Marietta Callaway

Marietta Callaway, 79, of Houston, passed away on Nov. 29, 2004. She was born on Dec. 31, 1924 in Warren to the late Travis L. and Mary Cathrine Campbell Nolen.
She is survived by her children; Michael Callaway and his wife Karyn of Houston and Linda Callaway Wong and husband King of Houston; grandchildren, Justin Wong and wife Karina, Colleen Callaway, and Michael Callaway and one great grandchild, Derek Alexander Wong; as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
The family received visitors at Earthman Hunters Creek Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from 6 - 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday morning at 9:30 a.m. in the chapel of Tallowood Baptist Church with interment to follow at Swearingen Cemetery in Warren at 2:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in Marietta’s memory to the American Heart Association.
Local arrangements were handled by Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County.
Bridget K. Bell Hoskins

Bridget K. Bell-Hoskins, 38, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 2nd after a lenthy illness. She was born in Shattuck, Oklhoma to Robin Clyne and John David Bell on July 8, 1966. She was a 1984 graduate of McAllen High School, Mcallen, Texas. She died after a lengthy illness of lupus, respiratory infection and failure and fibromyalgia. She is preceded in death by her grandmother, Gladyce Williams Bell of Woodward, Oklahoma.
`Bridget is survived by her mother, Rogin Clyne, formally of Woodville, now living Las Vegas, NM and her father, John David Bell of Lake Jackson, Texas; one daughter, Chez Hoskins, age 18, also of Las Vegas ; brother Roger Bell, of Oakland, California; her grandmother, Margery Kirkbride Clyne, formerly of Alva, now living in Las Vegas, NM; aunts: Kay Bell of Woodward, Ok., Gerry Bell Hand of Mooreland, Okla., Judy Bell Pickle of Magnolia, Tx., Marilyn Clyne of Las Vegas, and great aunt Mary Doris Kirkbride Powers of California. She also has 6 first cousins, still living.
`A memorial service was held on Saturday, November 6, 2004 at St. Paul's Peace Episcopal-Lutheran Church on 8th and National, with Rev. Richard Reed officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Nelson Funeral Home of Las Vegas.
James Arthur ‘Jim’ Beavers

A Memorial Service for James Arthur "Jim" Beavers, age 55, is scheduled for 10 a.m., Monday, Nov. 22, at Cochran Funeral Home, located at 406 Yaupon St., Livingston, TX 77351. Their phone number is 936-327-2158.
For those attending the 10am service, gentlemen are encouraged to dress in uniform, and ladies in period dresses. Black mourning dresses are also welcome.
At 2pm, we will hold a Confederate outdoor service at Indian Springs, between Livingston and Woodville, off highway 190. We will conduct the service across the road from Jim Beaver's homeplace with flags, rifles, and cannon.
Men in uniform with flags, will be posted at the entrance to Indian Springs beside highway 190, from 1:00PM until 1:45PM. As you travel from Woodville on 190, drive past the new Alabama-Coushatta Shell station complex
(on your right) a couple miles and Indian Springs will be on your left.
If you come in from Livingston, travel east on 190, look for the signs, and the entrance to Indian Springs will be on your right. There is a little lawn mower shop (used to be a grocery store) situated at an angle to the intersection. Let us honor this man who supported us in honoring so many others. James and Priscilla Hale
Dessie Ellen Cook

Dessie Ellen Cook, 77, of Hillister, passed away Nov. 10, 2004 at the Tyler County Hospital.
Born Aug. 17, 1927 in Kountze to Henry A. and Martha Mills Davis, she lived in Beaumont before moving to Hillister 24 years ago. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Warren and was a homemaker.
She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, George T. Cook of Hillister; daughters, Carol Ann Reel of Call and Gloria Mae Savoy of Vidor; son, Richard T. Cook; sisters, Lessie Lawrence of Livingston and Shirley Robin of Vidor; four grandsons, four granddaughters and six great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Funeral service was held Friday, Nov. 12 at 10 a.m. at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Mark Smith officiating. Burial followed at Camp Ground Cemetery. Visitation was held Thursday evening at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers were John Savoy, Jr., Joseph Savoy, Curtis Reel, Jason Britton, Herchel A. Britton, Jr., and Harley McKey.
Services were entrusted to Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County.
Roger Dale Kraus

Roger Dale Kraus, 47, of Beaumont, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2004 at his residence in Beaumont. Born Feb. 11, 1957 in Woodville, to Herbert and Della Hammons Kraus, he lived in Vidor and attended Vidor High School. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy and a member of the Pine Forest Masonic Lodge #1420.
Mr. Kraus is preceded in death by his father, Herbert “Bill” Kraus.
He is survived by his mother, Della Kraus of Vidor; sister, Darlene Rush and husband, Ted of Vidor; brother, Dudley Kraus and wife, Karen of Bridge City; niece, Rachel Kraus and nephew, Michael Kraus both of Bridge City.
A graveside service was held Sunday, Nov. 14, at 3 p.m. at the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Chester with Rev. Bobby Edwards officiating. Visitation was held Sunday from 1:30 until 2:30 p.m. at Riley Funeral Home in Woodville.
Services were entrusted to Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County.
Charline Webb

Charline Webb, 86, of Warren passed away Thursday, Nov. 11, 2004 at Silsbee Oaks Health Care in Silsbee.
Services were Saturday, Nov. 13 at 2 p.m. in the Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home Chapel in Woodville with a 2 p.m. graveside service Sunday, in Horton Cemetery near Commerce.
Charline was born May 21, 1918 to Ben and Grace Gilmore Wilburn. She was preceded in death by her husband Birva Webb and son Don Webb and is survived by her daughter Birline Young of Warren; 4 grandchildren and spouses, Cristi and Chris Kethan, Cary and Brandi Young, Phillip Young and Tammie and Eric Matthews; 2 step grandchildren, James and Kenneth Ashley; 10 great grandchildren, Tori Haygood, Lauren and Grace Kethan, Brandon, Chloe, Bailey, Cody and Collin Young, Kylee and Bradaen Matthews and 3 step great grandchildren, Matthew, Eleanor and Samuel Warren.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Benjamin Franklin Caperton, III
Benjamin Franklin Caperton, III, 82, of Hillister passed away Nov. 15, 2004 at his residence.
Born June 16, 1922 in Dallas, he lived in Hillister for the past 18 years. He was a retired regional claims adjustor for Mutual of Omaha. He was a member and deacon of the Hillister Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Urbandale in Dallas, past president of Riverlake Country Club, member of the Nose Brotherhood at Baylor University and a member of the 1st Marine Parachute Regiment Survivors.
On August 19, 1946 he married the love of his life who survives him, Dorothy Caperton. He is also survived by his loving children, Ben Caperton IV and wife, Jamie of Woodland Park, CO., Karen Poindexter and husband, Ron of Hillister and Ves Caperton and wife, Chadda of Willis; twelve grandchildren and three great grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, Nov. 17 at 4 p.m. at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel in Woodville with Brother Clark Mahoney officiating. A graveside service will be held Thursday, Nov. 18 at 2 p.m. at Oakwood Cemetery in Waco. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at Riley Funeral Home in Woodville.
Serving as pallbearers will be Elton Spurlock, Paul Jones, Bud Ware, B. A. Smith, Byron Holley and Al Prichard.

Jessie Lee Bandsma
Jessie Lee Bandsma was born July 10, 1920 in Port Arthur, and passed away on Nov. 14, 2004 in Woodville.
Jessie was born and raised in Port Arthur to parents Bessie and Jessie Whitmire. She and husband, Paul retired to Woodville where Jessie continued to work as a bookkeeper for Reid Production Company. Jessie volunteered her time as a Pink Lady at the hospital and played the organ and piano for the First Baptist Church and First Christian Church, both in Woodville.
Jessie was preceded in death by her parents, Bessie and Jessie Whitmire, husband, Paul Bandsma and her only child, Paula Klages.
She is survived by a brother Hoyt Whitmire of Rockdale and granddaughters, Tanya Klages of Spring and Carol Klages of Victoria.
Funeral arrangements are through Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Woodville with visitation at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 18. Funeral services will be at Stringer & Griffin at 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 19 with burial after the funeral service at Antioch Cemetery in Buna.
Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, Adopt-A-Pet of Victoria.

Odelia ‘Dee’ Swearingen Young
Odelia “Dee” Swearingen Young, 95, of Woodville passed away November 14, 2004 in Porter, Texas.
Born October 29, 1909 in Woodville, Texas to Charlie and Lula Adams Swearin-gen, she lived in Woodville most of her life. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Woodville.
She is survived by her daughter, Patsy R. Young of Kingwood; grandchildren, Linda Slater of Dallas, Brenda Phillips of Coppel and David Ramsey of Dublin, Ireland; nephew Billy Frank Eaves of Woodville; cousin Bessie Bennett and children, Martha Bennett and Betty and John Hamilton; and a host of family and friends.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 17, 2004 at 1:30p.m. at the Riley Funeral Home chapel with Dr. Raymond Parker officiating. Burial will follow at Campground Cemetery near Woodville. Visitation was held Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Maxie Young, Robert Carl, Joe Young, John Ham-ilton, Roy Young, and Will Heitman.

Alma Jean Forse

Funeral services for Alma Jean Forse, 73, of Jasper were held 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 7, 2004 at Ebenezer Baptist Church. Burial followed at Homer Cemetery. Visitation was held from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6 at the funeral home.
Alma died Nov. 4, at Lufkin Memorial Hospital in Lufkin. A native and lifelong resident of Jasper, she was a member of the Jasper Jewels. She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church. Mrs. Forse taught high school business classes.
Survivors include two daughters, Charlotte Barker of Woodville and Billie Joyce Brunson of Jasper; seven grandchildren, Elise Beddingfield, Amy Barker, Kimberly Barker, Sylvia Beddingfield, Daniel Beddingfield, Andrew Beddingfield and April Beddingfield.
In lieu of flowers, the family requested that memorials be made to the Jasper Humane Society, PO Box 1104, Jasper, TX. 75951.

Glen Alton Davis
Glen Alton Davis, 59, of Woodville, passed away Monday, Nov. 8, 2004 at his residence.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, Nov. 10 at 10 a.m. in the Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home Chapel in Woodville with burial in Camp Ruby Cemetery in Dallardsville. Officiating will be Brother George Mack Standley. Serving as pallbearers are Johnny Anderson, Joe Anderson, Charles Alpers, Charles Barr, Charlie Brown and James Johnston.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, Nov. 9 from 5 -9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Glen was born Feb. 11, 1945 to Charlie and Winnie Daigle Davis in Warren. He was a lifelong resident of Tyler County and was a member of Caney Creek Baptist Church.
He is survived by his sisters and brothers-in-law, Lou Ella and Carlos Barr of Woodville, Barbara and Fred Alpers of Rye and Melba and John Harper of New Braunfels; nieces and nephews.
