Alice Taylor
Alice Taylor, of Midland, died Friday, November 30, 2007.
She was born in Sonora, Texas on November 8, 1938 to Eddie Ray Sosa and Elsie Lopez. Alice was reared and educated in Sonora, Texas where she graduated high school in 1959. Alice married the love of her life, Chief Warrant Officer Selvwyn Risher Taylor, on February 2, 1959. Alice received her Masters in Elementary Education and her PhD in Counseling from Sul Ross University. She had taught in Midland, Alpine, Marfa, Rocksprings, Sonora and San Antonio. She retired from the San Antonio School district.
She was preceded in death by her father and husband.
Alice is survived by daughters: Vikki Harvey and husband Rick, Lisa Williams and husband Les; sons: Scott Taylor and wife Audrey, Eddie Guzman and wife Stacy; daughter-in-law, Kathy Guzman; mother, Elsie Jamie and husband Luis; brothers: Eddie and Robert Sosa; dearest cousin, Ana Martinez and husband Francisco; niece, Judy Jimenez and daughter Julie Clepper; grandchildren: Travis Harvey, Blake Harvey, Chad Harvey, Tiana Guzman, Tessa Guzman, Kellie Taylor, Blaine Taylor, Garrett Taylor; great-granddaughter Marissa Guzman and numerous other nieces and nephews.
Memorial services were Monday, December 3, 2007 at Ellis Funeral Home Chapel. Arrangements were under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home.
Carl Neal
Carl Neal of Rocksprings died Monday, December 12, 2005 in the University Hospital in San Antonio from injuries sustained in a fall from a bulldozer. He was born February 25, 1932.
He is survived by his wife Edna; two daughters Jodie Rendon and husband Ozzie of Mountian Home and Cheryl McCartney of Jonesville, Louisiana; two sons D. J. Cottle of Pearsall and Buck Neal;local grandchildren include grandsons Buck Neal, C.D. Neal, Osvaldo Rendon, Jr. and Brandon McCartney; granddaughters Carla McDonald, Clarissa McDonald and Tamyra McCartney.
Services are pending as of press time, but a memorial service will be held at a later date at First Baptist Church of Rocksprings.
Glen Earl Herron
Glen Earl Herron, 74 of Vance, Texas died December 16, 2005 at his home in Vance. He was born March 4, 1931 in Humble, Texas to Coy and Opal Staggs Herron. Glen Earl had 14 brothers and sisters.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Eunice Herron of Vance; three daughters Glendy Gore and husband Stan of Hawaii, Teddy White and husband Brian of Vance and Donna Seeber and husband Chuck of Tomball, Texas: one son Joe Herron and wife Raven of Round Mountain, Texas; eleven grandchildren-Kandy Lloyd and husband Chad, Clay Pruitt and wife Laura, Eric Rokohl, Tim Rokohl, Joe Herron Jr. and wife Holly, Jennifer Herron, Justin Herron, Jamie White, Meagan Seeber, Abbey Seeber and Mindy Herron; two great grandchildren Glen Pruitt and Peyton Lloyd.
Services were held at noon on Tuesday, December 20th at Rosewood Funeral Home in Humble.
Arrrangements were by Nelson Funeral Home of Camp Wood, Texas and Rosewood Funeral Home of Humble.
Mary Jean Rains
Funeral services were held December 15, 2005 at 3 p.m. at Barksdale Baptist Church for Mary Jean Rains, 73, of Barksdale, who died Dec. 11th at Hill Country Memorial Hospital in Fredericksburg.
The Rev. Greg Johnson officiated.
Interment followed in Vance Cemetery.
Rains was born Oct. 18, 1932, in San Benito.
She is survived by two daughters, Mary Ann Rhea and Abigail Wimberley, both of Camp Wood; one son, Rick Rains of Camp Wood; one sister, Margorie Sorell of Combes; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Arrangements were by Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary of Uvalde.
Marjorie Anne Tampke
Marjorie Anne Tampke, 66 of Leakey, Texas died December 15, 2005 at Uvalde Memorial Hospital. She was born October 21, 1939 in Houston, Texas to Kenneth and Mary Carver Middleton.
She is survived by her children: Sheryl Michalak and husband Kenny of Houston, Texas; Bobby Ryan of Leakey, Texas; Elizabeth Pannell and husband Clay of Leakey; Tommy Ryan and wife B. J. of Houston and Kelly Satterwhite and husband David of Camp Wood, Texas. Grandchildren: Lindsey, Jason, Lucas, Matthew, Avery and Colt along with brother Ken Middleton of Houston, Texas and aunt Marie Stayton of Houston.
She was preceded in death by her parents Kenneth and Mary Middleton and husband George Tampke
Pallbearers were Raymond Nelson, Ronnie Williams, Glenn Bradley, Charlie Logue, Jimmy Alvarado and Hank Middleton.
Services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 18th at Nelson Funeral Home Chapel in Leakey. Burial followed in the Leakey Floral Cemetery with Brother Ray Miller officiating.
Arrangements were by Nelson Funeral Home.
Corynne Conring
Corynne Conring, age 89 of Rocksprings, died Sunday, April 30, 2006 in Kerrville. She was born October 19, 1916 to William Sims Martin and Tiney Tecora Vaughn Martin. On May 19, 1943, she married Robert Conring in Corpus Christi.
Corynne was a homemaker, artist and an art teacher. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Rocksprings.
Survivors include husband, Bob Conring of Rocksprings; daughters, Annette Dowell and husband, Lanny Dowell of Goldthwaite and Barbara Glynn Meyette and husband, Chuck Meyette of Wimberley; sons, Lane Conring and wife, Elaine Conring of Kerrville, Robin Conring and wife, Idalia Conring of Rockmart, GA and Ronnie Conring and wife, Nancy Conring of Akron, OH; thirteen grandchildren and twenty-two great grandchildren.
Services were held Wednesday, May 3, 2006, 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Rocksprings officiated by Joe Baker and Lane Conring. Interment followed in the Rocksprings Cemetery.
Pallbearers were grandsons Chris Conring, Jerry Conring, Leo Conring, Scott Dowell, Mark Dowell and Shawn Meyette and great grandchildren, Chris Coignet and Kyle Coignet.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Rocksprings EMS.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Grimes Funeral Chapels of Kerrville.
Rebecca Ann McDonald White
Rebecca Ann McDonald White, 54, of Snyder, Texas died April 24, 2006 in the Sid Peterson Memorial Hospital in Kerrville, Texas. She was born January 17, 1952 to Mildred Sweaza and Roger McDonald.
Becky is survived by her mother Mildred Sweaza and stepfather Rex Sweaza of Rocksprings; two sons, Stacy White and Terry Don White; one daughter, Brandy Turner; nine grandchildren; two brothers, Daniel Gallaway of McLean, Texas and David W. Beaver of Rocksprings; two sisters, Linda Myres of Snyder and Lorene Manley of Fort Worth, Texas.
Becky is preceded in death by her father Roger McDonald and one brother Roger Dougles McDonald who died in 1971.
Graveside services were held Wednesday, April 26 with Bro. Albert Green of First Baptist Church of Rocksprings officating.
Angelina Parada Barron
Angelina Parad Barron, 93, of Barksdale, Texas went to be with her Lord on February 1, 2007 at the Uvalde Memorial Hospital. She was born June 1, 1914 in Cuatro Cienigas, Coah., Mexico to Eaustacio and Teodora Parada.
Angleina and husband Chon moved their family to the Canyon in 1947 where he worked on the Williams Ranch and she raised their six children. She was a member of the Frist Baptist Church since 1953.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Chon Barron and one infant daughter.
Survivors are children: Sam Barron, Lilly Garza and Mary Martin all of Uvalde. Paul Barron of Del City, Oklahomz, Minnie Ramirez of Camp Wood and Alyce Bohuslavicky of Katy; one sister Herminia Calzada of Seguin; twenty grandchildren; twent-three great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services were held Sunday, February 44, 2007 in the Barksdale Baptist Church with burial in the Barksdale Cemetery. Pastor Greg Johnson officiated.
Arrangemenst were by Nelson Funeral Home of Camp Wood, Texas.
Silverio “Chive” Ancira
Silverio “Chive” Ancira, 81, of Junction, Texas died November 17, 2007 at the Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas. He was born May 12, 1926 in Rocksprings, Texas to Ysidro and Maria Mendoza Ancira.
He was preceded in death by his wife Otilia Ancira, granddaughter Belinda Galindo, his parents, Ysidro and Maria Ancira and sister Carolina Ancira.
He is survived by children: Richard Ancira and wife Debby of Wickett, TX, Elisa Zamudio and husband Juan of Pampa, Tx., Grace Galindo and husband Errbey of Sweetwater, TX, Dolores Gallegos and husband Herbert of Rocksprings,, Becky Van Winkle and husband Michael of Junction, TX; grandchildren: Jessie Ancira, Rebekha Milligan, Sierra Ancira, Dallas Ancira, Lindsey Ancira, Sirena Ancira, Richie Ancira, Lisa Anne Ancira, Chris Ancira, Diana Tidwell, Eric Zamudio, Errbey Galindo, Jr., Sarita Hefner, Josh Galindo, Richie Gallegos, Renee Johnson, Terri Tapia, Michael Van Winkle, Jr., Regina Joy, Ashley Van Winkle; thirty-three great-grandchildren; brothers: Jimmy Ancira and wife Chelo of San Jose, Ca., Eliseo Aguilar of Winona Lake, In., Luis Aguilar and wife Jovita of San Antonio, Tx.; sisters: Grace Ramos and husband Joe of Kerrville, Tx., Carol Pruneda and husband John of Flourbluff, Tx., Elva Aguilar of Rocksprings, numerous nieces and nephews; special cousin Santiago “Chago” Uriegas and inseparable companion, his dog “Rusty”.
Services were held Wednesday, November 21, 2007 in the First Baptist Church of Rocksprings. Burial followed in the Rocksprings Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Richie Gallegos, Errbey Galindo, Michael Van Winkle, Josh Galindo, Eric Zamudio, Stephen Ramirez, Jr., Bobby “Bo” Gallegos-Samora and Jacob Tidwell.
Arrangements were under the direction of Nelson Funeral Home of Rocksprings.
Earl Dean Lomax Sr
Memorial services for Earl “Buddy” Dean Lomax Sr., 82, of Seminole were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 7th in the Westside Church of Christ with Brother Leo Copeland officiating, under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Home.
Earl died March 5th in Odessa after a brief illness.
He was born May 5, 1922 in Albequerque, New Mexico to Roy and Ruby Lomax. Earl married Hazel Hopkins March 14, 1945 in Corpus Christi. He served in the U.S. Navy during WW II on the USS South Dakota was wounded and received the Purple Heart. Earl was with the Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas for 20 years and then moved to Nashville, Tennessee for fifteen years before moving to Seminole three years ago.
Earl was preceded in death by his wife Hazel, October 2, 2003; his son, Earl Lomax Jr.; also a sister, Roy Nell Luce and a brother, Jimmie Lomax. He was very active with the Seminole Memorial Hospice Healthcare Center.
Earl is survived by his daughter Patsy Braun and her husband George of Seminole; a sister Betty Lou Taylor of Duncanville; four grandchildren, Wayne Braun, Margaret Maloney, Cheryl Gandy and Carol Kulmayer; along with seven great-grandchildren.
