Carol Roy Cottle, 87, of Rocksprings, Texas died November 27, 2005 at Uvalde Memorial Hospital in Uvalde, Texas. He was born October 6, 1918 in Fredericksburg, Texas to Roy Milton and Josephine Cottle.
Carol married Berniece Silvers on September 27, 1942 in New Braunfels, Texas. They moved to Rocksprings in 1943, where they continued ranching and raised their family.
He was preceded in death by his father Roy Milton Cottle, his mother Josephine Cosper Cottle, sister Ellie Cottle and brother Howard Cottle.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years Berniece Silvers Cottle of Rocksprings, Texas; three sons: Rodney Cottle and wife Carol Gene of Carrizo Springs, Texas; Robert Cottle and wife Cheryl of Rocksprings, Texas, Stan Cottle and wife Corrinne of Rocksprings; one sister, Vera Strentz; nine grandchildren: Jim Cottle and wife Rene, Katherine Cottle Letsinger and husband Cash, Kyra Cottle Marino and husband Clay, Kelcey Nicole Cottle, Travis Cade Cottle, Carol Roy Cottle, III and wife Judith, Lisa Cottle Bisig and husband Keith, Colby Allen Cottle and Kayla Cottle; six great grandchildren: Clay, Courtney and K’Leigh Cottle, Miranda and Ayland Letsinger and Whyatt Marino.
Services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, December 1, 2005 in the Nelson Funeral Home Chapel in Rocksprings, Texas with burial to follow in the Rocksprings Cemetery with Charles D. Baird officiating.
Pallbearers are: Carol Roy Cottle III, Travis Cade Cottle, Colby Allen Cottle, Jim Cottle, Clay Cottle, Clay Marino, Cash Letsinger, Keith Bisig and Jose Fregoso.

Earnest Hamilton Prather, 77, of Camp Wood died November 27, 2005. He was born September 15, 1928 in Corpus Christi, Texas. He married Hazel Green September 27, 1950 in Corpus Christi.
Ernest is survived by his wife, Hazel Prather of Camp Wood; daughters: Kathy Green of Mathis, Texas; Sharon Thompson of Leakey, Texas and Janice Alson of Camp Wood; son Vernon Prather of Camp Wood: sister Lucille Howard of Victoria; brothers: Frank Prather of Camp Wood; Henry Prather of Three Rivers, Texas; Melvin Prather of Orange Grove, Texas and Jack Prather of Victoria, Texas and 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date with interment with cremation.

Dr. Clarence Louis Vernor, 67, of Camp Wood, Texas died November 27, 2005 at his home in Camp Wood. He was born July 27, 1938 in Uvalde, Texas to Clarence Edward and Clara Frances Vernor.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Vernor of Camp Wood; daughters, Roxann Merri Vernor of Camp Wood, Sherri Teresa Carrillo and husband Jesse of Ponder; son, C. L. Vernor and wife Beth of Kerrville; sisters, Clariece Wallace of San Antonio, Collen Blomstedt and husband Larry of Robstown; grandchildren, Kody Allen Carrillo, Kristen Monique Carrillo, Chelsea Page Vernor, Macy Jordan Vernor and Brandon Louis Vernor.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 29, 2005 at the Barksdale Baptist Church. Burial followed at the Barksdale Cemetery.
Arrangements were by Nelson Funeral Home of Camp Wood.
Gladys Josephine Mead Dean
Gladys Josephine Mead Dean of Rocksprings, Texas, died March 9, 2006 in Lubbock, Texas. She was born February 1, 1917 in Indian Territory, Oklahoma to William and Ona Mead. In 1932 she married Elmer Dean.
She was preceeded in death by her parents, her husband Elmer Dean in 1977, and stepmother Leska Nelms Reisor Mead.
Gladys is survived by her many nieces and nephews—Patty and Barbara Jackson of Oklahoma; Marcia Mead of Lubbock, Texas; Marilyn Slentz and husband Steve of Denver City, Texas; Gary Mead and wife Sherry of Denver City, Texas; Mark Mead of New Braunfels, Texas; Mike Mead of Houston, Texas, Larry, Judy, Mike, Jack, Shelly and Tony Reisor all of Austin, Texas; Melvina Lakey and husband Tom of Lubbock, Texas; Sue Murdoch and husband John of Lubbock, Texas; Carole McLoughlin and husband Bill of Port Leyden, New York; Ron Waggoner and wife Dede of Austin, Texas; Wava Lee Reisor of Fort Worth, Texas; Phyllis Ratjen of Happy, Texas; Janice Carter of Sundown, Texas; Joline Streeman of Sundown, Texas; Deanna Deaver of Eden, Texas; Sharon White of Las Cruces, New Mexico; Lelan Dean of Plano, Texas; and Delford, Gary Lee and Betty Dean all of Medford, Oregon.
She is also survived by her sisters-in-laws Violet Dean of Plano, Texas; Mary Reisor of Austin, Texas; and Jean Mead of Lubbock, Texas. She is survived by her brother Edgar Reisor of Fort Worth, Texas.
Pallbearers were Jerry Robert Ellis, Gary Mead, Chris Murdoch, Ron Wagner, Tom Lakey and Jack Clark.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 11, 2006 in the Nelson Funeral Chapel, with burial in the Rocksprings Cemetery. Rev. Tom Lakey and John Murdoch officiated. Arrangements were by Nelson Funeral Home of Rocksprings, Texas.
Lawrence Milburn Colwell
Lawrence Milburn Colwell, 80, of Camp Wood, Texas died October 5, 2007 at the Uvalde Healthcare Center. Milburn was born October 15, 1926 in Hackberry in Edwards County, Texas to Robert and Hattie Merritt Colwell.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Linden and Jack Colwell; two sister, Iris Parks and Lorna Martin.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mamie Colwell; two sons, Lawrence Colwell of Uvalde and Warren Colwell and wife Thelma of San Antonio, Texas; four grandchildren: Kelly Roach of Floresville, Texas, Daniel, Delrick and Shanna Colwell of San Antonio; four great-grandchildren: Sam and Elizabeth Roach of Floresville; Linden and Garrison Colwell of San Antonio; three sisters: Glenis Pannell of Barksdale, Texas, Clovis Colwell of Camp Wood and Janis Edwards of Rocksprings.
Milburn was a Mason -- 32nd Degree Scottish Rite.
His services were held Wednesday, October 10, 2007 at the graveside in the Barksdale Cemetery with Pastor Willis Adair officiating.
Services were under the direction of Nelson Funeral Home of Camp Wood, Texas.

Jasmine J’Nae Arvizu, 6, of Rocksprings, Texas died July 1, 2005 in an auto accident in Jackson, Tennessee. She was born March 11, 1999 in Columbus, Ohio to Celerino Arvizu Rosas and Velma Linda Carabajal.
She is survived by her mother, Velma Linda Carabajal of Rocksprings; father, Celerion Arvizu Rosas of Ohio; grandfather and grandmother, Ben R. and Salud Carabajal of Camp Wood, Texas; grandmother, Rosa Linda Carabajal and great-grandmother, Irene Carabajal both of Camp Wood; grandfather and grandmother, Olivia Arvizu Rosas and Celerino Arvizu of Mexico; aunts, Norma Linda Redricks and husband Pico of Dallas, Texas; Irene Carabajal of Camp Wood; Patricia Falcon and husband Robert of Camp Wood; Angel Carabajal of Crane, Texas; Lovonne Falcon of Crane; Elva Lorio Carabajal of San Antonio, Texas; Alma Arvizu Rosas, Esigenia Arvizu Rosas and Eva Arvizu Rosas all of Ohio and Millie Venegas of Rocksprings: uncles, Benito Carabajal IV and wife Ninfa of Tennessee; Manuel Carabajal and wife Cassie of Camp Wood; Don’l Evans and wife Carri of Comfort; Leslie Evans, Issac Falcon and Andy Carabajal, all of Camp Wood; Freddy Arvizu Rosas and Fabian Arvizu Rosas of Ohio, Carlos Hernandez, Robert Hernandez and Erby Hernandez, along with numerous cousins.

Rosa Lee Schlinke
Rosa Lee Schlinke, 72, of Cuero died Thursday, June 30, 2005. She was born February 19, 1933 in Jackson County to the late Fritz and Bridgett Gabrysch Matejek. She was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church.
Her favorite pastime was baking, fishing and playing dominoes. She is known best for her delicious peach cobbler. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by Farrie Schlinke, her devoted husband of 55 years; daughters, Carolyn Lucas and spouse, Tommie, Sr., of Cuero and Nancy Bostick and spouse, Jimmy, of Rocksprings; son, Harold Schlinke and spouse, Anna, of Cuero; grandchildren, Dawn Bostick, Bradley Bostick, Marsha Schlinke Pustka, Daniel Schlinke, Ash Lee Schlinke, Tina Lucas and Tommie Lucase, Jr.; sisters Mary Baker, Doris Baker, Martha Workman and Pauline Zuber; brothers, Dave Matejek and Clarence Matejek and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was Saturday, July 2 at Freund Funeral Home and services were July 3, 2005 at Freund Funeral Home Chapel with Steve Byrne officiating. Burial was at Lindenau Community Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Daniel Schlinke, Bradley Bostick, Tommie Lucas Jr., Patrick Matejek, Will Adams and Ricky Parker.
Honorary pallbearers were Dawn Bostick, Marsha Schlinke Pustka, Tina Lucas and Kristy Williamson.

Ellis William Martin
Ellis William Martin, a former Edwards County Game Warden, died at Morningside Manor in San Antonio on June 21, 2005. He was born on October 23, 1922 in Mt. Pleasant, Texas, the eldest child of Willie and Edna Gibbs Martin. He married Mozelle Adams on December 7, 1942. A veteran of World War II, Martin served in the Army Air Force for five years, including 17 months of combat in the South Pacific.
Martin moved to Rocksprings in 1951 and briefly operated a dry cleaning business before eventually beginning a 20 year career with the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department. He became Game Warden for Edwards County in 1954 following training at Texas A&M University. While in Rocksprings, he was Commander of the American Legion post, a member of the Lions‚ Club and was active in the Masonic Lodge, of which he was a member for more than 50 years. During his years in Edwards County, he contributed countless hours to Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts groups and camps in the area and served for a number of years as Scoutmaster of the local Boy Scout troop, during which time a significant number of Rocksprings boys became Eagle Scouts.
Martin, who had lived in San Antonio since 1973, is survived by his wife, Mozelle, who resides at 730 Babcock Road, San Antonio, Texas, 78201. In addition, he is survived by one son, Ron Martin of New York City; one daughter, Jan Varga and her husband, Clay Varga of San Antonio; granddaughter Farrah Varga and her husband, Teil Haynes, of San Antonio; granddaughter, Lezlie Brewster and her husband, Douglas Brewster of Harker Heights; grandson JD Martin Varga and his wife, Erika, of San Antonio; one great granddaughter, Bianca Varga, of San Antonio; one brother, Clarence Martin of Mt. Pleasant; and two sisters, Dorothy Green of Ft. Worth and Bettie Watkins-Creek of Wasilla, Alaska.
Services with military honors were held on June 27 at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, followed immediately by a memorial service at The Meadows in San Antonio led by his children, grandchildren and brother.
Ada Lee Bonner Wells
Ada Lee Bonner Wells, 85, of Camp Wood, Texas died July 1, 2005 at Uvalde Memorial Hospital. She was born June 8, 1920 in Bandera County, Texas to George Arvil Trott Bonner and Susie Elizabeth Shackelfor Bonner. On December 16, 1941 she married Jesse Lent Wells.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Jesse Lent Wells of Camp Wood, children: Bonnie Northcutt and husband Norvell of Austin, Texas; Ava Dilbeck and husband Richard also of Austin; Kay VanHellen and husband Russ of Boerne, Texas; Albert Wells and wife Jan of Camp Wood; Joe Wells and Frank Roberts of Leakey, Texas and Melanie Jones and husband John of Brackettville, Texas; grandchildren: Elizabeth Leigh Northcutt-Benson, Linda Nicole “Nikki” Northcutt, Boni Jay Sheppard, Eddie Lent Luse, Coulter Wells, Eddie Lent Luce, Russell Judson VanHellen, Amy Elizabeth Knight, Ryan Daniel VanHellen, Albert Lent Wells, Jr., Sara Beth Wells, Jolee Rose McKaskle and Sunni Len Cates; great-grandchildren: John Paul Northcutt-Benson, Samantha Marie Sheppard, Madline Grace Sheppard, Andrea Claire Sheppard, Bonnie Alicia Luce, Lauren Preslie Luce, Russell Cole VanHellen, Julia Grace VanHellen, Baby Knight, Desiree Pearl McKaskle, John Henry Conner McKaskle and Kody Daniel Cates; sister-in-law, Geneva Bonner; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers were all of her grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers were Joe Moffett, Tome Spurger, Carroll Vernor, Jesse Lockhart, Norvell Northcutt, Richard Dilbeck, Buss VanHellen, John Jones and Frank Roberts.
Funeral services were held Sunday, July 3 in the Camp Wood Baptist Church with burial in the Vance Cemetery. Carroll Vernor, Jr., officated with Nelson Funeral Home of Camp Wood making the arrangements.
Richard Lewis Burnezky
Richard Lewis Burnezky, 51, of Rio Frio, Texas died November 17, 2005 at Elm Creek Stables in Rio Frio. He was born December 20, 1953 in Annapolis, Maryland to Richard Lewis, Sr. and Patricia Moon Burnezky.
He is survived by his father, Richard Lewis Burnezky, Sr. of Nemo, South Dakota; mother, Patricia Moon of Hubbardsville, New York; wife, Peggy Diane Burnezky of Rio Frio; son, Nick Burnezky and wife Linda of Pasadena, Maryland; daughter, Crystal Burnezky of Franklin, Tennessee; grandson, Corey Lee Burnezky of Pasadena, Maryland; granddaughters, Citrina O’Brien and Lori Lickley of Oklahoma; step-son, Cody Schuchert of Corpus Christi; step-daughter, Teresa Barnes of Long Island, New York; brothers, Charlie Burnezky and Robert “Bob” Burnezky of Cobb Mountain, California; father and mother-in-laws, Eugene and Bee Judd of Leakey; sister-in-law, Joyce Graham of Bandera; brother-in-law, Paul Worley of Corpus Christi.
Memorial services were held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 23, 2005 in the Concan Church of Christ in Concan, Texas with Brother Ray Milton officiating.
