ANTON R. OTTO
Funeral services for Anton R. Otto, 83, of Inez were held Friday, Feb. 18, 2000, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Victoria with Msgr. James Brunner and the Rev. Benton Thurmond officiating. Interment followed in Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home of Victoria.
Mr. Otto died Feb. 15. Born June 7, 1916, in Silverhill, Ala. to the late Henry and Agnes Provasek Otto, he was a farmer and cattleman in Victoria and Jackson counties and a former member of the Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Inez.
Survivors include his wife, Agnes Stary Otto, Inez; daughters, Jeanene Tipton, California, and Sandra Pena, Victoria; son, Donald G. Otto, Lyons; brothers, Ennis Otto, Houston, and Alfred Otto, Victoria; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by parents; daughter, Jeanette Otto Wearden; sisters, Agnes Stockbauer and Lucy Miners; and brothers, John Otto, Henry Otto, Emil Otto and Richard Otto.
Pallbearers were Bobbie Stary, Joe Leita, John Swanson, Ronnie Otto, Joe Otto and James Maraggia.

Funeral services for Steve Edward Garcia Sr., 55, of Stockdale were held Friday, Feb. 18, 2000, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Victoria. Interment followed at Guadalupe Cemetery in Hocheim under the direction of McCabe-Carruth Funeral Home of Victoria.
Mr. Garcia died Feb. 15. Born Feb. 12, 1945, in Shiner to Esther Garcia and the late Victor Garcia Sr., he was a welder and a Catholic. He was an honorably discharged Vietnam veteran having served from 1964-68.
Survivors include daughters, Linda Sue De Los Santos and Angela Marie Garcia, Rosenberg; son, Steve Edward Garcia Jr., Rosenberg; sisters, Lydia Nieto, Moulton, Frances De Leon, Houston, Connie Lopez, Yoakum, Adela Matthews, Ganado, and Esther Contreras, Victoria; brothers, Gumesindo Garcia, Houston, Joe R. Garcia Sr., Victoria, and Victor Garcia Jr., Shiner; and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Victor Garcia, David Garcia, Michael Garcia, Gumesindo Garcia Jr., victor Garcia III, and Joe Garcia Sr.

ROY MONTALVO
Funeral services for Roy Montalvo, 35, of Wadsworth were held Monday, Feb. 28, 2000, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church of Wadsworth with the Rev. Edward Boren officiating. Interment followed at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck under the direction of Taylor Bros. Funeral Home.
Mr. Montalvo died Feb. 25. Born June 2, 1964, in Bay City, to Raymond and Maria Ramos Montalvo of Wadsworth, he was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
Survivors include parents; sisters, Maria McLane and Suse Gussman, both of El Campo, Juanita McLane, Ganado, and Mona Medina, Bay City.
CHRISTINA R. GISLER
Funeral services for Christina Renee Gisler, 23, of Point Comfort are set for 11 a.m. Thursday, March 2, 2000, at Richardson Funeral Home Chapel in Port Lavaca with the Rev. Casey DeBOse officiating. Graveside services will follow at 2 p.m. at Mission Valley Cemetery under the direction of the funeral home.
She died Feb. 27. Born Dec. 1, 1976, in Port Lavaca to Curtis Gisler of Westhoff and Michelle Hines Gisler of Moody, she was an operator at Inteplast and a member of First Baptist Church of Point Comfort. She attended Calhoun High School.
Survivors include parents; a son, Dalton Daughtery, LaWard; brothers, Daniel Allen Gisler, La Ward, and Charles Lee Gisler, Moody; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J.B. MYRTLE R. NEUMANN
Funeral services for Myrtle Reckaway Neumann, 90, of Edna are scheduled for Wednesday, March 1, 2000, at 10 a.m. at Baptist Temple Church of Edna with the Rev. Danny Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens of Edna under the direction of Slavik Funeral Home.
Mrs. Neumann died Feb. 28. Born Sept. 28, 1909, in Lavaca County, Texas to the late Samuel and Melinda Fuller Brown, she was a homemaker and a Baptist.
Survivors include daughters, Evelyn Utesey, Edna, Irene Blaylock, Louise, Bertha Kirchmer, San Antonio, and Eva Zbranek, Rockport; sons, Halton Reckaway, New Braunfels, Karl Reckaway, Ganado, and Eugene Reckaway, Charles Reckaway and Alfred Reckaway, all of Edna; brother, Ernest Brown, Sublime; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first and second husbands, Herman John Reckaway and Unfred Neumann; parents; and five sisters; four brothers; and three grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Johnnie Reckaway, Scott Reckaway, Trey Reckaway, Steve Sample, Carlton Utesey, Sammie Utesey, Larry Reckaway and JoJo Zbranek. Honorary pallbearers are Elizabeth Reckaway, Joyce McPherson, Casi Cornejo, Jennifer Sample, Terry Sample and Leslie Kirchmer.

Graveside services for Alma Lee Stockton, 91, of Webster were held Thursday, Feb. 24, 2000, at Ganado Cemetery with Elaine Fleming, M.D. officiating. Interment followed under the direction of Ganado Funeral Home.
Mrs. Stockton died Feb. 23. Born Aug. 20, 1908, in Wharton County to the late Roy Robinson and Edna Bankhead O’Briant, she was a homemaker and member of the Church of Christ.
She is survived by a sister, Ada Cain of Corpus Christi.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel P. Stockton Jr.
EUGENE ALVIN ARNING
Funeral services for Eugene Alvin Arning, 63, of Palacios, formerly of El Campo, were held Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2000, at Triska Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Jenkins officiating. Graveside services followed at Oak Knoll Cemetery in Bellville that afternoon with the Rev. Willard Rotter officiating.
Mr. Arning died Feb. 21. Born Sept. 25, 1936, to the late Arthur Arning Sr. and Nettie Loesch, he was a retired tool pusher having worked in the oil field for approximately 20 years before becoming co-owner of Arning Well Service with his brother.
He is survived by his wife, Tressie King Arning, Palacios; daughters, Susanne White and Gena A. Chapa, both of El Campo; sons, Kelton Arning, El Campo, and Michael Arning, Houston; sister, Frances Sims, Ganado; brothers, Aurthur Arning Jr. and Elwood Arning, both of Bellville; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Kelton Arning, Michael Arning, Erland Arning, Eric Arning, Bobby Sims and Larry Sims.
WESLEY R. PATTERSON
Funeral services for Wesley R. Patterson, 79, of Edna are set for 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 1, 2000, at Scruggs United Methodist Church in Edna with the Rev. Martin Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Sayles Cemetery under the direction of Slavik Funeral Home.
The body will lie in state from Tuesday morning at 9 a.m. until Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. at Slavik Funeral Chapel.
Mr. Patterson died Feb. 25. Born April 23, 1920, in Edna to the late Robert Patterson and Tummie M. Oakmon, he was a retired U.S. Army Specialist 5 and was a member of Scruggs United Methodist Church of Edna. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during World War II and the Korean War. He served from 1941-1968.
He is survived by a daughter, Crystal Patterson, Victoria; a sister, Esther N. Patterson Thomas, Houston; and brothers, Cecil L. Patterson, Durham, North Carolina, Frederick W. Patterson, Edna, Robert H. Patterson Jr., Salinas, Calif., and Jethro McElrath Patterson, Atlanta, Tx.
DOROTHY M.H. MARTIN
Graveside services for Dorothy Maxine Harris Martin, 82, of Edna were held Saturday, Feb. 26, 2000, at Red Bluff Cemetery with the Rev. Joe Wes Rubac officiating. Interment followed under the direction of Slavik Funeral Home of Edna.
Mrs. Martin died Feb. 25. Born Oct. 25, 1917, at Union, Ohio, to the late Charles Harris and Mary Ellen Pickett, she was a homemaker.
Survivors include daughters, Margaret Woodring, Edna, and Shirley Ann Curbello, George West; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Lorine Clay, 77, of Edna will be held Saturday, March 4, 2000, at Scruggs United Methodist Church with the Rev. Maurice Washington officiating. Interment will follow at Sayles Cemetery under the direction of Cook-Butler Funeral Home of Edna.
Mrs. Clay died Feb. 26. Born Dec. 25, 1922, in Edna to the late Frank Barnes and Ida Dennis Barnes, she was a homemaker and member of Scruggs United Methodist Church of Edna.
Survivors include her husband, A.B. Clay Jr., Edna; daughters, Doris Miller and Willie National, both of Edna; son, Johnny Ray Robinson, Houston; brother, Roosevelt Barnes, Edna; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Anthony and Dorian Miller, Sebert, Daryl and TaShambry National and Jeffery Robinson.
