GRAY - January 7, peacefully in hospital, of Blackwell, Darlington. Norman Gardner, in his 90th year, beloved husband of the late Mary, dearly loved father of Peter, Bob and Pam and a much loved grandfather of Charlotte, Ben, Michael and Lauren. Funeral Thursday, January 17. Friends please meet for service in All Saints' Church, Blackwell at 10.00 a.m., followed by private crem ation.


GRIFFITHS - January 3, suddenly at home, of Heighington. Ivor Edward, aged 74 years, dearly loved husband of Jennifer, much loved father of Mary, dear father-in-law of Kevin, loving grandpa of Honor, Reid, D'Arcy and Lilian and brother of Jean. Would friends please meet for Service of Thanksgiving in St. Michael's Church, Heighington on Friday, January 11 at 11.30 a.m. Family flowers only please. Donations if desired may be sent for North East Ambulance Service (Paramedics) or St. Michael's Church, Heighington (Clock Restoration Fund) c/o Seaton Leng and Son Ltd., Bondgate, Darlington DL3 7JR.


GUNN - (Chester-le-Street) On January 5, suddenly in hospital. Catherine (Kat), aged 21 years, darling daughter of Malcolm and Pearl, devoted mam of Josh, loving sister of Mark and a very dear granddaughter, niece and cousin. Resting at the Co-operative Funeral Chapel of Rest, 1 Newcastle Road, Chester-le-Street from Friday, telephone (0191) 3871212. The funeral service will be held at Durham Crematorium on Tuesday, January 15 at 2.00 p.m. Flowers, or donations if desired, to the Cystic Fibrosis Trust for Gene Therapy. Everyone welcome for refreshment after the service at Mount Oswald Manor, South Road, Durham. You can remember her and only that she is gone or you can cherish her memory and let it live on.


HARDY - January 6, peacefully in hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Kathleen, aged 54 years, a much loved wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandma, daughter and sister. Funeral Wednesday, January 16. Friends please meet for service at Darlington Crematorium at 3.45 p.m.


HARRISON - January 6, (peacefully, after a long illness), of Market Crescent, Wingate. Mary, (nee Spellman), aged 69 years. Beloved wife of the late Norman, a loving mother of Catherine and John, mother-in-law of Keith and Nichola and a much loved grandma and great-grandma, also a loving sister, aunt and great-aunt. Interment Friday January 11, at Hutton House Cemetery. Friends please accept this intimation and meet for Requiem Mass at St. Peter and St. Paul R.C. HEWITSON - Henry On December 26, peacefully in hospital after an illness bravely borne. Henry, aged 81 years, of Walworth, dearly beloved husband of Connie, dear brother-in-law, uncle and friend. A private cremation service will take place on Wednesday, January 9, followed by a Service of Thanksgiving at St. Michael's Church, Heighington at 2.00 p.m. A donation plate will be in church for offerings to The British Legion and St. Michael's Church.


HINTON - January 5, of Fife Road, Darlington. Irene, aged 60 years, beloved wife of Garry, dearly loved mother of Louise and Alison and fantastic grandma to Lucy and William. Sadly missed but happily remembered. Funeral Thursday, January 17. All friends are welcome to attend the service at Darlington Crematorium at 11.45 a.m. No flowers please. Donations may be sent for St. Teresa's Hospice, The Woodlands, 91 Woodland Road, Darlington DL3 7UA.


HOLLIDAY - Sheila (nee Kirk), aged 62 years, of Colburn, peacefully in hospital on January 7. Dearly loved wife of Brian and a much loved mum, sister, nana, aunty and friend. Funeral service at St. John's Church, Hipswell on Tuesday, January 15 at 11.00 a.m., followed by burial in the Cemetery. Friends please meet at the Church.


HOLLINGWORTH - John, brother-in-law of Kate and Paul and uncle of Andrea, Kirsty and family. Will be remembered with affection and will be sadly missed by Graeme, Alison and family and Helen, Nige and family.


HOPE - December 30, peacefully in hospital, borne with great courage and dignity, of Edge Court, Gilesgate. Florence Eva (Florrie), aged 84 years, beloved wife of the late William Bradley Hope, a loving mam to Margaret and Kathleen, a much loved mother-in-law of Sid and Gordon and a dear gran and great-gran to all the family. Friends please meet for service at St. Giles' Church, Gilesgate on Thursday, January 10 at 1.30 p.m., prior to cremation at Durham Crematorium. Family flowers only please.


HOPKINSON - January 6, of Kirk Merrington. Fred, aged 89 years. Would friends please meet at Durham Crematorium, Monday for a service and committal at 9.30 a.m.


HUNTER - Peter W.M., died suddenly on January 1 aged 71 years, dearly loved husband of Anne, dad of Elizabeth, Kathryn and Richard and a devoted grandpa. Funeral at St. James the Great, Manston, Leeds Thursday January 17 at 12.30 p.m. Family flowers only please. Donations, if desired, to the British Heart Foundation.


HUSBAND - On January 6. Carol, of Stonehaven Way, Darlington who died peacefully at home, a much loved wife of Cyril, mother of Paul and David grandma of Elliott and Sean, also sister of Joyce and John. HUTCHINSON - Amy (nee Tonkiss) Wife of the late Harold Mark. Died January 7, in New Zealand, aged 93 years. Will be missed.


JACOBS - January 7, of Newton Aycliffe. Maureen, aged 59 years (nee Hughes), of Bishop Auckland, devoted mam of Stephen, Andrew and Jane, a much loved and loving grandma, treasured sister, sister-in-law, also a dear aunt, cousin and good friend. Will friends please meet for service in St. Elizabeth's Church, Woodham at 2.30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 16, followed by cremation at Durham. Family flowers only. Donations may, if desired, be left in church for Church Funds.


JACOBS - Maureen (nee Hughes), died January 7, 2008, aged 59 years. A dearly loved and loving sister to Joyce, Lily and Liz, dear sister-in-law to Brian, Charlie and Alan, also a loving aunt, great-aunt, cousin and friend to all. Rest in Peace

KAY - January 6, (peacefully, in her sleep at her son's residence at Darlington). Formerly of St. Pauls Gardens, Spennymoor. Alice, aged 86 years. A much loved mother, gran and auntie and a dear friend to many all over the world. Would friends please meet in St. Paul's Church, Spennymoor on Tuesday, January 15, for a service at 11.10 a.m. followed by committal at Durham Crematorium. Family flowers only please. LAWS - January 8, (suddenly), in Barrington Lodge Care Home, Bishop Auckland, (formerly of Low Row, and Gilling West). Irene, aged 96 years. Beloved wife of the late William, dearly loved mum of Dorothy, Ronnie, Derrick and Reg, also a much loved gran, great-gran and great-great-gran. Funeral private.


LAYTON - On January 2, in hospital of East Clere, Langley Park. Sarah, aged 80 years, dearly loved wife of the late Gerard, loving mam of Margaret, mother-in-law to Len, dear grandma to Claire and Richard and great-grandma to Laura, Lily and Eva. Friends please meet for Requiem Mass at St. Joseph's R.C. Church, Langley Park on Friday, January 11 at 1.00 p.m. Cremation to follow. All welcome afterwards to The Traveller's Rest, Witton Gilbert.
