Hatcher

Funeral services were held Friday, March 5, 2004 at Batson Prairie Baptist Church for Joyce Hatcher, 72, of Batson. Burial followed at Guedry Cemetery, Batson.
A native of Daisetta, she lived in Batson most of her life and was a homemaker. She died Tuesday, March 2, 2004, at her residence. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Henry Hatcher; one sister and three brothers.
Survivors include her daughter, Betty Dixon and husband, John, of Batson; son, John 'Buzz' Hatcher Jr. of Batson; and three grandchildren, Melissa Dixon, Jennifer Dixon and Steven Hatcher.
Henderson

Funeral services for R.D. Henderson Sr., 78, of Goodrich, were held Wednesday, March 3, 2004, at the Church of God in Christ in Livingston. Burial followed in Victory Place Cemetery in Swartout.
Mr. Henderson was a life long resident of Polk County. He attended the Garner Prayer School in Livingston. He worked for Polk County Motor Company for over 30 years and was known as an all-around community man to people in Polk and San Jacinto counties.
Mr. Henderson died Saturday, February 28, in Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
Survivors include his daughter, Gloria Faye Franks of Houston and Marie Randolph and Phillis Lewis, both of Goodrich; sons, George C. Henderson, Kennedy Henderson of Coldspring and R.D. Henderson Jr. of Livingston, James Jackson and Faddie Bennett, both of Houston; sister-in-law, Dixie Henderson of Livingston; 10 grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Lewis

Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 3, 2004, for Edna Merle Lewis, 79, of Batson, at United Pentecostal Church in Batson with Bro. John Wiles officiating. Interment followed at Guedry Cemetery in Batson.
She was born on August 31, 1924 in Batson the daughter of Johnnie Caruthers and Rittie Richey. She was a homemaker and lifelong resident of Hardin County. She was a member of the Batson United Pentecostal Church, who enjoyed singing and playing her guitar, as well as visiting with friends and family.
Lewis died on Monday morning, March 1, 2004, at a Beaumont hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Edna Joyce Lewis; brothers, John Caruthers, Charles Caruthers and Betty Caruthers; sisters, Alma Storey and Oma Yarber.
Survivors include her two daughters, Pamela Sanders and Nickole May, both of Batson; six sons, Raymond Cotton, Travis Cotton, Richard Lewis, George Lewis, Jerry Lewis and Carlton Lewis, all of Batson; five sisters, Edith Riley of Vidor, Lizzie Gillfillian and Janie Whitely, both of Batson, Doris Husband of Vidor and Thelma Reavis of Devers; brothers, Jim Caruthers of Saratoga and Gene Caruthers of Batson; twenty grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mitchell

Funeral services for Bascil P. Mitchell, 85, of Rye, were conducted Monday, March 8, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at Rainbow Baptist Church, with pastor Clyde Somers officiating. Masonic graveside rites and interment followed in Holly Grove Cemetery.
He resided most of his life in Texas and was a charter member of Rainbow Baptist Church in Rye. He was a Master Mason of 40 years and a member of Tarkington Prairie Masonic Lodge No. 495 and a member of Order of Eastern Star of Cleveland. He was a paint contractor for Statewide Homes a number of years and later a prison guard for the City of Houston, where he retired after 13 years of service.
Mr. Mitchell died Thursday, March 5, 2004, in Sour Lake.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Marie Mitchell of Rye; sons, Ted Mitchell and wife, Angie, and Neil Mitchell and wife, Barbara; daughter, Lavita Lawson and husband, Richard, of Rye; seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and two brothers and two sisters of Mississippi.
Memorials may be made to Rainbow Baptist Church Building Fund or Odyssey Healthcare of Beaumont.
Forest Lawn Funeral Home of Beaumont was in charge of arrangements.
Simons

Graveside services were held Tuesday, March 2, 2004 at Ivie Cemetery in Houston County for James Clifford Simons, 39, of Diboll, with Bro. James Brock officiating.
Mr. Simons was born March 23, 1964 in Livingston, the son of Clifford Zack Simons and Bettie Sue Currie Simons and he died on February 27, 2004 in Diboll. He was preceded in death by a son, Stephen Andrew Simons; brother, Anthony Wayne Simons; sister, Rhonda Kay Griffin; mother, Bettie Sue Currie Simons and father, Clifford Zack Simons.
Mr. Simons graduated from Corrigan High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps and then the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his son, Russell Eugene Simons of Pennsylvania; sisters, Stephanie Silox and husband, Paul, of Groveton, Carolyn Ann Sims of Diboll and Cindy Hill and husband, Robert, of Ace; brother, Clifford Wayne Simons of Diboll; uncle and aunt, David and Louise Currie of Corrigan; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Simonson

Funeral services for Glenn Simonson, 71, were held Friday, March 5, 2004, at the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dale Snell officiating. Burial followed in Houston National Cemetery. military honors were conducted by the District 4 Honor Guard.
He was born December 17, 1932 in Eveleth, Minnesota, the son of Martin and Lillian Kreuger Simonson. He married Pat Simonson on October 22, 1982 in Gatesville. Mr. Simonson was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Onalaska, the VFW Post 8568 and The American Legion. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict having attained the rank of Captain (T). He enlisted on January 13, 1953 in Dallas and was discharged on January 12, 1955 in Fort Knox, Kentucky.
Mr. Simonson died Tuesday, March 2, 2004, at his residence in Onalaska. He was preceded in death by his father; and a nephew, Jacob Pearsall.
Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Pat Simonson of Onalaska; mother, Lillian Neusche of Livingston; sons, Martin Simonson of Decatur, Indiana and Robert Simonson of Louisville, Kentucky; daughters, Anita Pearsall of Austin and Angela Simonson of Houston; sister, Marlilla Pearsall of Livingston; grandchildren, Ross Simonson, Ava Simonson, Tyler Simonson, Spencer Simonson, Makenzie Simonson, Sean Pearsall and Ryan Pearsall.
Pallbearers were Bobby Smaistrla, Eddy Kolenovsky, Robert Dee Jr., Gary Teel, Don Cherry and Lucky Naylor.

Stein

Funeral services for William Stein, 67, of Rye, were conducted Saturday, March 6, 2004, at Cochran Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Wayne Landrum officiating. Burial followed in Massey Cemetery in Polk County.
He was born January 25, 1937 in Houston, the son of Patsy and Birdie Mae Howell Stein. He married Hazel Faye Stein on June 19, 1955 in Channelview.
Mr. Stein died Tuesday, March 2, in Spring Branch Medical Center in Houston. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Patrick Stein.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Hazel Stein, of Rye; two sons, Robert William Stein of Rye and Gary Lee Stein of Weesatche; daughter, Julia Parker of Livingston; sister, Lula Bell Bowman of Houston; and grandchildren, Robert William Stein III, James Lubie Stein, Tonya Marie Parker, Amy Lynn Stein, Charity Faye Parker, Alisha Ann Parker and Shyane Lee Stein.
Pallbearers were Robert William Stein II, James Lubig Stein, Scott Boles, Chris Lister, Tony Brown and Steven Tidwell. Honorary pallbearers were Mark Moore, Chris Hoffman and Ronnie Evans.

Graveside services for Robert Earl Trollinger, 43, of Livingston, were conducted Sunday, March 7, 2004, at Magnolia Cemetery in Onalaska, with the Rev. Lee Poe officiating. military honors were conducted by the VFW Post 8568 Honor Guard.
He was born October 4, 1960 in Fort Benning, Georgia, the son of Charles R. Trollinger Sr. and Julie Flores Trollinger. He graduated from Livingston High School and served in the Marines.
Mr. Trollinger died Sunday, February 29, at his residence in Livingston. He was preceded in death by his father; brother, Charles Trollinger Jr.; and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. E. Trollinger and Mr. and Mrs. Simon Flores.
Survivors include his mother, Julia Duke of Livingston; sister, Karen Trollinger of Livingston; brother and sister-in-law, Earnie and Vicki Trollinger of Livingston; nephews, Tony Trollinger and wife, Kathy, Christopher Trollinger and Chucky Fears, all of Livingston; nieces, Danielle Fears and Autumn Trollinger, both of Livingston; great-niece, Aviella Trollinger of Livingston; seven aunts, two uncles and numerous cousins and pets.
Venson

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 6, 2004, at the First United Methodist Church on U.S. 190 West in Livingston, for Patrick LaVella Venson, 15, of Goodrich, with the Rev. Gregory V. Edwards of the Church of God in Christ officiating. Burial followed in New Hope Cemetery, Goodrich.
He was born October 11, 1988 in Livingston, the son of the late Ricky Croft and Effie Venson. He attended Goodrich public schools and at the time of his death was a freshman at Goodrich High School, where he was a member of the Hornets basketball team. He was a Baptist.
Patrick died Saturday, February 28, 2004, in an automobile accident on U.S. 59 and FM 1988 in Goodrich.
Survivors include his mother, Effie Venson; three brothers, Joshua Venson, Jamel Carter and Casey McGowen; sister, Neshia Hancock; grandmother, Johnnie M. Funeral services for Nona Wilson, 94, of Jemez Pueblo, New Mexico, formerly of Livingston, were held Tuesday, March 2, 2004, at the Indian Presbyterian Church, Livingston, with the Rev. Bill Heck officiating. Burial followed in the Alabama-Coushatta Indian Reservation Cemetery in Polk County.
She was born September 23, 1909 in Polk County, the daughter of Henry and Fannie (Thompson) Thompson.
Mrs. Wilson died Friday, February 27, 2004, in Acoma-Canoncito-Laguna Hospital in Acoma, New Mexico. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jim Wilson; sons, Webster Thompson and Jerry Thompson; grandson, Bobby Thompson; and great-great granddaughter, Dre-Auna N. Whitethunder.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Charlotte and Michael Romero of Jemez Pueblo, New Mexico; granddaughters, Yvonne Whitethunder, Rowena Morgan, De-Aun Thompson and Priscilla Thompson, all of the Alabama-Coushatta Indian Reservation and Angela Romero of Jemez Pueblo, New Mexico; grandsons, Abel Thompson of the Indian Reservation and Lyndell Romero and Jim Romero, both of Jemez Pueblo, New Mexico; 16 grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 7, 2004 for Eddie Woolf, 64, of Livingston, at the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel, with Darrell Longino officiating. Burial was at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 8, 2004, in Houston National Cemetery. military honors were conducted by the District No. 4 Honor Guard.
He was born August 30, 1939 in Duncan, Oklahoma, the son of Edward Earnest Woolf and Hazel Leon Griffin Woolf, both of whom preceded him in death. He served in the Navy from 1957-1959, having attained the rank of SN (E-3). He enlisted on January 31, 1957 in Houston and was discharged on July 20, 1959 in San Diego, California.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Woolf of Livingston; sons, Joe Woolf of Irving, Kenny Woolf of Lebanon, Missouri and William Ernest Woolf of Houston; step-sons, Bubba Castillo of Livingston, Bruce Stokes and David Stokes, both of Houston; daughter, Donna Wilson of Houston; step-daughters, Deanna Stokes and Lisa Castillo, both of Houston and Stephanie Wells of Elkhart; sister, Glenda Mayo of Galveston; grandchildren, Amber Martin, Tabitha Woolf, Josh Woolf, Kendra Woolf, K.J. Woolf, Chase Woolf, Breana Wilson, Tierra Wilson, Alexis Wells, Haley Palmer, Corey Alman and Daniel Sifford; great-grandchild, Ryan Bacak; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.
