Dearly beloved and treasured husband of Helen, loving brother of Alan, much loved father of Mark and Ian, dear father-in-law of Marg, devoted grandad of Hannah and Ben, also a caring son-in-law, brother-in-law and uncle. Former Head Teacher of Ormesby Comprehensive School, Provincial Grand Master of the Province of Durham and former Chairman of Cleveland International Eisteddfod. Service in St. Barnabas' Church, St. Barnabas Road, Linthorpe, Middlesbrough, TS5 6JR, on Saturday, March 8 at 9.15 a.m., prior to private cremation. Enquiries and floral tributes to Crake and Mallon Funeral Service, 45 Norton Road, Stockton-on-Tees. Tel. (01642) 611716. Donations in lieu, if desired, may be sent to Cancer Research U.K. or the Holistic Cancer Care Centre, James Cook University Hospital, Marton Road, Middlesbrough.


RILEY - February 27, in Barrington Lodge, Bishop Auckland, formerly of Crook. Mary, aged 94 years, beloved wife of the late Sydney, loving sister-in-law, also a dear aunt. Will friends please meet for service in St. Catherine's Church, Crook at 2.15 p.m. on Friday, March 7, followed by interment in Crook Cemetery.


ROBINSON - Stan (Granda) God saw that he was getting tired and the cure was not to be, so He put his arms around him and whispered "Come with me". With tearful eyes we watched him suffer and saw him fade away. Although we loved him dearly, we could not make him stay. Goodnight Granda, all our love, from Vicky, Robert and Olivia.


ROBINSON - Stan, a dear dad and grandad. Always in our thoughts, always in our hearts. Love Geoff, Louise, Connor and Lily.


ROBINSON - March 2 (suddenly at home), of Lyne Road, Middlestone Moor. Stan, aged 78 years, beloved husband of Rita, a dearly loved dad and father-in-law and a much loved granda, great-granda and a dear brother. Would friends please meet in St. Paul's Church, Monday for a service at 9.40 a.m., followed by committal at Durham Crematorium.


RONSON - (Bowburn) Peacefully on February 25. James (Jimmy), aged 79 years, much loved father, father-in-law, grandfather and sadly missed by all family and friends. Funeral to take place on Wednesday, March 5. Friends please meet for service and cremation at Durham Crematorium at 10.00 a.m.


ROSE - George, aged 78 years on February 29, peacefully at home in Stoke-on- Trent, formerly of Trimdon Grange, a loving dad, grandad and great-grandad also a dear brother of Derek and the late Rita and Ralph. R.I.P

Michael, aged 36 years, much loved dad of Arron, Dylan and Shelby, devoted son of Sonia and David, a beloved grandson, also a treasured brother, brother-in-law and uncle. Cortege to leave his parents' home on Tuesday, March 11 at 12.50 p.m. for service in St. Andrew's Church, Bishop Auckland at 1.00 p.m., followed by interment in Coundon Cemetery. Will friends please meet at church.

Funeral service Friday at Cassop Methodist Church at 10.30 a.m., prior to interment at Quarrington Hill Churchyard. Friends please meet at church.


SHAW - Ethel May (Jane) On February 28, peacefully at home. Jane, aged 88 years, wife of the late George, dearly loved mother of Susan, Arthur and John, much loved mother-in-law of Mike, Paula and Venetia, gran and great-grandmother. Friends please meet for service at St. Andrew's Church, Haughton on Monday, March 10 at 10.15 a.m., followed by cremation. Family flowers only. Donations in lieu to Darlington Talking Newspaper, c/o Seaton Leng and Son Ltd., Bondgate, Darlington, DL3 7JR.


SOWERBY - Peacefully in St. Cuthbert's Hospice, on March 2, of Finchale Abbey Village (formerly of Sunderland). Nora Ebdon, aged 69 years, beloved wife of the late Derek, dearly loved mother of Lynda, Darren and Deborah, mother-in-law of Billy, Joy and John and a loving nana to Daniel, Kate, Natalie, Rebekah, Rachael and Harry. Friends please meet for service in St. Oswald's Church, Durham on Thursday, March 6 at 10.30 a.m., followed by cremation at Durham. Friends welcome for refreshments at the Newton Grange afterwards. Donations in lieu of flowers, if desired, may be given after the service for St. Cuthbert's Hospice.


SPENCER - March 4, peacefully at Whorlton Grange Care Home. Stan, aged 93 years, formerly of Low Startforth Road, Startforth. Dearly loved husband of the late Melvie, dearest dad of Val, Jill and Jack, father-in-law, beloved grandda and great-grandda, much loved brother of the late Tommy and Millie - a Teesdale character. Would friends please meet for funeral service at Holy Trinity Church, Startforth on Thursday, March 13 at 11.30 a.m., followed by interment at Barnard Castle. Donations, if desired, may be given in church to Church Funds and the Campaign for the Protection of Rural England.


STIRK - Barbara (nee Ward), aged 61 years, of Staindrop, died peacefully in hospital on March 1. Much loved mam of Julie, loving gran to Laura and a dear sister-in-law. Funeral service at St. Mary's Church, Staindrop on Thursday, March 6 at 1.30 p.m., followed by interment in the cemetery. Friends please meet at the church. STUART - Sidney (Sid), of Scorton, died peacefully on March 1 aged 80 years. Funeral service at Darlington Crematorium on Tuesday March 11 at 11.15 a.m. Friends please meet at the Crematorium Chapel.

Charlie, aged 75 years, a dearly loved husband of Ethel, loving dad of Ursula and Ian also dear grandad of Sara, Alexander, Charlie and Billy. Friends please meet for service at Durham Crematorium on Friday, March 7 at 2.30 p.m.


WEATHERBURN - March 1, peacefully at home, of Darlington. Robert (Bob), aged 83 years, dearly loved husband of the late Phyllis, much loved dad of Robert, dear father-in-law of Linda, loving grandad of Claire and Kelly and great-grandad of Alisha, Logan and Bailey, a much loved brother, brother-in-law and uncle who will be sadly missed by all. Catherine, aged 87 years, beloved wife of the late Josiah, much loved mother of Joan and a dear gran to Ivan, Anna and their families. Friends please meet for service in Ushaw Moor Baptist Church on Thursday, March 6 at 12.45 p.m., followed by cremation at Durham. Friends welcome for refreshments in the Schoolroom afterwards. Donations in lieu of flowers may be given after the service for the Stroke Association.


WILLIAMSON - On March 1, peacefully in hospital, of 15 Laurel Avenue, Sherburn Road. Ken, aged 76 years, beloved husband of Ann, dear dad to Paul, Mary, Dot and the late Sue and also grandad, great-grandad and brother to Alan. Friends please meet for service at St. Giles' Church, Gilesgate on Thursday, March 6 at 1.30 p.m., followed by cremation at Durham Crematorium. Bus provided from residence.
