STAPLETON - Mary Elizabeth (Betty), aged 82 years, of Eppleby, died peacefully in hospital on December 30. Dearly loved wife of Harry, much loved mum of Ann and Sheila, loving gran to Daniel, Jack, Katie and the late Jennifer and great-gran to Chelsea-Jennifer. Funeral service at St. Cuthbert's Church, Forcett on Thursday, January 10 at 1.15 p.m., followed by committal at Darlington Crematorium. Friends please meet at the church. Family flowers only please, if desired, donations may be given on the plate provided in the church for Eppleby School and St. Cuthbert's Church, Forcett.

THOMAS - On December 29, peacefully at Willowdene Care Home, Sedgefield. Edna, aged 87 years, formerly of Trimdon Village. Dearly loved wife of the late Alfred, loving mother of Freda, June and Edna, dear mother-in-law of John, Tom and the late Alan, also a devoted grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. Funeral service Tuesday, January 8 at St. Mary Magdalene Church, Trimdon Village 11.00 a.m., prior to cremation at Durham. Family flowers only please.

THOMPSON - (nee Adams) On December 28, of Bishop Auckland (formerly of Durham). Isabel, aged 68 years, beloved wife of the late Hughie, loving mam of Gillian and Ian, mother-in-law of Ian and Joanne and also a much loved grandma of Emma, Benjamin, Oliver and Edward. Service at St. Mary's R.C. Church, Vart Road, Bishop Auckland on Monday, January 7 at 1.00 p.m., prior to cremation at Durham Crematorium. Family flowers only by request. Donations in lieu if so desired may be made to Cancer Research, c/o Lloyds Bank, Skinnergate, Darlington. DL3 7ND.

THORNHILL - John Trevor, aged 63 years, of Richmond, died peacefully at the Friary Hospital on December 24, after an illness borne with great courage and dignity. Loving brother to Doreen and Sheila and a dear brother-in-law, uncle and great-uncle. Funeral service at St. Mary's Church, Richmond on Thursday, January 3 at 1.30 p.m., followed by interment in the cemetery. Friends please meet at the church. TUBB - December 27, peacefully in hospital, of Ferens Close, The Sands, Durham. Lucy, aged 76 years, beloved wife of Arthur, a devoted mother of Linsey, grandmother of Faith and great-grandmother of Tynan, formerly early childhood education Tutor of St. Hild's and Durham University. Friends please meet for service at the College Chapel of St. Hild and St. Bede on Monday, January 7 at 3.00 p.m., cremation to follow at Durham Crematorium.

TURNER - Who died peacefully after a long illness in Oaklodge Care Home, Darlington on December 26. Edith, aged 86 years, late of Newton Aycliffe. A dearly loved wife of the late Hal, a much loved mam of Joy, Shaun and Mike, also a treasured nana of Alison, Ian, Daniel and Darryl. Funeral Tuesday January 8. Would friends please meet 2.45 p.m. for service at St. Clare's Church, Newton Aycliffe, prior to cremation at Darlington.

WALKER - December 19 (peacefully in hospital), of Thornton-le-Street, Thirsk. Hilda, aged 83 years, wife of Frank and mother of Richard. The funeral service will be held at St. Leonard's Church, Thornton-le-Street on Thursday, January 3 at 2.00 p.m., followed by private cremation. Family flowers only please. Donations in memory may be made to Yorkshire Cancer Research.

WALTON - Cephas, aged 90 years of Newton Aycliffe, passed away in Darlington Memorial Hospital, loving husband of the late Eleanor, a much loved father of Eleanor and Peter, father-in-law to Jim and Madeleine also a dearly loved grandad to Gail, Jill, Matthew and Ruth. A private cremation took place yesterday.

WATSON - John December 28, peacefully in hospital, aged 81 years, of Middleton St. George. He will be sadly missed by all of his family and friends. Funeral Monday, January 14. Friends please meet for service in Darlington Crematorium at 10.45 a.m. Flowers, or donations if preferred, for The Dogs Trust, may be sent c/o Seaton Leng and Son Ltd., Bondgate, Darlington DL3 7JR.

Harry, aged 60 years, of Sedgefield, a much loved father of Stephen and Maria, a beloved son of Elsie, grandad of Leanne and Holly, a devoted brother of Liz and brother-in-law of Bob. Funeral service to take place at St. Edmund's Church, Sedgefield on Thursday January 10 at 12.00 noon, prior to cremation at Durham Crematorium. Friends please meet at Church. WILLIS - December 23, peacefully in hospital. Josie, aged 52 years, of Elizabeth Place, Darlington. Beloved wife of the late Brian, loving mam of Helen and Julie, cherished daughter of Ellen, also a devoted sister and auntie. Funeral Tuesday, January 8. Would friends please meet 12.15 p.m. for Requiem Mass at St. Thomas Aquinas R.C. Church, prior to burial in the North Cemetery. 'A lady who touched everyone's heart wherever she went'.

Norah (nee Moore), aged 69 years, beloved wife of Stephen, devoted mam of Leslie, Jeffrey, Chris, Andrew and Kevin, a dear mother-in-law, a much loved and loving nana and great-gran, also a dear sister-in-law and aunt. Will friends please meet for service in St. Mary's R.C. Church, Bishop Auckland at 10.30 a.m. on Wednesday January 9 followed by interment in Witton Park Cemetery. Evelyn, aged 97 years, dearly loved wife of the late Ralph, very dear mother of the late Norman, much loved mother-in-law of Myra, loving grandma of David and Andrew and a dear great-grandma. Funeral service to be held at St. Mary's Church, Arkengarthdale on Monday, December 31 at 11.30 a.m., followed by interment in the Churchyard. Family flowers only please. Mary Elin (nee Clarke), aged 84 years, widow of Neville, loving mother of Jeremy and a dearest mother-in-law of Vanna.
