FELICITA H. GARIBAY
Mass of the Christian burial for Felicita Hernandez Garibay, 74, was held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 3, 2004 at St. Mary's Catholic Church. The Reverend Antonio Aureus was the celebrant, assisted by Deacon Thomas Avila. A rosary was recited for Mrs. Garibay at 7:00 p.m. Monday, February 2, 2004 in the Danniel Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment followed at St. Mary's Cemetery.
Mrs. Garibay passed away Saturday, January 31, 2004 at Arlington Medical Center.
She was born on May 2, 1929 in Bryan to Eugenio Hernandez and Antonia Cortez.
She married Jose Angel Garibay on January 28, 1957 in Floydada. He preceded her in death on May 17, 2002.
She was also preceded in death by two sons, Roberto Vasquez and Ramon Garibay.
Survivors include four sons, Joe Vasquez, Jr. of Canyon, Frederico Garibay of Napa Valley, California, Rodolfo H. Garibay of Amarillo and Rosendo Garibay of Plainview; seven daughters, La Nora Kohut of Royal Oaks, Michigan, Susan Avila of Lubbock, Diana Avila of Sherman, Rebecca Felix of Grand Prairie, Raquel Guerrero of Sherman, Rosario Williamson of Plainview and Reina Garcia of Sherman; 29 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.
MABBLE POLVADORE
Services were held Saturday, January 31, 2004 for Mabble Polvadore, 59, of Amarillo, in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories. Rev. Chester Beavers officiated.
Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Mrs. Polvadore died Tuesday, January 27, 2004.
She was born January 28, 1944 in Memphis. She married Harold J. Polvadore December 30, 1965 at Floydada.
Survivors include her husband of the home; four sisters, Johnnie F. Ogden of Childress, Betty McCarty of Nacogdoches, Evelyn Patterson of Alto, and Martha Smith of Nacogdoches.
She is preceded in death by one brother, Bill Kittrell in 1992.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Amarillo-Panhandle Humane Society, 3501 S. Osage, Amarillo, Texas 79103.
BILLY LYNN ALLEN
Billy Lynn Allen of San Diego, California, brother of N. Brice Allen, Crosbyton, passed away March 10, 2004.
Billy was born May 2, 1926 in Lockney to James Brice Allen and Myrtle Eunice Roach Allen. "Bill" as his family fondly called him was a graduate of Lockney High School. He was a Veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S.A. Navy.
Following WWII he was a part of the United States Occupation Force in Japan.
With his return to the U.S.A. he graduated from the University of Oklahoma. He moved to San Diego after graduation. He then spent a short time back in Lockney. He was employed in San Diego by the City Health Department, from which he retired. Bill was a world traveler. He will be missed by his family and friends.
FRED CARTHEL
Funeral services for Fred Carthel, 79, of Plainview were held Wednesday, March 10, 2004 at the West College and Third Church of Christ in Lockney. Frank Duckworth officiated and Dee Teel assisted. Burial was in the Lockney Cemetery under the direction of Moore-Rose- White Funeral Home of Lockney.
Mr. Carthel died Tuesday, March 9, 2004 at his residence in Plainview.
He was born April 12, 1924 in Floyd County to the late B.R. and Jessie Carthel. He married Jo Steen on April 5, 1942 in Portales, NM. He moved to Plainview in 1987. He was a farmer until he retired in 1987 and worked for Hale County Weed District after retirement. He was a member of the 11th and Amarillo Church of Christ in Plainview. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Linda Lemons on April 16, 2002.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Robert Carthel and wife Janice of Clovis, NM, Mike Carthel and wife Brenda of Plainview; two sisters, Gladys Golden of Floydada, Mary Barr of Denver, CO; ten grandchildren, six step grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and fourteen step great-grandchildren.
The family suggests donations be made to the building fund of the 11th and Amarillo Church of Christ in Plainview.
ATILANO GARCIA, JR.
Funeral services for Atilano Garcia, Jr., 67, of Floydada were held Saturday, March 13, 2004 at Moore-Rose- White Memorial Chapel in Floydada. Deacon Ricky Vasquez officiated. Burial was in Floydada Cemetery under the direction of Moore-Rose- White Funeral Home of Floydada.
Mr. Garcia passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2004 at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock.
He was born on December 6, 1936 in Edcouch to the late Atilano and Alejandra Sandoval Garcia. He was an auto mechanic until he retired in 1991. He enjoyed landscaping and gardening.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Rudy, Alfredo, Raymond and Rogelio Garcia.
Survivors include two sons, Emilio Garcia of Galveston, Reuben Garcia of Dallas; two daughters, Diana Sepeda of Weslaco, Sylvia Zaugmeyer of Dallas; two brothers, Robert and Raul Garcia; three sisters, Filipia Gonzales, Alejandra Hernandez, Rebecca Shappa; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
VINCENT GARCIA
Funeral Mass was held Saturday, March 13, 2004 for Vincent Garcia, 82, of Floydada at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Floydada. Father Arsenio Redulla officiated. Burial was in Floydada Cemetery under the direction of Moore-Rose- White Funeral Home of Floydada.
Mr. Garcia passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2004 at Lakeside Covenant Center in Lubbock.
He was born on February 22, 1922 in Gallup, NM to Augustin and Teresa. He served in the Army during WWII. He married Vicki Gomez on April 3, 1943 in Ballinger. He moved from Ballinger to Floydada in 1961. He was a truck driver for Bennett Building Materials from 1961 until he retired in 1983. He enjoyed fishing, reading the newspaper and was a member of the St. Mary Magdelan Church in Floydada.
He was preceded in death by one son, Jimmy Garcia in 2001.
Survivors include his wife, Vickie Garcia of Floydada; two sons, George Garcia and wife Lupe of Floydada, Rick Garcia of Floydada; seven daughters, Mary Lou Seca and husband Pedro of Plainview, Grace Collazo and husband Pete of Berwin, ILL, Janette Garza and husband Richard of Plainview, Angie Yannis of Floydada, Agnes Vasquez of Weslaco, Barbara Perez and husband Robert of Floydada, Amy Hernandez and husband Alex of Plainview; two brothers, Manuel Garcia of El Monte, CA, Polo Garcia of Albuquerque, NM; one sister, Josephine Macias of El Monte, CA; 43 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren.
SPENCER HATLEY
Graveside services were held for Spencer Hatley, 66, of Amarillo Thursday, March 18, 2004 at the Floydada Cemetery. Rev. Anthony Sisemore officiated. Burial was under the direction of Moore-Rose- White Funeral Home of Floydada.
He died Sunday, March 14, 2004 in Amarillo.
He was born January 11, 1938 in Floydada to the late D.G. and Mabel Hatley. He was a truck driver for the Salvation Army until he retired in 2000, and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Floydada
Survivors include two daughters, Sherry Kizar of Amarillo and Patricia Edminston of McCamey; one brother, Buddy Hatley of Floydada; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
FLORIECE NICHOLSON
Funeral services for Floriece Nicholson, 74, of Paris, formerly of Floydada, were conducted Thursday, March 11, 2004 in the Fry-Gibbs Funeral Chapel in Paris.. Rev. Byron Howard officiated. Burial was in Memorial Gardens in Henderson.
Mrs. Nicholson passed away Monday March 8, 2004 at her residence.
She was born on 11-13-1929 in Crosbyton, the daughter of William Eli and Mary Eva Proffitt Edwards. She was a member of the Bible Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant. She married Reid L. Nicholson in 1948. He preceded her in death.
She is survived by her children, Gary Nicholson and wife Pam of Powderly, Loyd Nicholson and wife Sandy of Eustace, Stanley Nicholson of Paris, and Terry Watkins and husband Tony of Bogata, TX.;five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother, Zola Edwards; two sisters Stella Miller of Ingleside, Aline Fain and husband Earl of Victoria; and one brother-in-law Bill Robertson of Midland.
MARY LEE WARREN
Funeral services for Mary Lee Warren, 83, of Floydada were held Saturday, March 13, 2004 at the First United Methodist Church in Floydada. Dr. David Jones officiated. Burial was in Floyd County Memorial Park under the direction of Moore-Rose- White Funeral Home of Floydada.
Mrs. Warren passed away Thursday, March 11, 2004 at Floydada Rehabilitation and Care Center.
She was born December 19, 1920 in Clarksville to the late Oscar Leonard and Martha Leora O'Bannon. She moved to Floydada from Ada, OK in 1928. She married Dorcie Warren on September 14, 1962 in Clovis, NM. He preceded her in death on May 23, 2001. She was a supervisor for a school cafeteria and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Floydada. She enjoyed baby sitting at the church nursery.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Robert O'Bannon in February of 2004 and one son, Robert Wayne Payne on November 19, 1973.
Survivors include one son, Don Payne and wife Velma of Floydada; two daughters, Dianne Branham and husband Bryan of Amarillo, Kristi Bunch and husband Willis of Floydada; ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren..

NIEVES V. BUENO
Funeral mass was celebrated for Niees V. Bueno, 85, of Alice Saturday, May 1, 2004 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Alice. Interment was in the New Collins Cemetery, Alice under the direction of the Roberson Funeral, Alice.
Mrs. Bueno died Wednesday, April 28, 2004 following a long illness.
She was born in Alice. She was a loving Mother, Grandmother, Aunt, and friend.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Margarita and Anastacio Villarreal; three brothers, Vicente Villarreal, Cecilio Villarreal, and Augustine Villarreal; four sisters, Josefina Garcia, Maria Vela, Anite Lule and Olivia Rodriquez; one son, Anastacio Bueno; and one grandson, Jon Paul Medina.
Survivors include: one son, Israel Bueno of Alice; five daughters, Maria Elena (Margarito) Arellano of Lockney, Esmeralda (Terry) Drake of Alice, Elodia Villa of McKinney, Petra Seidel of Houston, and Dahlia (Ken) Austin of McKinney; one granddaughter raised as a daughter, Hilda (Amauri) Fonseca of Alice; thirty grandchildren; fifty five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
