Services for ROBERT L. TAYLOR were held May 17 at Tomlinson Funeral Chapel in Seven Points.
Mr. Taylor was born Nov. 21, 1924 in Kaufman County and passed away May 14, 2006. He was a member of the Masons, Shriners, VFW in Seven Points and the Teamsters.
Mr. Taylor was preceded in death by his parents, Robert K. and Ona Taylor, brother Adrain Taylor and sisters Nadine Corley and Lola Fay Smith.
He is survived by his wife of 58 and 1/2 years, Henrietta; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Brenda Taylor of Mesquite; daughter and son-in-law, Vicki and Terry Flint of Mesquite; sister, Charlene Foster of Dallas, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Velma Ruth Fuller
Graveside services were held June 5 for VELMA RUTH FULLER, 82, of Kemp, at King Cemetery in the Aley Community officiated by Rev. Jim Renfro. Interment followed under the direction of Anderson Clayton Bros. Funeral Home of Kemp.
Mrs. Fuller was born Velma Ruth Laney on March 22, 1924 in Sulphur Springs, the daughter of Walter and Clair (Meade) Laney. She died June 2, 2006 at her home in Henderson County.
Mrs. Fuller grew up in Sulphur Springs and graduated from Rylie Springs High School in 1941. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Tolosa and she taught Sunday School classes. She was a loving mother and grandmother, raising children since she was 16 years old. Children were her life and she took care of countless nieces and nephews, or any child needing help.
Her husband, LeRoy Fuller, preceded her in death in 1978. She was also preceded in death by an infant grandson, Scott Fuller, and a brother, W.D. Laney.
Survivors include her sons, Laney Fuller and wife Dee of Kemp, Neal Fuller of Ponder, Tim Fuller and wife Shannon of Murchison, Brian K. Fuller of Kemp and Matthew Risler of Kemp; daughters, Tina Carter and husband Bryan of Hurst, Velma Lee Morris and husband Frank of Hurst, Paula Fruge of Denton, Deborah Risler of Arlington and Catherine Risler of Hurst; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and a sister, Edith Petrik of Duncanville.
Pallbearers were Tim Fuller, Brian K. Fuller, Jerry Neal, John Tally, Gary Laney and Timothy Fuller.
Kallie Renee Whitworth
Services were held for infant KALLIE Reneé Whitworth at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 30, at Anderson Clayton Bros. Funeral Home in Kemp, with Rev. Jim Addison officiating. Burial followed in the Shiloh Cemetery in Kaufman County.
Baby Kallie Reneé, daughter of Jeff Wayne and Kimberly Reneé (Chandler) Whitworth, was taken from us on May 27, 2006. Survivors include mother and father, Jeff and Kim Whitworth of Kemp; sisters, Ashley Chandler, and Brooke Davis, both of Kemp; brother, Aspen Whitworth of Kaufman; maternal grandfather, Danny Chandler of Kemp; maternal great-grandparents, Cotton and Sharon Shelton of Kemp; paternal grandparents, Roger and Janie Whitworth of Gun Barrel City; and numerous aunts, uncles, and other relatives.
Elmo Darius Whitten
Services were held June 14 for ELMO DARIUS WHITTEN, 82, of Mabank, at Anderson Clayton Bros. Funeral Home in Kemp with Rev. Bobby Jock officiating. Interment followed at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas.
Mr. Whitten was born in Ladonia on March 20, 1924 and died at his residence in Mabank on June 12, 2006.
He was a member of the Full Gospel Tabernacle Church in Eustace and was a music director at the church. He played the guitar and sang. Mr. Whitten was a veteran, serving in the Army during World War II.
His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Adrian Whitten and three brothers, Orville, Bobby and Dub, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn, of Mabank; daughters, Linda Said of Mesquite, Janie Francis and husband Earl of Tool and Linda Whitten of Texas; sons, Donald Whitten and wife Sonja of Gun Barrel City and Billy Shepard and wife Vicki of Rowlett; 12 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
Joel Ernie Dunn
Services for JOEL ERNIE DUNN, 52, of Copeville, were held June 8 at the Eubank Memorial Chapel in Mabank with the Rev. David Brann officiating.
Burial followed at Oaklawn Cemetery in Mabank under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home.
Mr. Dunn was born Aug. 13, 1953 in Mabank and passed away June 5, 2006 in Rowlett.
Previously of Bonham, he was a resident of Copeville for 20 years and was an ordained minister. Mr. Dunn was married for 23 years and was a loving family man who loved watching his kids play sports.
He is survived by his wife Alice, son Cadey Sturgis Dunn and daughter Cortney Michelle Dunn, all of Copeville; sisters Pat Raz of Canton and Carolyn Dunn of Eustace; numerous nieces and nephews, all of Copeville; other family members and a host friends.
Robert L. Umfleet
Robert L. Umfleet, 67, died July 20, 2006 in Estes Park, Colo. while vacationing with his family.
He was born May 5, 1939 in Desloge, Mo., the son of Harry and Leona Umfleet.
He served in the U.S. Army for nine years and received a purple heart. He was a Mason.
Umfleet married Patsy Hollowell on Feb. 8, 1974 and moved to the Cedar Creek Lake area in July of 1974. He was ordained a deacon in 1986 at Lively Missionary Baptist Church in Kemp.
He and Patsy moved to Mabank in 1997 and he served the Lord as deacon and Sunday School teacher at First Baptist Church of Gun Barrel City.
Mr. Umfleet is survived by his wife, Patsy of Mabank; three sons, Michael Umfleet and wife Stephanie of Carrollton, Keith Hollowell of Mabank and Brad Umfleet and wife Debbie of Grapevine; daughter, Rhonda Eucher and husband Bob of Rockwall; nine grandchildren; two brothers and two sisters.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kimberly Umfleet Barnes; two brothers, Neal and Donald Umfleet and his mother and father, Harry and Leona Umfleet.
Services were held July 26 at First Baptist Church of Gun Barrel City with Pastor Byron Jones officiating.
Interment was at Cedar Creek Memorial Park under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home.
Ruby Anna Eckhoff
Mrs. Ruby Anna Eckhoff of Corsiciana passed away July 27, 2006 at Heritage Oaks Village. She was born Oct. 25, 1913 at Lincoln, Mo. Parents were Claus and Anna (Muller) Gerdts.
She was baptized Nov. 9, 1913 at Zion Lutheran in Lincoln, Ohio and was confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran on April 10, 1927 in Lincoln, Ohio.
On Oct. 9, 1932 she was united in marriage to Ralph J. Eckhoff of Cole Camp who preceded her in death on March 23, 1989. One daughter, Kathleen, was born to this union.
She lived over 60 years in Cole Camp, Mo. where she was employed for 26 years at Black and White Market.
She was a long time member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Cole Camp. She was an active member of LWML and enjoyed working in the church circles and preparing for the annual Golden Age Banquet. She served on the city Zoning & Planning Committee and the county FHA committee.
Ruby volunteered her time at Good Samaritan Nursing Home with game activities and decorating changes. She was a fine artist, painting in oils. She worked with crafts and grew beautiful flowers and was an avid Bridge player. Traveling with friends and family gave her much pleasure.
In 1992 she moved to Texas to be near her daughter and family and in 2005 she entered Heritage Oaks Retirement Village.
She is suvived by her daughter, Kathleen Echo Riecke and husband Melvin of Corsicana; three grandchildren, Kathryn Kay Tobaben and husband Rod of Red Oak, Gene Riecke and wife Susanna of Ennis and Randy Riecke and wife Susan of Dallas; nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; one living brother, Elmer Gerdts and wife Martha of Klarinda Iowa; three sisters-in-law, Kleona of Clarinda, Iowa, Hazel Coe and Lena Gerdts of Kansas City, Mo. and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Irvin, Harry, Rudy and Leroy Gerdts; one sister, Della Gerdts Perkins and two sisters-in-law, Marie Gerdts and Delta Gerdts.
Services were held July 29 at Faith Lutheran Church. Graveside services were held July 30 at New Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Cole Camp, Mo. under the direction of Corley Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were grandsons and great-grandsons.

Harold Draughon
Services for HAROLD DRAUGHON, 80, of Mabank, were held Aug. 1 at Eubank Memorial Chapel with Mr. Ken Maddox officiating.
Interment followed at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Mabank under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home.
Mr. Draughon was born Aug. 12, 1925 in Martins Mill and passed away July 30, 2006 in Mabank.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and his occupation was a security guard. He was a member of Beacon Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife Mary of Mabank; sons Harold C. Draughon Jr. of Trinidad, Dwight E. Draughon and wife Paula of Mabank, Robert W. Draughon and wife Kelly of Mesquite and Michael D. Draughon and wife Demata of Mabank; daughter Karen Annette Emmons of Mabank; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers Virgil Draughon of Whitehouse and Hoyle Draughon of Trinidad; sister Lucille Stone of Texas and Neil Johnson of Scurry.
Thomas Frank Cherry Sr.
Services for Thomas Frank Cherry Sr. were held July 30 at Tomlinson Funeral Chapel in Seven Points with Eston Williams officiating. Interment followed in Payne Springs Cemetery under the direction of Tomlinson Funeral Home of Seven Points.
Cherry was born in Birmingham, Ala. on July 15, 1952 and passed away July 25, 2006 in Dayton, Ohio.
He was employed by Auto Truck Transport and was a member of Machine & Aerospace Union, Local 83, Dallas.
Cherry was preceded in death by his parents, Dossy and Nira Cherry, and brother Bobby Cherry.
He is survived by sons Brady and Tommy Cherry; daughters Teresa Stacy and Marchelle Cherry; sisters Sue Crawford, Teresa Johnston and Karen Sunderland and brothers Herman and Wesley Cherry.
Martha Ann Cates
Services for Martha Ann Cates of Weatherford were held Aug. 2 in Tomlinson Funeral Home, Seven Points with James Ragsdale officiating. Mrs. Cates was born in Conroe Oct. 23, 1944 and passed away in Fort Worth July 29, 2006.
She is survived by three sons, Kenneth Ray Cates of Springtown, Garland Cates and Michael Cates, both of Weatherford and three sisters, Verna Jean Parish, Linda Mahomed and Renda Reynolds, all of Seven Points.
Interment was in Mankin Cemetery, Mankin under the direction of Tomlinson Funeral Home, Seven Points.
Ann Martin Cole
Services for ANN MARTIN COLE of Tyler were held June 7 at Stewart Family Funeral Chapel with Dr. Bob Roberts and Chaplin Roy Devisscher officiating. Burial followed in Tyler Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home.
Ms. Cole passed away June 5, 2006, her 90th birthday, in Tyler with her loving family by her side.
She was born June 5, 1916 in McKinney to the late Mattie Belle Fletcher and Melton James Fletcher. Ann graduated from high school in Louann, Alaska where she excelled in basketball. Following her graduation she moved to Tyler where she attended Federal Institute Business College.
In the early ’50s she began her employment with the Chapel Hill Independent School District. Ms. Martin, as she was known in the community, retired in 1976 as the director of food services. During her years at Chapel Hill she received various awards, including a lifetime membership in PTA, for her contributions to the community.
Ann was preceded in death by her husbands, Charlie E. Martin in 1974 and Hiram S. Cole in 2004; brothers, Wesley Fletcher, James Fletcher and Bobby Fletcher; sisters, Mozelle Fletcher and Ruth McKinney and stepson, Mike Cole.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Marian and Pat Manchack of Kingwood and Judy and Gerald Jedlicka of Kemp; sister, Betty Renfro of Vidalia, La.; brothers and spouses, R.C. and Jamie Fletcher of Orange and Bill and Faye Fletcher of Clayton, La.; step-children and spouses, Beverly and Jerry Nikens of Austin and Jerry and Linda Cole of Tyler; four grandchildren, six stepchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers included Doug Cole, Rick Fletcher, Jerry Jedlicka, Matt Manchack, Keith Nabors and Danny Renfro.
Mark Wayne McConnell
Mark Wayne McCONNELL, 45, of Corsicana, passed away Aug. 4 in Corsicana. He was born May 19, 1981 in Dallas. He was an auto glass installer by trade. Corley Funeral Home of Corsicana was in charge of arrangements through the Twin Oaks Crematory.
Survivors include his daughter, Cynthia Dawn McConnell of Midwest City, Okla; son, Jonathan McConnell of Kemp; sisters, Elizabeth Fay Pon and Linda Diane Wornkey, both of Rockport; grandson, Christopher McConnell of Midwest City, Okla. and fiancˇ, Gail Guentzel of Rockport.

Betty Lou Musselwhite
Services for Betty Lou Musselwhite, 68, of Kemp, were held Aug. 7 at Anderson Clayton Bros. Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Haines and Joe Musselwhite officiating. Interment followed in the Kemp Cemetery under the direction of Anderscon Clayton Bros. Funeral Home.
She was born Betty Lou Grubb on Feb. 16, 1938 in Bristol, Va., the daughter of Herschel and Ruby (Faidley) Grubb. She died Aug. 3, 2006 in Athens.
Mrs. Musselwhite was a member of Tolosa Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Musselwhite; mother, and her sister, Patty Mitchell.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Tonya Musselwhite of Trinidad; daughters and sons-in-law, Jennifer and Daniel Cummings of Palestine and Cindy and John Brown of Kemp; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; father, Herschel Grubb of Bristol, Tenn. and brothers, Kenneth Grubb of New Jersey, Mark Grubb of Roanoke, Va., Phillip Grubb of Rockhill, South Carolina and Ronnie Grubb of Toms River, New Jersey.
Pallbearers were Cody Musselwhite, Shane Musselwhite, Bubba Cummings, Christopher Herndon, Joshua Brown and Jonathan Brown.
Ronald Lockridge Lindsey
RONALD LOCKRIDGE LINDSEY, 61, of Kemp, was born Jan. 10, 1945 in Lubbock, the son of Fred and Virgie McCann Lindsey, and passed away Aug. 10, 2006 in Athens.
He is survived by his children, Rolanda Hutchins, Ritchie Lindsey, Rosalind Baker and her husband Mitch, Rose Marie Askew and DeShaunda Lindsey: his children’s mother, Cleo Lindsey; grandchildren, Gus Hutchins, Nicolette Hutchins, Kasey Markham, Brittany Markham, Ryan Lindsey and Clayton Lindsey and sisters, Ava Nell Robertson, Marjorie Bogard and Rebecca Boreman.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Arthur "Bud" Lindsey.
Graveside services were held Aug. 12 at the Kemp Cemetery under the direction of Anderson Clayton Bros. Funeral Home of Kemp.
