MELITTA M. FRUEH
Funeral services for Melitta M. Frueh were held Tuesday, June 20, 2000 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in New Braunfels with Rev. Dr. Charles DeHaven officiating. Burial followed at the St. Martin’s Cemetery in New Braunfels.
Mrs. Frueh died on June 17, 2000 at the age of 82. She was born in Arcadia, Wi. to Rev. George F. and Rosalie Brodt Muedeking. She was a retired public school music teacher and very active in her Lutheran church’s music, service and devotional activities.
Mrs. Frueh is survived by sons, David Frueh of Mullin, Tx. and Michael Frueh of Austin, Tx.; brother, Dr. George H. Muedeking of Napa, Ca.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Milton S. Frueh, who was a former minister in Ganado.
Memorials may be given to the St. Martin Church or to the charity of one’s choice.
MILTON R. BOENING
Graveside services for Milton Robert Boenig, 86, of Woodsboro are set for Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2000, at LaRosa Cemetery under the direction of Moore Funeral Home, Refugio.
Mr. Boenig died Sept. 10. Born Dec. 22, 1913, in Woodsboro, to the late Herman A. and Minna Salge Boenig, he was a farmer and a member of Faith United Church of Woodsboro.
Survivors include his wife, Pauline Boenig, Woodsboro; daughters, Peggy Barnhart, Refugio, Carolyn Staples, Austin, and Gaynelle Jones, Woodsboro; son, William Glenn Boenig, Inez; sister, Leona Klein, Seguin; and brother, Martin Boenig, Woodsboro; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
RHONDA M. REEVES
Funeral services for Rhonda M. Reeves, 33, of Houston were held Thursday, Sept. 7, 2000, in the chapel of Brookside Funeral Home with Damon Pabst officiating. Interment followed at Brookside Memorial Park.
She died Sept. 3. A special education teacher at Thomas B. Francis Elementary School of the Aldine Independent School District, she was a graduate of Texas A&M University and Aldine High School. She was a member of the Houston International Church of Christ.
She is survived by her mother, Harriet Reeves; brothers, Robert C. Reeves Jr. of Ganado and Harold G. Reeves.
ERNEST DEWIN WRIGHT
Funeral services for Ernest Dewin Wright, 95, of Edna, formerly of Port Lavaca, were held Saturday, Sept. 10, 2000, at Richardson Funeral Home Chapel with Johnnie Krause officiating. Interment followed at First Memorial Park Cemetery in Poteet with the Rev. Clyde Butter officiating.
Mr. Wright died Sept. 5. Born Nov. 12, 1904, in Miniola to the late George Warren and Alla Fair “Fairy” Bible Wright, he worked on the railroad in construction and was a Baptist.
Survivors include daughters, Peggy Wright Spencer and Florence Miller, both of Seadrift, Doris Carlson, California, and Billie Griffith, Cartersville, Ga.; son, Lawrence (Larry) Wright, Seadrift; 23 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Rains Wright; and daughters, Janie Bostick, Karen Vick and Fay Wright.
Pallbearers were Chuck Wright, James Peeler, Garland Spencer, Roy Anderson, Luke Smith, Lawrence Wright and Tommy Vick III.
OPAL LEE CAIN
Graveside services for Opal Lee Cain, 79, of Edna were held Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2000, at Garden of Memories in El Campo with the Rev. George Tompkins officiating.
Mrs. Cain died Sept. 9. Born July 16, 1921, in Bay City, to the late Louis and Sally Malone Plant, she was a homemaker.
Survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Pittaway, Woodward, Okla.; a son, Billy Ray Plant, Matagorda; sister, Isabel Morris, Edna; and a grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband Tom Cain.
ALTA MAE MOORE
Funeral services for Alta Mae Byers Bishop Moore, 87, of Edna were held Thursday, Sept. 21, 2000, at the Palacios Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Russell Minton officiating. Interment followed at the Palacios Cemetery.
Mrs. Moore died Sept. 19. Born Oct. 4, 1912, in Henderson County, Texas to the late Granville Marcus and Mollie Pearl Reed Byers, she was a resident of Edna since 1977 and was a former long-time resident of Palacios.
Survivors include daughters, Bobbie Burditt, Edwina Fenner and Mary Brown, all of Edna, and Charlene Rigdon, San Antonio; sons, Clarence Bishop, San Antonio, and Kenneth Bishop, South Padre Island; sister, Ann Charnetski, Tuscaloosa, AL; 24 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great- grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ernest “Eddie” Bishop; second husband, Charlie Moore; son, Ernest Edward Bishop; sisters, Opal Williams and Edith Harris; brothers, Thurman Byers and R.C. Byers.
NAOMI C. HERRMANN
Funeral services for Naomi Cruse Herrmann, 80, of Edna, formerly of El Campo, were held Saturday, Sept. 23, 2000, at First Baptist Church, Edna. The Rev. Rick DuBrock and the Rev. Jim Gilbert officiated. Interment followed at Garden of Memories in El Campo under the direction of Slavik Funeral Home of Edna.
Mrs. Herrmann died Sept. 21. Born Nov. 16, 1919, in Kentucky, to the late Oscar and Lena Kincaid Cruse, she was a retired caterer and owner-operator of Herrmann Catering and member of the First Baptist Church of El Campo and First Baptist Church of Edna. She was a member of Sons of Hermann of El Campo. She and the late Frank W. Herrmann were married Nov. 8, 1938, at El Campo.
Survivors include daughters, Maxine Price, Edna, and Clarice Lampe, Brenham; son-in-law, Paul Lampe, Brenham; sister, Dorothy Menotti, Dickinson; brother, Raymond Cruse, Hitchcock; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, Rick, Rhonda, Brooke and Meredith Kresta, Edna; Jeff and Rosalyn Kresta, Edna; and Ryan and Denise Lampe, Jackie and Susan of Brenham.
Pallbearers were Rick Kresta, Jeff Kresta, Ryan Lampe, Steven Schaper, Scott Menotti and Barry Hodges. Honorary pallbearers were members of the El Campo Volunteer Fire Department.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Edna or the El Campo Volunteer Fire Department.
LEITA McCALL ELKINS
Funeral services for Leita McCall Elkins, 90, of Edna are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 29, 2000, at First Baptist Church in Edna with the Rev. Jim Gilbert officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens of Edna under the direction of Slavik Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6-7 p.m. at Slavik Funeral Home Chapel in Edna.
Mrs. Elkins died Sept. 26. Born July 23, 1910, in Uvalde to the late Dr. Duncan and Dorothy Pruett McCall, she was a retired teacher and member of First Baptist Church of Edna. She retired from the Brazosport Independent School District in 1970. She had resided in Edna since her retirement.
A member of the Jackson County Retired Teachers Association, she received a bachelor of education degree from Baylor University and a master of education degree from the University of Houston-Houston.
Survivors include a daughter, Wynell Aaberg of Kerrville; granddaughter, Bronwyn Megginson of Matthews, N.C.; a great-grandson, Parker Megginson of Matthews, N.C.; and a great-granddaughter, Taylor Megginson of Matthews, N.C.
She was preceded in death by parents; and husband, Horace Elkins.

LUCILLE S. DAHLSTROM
Funeral services for Lucille Stehling Dahlstrom, 83, of Edna were held Friday, Sept. 15, 2000, at First United Methodist Church of Edna. The Rev. Russell Minton officiated. Interment followed at Memory Gardens of Edna under the direction of Slavik Funeral Home.
Mrs. Dahlstrom died Sept. 12. Born Nov. 25, 1916, in Victoria to the late William and Amelia Meiss Stehling, she was a homemaker and member of First United Methodist Church of Edna and Martha’s Circle. She and the late Herman “H. J.” Joseph Dahlstrom were married July 5, 1939, in Edna.
Survivors include a son, Joe Dahlstrom, Victoria; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by parents; husband, on Dec. 5, 1997; and sister, Wilhilma Knuppel.
Pallbearers were Glenn Knuppel, Allen Friedrich, David Gregory, Ed Dyer, Martin Moss and Bob Bolton. Honorary pallbearers were Woodrow Kickendahl and Mike Myers.
LINNIE INEZ CLARK
Funeral services for Linnie Inez Clark, 88, of Hallettsville were held Sunday, Sept. 24, 2000, at Kubena Funeral Home with the Rev. Terry Horton officiating. Interment followed at Speaks Cemetery under the direction of Kubena Funeral Home.
Mrs. Clark died Sept. 22. Born Sept. 23, 1911,in Speaks to the late Charley Cleveland Cook and Mary Amilie Gold Cook, she was a member of First Baptist Church. She and the late James Richard Clark were married July 22, 1929, in Hallettsville.
Survivors include daughter, Margaret Heath, Speaks; sons, Richard Clark, Houston, and Douglas Clark, Speaks; sister, Helen Kutach, Speaks; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband on June 27, 1964; parents; and two sisters, an infant and Annie Mary French.
Pallbearers were Grady Clark, Jack Heath Jr., Brandon Karl, Larry Bryan, Aaron Heath, Charles Finner, Jason Russell and Gabe Hawthorne. Honorary pallbearers were Sean Heath, Blake Heath, Maj. Bud Barnes, Clayton Clark, Coley Karl and Richard Clark.
