee Malpas), of Gilesgate, beloved wife of the late Teddy, loving mam of Lynn and Susan, a proud nana of Opal, Bailey and Finn, mother-in-law of Eddie and Paul and sister of Bibby, Sandy and the late Pamela. Friends please meet for service at Durham Crematorium on Thursday, December 14 at 11.00 a.m.


ARMSTRONG - Noel, aged 66 years of Manor Grove, Cockfield, died suddenly at home December 11. Dearly loved fiancé of Mary, much loved dad of Cassie and Dean, loving son of Mina and the late Abel and a dear brother and uncle. Funeral service at Darlington Crematorium on Tuesday December 19 at 10.45 a.m. Friends please meet at the Crematorium Chapel. No flowers please at Noel's own request, if desired donations may be given on the plate provided at the Crematorium Chapel for The Great North Air Ambulance.


ASPINALL - December 13 (peacefully in hospital), of St. Pauls Gardens, Spennymoor. Margaret (nee Haley), aged 83 years, beloved wife of the late Jimmy, a dearly loved mam of Robert and Christine, David and Jill, a much loved gran of Shaun, Hayley, Sarah and Helen and a dear sister of Francis. Would friends please meet in Trinity Methodist Church, Rosa Street, Spennymoor Wednesday for a service at 12.15 p.m., followed by committal at Durham Crematorium.


BARRIGAN - December 12, of Cypress Park, Esh Winning. Margaret (Peggy), aged 84 years. Beloved wife of the late John, loving mother of Trevor, mother-in-law of Lorraine and a dear grandma of Katy and Mark and will be sadly missed by all her family. Friends please meet for service and cremation at Durham Crematorium on Saturday December 16, at 9.30 a.m. Friends welcome for refreshments in Woodland Road Community Centre afterwards.


BATTENSBY - December 8. Jean, aged 77 years. Richard and Rosemary wish to thank all the staff of Binchester Ward, Auckland Park Hospital for the excellent treatment, compassionate care and support Jean received throughout her long stay. Thanks also to Rev'd. Bill Tate and Mark Gibson of Gibson's Funeral Services for their sympathy, kindness and efficiency.


BELLAMY - December 12, (peacefully) in Crosshill Nursing Home, Stanhope. Charles Gordon, aged 84 years. Dearly loved husband of Amy, a much loved father of Judith and John and a dear father-in-law of Kenneth and Karen, also a dearest grandad of Lee and Ryan. Cremation Tuesday December 19, at Durham, following a service in The Crematorium Chapel at 3.00 p.m. Family and friends please meet at the crematorium.
