Mr. Fraser
Cleo Robert Fraser, 89, of Beeville died Friday, March 16, 2007. He was born July 18, 1917, in Bald Knob, Ark., to the late Abner and Zelma Fraser. He graduated from high school in Beeville in May 1937, and married Lulan Heath on June 11, 1939. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Beeville, and retired from 44 years with Southwestern Bell Telephone Co., and more than 20 years as a self-employed sign painter.
Mr. Fraser was preceded in death by his parents; an older brother, Harry Fraser; his wife, Lulan, in 1997; and a son, Bob, in 1998.
Survivors include one brother, Burt (Nell) Fraser; one nephew, Harry James Fraser; a daughter, Shirley (Ben) Sorrell; a son, Doug (Randie) Fraser; four grandchildren, Debra Fraser, Annie Sorrell Soutter, Elizabeth Sorrell and Gavin Fraser; and one great-grandson, Justin Alford.
Visitation will be at the Fraser residence at 912 E. Huntington St. in Beeville on Saturday. The funeral service will be at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home on Sunday at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Charles Heath officiating.
Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery in Skidmore.

Mr. Gonzales
Gilbert Gonzales, 46, of Massena, N.Y., formerly of Beeville, died Monday, March 12, 2007, from a cerebral hemorrhage. He was born on Aug. 22, 1960, to the late Thomas and Celia (Garza) Gonzales in Beeville. He was a high school graduate and attended college. He attended federal law enforcement training in Glynco, Ga.
He married Janet Warren on June 14, 1986, in Burlington, Ontario, at St. Luke’s Anglican Church. He was employed as a Border Patrol agent for the United States Border Patrol. He and his wife moved to Massena, N.Y., in 1999 from  Texas. He enjoyed sports and hunting.
Survivors include his wife, Janet Gonzales; two sons and a daughter, Justin W., Kevin T.W. and Laura E.W. Gonzales, all of Massena; a sister, Rosalinda Gonzales of Beeville; two brothers, John Gonzales of San Antonio and Thomas Gonzales of San Angelo; and nieces and nephews.
The funeral service was scheduled to be held Saturday morning at 10 o’clock at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Massena, N.Y., with the Rev. Joel Grigg presiding. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart & Stroke Foundation, 21 Plattsburgh Plaza, Plattsburgh, N.Y. 12901.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Phillips Memorial Home Inc. in Massena, N.Y.

Mr. Houdmann
J.J. “Bucky” Houdmann, 53, of George West and Laredo, died Wednesday, March 14, 2007, in Laredo.
He was born July 7, 1953, in Castroville to Gustav E. and Ethel Carrie Marie (Jagge) Houdmann. He was a George West High School graduate and attended Southwest  Texas State University. He married Cindy Hines on Aug. 3, 1974, in George West.
Mr. Houdmann was a real estate developer in Laredo employed with the Dilworth Group. He was a member of St. George Church and the Knights of Columbus and was a former Live Oak County commissioner.
Survivors include his wife, Cindy Houdmann of George West and Laredo; a son, Justin Houdmann of Corpus Christi; a daughter, Courtney (Martin) Wall of Portland; two sisters, Lanna (Bill) Holland and Diana (Randy) Geisler, all of George West; a relative, Ike Houdmann of George West; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at St. George Catholic Church in George West. The funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. George, with the Rev. Joseph Olikkara officiating. Barbara Bednorz played the organ and Jody Sullivan provided musical selections.
Burial followed in the St. George Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers were Bo  White, Pat Murphy, Jimmy Hines, Dick McGee, Paul Dirks, William Holland, Jimmy Strause and Mark Bledsoe.
Memorial contributions may be made to the J.J. “Bucky” Houdmann Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o First National Bank in George West.

Mrs. Massey
Lavinia Adair Massey, 88, passed away on Tuesday, March 13, 2007.
Lavinia was born on June 25, 1918 in Terrell,  Texas to the late Charles Cecil Schley and Edna Lavinioa Morrill Schley. She married Holman Cooper Massey in Fort Worth,  Texas on April 21, 1945. Lavinia furthered her education and received a Bachelor degree in interior design from the University of  Texas. This was the first class to graduate with that degree. She was also a member of The Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in George West and was a member of the altar guild.
She is survived by her husband Holman C. Massey of San Antonio, formerly of George West; a daughter, Mildred Massey Mitchmore of San Antonio; two sons, Holman C. Massey Jr. and wife Gail of Philadelphia, Pa., Edward M Massey and wife Barbara of Clareville Community,  Texas; five grandchildren, Emily Mitchmore, Esther Katz, Alan Massey, William Massey, and Sarah Massey; and one brother, Brooks M. Schley of George West,  Texas.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 16, 2007, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Galloway & Sons Chapel in George West. Funeral service will be held Saturday, March 17, 2007 beginning at 10:30 a.m. at The Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in George West with Rev. Mac Keeble officiating. Interment to follow at the George West Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ross Harris, Rosendo Pena, August Caron Jr., Bernard Bednorz, Chuck Sehlke, and Lamon Bennet. Honorary pallbearers will be Murray Mitchell, Tige Brown adn Walter Holmes.

Mrs. Tijerina
Beatrice Tijerina, 86, of Arlington, formerly of Beeville, died Wednesday, March 14, 2007, in Arlington. She was born on Oct. 2, 1920, in Beeville to Jesus Fernandez and Prudencia Ybarra. She was a housewife and member of the Catholic faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Felix Tijerina Sr., and her parents.
Survivors include two daughters, Diana Gonzales of Arlington and Julia (Martin) Barrientez of Ingleside; two sons, Felix Tijerina Jr. of Arlington and Jesus Martin Tijerina of Kennedale; three sisters, Josefa Rios of Woodsboro, Amelia Villarreal of Robstown and Guadalupe Huerta of Corpus Christi; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Friday at Trevino Funeral Home. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Joseph’s Church, with the Rev. Pat Donohoe officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Felix Tijerina Jr., Jesus Martin Tijerina, Stefan Raul Tijerina, David Guajardo, David Fickett and Enrique Fernandez.

Ruby Meier Burgoon, 88, formerly of Beeville, died Friday, April 18, 2003, in Bryan.
Mrs. Burgoon was born in Edwardsport, Ind., on Nov. 30, 1914. She retired as a registered nurse and was a member of First Baptist Church in Beeville. She had lived in College Station for the past six years and was a member of First Baptist Church, College Station.
She was preceded in death by her husband, L.H. Burgoon, and a grandson, Barry Todd Jennings.
Survivors include a daughter, Judy McFarland of College Station; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Agnes Core of Cape Coral, Fla., and Dorothy Anne and Rodney  Taylor of Mulberry, Fla.; a grandson, Wesley Ty Jennings and wife Lisa of Spring; and two granddaughters, Lindsay and Taylor.
Memorial services were held Monday at First Baptist Church, College Station. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church, College Station, the American Cancer Society, or to the donor’s charity of choice.
Arrangements were handled through Callaway- Jones Funeral Home and Crematory in Bryan.

Billie June (Martin) Dirks, 70, died Saturday, April 19, 2003.
Visitation was held Monday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Galloway and Sons Funeral Home chapel. Funeral services were held Monday at 2 p.m. at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church with the Rev. Adrian Amaya officiating. Burial followed in Glenwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Bobby Jacob, Donnie Watkins, Dick McGee, Jack Carpenter Wallace III, J.W. Turner and David Altenhoff. Honorary pallbearers were Bill Hardwick, Darwin Altenhoff, Richard Dirks, Lee Dirks and Wayne Dirks.
Mrs. Dirks was born on Oct. 26, 1932, in George West to June T. and Luciel (Blackmon) Martin. She married Robert L. Dirks on Oct. 11, 1952, in Fort Smith, Ark. She resided in Live Oak County and was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Philip’s.
Survivors include her husband, Robert L. Dirks of George West; a daughter, Marcia Dirks of Wimberley; a son, Paul Martin Dirks and wife Kathryn Linney Dirks of Corpus Christi; four grandchildren, Kristin Marie Acock and Lynlie Marie, Abigail and Jack Carpenter Wallace III; a sister, Marjorie Altenhoff of New Braunfels; a brother, Travis Martin of George West; and two aunts, Bula Barry and Ann Fair of George West.

Rodrigo Rodriguez Sr., 40, died Sunday, April 20, 2003, in an automobile accident.
Visitation was held Tuesday from 5 to 9 p.m. at Angelus Funeral Home. A second visitation will take place Thursday from 1 to 9 p.m. at Darling Mouser Funeral Home in Brownsville.
Funeral services were held today (Wednesday) at 2 p.m. at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Beeville, with Pastor Isaac Lopez officiating. A second funeral service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Brownsville. Burial will follow in the Buena Vista Cemetery there.
Mr. Rodriguez was born on June 9, 1962, to Roberto H. and Eliza (Rocha) Rodriguez. He married Juana Bertha Vera in Brownsville and was originally a resident of that city. He resided in Beeville and was employed as a correctional officer with the  Texas Department of Criminal Justice. He was a Seventh-day Adventist.
Survivors include his wife, Juana Bertha “Janie” Rodriguez; four sons, Roy, Roman, Romeo and Roel Rodriguez, all of Beeville; his parents, Roberto H. and Eliza Rodriguez of Brownsville; three brothers, Roberto Jr., Ramon and Rogelio Rodriguez of Brownsville; four sisters, Yolanda Piper of San Antonio, Ofelia Rodriguez and Belinda Salinas, both of Monroeville, Ind., and Cynthia Rodriguez of Brownsville.

Rodrigo “Roddy” Rodriguez Jr., 16, died Sunday, April 20, 2003, in an automobile accident.

Roddy was born on April 21, 1986, in Brownsville to Rodrigo Sr. and Juana Bertha (Vera) Rodriguez. He was a junior at A.C.  Jones High School and was a Seventh-day Adventist.
Survivors include his mother, Juana Bertha “Janie” Rodriguez; four brothers, Roy, Roman, Romeo and Roel Rodriguez, all of Beeville; his paternal grandparents, Roberto H. and Eliza Rodriguez; and his maternal grandparents, Everardo and Gloria M. Vera, all of Brownsville.

James Dolan Roy died Saturday, April 19, 2003.
He was born December 31, 1947 in Beeville,  Texas to Lewis and Carrie Lee Roy. James was preceded in death by his sister, Carris Louise Hinderman and his parents, Lewis R. Roy and Carrie Lee Canada.
Survivors include his wife, Lydia Green-Roy; his brothers and their wives, Carl and Mary Roy of Long Beach, Ca.; Henry and Alberta Roy of Carson, Ca.; Felix and Sandra Roy of Lakewood, Ca.; his sisters and their husbands, Florene and Billy Shoaf of San Diego, Ca. and Lorene Weathers of Compton, Ca.; his brothers-in-law and their wives, all of whom live in  Texas, Paul and Novella Green, John and Rhonda Green, James and Debbie Green; his sisters-in-law and their husbands, Priscilla and Charles Hodge, Johnnie Green, and Constance Green. James will also be deeply missed by his step-children, Michael and Walter Harvey from marriage to Faye Roy, who preceded James in death and also Sheron, Tashaka, John, Jovan, Destini, Channell, Maurice. His grandchildren are Zion and Nehamiah Green. He will also be missed by a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
James was a noted athlete all through his academic years. He enjoyed coaching Beeville Little League Baseball through the years and always teaching his little players the importance of teamwork and dedication.
He served in the Marine Corps from December 1965 through August 1969 when he received an honorable medical discharge. One of the highlights of James’ military career was receiving the Purple Heart for his service in Vietnam and also received National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Presidential Unit Citation, Navy Commendation Medal, and the Rifle Marksman Badge.
Prayer services will be held on Thursday, April 24, 2003 at 6:00 p.m. at Trevino Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will be held on Friday at 3:00 p.m. at the Bethlehem Baptist Church with Pastor Eric R. Tavor officiating. Burial will follow at St. Rose Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Julius Farris, Carl Hinderman, Ronnie McCraig, R.C. Callis, John Green and Paul Green. Honorary Pallbearers will be Robert Roy II, Felix Roy Sr., Calvin Jr., Michael, Anthony, Curtis and Victor Hinderman, Carl R. Roy and Robert F. Roy II.
