Gordon LaFayette Lewis, 88, of Corrigan passed away April 21, 2004 at his home.
Born Nov. 25, 1915 in Barnum, to Will and Pearl Bryant Lewis, he lived in Nederland for 25 years before moving back to the Barnum and Chester area. He was a retired operator for Arco Polymers with 25 years of service and a World War II Air Force Veteran.
Mr. Lewis was survived by his daughter, Glenda Newton and husband, Conrad of Barnum; son, Will "Bill" Lewis and wife, Brenda of Jasper; grandchildren, Heidi Newton Lewis, David Newton, Will Nathan Lewis, Jr. and Summer Mires.
Funeral services was held Saturday, April 24, at 10 a.m. at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Norman Turner and Brother Raymond Wallace officiating. Burial followed at Pine Grove Cemetery in Barnum. Visitation was held Friday evening at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers were David Newton, Will N. Lewis, Jr., Wendall Hart, Jack Pate, Lewis Nowlins and R. L. Bryant.
Memorials may be made to the Pine Grove Cemetery or Sunny Glenn Children's Home, P. O. Box 1373, San Benito, TX. 78586.

Elizabeth Best Cook, 93, of Evadale passed away April 19, 2004 at the Silsbee Convalescent Center Nursing Home.
Born in Yugoslavia to Tony and Ann Stimac, she lived in Woodville for many years before moving to Evadale. She was a homemaker and a member of Our Lady of the Pines Catholic Church in Woodville.
Mrs. Cook is survived by her daughter Betty Havens and husband, Ed of Evadale; son, French Earl Best and wife, Sara of Lumberton; sister, Ann Vyvial of Rosenburg; brothers, Maxie E. Stimac of Nederland and James Stimac of Orange; sisters-in-law, Bobbie Stimac of Lumberton, Freddie Stimac of Orangefield, Corinne Stimac of Tuscony, Arizona and Johnnie Mae Best of Woodville; five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and four great, great grandchildren.
A graveside service was held Wednesday, April 21, at 2 p.m. at the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Woodville. Visitation was held Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
Funeral services were entrusted to Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County.

Don Webb, 59, of Warren passed away, Saturday, July 24, 2004 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 27 at 2 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Warren with burial in Allison Cemetery near Warren under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home. Officiating was Brother Mark Smith, pastor of First Baptist Church of Warren. Serving as pallbearers were Harold Hatton, Bruce Hickman, Ray Wilson, Billy Fondren, R. L. Mitchell and David Standley.
Visitation was held on Monday, July 26 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Don was born January 1, 1945 to Birva E. and Charline Webb in Commerce. He was employed in law enforcement and security for over twenty years and was retired from the Sherriff’s Department in Lubbock. He had lived in Warren for several years and was a member of the First Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his father Birva Webb. He is survived by his wife, Gisela Webb of Warren; daughter and son-in-law, Tammie and Eric Matthews of Albuquerque, NM; stepsons and daughter-in-law, James and Kara Ashley of Carlsbad, NM and Kenneth Ashley of Irving; mother, Charline Webb of Warren; sister, Birline Young of Warren; 5 grandchildren, Kylee, Bradaen, Eleanor, Samuel and Matthew; niece, Cristi Kethen and husband Chris; 2 nephews, Cary Young and Phillip Young.
Services were under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Woodville.
Emma Pauline ‘Polly’ Durham

Emma Pauline “Polly” Durham, 83, of Warren, passed away Thursday, July 29, 2004 at Tyler County Hospital. Born December 19, 1920 to Samuel and Nannie May McGuffie Tillotson in Willis Point. She lived in Groves for many years before moving to Warren. She was a life long member of Primative Baptist Church and an active member of Fellowship Primative Baptist in Warren.
Funeral services was held 2 p.m. Monday at Riley Funeral Chapel in Woodville with Bro. Gerald Read officiating. Burial followed at Fellowship Cemetery in Warren.
Mrs. Durham was preceded in death by her husband, J. C. Durham and three brothers John Hamilton Tillotson, D. W. Tillotson, and Edward Glenn Tillotson. She is survived by her son, Edward Glenn Durham and wife Wendy of Mauriceville; daughter, Deborah Durham of Warren; granddaughters, Kim Durham of Austin, Shelley Parsons and husband Brad of Fred, and Kristie Young and husband Will of Wildwood; four great grandchildren, numerous relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were Will Young, Brad Parsons, Wayne Durham, Bruce Durham, Harlan Durham and Iverson Read. Honorary pallbearers were Willis Durham, Coleman Young, Tommy Breaux, Scott Statum, Leslie Rhades, Lane Rhodes, Harold Statum and Billy Dale Read.
Services were entrusted to Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County.
Irene Nelson Dainwood

Irene Nelson Dainwood, age 86, of Woodville, took the hand of her Lord and Savior and departed this life on August 1, 2004 in Jasper.
Irene was born in Merryville, LA. on March 4, 1918. She was preceded in death by her mother Ola Moffett Nelson and father Phil Nelson; Circy Dainwood, her loving husband of 58 years; sisters Doris Young and Leola. Survived by sisters Lois Nelson of Huntsville, and Marquerite Allen of Lake Charles, LA; brother-in-law, Clem Young of Beeville; nephew James E. Fuller and wife Rue of Town Bluff in addition to several nieces and nephews; a loving church family and many special friends.
Irene spent her early years in Bessmay and Silsbee where she was employed by Pure Oil known now as UNOCAL. Irene was an active member of Central Gardens Baptist Church in Nederland, where she taught Sunday School and was church pianist.
Upon retirement, Irene and Circy moved to the Dam-B area of Woodville where they spent the remainder of their years. Irene continued to actively serve her Lord Jesus Christ at Fairview Baptist Church where she taught the Dorcas Sunday School Class and was church pianist for many years.
Visitation was held Tuesday, August 3 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Riley Funeral Home in Woodville. Funeral services will be officiated by Bro. Doyle Butcher and Bro. John Spanhanks and will be held at Fairview Baptist Church at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 4, followed by burial at Antioch Cemetery in Buna.
Serving as pallbearers will be Billy Crozier, Derek Crozier, Bill Havard, Johnny Horton, Bo Willis and Larry Walden. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Dorcas Sunday School Class.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Fairview Baptist Church, 1341 FM 92, Woodville, Tx. 75979 designated Pew Upholstery Fund or to a charity of choice.

Patrick “Pat” Gayland Finley, 54, of Woodville passed away July 31, 2004 at his home.
Born August 14, 1949 in Gridly, California to Ray Morris and Nadine Queener Finely. He lived in Woodville for many years. He was retired technician for Exxon.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dede Finley.
He is survived by his daughters, Molly Finley, Mackenzie Finley and Megan Finley all of Sour Lake and Laura Arnold of Hebert, LA; brother, Michael Finley of Baton Rouge, LA; and other family members and friends.
Funeral service was held Tuesday, Aug. 3, at 2 p.m. at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Jeff Lowe officiating. Burial to follow at Egypt Cemetery near Colmesneil. Visitation was held Monday evening at the Riley Funeral Home.

Ouida “Wedie” Pierce Brian, passed away Aug. 1, 2004 at her residence in Woodville. She was born on Aug. 4, 1909 to Morgan W. Pierce and Anna Killingsworth Pierce in Goldonna, LA. She was preceded in death by her husband, R. B. Brian and her son Charles Brian.
Survivors include her three daughters and sons-in-law, Juanita Protz and Carl Protz of Woodville, Marilou Anselm O. and Russell Anselmo of Baton Rouge, LA, and Sue Kelsey and Dale Kelsey of Casa Grande, Arizona; along with 14 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Aug. 3 at 7 p.m. at Forest Oaks Funeral Home in Jasper, burial will follow on Wednesday, Aug 4 at 10 a.m. at Centuries Memorial Park in Shreveport, LA. Visitation was held on Tuesday, Aug. 3 from 5 p.m. until service time.
Services were under the direction of Forest Oaks Funeral Home of Jasper.

Glenn A. ‘Champ’ Hendershot
Glenn A. “Champ” Hendershot, 76, of South Pasadena, Florida formerly of Houston died Tuesday, July 20, 2004 at Tampa General Hospital.
Born in Detroit, Michigan he moved to Florida in 2003 from Houston. He was a Healthcare Therapist. A Jehovah Witness, an Ordained Minister and formerly was a professional Boxer.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Dolores; son, Randy of Woodville; two daughters, Linda Logan of Katy and Glenda Kramer of West Columbia; five brothers, Murell of Detroit, Michigan; Ray of Ft. Pierce, Florida, Earl, Ivan and Leon all of Boca Raton, Florida; two sisters, Colleen Bailey of West Palm Beach, Florida and Iris Ashburn of Tampa, Florida; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren.
Services were under the direction of Beach Memorial Chapel of St. Pete Beach, Florida.
Ray Young
Ray Young passed away Sunday, July 25, 2004.
He is a two time veteran of the Korean War and World War II. He served our country with pride for years. He worked on the base for 30 years as a sheet metal worker. He is preceded in death by parents Dallas and Katie Young of Woodville; one son, Dallas Young of Corpus Christi.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Ruby Young; two sons, Loyd (Linda) Young, Glen Young; five grandchildren; Naomi (Matt) Ramon, Mistie Young, Brian Young, Ray Allen Young, Jessica Marie Young; five great grandchildren Aryiah Ramon, Eddie Ray, Amie Ray, Katie Downs, and Joshua Ramon.
Pallbearers will be as follows, Brian Young, Ray Allen Young, Jessie Ray, Falko Bucannon, Ronnie Goodmen, and Mike Morrow.
Visitation was held Tuesday, July 27 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral service will be at Gardendale Baptist Church on Wednesday, July 28 at 3 p.m. Interment will follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
Services are under the direction of Seaside Memorial Park in Corpus Christi.
