Sarah Beth Merritt Petronella
Sarah Beth Merritt Petronella, 34, of Leakey, Texas died August 24, 2005 at the Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas. She was born July 24, 1971 in Midland, Texas to Herbert Merritt and Claudine Tierace Merritt.
She was preceded in death by her father Herbert in June of 2001.
She married Dominick Petronella on November 11, 2001 in Leakey, Texas.
She is survived by her husband Dominick Petronella of Leakey, Texas; two children, Jamie Lynn Hobbs and Marcus Lastat Hobbs of Leakey; her mother, Claudine Merritt of Leakey; one sister, Jane Lindinger of Tyler, Texas.
A memorial service was held in the Nelson Funeral Home Chapel in Leakey, Texas on Saturday, August 27th.
Cremation and memorial services were by Nelson Funeral Home of Leakey.
Josephine Jewel Chisum Haby
Josephine Jewel Chisum Haby, 91, of Graham and Leakey died February 14 at her home in Graham. She was born August 9, 1914 in Real County, to Jess Kendrick Chisum and Pearl Sharp Chisum.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Claude C. Haby, Sr.; four sisters, Nora Fisher, Bertie Chisum, Thelma Brice and Sadie Rogers; one brother, Walker Chisum.
She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Kostovick and husband John of Graham; sons, Claude Haby, Jr. and wife Linda of Leakey, George Haby and wife Brenda of Leakey; seven grandchildren, Sherry Powell of La Porte, Laura Robertson of Graham, Carrie Hayes of Del Rio, Crystal Woerner of Stephenville, Wade Haby of Leakey, Jacob Haby of Leakey and Holly Gomez of Alamo; fifteen great-grandchildren, Max and Blake Powell, Chase Robertson, Misty Taylor, Jessica and Luke Ohlson, Allison & Emilie Woerner, Agusta & Ethan Haby, Joseph & Joshua Haby, Isaiah Gomez, Gracey Taylor & Dalley Jobe; one sister, Leola O’Rear of DeQueen, Arkansas and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 17, 2006 in the Frio Baptist Church of Leakey with Reverend Havey Hulse and Dr. Jim O’Dell officiating. Burial followed in the Leakey Floral Cemetery.
Reverend Harvey Wayne Hulse, Sr.
Reverend Harvey Wayne Hulse, Sr., 80, of Leakey died February 17, 2006 at his home in Leakey. He was born October 15, 1925 in Munday, Texas to Rube Roy Hulse and Kitty Estelle Adcox Hulse.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years Ruby Jo Hulse; three brothers; two sisters and his parents.
He is survived by his wife Mildred L. Hulse, married August 28, 2004; five children and their spouses, Kitty and Rick Ricci of Deer Park, Washington, Billie and Bill Schneider of San Antonio, Wayne and Shirley Hulse of Leakey, Jo Dean and Tony Brice of Clovis, New Mexico, Heath and Tami Hulse of Early, Texas; twelve grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Maggie Mae Berrier of Seguin and Arlene Moxley of Cleburne.
Services were held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 21, 2006 in the Frio Canyon Baptist Church in Leakey with Dr. Jim O’Dell officiating. Burial followed in the Leakey Floral Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Grover Corwin, Rip Duke, Charles Graves, Clarence Hollida, Charlie Reeves and Jerry Rollison.
Jerry Bennett Young
Jerry Bennett Young, 68, of Rocksprings died February 14, 2006 at the Hill Country Care Center in Junction. He was born October 15, 1937 in San Juan, Texas to Clarence and Ada Mae Young.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years Mattielee Young of Rocksprings; one brother Dale Young of Washington State and cousins Rick and Cam Hendley of Rocksprings.
Graveside services were held Thursday, February 16 at the Rocksprings Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers were Tommy Fry, Glynn Hendley, Ray Thompson, Matt Fry, Todd Varga, Garland Varga, Buddy Nelson and Bud Nelson.
Randolph Brown Clark
Memorial services were held at the Rocksprings Cemetery for local jeweler and artisan, Randolph Brown Clark, on Thursday, May 11, 2006 at 10 a.m.
Randy was found in his home May 6, 2006 where he had died of a self-inflicted gun shot, which was believed to have happened on the morning of May 4, 2006.
Randy was born to Clifford Alvin Clark, Jr. and Rowena (Ro) Ruth Mitchell Clark on December 26, 1950, in Kerrville, Texas. He grew up on White Mountain Ranch and in Rocksprings, where he attended Rocksprings Schools, graduating in 1969.
He was a member of the Rocksprings Presbyterian Church, a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. He was a member of the American Junior Rodeo Association and in the mid 1960’s won second in the world in bull riding, after being mentored by World Champion bull rider George Paul in Del Rio, TX and at the San Miguel Ranch in Mexico.
Randy is survived by his only child, Colt Clifford Clark, grandson Liam Clark and Colt’s mom, Debra Dugas. Randy is also survived by his mom, Ro Clark and sister, Melanie Ruth Clark. Also surviving are: Sissie, Cam and family, Jacklyn, Martha, Clay and families, Loyd ‘Tio’ and Faye-Faye, Connie, Sherrie, Zane and families, Bill and Norma, Billy, Dennis and families.
He was preceded in death by his dad Clifford Clark, Jr., grandparents Marie Brown and Clifford Clark, Sr. of Rocksprings, Frances Ruth Onderdonk and Loyd Mitchell, Sr. of Marfa, Hunt and Rocksprings, uncles Dub Glynn and Crawford Mitchell, cousins John Rolston, John T Brown, Allan Louise Brown Burns and Dennis Mansfield.
Honorary pallbearers were the RHS Class of 1969, Roy Angermiller, Mark Bean, Jimmy Black, Zeke Bradford, Jonah Carson, Frito Cerda, Carl Cloudt, Chip Cole, Juan Crouch, Lindsay Davis, Efrain Gonzales, Marty Graham, Jimmy Greer, Charles LeBlanc, Billy Frank Matthews, Jackie Merritt, Steve Morrison, Dash Peterson, Souli Asa Shanklin, Jake Shanklin, Todd Varga, Bud West, Tootie Whitworth and Bobby Wobbler.
Cremation arrangements were by Nelson Funeral Home of Rocksprings.

Ramona Sharon (Welch) Brock
Ramona Sharon (Welch) Brock passed away on November 29, 2007, in Van Horn, Texas. She was born on October 4, 1961 in Leakey, Texas, to Raymond and Alice (O’Bryant) Welch.
Memorial services are pending with interment at Vance, Texas, in the Welch Family plot. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Alice (O’Bryant) Welch and two brothers, Michael and Jeffery Welch.
Mona is survived by her special friend, J.C. Rankin and four sisters and brothers-in-law; Rebecca and Ray Watley of Van Horn, Texas; Carolyn and Greg Martin of Dale, Texas; Diane and Donnie Vollmering of Corpus Christi, Texas; Debbie and Josh Cox of Camp Wood, Texas. Her surviving aunts are Ina Sue Everrett and Dortha Shipman and an uncle, Pat O’Bryant and wife Louise, all of Camp Wood. She has numerous nieces, nephews relatives and friends.
Billy Bert Brown, Jr.
Billy Bert Brown, Jr., age 58 of Camp Wood, passed away Monday, December 3, 2007 in a Camp Wood care center. He was born February 9, 1949 in Del Rio to Billy Bert Brown, Sr. and Lenora Knippa Brown.
Survivors include his sisters: Nancy Cantwell of Harper, Texas; Joan Rudasill of Rocksprings, Texas; Paulette Wall of Camp Wood, Texas; and Pamela Armke of Sonora, brothers: Jimmy Brown of Camp Wood and Ralph Brown of Rocksprings and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held today, Thursday, December 6, 2007, 10 a.m. at the Rocksprings Cemetery officiated by Rev. Carroll Vernor.
Billy’s brothers and sisters will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Grimes Funeral Chapels of Kerrville.
Sarah Anna Charlotte Moreau Hubble Cavness
Sarah Anna Charlotte Moreau Hubble Cavness, 81, of Menard, Texas died December 1, 2007 at the Schleicher County Medical Center-Nursing Home in Eldorado, Texas. She was born October 13, 1926 in Leon Springs, Texas to Edward and Mary Moreau.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Mary Moreau, her husband Wesley T. Hubble; brothers: Coolidge Moreau and Leonard Moreau; sisters: Emogene Thrane and Barbara Burger and step-daughter Connie Sorrells.
She is survived by her husband Bobby Gene Cavness, one son R. E. (Skeeter) Hubble and wife Pam of Burnet, Texas; two daughters: Stella Hubble of Burnet and Lois and husband Jack Dean of Eldorado; three step-children: Bobby and Karen Cavness of Spring Branch, Texas, Billy Cavness of Brady, Texas and Tommy and Patti Cavness of Kingsville, Texas. She also has numerous grandchildren, great-granchildren, nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held Wednesday, December 5, 2007 at the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Camp Wood, Texas and Minister Brian Garnett officiated.
Services were under the direction of Nelson Funeral Home of Camp Wood, Texas.
Lois Felts Hall
Lois Felts Hall, 81, of Lytle, Texas, formerly of Barksdale, Texas died November 29, 2007 at the South West General Hospital in San Antonio, Texas. She was born July 31, 1926 at Cedar Creek in Edwards County, to Lon and Lillie Belle Felts.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lon and Lillie Belle Felts and son Steven Mark Hall.
She is survived by her son Calvin McQueen and wife Kumcha of Karachi, Pakistan; two grandsons: Jon McQueen and Steven McQueen of Chicago, Illinois; one granddaughter Theresa McArdle of Augusta, Georgia; three great-grandchildren; three brothers: William Franklin Felts of Clyde, Texas, Philip Felts of Lytle and Lon Felts, Jr. of Uvalde, Texas; one sister: Dorothy Jean Ward of Camp Wood, Texas along with numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, December 4, 2007 at the Barksdale Cemetery in Barksdale.
Services were under the direction of Nelson Funeral Homes of Camp Wood, Texas.
Mr. Norman E. Fred
NEW IBERIA – Funeral Services were conducted for Mr. Norman E. Fred, age 89, Thursday, November 29, 2007 at Evangeline Funeral Home with Rev. Roland Fontenot officiating. Interment followed at Memorial Park Cemetery.
A native of Rocksprings, TX, resident of Pembroke Pines, FL and longtime resident of New Iberia, Mr. Fred died at 1:38 p.m. on Saturday November 24, 2007 at Memorial Miramar Hospital in Miramar, FL.
Mr. Fred graduated from Rocksprings High School in 1936 and LSU in 1941. He is a US Navy veteran and was stationed in Ft. Lauderdale, FL from 1942 to 1946. Afterward, he worked in the oil industry until his retirement in 1991. He loved to hunt and fish. Norman will be dearly missed by family and friends.
He is survived by his sons, Thomas H. Fred of Pembroke Pines, FL, Robert J. Fred of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Norman Joe Fred of New Mexico and Charles Allen Fred of New Mexico; grandchildren, Randy Scott Fred of New Mexico, Eric T. Fred of New Mexico, Norman Lee Fred of Broussard, Jesse Ray Fred of Youngsville and Becky Marie Fred of Mobile, AL, Belinda Annemarie Fred Viator of Houston, TX, Raquel Natacia Fred Goldstein of Dania Beach, FL, Thomas H. Fred Jr. of Pembroke Pines, FL and Phillip Thomas Fred of Pembroke Pines, FL; and great grandchildren, Orlando Jaimes Fred, Alexia Cierra Fred and Antonio Fred of Broussard, Evelyn Marlene Viator of Houston, TX, and Aden Phillip Goldstein of Dania Beach, FL.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Maria Mora Fred; son, George Edward Fred; parents, Noah E. and Elenora Lockley Fred; brother, Robert L. Fred; sister, Sybill Fred Farmer.
Pallbearers were Norman Joe Fred, Robert J. Fred, Thomas H. Fred, Thomas H. Fred Jr., Norman Lee Fred and Jesse Ray Fred.
