January 10, 2004
Lewis  Jefferson (Jeff) Ratcliff, 63, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2004 at Memorial Medical Center Livingston in Livingston,  Texas.
He is survived by his wife Marie Ratcliff of Livingston; son, Roger Brian Ratcliff of Livingston; daughter and son-in-law, Jeanine and Michael Hadnot of Beaumont, Letha Inman and Terry Sapp of Huntsville; 5 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Josie Ratcliff of Marshall, Billy and Billie Ratcliff of Spurger, Jimmy and Ruth Ratcliff of Alvin; sister-in-law, Loudella Ratcliff of Beaumont.
He was preceded in death by his father, Cecil Christopher Ratcliff; mother, Bertha Edna Best Ratcliff; brothers, J. E. Ratcliff, Hershal Ratcliff and C. L. Ratcliff.
He was born April 4, 1941 in Spurger the son of Cecil and Bertha (Best) Ratcliff. Pallbearers were Tommy Blaylock, Ralph Mullins, Luke Satterwhite, Ray Johnson, Larry  Johnson and Randy Parrish. Honorary pallbearer was Ken Hayes.
Jeff was a 32nd Degree Mason and member of the Masonic Lodge #495, Eastern Star Lodge #462, Scottish Rite, York Rite and member of the Arabian Shriners. He was also a past member of the Woodville Volunteer Fire Department and past member of the WISD School Board.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Dec. 30 at 10 a.m. at Cochran Funeral Home. Brother Randal Whitt officiated. Burial followed in the Beech Creek Cemetery in Spurger.

Charles Gerald Parker
January 10, 2004
Charles Gerald Parker, 77, of Beaumont passed away Saturday, Jan. 1, 2005 at Christus St. Mary Hospital in Port Arthur.
Mr. Parker was a native of Marthaville,  Louisiana and he was born on Sept. 5, 1927. Charles was a retired trucker for Montgomery Trucking Line. He was also a retired veteran who served in the Korean War and the  Vietnam War while in the Air Force. Charles was a faithful member of New Life Tabernacle Church in Beaumont.
Mr. Parker is preceded in death by wife, Margaret Parker; parents, George W. Parker and Essie Tate; and daughter, Brenda Kay Blizzard.
Mr. Charles Parker is survived by his daughters Debbie Sztraky of Nederland, Belinda Epps and husband Garry of Port Arthur, and Rebecca Burrow and husband Ronald of Lumberton; brother George David Parker of Arizona; grandchildren, Eric Sztraky, Elizabeth Young, Ashley and Emily Epps, Marshall, Elijay, Joshua, Dalton, Isaac Stafford and Audrey Lee and; one great grandchild, Katelynn.
Services were held on Tuesday, Jan. 4 at New Life Tabernacle Church in Beaumont at 1 p.m. with a graveside service at Magnolia Cemetery in Woodville. Visitation was held on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Pat A. Riley Funeral Home.

A. Lee Hart
January 10, 2004
A. Lee Hart, 86, of Campers Cove passed away Dec. 31, 2004 at Lufkin Memorial Hospital in Lufkin.
She was born Sept. 9, 1918 in Woodville to Dick and Stella Barclay. She was a lifelong resident of Tyler County and a member of Fairview Baptist Church.
She is survived by her son, Charles Hart and wife Judy of Houston; daughter, Rebecca Kennedy of Alvin; two grandchildren, Glenn Kennedy and Chad Kennedy; one great grandchild, Justin and one great, great grandchild Taylor.
Funeral service was held Monday, Jan. 3, 2005 at 11 a.m. at the Fairview Baptist Church with Brother Doyle Butcher officiating, burial followed at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation was held Sunday from 4 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers were Terry Frye, Sam Bormaster, Bill Crozier, James Gunter, Tommy Meekins and Jerry Meekins.
Services were entrusted to Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County.

Anne K. Overstreet
January 10, 2004
Anne K. Overstreet passed away January 3, 2005. She was born May 2, 1921 in Bur-ton,  Texas, the daughter of Reverend Arthur Karl Koeppe and Martha Wolf Koeppe. She was preceded in death by her husband Delbert Overstreet Sr., and a brother Elmer Koeppe. She is survived by one son, Del-bert Overstreet, Jr.; two grandchildren, Douglas Carl and Susan Lynn Overstreet; two great grandchildren, Leah Michelle Schwartz and Daniel Coleman Overstreet.
She was a retired school teacher and was head of the Allan Shivers Library and Museum or a number of years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Allan Shivers Library.
A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, January 8, 2005 at Forest Lawn in Beaumont. She was cremated.

Hughes
Funeral services for Ruth Jane Hughes, 87, of Livingston, were held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 13, 2003, from the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Harold Isaacs officiating. Burial followed in Rosewood Cemetery in Humble.
She was born July 19, 1916 in Gilmer, the daughter of Asa Lee Alexander and Bessie Sanders Alexander.
Mrs. Hughes died Wednesday, October 8, 2003, in Memorial Health System of East  Texas in Lufkin. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George R. Hughes; grandson, Joey Ray Campbell; brother, John Henry Alexander; and sister, Pat Heffington.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara Ann and Joe W. Campbell of Livingston; grandson and wife, Herman D. and Dianne Campbell of Cash; great-grandson, George R. Campbell of Cash; great-granddaughter, Daniea P. Campbell of Cash; granddaughter-in-law, Maria Campbell of Pasadena; great-grandson, Ray Weldon Campbell of Pasadena; great-granddaughter, Barbara Marie Campbell of Pasadena; sister, Elizabeth Wright of Houston; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Herman Campbell, Ronnie Creek, Rodney Wright, Billy Ray Wright, Floyd Hughes, Ricco Alexander, Aaron Alexander and Gary Alexander.
Cochran Funeral Home, Livingston, was in charge of arrangements.

Rippy
Funeral services for Jo Ann Rippy, 68, were held Friday, October 10, 2003 from the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Richard Gifford officiating. Burial was Saturday, October 11, in Lost Creek Cemetery in Sheridan, Arkansas, with the Rev. Brennan Ayers officiating.
She was born on April 22, 1935 in Warren, Arkansas, the daughter of Robert and Myrtle Overton Dollathide. She was a member of Central Baptist Church in Livingston. She graduated from Little Rock Senior High School and recently celebrated her 50th reunion. She attended Angelina College in Lufkin. She enjoyed traveling, art, cooking and entertaining friends.
She died Wednesday, October 8, 2003, at her residence in Livingston. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Troy Melvin Rippy.
Survivors include her daughter, Bonnie Sue Rippy of Livingston; son and daughter-in-law, Robert 'Bobby' Rippy and Robin Rippy of Livingston; granddaughter and grandson, Kimberly Elaine Rippy and Robert Troy Rippy of Livingston; sister, Robbie Walpole; nephew, Joe Edward Walpole of Vilonia, Arkansas; and friend, Glenn Hicks of Livingston.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Haley Land Fund, 102 Cardinal Drive, Livingston,  Texas 77351.
Cochran Funeral Home, Livingston, was in charge of arrangements.

Stevens
Funeral services for William Walter Stevens, 74, of Onalaska, were held Saturday, October 11, 2003, from the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Onalaska, with the Rev. Don Wilkey officiating. Burial followed in Houston National Cemetery in Houston. military honors were conducted by the VFW Post 8568 Honor Guard.
He was born April 10, 1929 in Fair Haven, Vermont, the son of Walter William Stevens and Margaret Elizabeth Rodd Stevens. Mr. Stevens served in the U.S. Air Force and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Onalaska.
He died Wednesday, October 8, 2003, in the VA Hospital in Houston. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert Stevens; and sister, Pauline Baird.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Cora Stevens of Onalaska; daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Norman Sanders of Channelview; grandson, David James Wright Jr. of San Mareno, California; granddaughters, Shannon Elizabeth Sanders and Felicia Ann Sanders, both of Channelview; great-grandson, Matthew Wright of California; great-granddaughter, Jennifer Wright of California; niece and nephew, Joan and Lewis Gaberial of Rutland, Vermont; nephew, Maurice Baird Jr. of Rutland, Vermont; sisters-in-law, Frances Trono of California, Marion and husband, George Burns, Myrtle Bennett and Emma and Natt McIntire, all of Lakeland, Florida; and brother-in-law, Mason Hier of Sulfolk, England.
Cochran Funeral Home, Onalaska, was in charge of arrangements.

Williams
Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 9, 2003, from the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel, for Melvin Williams, 69, with the Rev. Frank Hood officiating. Burial followed in Menard Chapel Cemetery. military honors were conducted by the VFW Post 8568 Honor Guard.
He was born September 16, 1934 in Livingston, the son of Alton E. and Edna E. Duff Williams. He retired from Bayer Corporation of Houston after 32 years of service. He served in the U.S. Army from 1959-65.
Mr. Williams died Sunday, October 5, in Northeast Medical Center Hospital in Humble. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Dale Edward Williams; and sister, Trudy Williams Pillow.
Survivors include his daughter, Karen Denice Williams of Austin; mother of Karen Denice, Shirley Strang of Conroe; best friend, partner and C.G. Edna F. Williams of Livingston; sister and brothers-in-law, Myrtle and Jack Shepherd of Houston, Vivian and George  Johnson of Trinity and Florence and Bill Meachum of Houston; brothers and sisters-in-law, Keith and Paula Williams of Humble and Alton "Bubba" and Sandy Williams of Highlands; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
Pallbearers were Roger Stone Sr., Roger Stone Jr., Ray Duff, Q.R. 'Cooter" Duff, Mark Mueck and Charles Duff Jr. Honorary pallbearers were George Johnson, Jack Shepherd, Sam Duff, Horace Duff, Dr. Rakla, Dr. Katherine Lewis, Dr. Pierce Khoury and his nurses at Northeast Medical Center Hospital in Humble.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice, or to the Northeast Medical Center Hospice Program.

Attaway
Funeral services for Norman L. Attaway, 92, of Denton, formerly of Livingston, were held Monday, October 6, 2003, from the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Royce Pennington officiating. Burial followed in Forest Hill Cemetery.
He was born March 12, 1911 in Black Oak, the son of Elbert David Attaway and Emma Elizabeth French Attaway. Mr. Attaway died Wednesday, October 1, in Denton Community Hospital in Denton.
Survivors include his sons, Bobby Attaway, David Zuma, Lynn Attaway and Jerry Attaway; daughter, Regina Attaway; sister, Vivian 'Billie' Vashti Jones; grandchildren, Gilbert Gene Attaway, Tony Zuma, David Zuma, Don Attaway, Danny Attaway, Dwight Attaway, Loretta Attaway, Sarah Attaway, Jesse Attaway, Dexter Morgan, James Morgan, Mary Morgan, Lisa Attaway and Lacy Attaway; and great-grandchildren, Crystal Phillips, David Phillips and Bruce Phillips.
Cochran Funeral Home, Livingston, was in charge of arrangements.

Courtney
Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 8, 2003 for Jim Courtney, 77, of Magnolia, formerly of Livingston, from St. Stephen The Martyr Mission, with Father Joseph Kalladan officiating. Deacon Rudy Cockburn held the rosary. Burial was in Magnolia Cemetery in Onalaska.
He was born January 27, 1926 in Greensburg, Indiana, the son of Floyd and Margaret McNaught Courtney. Mr. Courtney was a member of St. Mathias Catholic Church, St. Stephen The Martyr Mission and the Knights of Columbus. Mr. Courtney served in the U.S. Navy.
Mr. Courtney died Thursday, October 2, in Trinity Medical Center in Brenham. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; his parents and his son, James Richard Courtney.
Survivors include his daughters, Margaret Courtney-Steinburg and husband, Michael, of Magnolia and Barbara Thompson and husband, Jerry, of  Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Shanna Steinburg, William  Jones and Williamaye Jones; great-grandchildren, Matthew, Jessica Jones, Billy  Jones and Margaret Jones; and sisters-in-law, Rosie Janes and Mary Marx, both of New York and Pat Steir.
The Knights of Columbus, Frank Borgesi, Joe Bowen, Bob Peach, Jim Oestreich, Dave Morgan and Skip Norduft served as pallbearers.
Cochran Funeral Home, Livingston, was in charge of arrangements.

Dillon
Graveside services for Daniel  Jackson 'Jack' Dillon, 98, of Dallardsville, were held Sunday, October 5, 2003, at Big Sandy Cemetery, with the Revs. Danny Moye and Rex Hendrix officiating. Interment followed under the direction of Pace Funeral Home.
Mr. Dillon was born September 4, 1905 in Polk County to parents George W. and Missouri Moye Dillon. He married Nellie A. Willford on November 28, 1940, and she preceded him in death on February 13, 2003. Mr. Dillon and his wife were charter members of Big Sandy Baptist Church. He was employed as a logger and later with the Big Sandy Schools.
Mr. Dillon died Friday, October 3, 2003, in Livingston.
Survivors include three sons, George Dillon of Dallardsville, Kenneth D. Dillon and wife, Arlene and Milton D. Dillon and wife, Dale, all of Livingston; two daughters, Mary  Taylor and husband, Jimmy, of Livingston and Laura Brockleman of Salem, Oregon; 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren.
