EDGAR NEUMANN

Edgar Neumann, age 77, of the Otto, Riesel area entered into rest on Thursday, April16, 2009. Services will be 4 p.m. Sunday, April 19 at Grace Lutheran Church in Marlin with the Rev. Gerald Epperson officiating. Burial will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 6 until 8 p.m. at Adams Funeral Home.
Edgar was born February 17, 1932 in Falls County to Robert and Clara Drews Neumann. He was a rancher and retired from Falls County after 14 years of service. He was a lifelong resident of Falls County, a life member of Grace Lutheran Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He loved traveling, all sports, was a master carpenter, but most of all loved his family with all his heart. He was a loving caring husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife, Ella Mae Neumann of Otto; daughters, Cynthia Dees and husband John of Marlin, Linda Vanek of Bellmead; L.D. Neumann and wife Irene of Riesel, Raymond Neumann and wife Dareatha of Riesel; sisters, Frieda Kunkel of Marlin, Erna Feldmann of Marlin, Florine Pankonien and husband R.D. of Waco; granddaughter, Melissa Witcher and husband Andy of Lampasas; grandsons, Matthew Dees and wife Amanda of Waco, Mitchell Dees of Marlin, Heath Vanek of Hewitt, Adam Vanek and wife Tanya of Bellmead; great-grandchildren, Brady, Hunter and Garret Witcher, Austin and Elijah Vanek.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Dees, Mitchell Dees, Heath Vanek, Adam Vanek, Andy Witcher and Larry Neumann.

GEORGIA BETHEL
Rosebud resident
Georgia Taylor Bethel, of Rosebud, died Monday April 20, 2009 in a Temple Hospital.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Friday in Cook-Gerngross-Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Rosebud. Dr. Carl Jennings Jr. officiating. Burial followed in Woodland Cemetery In Rosebud.
Mrs. Bethel was born near Rosebud in Falls County to James J. and Cora Clark Taylor. She lived in Rosebud most of her life. She graduated from Rosebud High School and attended Sam Houston State University. She married Mat S. Bethel. She taught at Powers Chapel and Pleasant Grove Schools. She was a member of the Lott Chapter #594 Order of the Eastern Star and the Thursday Bridge Club in Rosebud. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Rosebud.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
She is survived by one son, James Bethel of Rosebud; one niece, one grand nephew, anf four grand nieces.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church in Rosebud or the Woodland Cemetery Association.
There was no formal visitation.
IMOGENE PIERSON

Imogene Leach Pierson, 100, passed away Monday, Nov. 23, 2009, in Austin, Texas. Graveside services will be 12 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, at Calvary Cemetery in Marlin. Visitation will be 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, at Adams Funeral Home, 129 Coleman Street in Marlin.
Imogene was born May 13, 1909, in Big Hill, Texas, to Robert Hall Leach, MD and Bessie May Wilkin. She was married to Edwin Gray "Blondy" Pierson, of Marlin. Imogene and Edwin were members of the First United Methodist Church of Marlin.
Her parents; husband; brothers, Welch, Judson and Hollis; sister Mozelle; and her son, Robert Leach Pierson, preceded her in death.
She is survived by her daughter, Lynn Smith of Lakeway, Texas; son, Edwin G. Pierson Jr., of Houston; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Danny E. Walton

Danny E. Walton, 71, of Colmesneil, passed away on Jan. 2, 2004 at his residence.
Dan was born May 2, 1932 to John Glen and Willie Charlene Walton of McLeod. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Marine Corp. He was a veteran of the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Walton of Colmesneil; 2 sons: Danny Jr and wife Brenda of Lafayette, La., and Tracy Walton and wife Tracy Walton, of Magnolia; 1 daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Pat Hays of Houston; step-children: Sonja Blotz of Houston, Kim Garza of Blanco and Cindy Forte of Haslet; 12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; two brothers: Ned Walton of Bryan and Bill Walton of The Woodlands and 3 sisters: LaVern Goin of Eagle Point, Oregon; Ann Davis of McLeod, and Nell Weisinger of Longview.
Arrangements were held under the direction of McGuire Funeral Home in Vivian, LA. Graveside services were held at the Walton Cemetery in McLeod on Jan. 4, 2004 at 2 p.m.
Charles Eugene Owens

Charles Eugene Owens, 59, of Colmesneil, passed away Monday, Jan. 19, 2004 in Lufkin.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 22 at 11 a.m. in the Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home Chapel in Woodville with burial in Colmesneil Cemetery. Officiating was Brother Tony Pangle and Brother Teddy Minyard. Serving as pallbearers were Kevin Owens, Bill Bailey, Mark Landrum, Jimmy Davis, Richard Sutton and Bill Williams. Honorary pallbearers were Brian Swint, Jimmy Dan Mahan and Justin Williams.
Visitation was held Wednesday, Jan. 21 from 5 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Charles was born Aug. 20, 1944 to Floyd Lesley and Verna Doris Landrum Owens in Colmesneil. He had been a truck driver for Midnight Express and was a U. S. Army veteran. He graduated from Colmesneil High School in 1962 and was a member of First Baptist Church of Colmesneil. He was very supportive of his son, grandchildren and family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd Owens and brothers, William Guy Owens and Royce Lee Owens. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Dom and Janis Owens of Lufkin; grandchildren, Kade Owens and Shelby Owens of Lufkin; mother, Verna Owens of Colmesneil; brother and sister-in-law, Lesley and Jeannie Owens of Colmesneil; sister, Laverne Owens of Colmesneil; sister-in-law, LaQuita Owens of Silsbee; nephew, Kevin Owens and wife Cheryl and daughter Lacie of Silsbee; nieces, Shana Williford and husband Rhett and son Kurt of Pt. Neches, Angie Bailey and husband Bill and daughter, Summer of Colmesneil; Danyel Swint and husband, Brian of Houston.

Floyd D. Inman

Floyd D. Inman, 81, of Warren passed away on Friday, Jan. 23, 2004 at Tyler County Hospital in Woodville.
Funeral services were Sunday, Jan. 25 at 3 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Warren with burial in Allison Cemetery. Officiating were Brother Mark Smith and Brother Kenneth Cauthen. Serving as pallbearers were; B. J. Elliott, Windom Elliott, Danny Todd, Vernon White, Billy Fondren and Tim Knight.
Floyd was born Jan. 2, 1923 to David and Agnes Inman in Smackover, Arkansas. He was a World War II veteran serving in the Army/Air Force and was Postmaster in Warren for 31 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Warren.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jewel Inman; daughters and sons-in-law Judy and Mike Holick of Bryan, Tomye Jo and Mike Gardner of Show Low, Arizona; sister, Violet Wethington of Arlington; 4 grandchildren, Christina and husband, Danny Todd of Angleton, Heather and husband, Vernon White of Houston, B. J. and wife, Cheree Elliott of Warren, Windom and wife, Farah Elliott of Shreveport, Louisiana; 3 great grandchildren, Nicholas, Gavin and Carley Elliott; 2 step-great grandchildren, Kyle and Cody Adams.

Michael Wayne Talbert

Michael Wayne Talbert (Gizmo), 53, of Woodville, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 11, 2004 at Woodville.
Graveside services were held Thursday, Jan. 15 at 2 p.m. at Carlisle Cemetery with Reverend Harry LaGrane officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Michael Talbert II, Professor Girod, R. C. A., Slowpoke Rokes, Louie Woodall, Ed Quebodeaux. Honorary pallbearer was Just Vern.
Michael was born May 10, 1950 in Tyler, Texas. He was a member of Universal Life Church.
Survivors include his wife, Rowena Tipton Talbert of Woodville; son, Michael Wayne Talbert II of Woodville; daughter, Michelle Lee of Ardmore, OK; brother, Eddie Price of Kilgore; five grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.
Services were under the direction of Groveton Funeral Home in Groveton, Texas.
Woods Allen, Sr.
February 2, 2004
Woods Allen, Sr., 85, passed away Monday, Jan. 19, 2004 in his Colmesneil residence. Woods was a native of New Orlean where he was a 1935 graduate of Fortier High School. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy serving in the CB's where he was a shipfitter 2nd class. Woods loved all outdoor hunting and fishing activities and was a member of Piney Woods Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Ann Allen Sumrall of Fred; two sons, Owen Eugene Allen and Woods Wilkinson Allen, Jr., both of Metairie, Louisiana and three grandchildren.
Memorial services were held Saturday, Jan. 24.

Max K. Sniffen

Max K. Sniffen, a 26 year resident of Woodville, died Jan. 1, 2004 in a Bossier City, La., nursing facility. He was 93. Born in Nelsonville, Ohio, on Dec. 2, 1910, he grew up in Ohio and West Virginia and earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from Ohio State University in 1932. He started working at the Pure Oil Co.'s Chicago headquarters office in 1934 and married Alice P. Wells on March 25, 1940. During World War II he served in the U. S. Army and was posted to Saipan at the end of the war. After the war they moved to Beaumont and he was a personnel manager for Pure Oil's Smiths Bluff Refinery in Port Neches until his retirement in 1971. He then began a second career as management instructor, first at the University of Arkansas and then for five years at Lamar University, from which he had earlier earned a master's degree in business administration. Sniffen moved to Woodville in 1974 and his first wife, Alice, died the following year. In 1977 he married Helen C. Jackson of Bethesda, MD., and they divided their retirement years between her Maryland home and Woodville. Helen died in 2002.
He is survived by three sons, Bob Sniffen of San Diego, Calif, Bill Sniffen of Haughton, LA., and John Sniffen of Richmond, VA.; four grandchildren, Parker Sniffen of Chapel Hill, N. C., Amanda Schaffer of Shreveport, LA, Blythe Sniffen of Austin, and Rachel Sniffen of San Diego, Calif; and three great grandchildren.
A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Feb. 1 at First Christian Church of Woodville under the direction of Riley Funeral Home. Memorial gifts may be made to the cause or institution of the donor's choice.
Arvie Dale Winters

Spurger-- Memorial services were held for Arvie Dale Winters, 54, at 10 a.m. Jan. 26, 2004 at Riley Funeral Home Chapel. She passed away Jan. 23, 2004 at her residence.
She was born May 18, 1949 in Doucette, to Artie Curtis Winters and Fordee Lee.
She was an aircraft mechanic and a homemaker.
Survivors include her children, Sean Sisk of Spurger, Shea Sisk of Dallas, Scott Ward and William Ward both of Spurger; sisters, Florence Moses of Warren, Geneva Winters of Louisiana, Jeanette Winters of New York and Debbie Powell of Houston; brothers, Art Winters of Crockett, J. T. Winters of Woodville, Alber Winters of Crockett, Earl Winters of Colmesneil and Paul Winters of Florida; grandchildren, Dustin Stevens, Austin Sisk, Ashley Sisk, Anielle Sisk, Lexas Ward and Madison Danielle Ward.
Services were under the direction of Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County.
Andrew Martin

Andrew Martin, 67, of Colmesneil passed away, Jan. 22, 2004 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.
Born Oct. 21, 1936 in Etoile, to Lee and Hazel Currie Martin. He lived in Colmesneil for thirty years. He was a self employed carpenter and a member of Shawnee Church in Huntington.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Gabriel Michael Barnes.
Mr. Martin is survived by his loving wife, Billie Martin; daughters, Suzanne Parrish, Darlena Martin and Dorothy Lynette Lyon and husband, Craig all of Colmesneil; son, Andrew Martin, Jr. and wife, Becky of Colmesneil; brothers, Lester Martin of Shepherd, Ike Martin of Lufkin, Bobby Wayne Martin of Huntington and Roy Gene Martin of Spurger; sisters, Fannie Mae Martin of Tyler and Betty Lou Martin, Annie Lee Thomas and Alice Faye Carty all of Town Bluff; and ten grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Jan. 25, at 2 p.m. at Shawnee Church in Huntington with Brother Cary Modisett officiating. Burial followed at Colmesneil City Cemetery. Visitation was held Saturday at the church.
Serving as pallbearers were Pat Hogan, Charles Ross, Jr., Junior Moore, Alton Howard, Edward Earl Martin and Herman Thomas.
Services were under the direction of Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County.
