Webb Wilson Ashworth, 71, of Woodville, left this earth August 22, 2004.
Funeral services will be held at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home, Wednesday, Aug. 25 at 11 a.m. with Masonic graveside services at Magnolia Cemetery, Woodville.
Visitation was held at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 24 at the funeral home.
Webb was born Dec. 21, 1932 to Johnnie E. and Hazel Lowrie Ashworth in Peachtree Village, Chester, Tyler County. He served in law enforcement for 12 years, was vice-president and loan officer of Citizens State Bank, Woodville; President of Bank of East  Texas, Chester; and at the time of his death was employed by Allison Chevrolet, Woodville. His extensive community service included serving as Director and President of the Tyler County Chamber of Commerce; President, Area Bankers Association; President, Director and Zone Chairman, Woodville Lions Club; Director, Deep East  Texas Council of Governments; Director, Tyler County Dogwood Festival (received J. E. Wheat Award); Woodville City Council; Woodville Housing Authority; Area Go- Texas Committee for Houston Livestock Show; Leader, Boy Scouts of America; President and Secretary, Turkey Creek Hunting Club. He was a member of the Magnolia Masonic Lodge #495, Woodville; Scottish Rite, 32 Degree, Houston; Shriner, Arabia Temple, Houston.
He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife, Noncie Lane Ashworth of Woodville; one brother, John E. Ashworth of Woodville; three children, Cynthia Vaughn of Kingsland, Lisa Best of Colorado Springs, CO, David Ashworth of Houston, and two step children, Alan Barton of Granbury, and Kathi Hensarling of Woodville; 19 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and one devoted animal companion, Senja.
Services are under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Woodville.

Eugene Max Griffin
October 4, 2004
Funeral services for Eugene Max Griffin, 64, of Fred, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 25, 2004 at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee with interment at Franks Branch Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Eugene died September 22, 2004 at Tyler County Hospital in Woodville,  Texas.
He was a native of Wauchula, Florida and longtime resident of Fred. Eugene was a veteran of the US Army, a retired reserve deputy of Tyler County Sheriff’s Department and a Sgt-At-Arms for American Legion Post 44 of Silsbee. He was a member of the Beaumont Chapter of the DAV and also of the Beaumont Chapter J of Honda’s GWRRA.
Survivors include wife, Sharon Griffin of Fred; two sons, father, Bill Braddy of Frankfurt, KY and a host of friends and relatives.

Lenard Wayne Reagan

Lenard Wayne Reagan, 57, of Colmesneil passed away September 15, 2004 at the V. A. Hospital in Houston.
Born July 30, 1947 in Clovis, New Mexico to Lenard and Dorotha Davis Reagan, he lived in Tyler County for many years. He was a truck driver and an U. S. Army Veteran.
He is survived by his son, J. W. Reagan; daughter, Brandy L. Reagan; sister, Linda Dubose of Colmesneil; brother, Gary Reagan of Colmesneil; and a host of family members and friends.
A graveside service was held Monday, Sept. 20 at 10 a.m. at Gregory Cemetery in Colmesneil with Brother Ray Strange officiating.
Services were entrusted to Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County.

Earline Dedman
October 4, 2004
Earline Dedman, 79, of Woodville, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2004 at Tyler County Hospital in Woodville.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Sept. 25 at 2 p.m. in the Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home Chapel in Woodville with burial in Fairview Cemetery near Woodville. Officiating was Brother Paul Boughan. Serving as pallbearers were Gary Vann, Roger McGee, Jim Gunter, Thomas Eller, Mike Green and Jamie Saim.
Visitation was held on Friday, Sept. 24 from 5 - 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Earline was born April 30, 1925 to Homer and Nellie Bishop Eubanks in Smackover, Arkansas. She was a longtime resident of Woodville. She had worked many years ago at Pope’s Department Store in Jasper.
She was preceded in death by her husband, A. L. Dedman. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, James A. and Rita Dedman of Pollock, LA; granddaughters, Stacy Finley, Lisa Havis and Amy Hubert; grandson, Chad Grantham and wife Tonya; great granddaughters, Emily Ainsworth, Erin Finley and Haley Smith; and great grandson, Cameron Havis.
Services were under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home Woodville.

Dan Moody Mckee
October 4, 2004
Dan Moody Mckee, 74, of Livingston, died Thursday, September 23, 2004 at Memorial Health System of East  Texas in Lufkin.
He is survived by his wife Thelma Mckee of Livingston, Kevin L. Mckee (son) of Lovelady, Amanda Mckee (granddaughter) of Lovelady, Kimberly Mckee (granddaughter) of Lovelady, Curtis L. Mckee and Beverly (brother and sister-in-law) of Warren, Minnie Jacobs Owen (Mother-in-law) of Livingston, Margie Mckee (sister-in-law) of Woodville, Pat Mckee (sister-in-law) of Groveton, Mike Jacobs and Patsy (brother-in-law and wife) of Moscow, Mary Moore and Putney (sister-in-law and husband) of Livingston, Debbie Clack and Charlie (sister-in-law and husband) of Livingston, Linda Jacobs (sister-in-law) of Livingston, Brenda Jacobs (sister-in-law) of Livingston; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bill Mckee and his mother, Clara Reid Mckee, Buck Mckee (brother), J. V. Mckee (brother), Vernon Mckee (brother).
He was born May 15, 1930 in Colmesneil, the son of Bill and Clara Reid Mckee. Pallbearers were Mark Moore, David Moore, Martin Riley, Dennis Johnson, Kenneth Mckee, and Casey Mckee. He served in the Army during Korean Conflict having attained the rank of CPL.
Visitation was held at Cochran Funeral Home on Saturday from 5 - 8 p.m.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Sept. 26 at 3 p.m. at Cochran Funeral Home with Brother John Page officiating. Burial followed at Peebles Cemetery in Livingston.

Elzie Edwards
October 4, 2004
The blessed and fruitful life of Mr. Elzie Edwards, 93, of Zavalla ended when God called his faithful servant home on September 24, 2004 at the Colonial Pines Health Care Center in San Antonio. A Celebration of Life will be on Saturday, Oct. 2 at 12 noon at the Reed Chapel Baptist Church in San Augustine. His body will lay at rest til resurrection at the St. Luke Cemetery in San Augustine.
Elzie Edwards was born in San Augustine before moving to the Rock Wall Community in Zavalla. He was employed in the logging industry until his retirement.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories; daughters, Wanda Jean Williams and Georgia Ann Dixon both of Lufkin and Gladys Matthews of Kountze; sons, Lovell Edwards of San Augustine, and Elroy Edwards of Lufkin; sister-in-law, Annie Mae Holman of San Augustine; brother-in-law, Arthur Davis of Lufkin; 37 grandchildren; 97 great-grandchildren and 39 great-great grandchildren.
Services entrusted to Coleman’s Tyler County Funeral Home in Woodville.

Gerald Wayne Freeman

Gerald Wayne Freeman, 65, of Beaumont passed away Sept. 25, 2004 at his residence after a long illness.
Born Nov. 25, 1936 in Colmesneil to Clarence Freeman and Saddie Odna Sturrock Beaumont, he lived in Beaumont for many years. He was a truck driver for Local #120 Teamsters and a Navy Veteran.
Gerald was preceded in death by his father, Henry Clarence Freeman.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Roma Day Freeman; mother, Odna Sturrock Freeman Beaumont of Vidor; sons, Tracy Freeman of Newton, Jackie Freeman of Call, Wayne Freeman of Dallas, Kenneth Meswerth of Houston and John William Hurst of Lamesa; daughters, Diane Freeman of Missouri, Karon Kay Hurst of Lumberton and Brandy Michelle Duhon of Kaplen; two sisters, Nelda Lois Freeman of Beaumont and Eloise Freeman of Vidor; eighteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
A graveside service was held Tuesday, Sept. 28 at Mann Cemetery near Colmesneil with Brother Mike Sanford officiating. Visitation was held Monday at the funeral home.
Services were entrusted to Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County.

Doris Louise Chitwood
October 4, 2004
Services for Doris Louise Chitwood, 66, of Lufkin will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Gipson-Metcalf Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Blackie Cranford officiating. Interment will follow in the  Whitehouse Cemetery.
Mrs. Chitwood was born August 30, 1938 in Chester, the daughter of the late Ruby (Barclay) and Albert Jordan. She passed away Sunday, September, 26 2004, in a local hospital.
Mrs. Chitwood had been employed with  Texas Foundries’ front office for more than 40 years. She retired a year ago. She enjoyed her work and the relationships and friends that she made there. She also loved to travel and spend time with her family and friends. Mrs. Chitwood was a member of Chestnut Drive Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Leonard Plant of Livermore, California; beloved grandchildren, Amanda and Lindsay; brothers and sisters-in-law, Clayton and Nada Jordan of Chester and Truman and Ann Jordan of Crosby; sister-in-law, Thelma Fannett of Tomball; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, C. L. and Naomi Beck of Lufkin; and number of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Chitwood was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Chitwood on March 20, 1991.
Pallbearers will be Mark Jordan, Duane Jordan, Martin Fanett, John Phillips, Leslie Rhodes and Ruben Terrazas.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 212 Gene Samford Drive, Lufkin,  Texas 75904.
The family received friends from 6 - 8 p.m. on Tuesday evening at the Gipson-Metcalf Funeral Home in Lufkin.

LaVada Reeveas Burks
October 4, 2004
LaVada Reeveas Burks, 56, of Many, LA passed away September 25, 2004 in Lufkin after a lengthy battle with cancer.
She lived in Woodville where she worked for the  Texas Department of Corrections Gib Lewis Unit as a teacher.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Calvin and LaVerne Reeveas.
She is survived by her daughter, LaVada Brooks Edmondson and husband, Steve of Tampa, FL; sister, Belinda Sue Shofner of Lamesa and nephew, Hunter Shofner of Lubbock.
Funeral service was held Monday, Sept. 27 at 10 a.m. at the Sardis Baptist Church with Reverend Wendell Sellers officiating under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral home of Famerville, LA. Burial followed at Sardis Cemetery. Visitation was held Sunday at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers were Wayne Giddens, Mark Ledford, Steve Edmondson, Hunter Shofner, Von Grant, Scott Harrison and Stanley Redden.
Services were under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Farmerville, LA.

Irwin F. Grillot
October 4, 2004
Irwin F. Grillot, 79, of Woodville, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2004 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Sept. 26 at 2 p.m. in the Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home Chapel in Woodville with burial in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery near Woodville. Officiating was Deacon George Brignac. Serving as pallbearers were Mark Haferenick, Phillip Pate, Cody Pate Grillot, Sambo Martin, Steve Arbour, Tommy Bonneval, Jimmy Bonneval, Skip Grillot and Russel Grillot. Honorary pallbearers were Roy Peterson, Charles Bossier, Paul Sundin, Eric Krumm, Bill Krick, Joe Shaw and Oscar Clayton.
Visitation was held Saturday, Sept. 25 from 5 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Irwin was born November 13, 1924 to Sidney L. and Marian Gerard Grillot in New Orleans, LA. He was a longtime resident of Woodville and was a retired forester having worked with several timber companies including W. T. Carter and Champion International. He was a U. S. Marine Corps. WWII/Korean Conflict veteran.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Janice Marie Grillot in 1984 and his sister, Lois Bonneval. He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Ettie Marie Grillot of Woodville; son, Charles Grillot of Lumberton; daughter and son-in-law, Missy and Chris Beach of Beaumont; step sons, Douglas Wayne and Bobbie Young and James Young all of Livingston; brothers and sisters-in-law, Sidney L. “Mike” Jr. and Mimsy Grillot and Charles Marion “Pete” and Marian Grillot all of New Orleans; five grandchildren Cody Grillot, Tracy Grillot, Jaime Adams, Henry Beach and Sarah Beach; and five step grandchildren, Lisa  White, Paula Ashen, Sheryl Lawrence, Bobby Wayne Young and Randi Nicole Young.
Services were under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Woodville.
