Mr. Kenneth Glen Markwordt, age 76 of Kerrville, passed away Monday, January 19, 2004 in Harper, TX. He was born October 25, 1927 in Harper to Armand and Edna (Sonnier) Markwordt. He married Earline Johnson on August 14, 1950 in Kerrville.
Kenneth was a bus driver for the Kerrville Bus Company for 42 years and a member of the Retired Bus Drivers Association. He was also a member of First Baptist Church in Kerrville.
He is survived by his wife, Earline Markwordt of Kerrville; two daughters, Janet Meredith and husband, Jeff of San Diego, CA and Cindy Hough and husband, Volney of Mt. Home, TX; son, Jeff Markwordt and wife, Karen of Kerrville; two sisters, Betty Garrison and husband, Paul of Medina and Bonnie Greebon and husband, Kenneth of Medina; two brothers, Armand Markwordt, Jr., and wife, Billie of Ingram and Charles Markwordt of Harper; and two grandchildren, Kenny Hough of Mt. Home and Taylor Markwordt of Kerrville.
Services will be held Monday, January 26, 2004, 2:00 p.m. at Grimes Funeral Chapels, officiated by Dr. David McFadden and Rev. Frankie Enloe. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Bloys Camp Meeting Association in Ft. Davis.

Stanley Robert Martin, born August 27, 1984 in Kerrville, Texas, went to be with our Lord on May 18th, 2003.
He is survived by his father, Troy S. Martin; mother, Jan M. Touchtone; two sisters, Katie M. Estrada and Heather M. Sinclair; two nephews, Jesse R. Estrada and Jonathon L. Estrada; and many loving Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and wonderful, caring friends who all will miss him deeply.
Services will be held Wednesday, May 21, 2003, 10:00 a.m. at Grimes Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jack Cook officiating. Interment will follow at Wagram Cemetery in Fredonia, Texas immediately after the funeral service.
Pallbearers will be Matt, Don, John, Cody, Marcus, Dave and Corey. Honorary pallbearers will be Ben Adams, Corey Adams, Jon Adams, Andy McBee, Kyle McBee, Fred Lohn and Tom Lohn.

Diana M. Martinez, age 45 of Bandera, died Sunday, July 25, 2004 at her residence. She was born July 3, 1959 in San Antonio to Salomon Martinez and Maria Del Pilar Hernandez Martinez.
Diana had a special love for all animals.
Survivors include her husband, Jim Webb of Bandera; mother, Mary Martinez of San Antonio; daughter, Angelic Martinez and husband, Adrian of San Antonio; sons, Guadalupe Reyes, III, of San Antonio, and Mike Reyes of San Antonio; sister, Margaret Aleman of San Antonio, and nine grandchildren, Angelique, Adrian, Jr., Joey, Lauren, Gabriel, Matthew, Chastity, Harley and Raven.
She was preceded in death by son, Buddy Reyes and brother, Andrew Martinez.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Veva Maureen Massingill

Veva Maureen "Granny" Massingill, 82, of Ingram passed away Saturday, May 31, 2003, at her home.
She was born in Fort Worth, Texas, on May 11, 1921, to Dell and Ora Little.
She moved to Ingram thirteen years ago to be closer to her family after living many years in Duncanville, Texas, where she was a real estate broker. She was affectionately known as "Granny" by hundreds of students at Ingram Elementary School where she was the "ice cream lady" for eleven years.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She had been active and held a number of leadership positions in both the Ingram and Duncanville posts of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Rebekahs, and the American Business Women’s Association (ABWA).
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Don Williams of Ingram; grandchildren Christopher Williams and his spouse Briana of Ingram; Lisa Clark and spouse Gary of Houston; Timothy Williams of Salt Lake City, Utah; and Joshua Williams of Duncanville, Texas. In addition, she is survived by great grandchildren Kallie, Cameron, Kaitlyn and Christian Clark of Houston and Sierra dn Ridge Williams of Ingram.
The family will receive visitors at Grimes Funeral Chapels in Kerrville from 6:00 P. M. Until 7:30 P. M. On Monday, June 2nd.
Services will be held at 3:00 P. M. On Tuesday, June 3rd at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 202 Coronado Drive in Kerrville. Interment will be at Restland Cemetery in Dallas.
Pallbearers will be Donald Williams, Christopher Williams, Timothy Williams, Joshua Williams, Gary Clark and Tom Klaerner.

Jo Anna Mathis, age 56, a long time resident of Center Point, passed away Monday, July 19, 2004 in a Kerrville hospital. She was born in Port Arthur, TX to Gil K. Phares and Mary B. (Bailey) Phares.
Jo Anna attended Southern Methodist University and was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority and the Main Street manager in Lufkin, TX. Jo Anna lived in the Hill Country for 12 years. She was employed at the Starlite Recovery Center in Center Point and the Hill Country Memorial Hospital in Fredericksburg. She was of the Methodist faith.
She is proudly survived by son, Major Mathis of Center Point; daughter, Alexis Mathis Rimes and husband, Terrill of Austin; mother, Mary Phares of Hunt; brothers, Dan Phares of Beaumont and Banker Phares of Groves; nieces, Candace Simmons of Groves and Denae Phares of Arkadelphia, AR; and nephews, Johnsa Phares of Bedford and Rhett Phares of Nacogdoches.
Memorial services will be held Friday, July 23, 2004, 4:30 p.m. at Grimes Funeral Chapels, officiated by Rev. John Green.

Erma Kathleene Boone Matlock passed away December 2, 2004 in Kerrville, Texas. She was 93 years old. She was born July 16, 1911 in Van Buren, Arkansas to Cirus Calvin Boone and Winford Harris Boone.
Mrs. Matlock was a member of the United Methodist Church. She was employed by Sears and Central Michigan University for many years and also worked as an Avon sales person. She and her husband moved to Kerrville 30 years ago and in later years she helped care for her elderly neighbors in Kerrville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Edwin Webster Matlock, a son, Marshall Ray Matlock, her brothers, Noel, Leon, and Jimmy Boone and her sisters, Teresa Boone and Mary Lee Smith.
She is survived by a sister-in-law, Renna Santacroce of Van Buren, Arkansas; a very special friend, Sheila Bandy of Kerrville who gave her such loving care; numerous nephews and nieces, and many good friends and neighbors.
Mrs. Matlock donated her body to the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, Texas. No services will be held. Memorial donations may be made to Sid Peterson Hospice or a charity of choice.

Mr. Jim McCallum, age 66, a resident of Ingram for three years, passed away Monday, February 2, 2004 at his residence. He was born June 21, 1937 in Canada to Allan and Eva McCallum. On June 20, 1987, he married Judith Louise Foster in Denver, CO.
Jim was a prior resident of Hilo, Hawaii. He was a geologist for Patrick Petroleum.
Survivors include his wife, Judi McCallum of Kerrville; daughter, Pamela Swettenam of Aurora, CO; son, Patrick Fahey of Aurora, CO; brother, Peter McCallum of Idaho, Murray McCallum of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada; Hugh McCallum of Langley, British Columbia, Canada and Doug McCallum of Washington State.

Kay C. McCoy, age 62 of Bandera, died Friday, May 9, 2003 at her residence. She was born in Elizabeth Town, Kentucky to Samuel Kirk Crawford, Jr., and Harriette May Pitchford Crawford. Kay was a professional tailor and also worked in Real Estate/Title work for 20 years prior to becoming disabled twenty years ago. She graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1958 and attended Eastern Kentucky State University.
Survivors include daughter, Elizabeth "Libby" Kendall Morrison of Virginia; son, Harry Kendall Morrison of North Carolina; two sisters, Emily Swigert of Shelbyville, KY and Patti Lynn Carwell of Long Island, NY; one brother, Sam K. Crawford, III of Lewisville, KY; grandchildren, Vicki Watson Leal of Bandera, Clarence E. Watson, Jr., and two grandchildren from Virginia and North Carolina; and eight great grandchildren (5 from Bandera). She was preceded in death by her husband, William Murry McCoy, Jr., and daughter, Anne Harrison Cliff.
Services will be held Tuesday, May 13, 2003, 2:00 p.m., Grimes Chapel, with Chaplain Janet Hunter officiating. Interment will follow at Bandera Cemetery.

Dr. Lynn Wade McCraw

Dr. Lynn Wade McCraw passed away on June 15, 2004 at the Sid Peterson Hospital in Kerrville, Texas at the age of eighty-nine years. He was born on October 26, 1914 in Bonham, Texas. His parents were Newton Keene McCraw and Cora May Lynn.
Lynn graduated from Sherman High School in 1932 where he lettered in football. He graduated from Austin College in 1937. While in college he was an all-conference football player and captain of the team his senior year. After graduation, he accepted a position as English teacher and Director of the Intramural Sports Program at Schreiner Institute in Kerrville, Texas. He remained at Schreiner Institute until 1941 when he joined the US Army.
From 1941 to 1946 he served in the United States Army advancing from Private to Major. He served in the United States Army Reserves from 1946 until his retirement in 1974 as a Lieutenant Colonel.
Lynn Wade McCraw married his beloved Matilda (Tillie) Marie Real on June 5, 1943 at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Kerrville. Tillie preceded Lynn in death on January 30, 1993.
He received his Master’s Degree from the University of Texas in 1946, and in 1948, he received his Doctorate and was given a faculty appointment at the University of Texas, Department of Physical and Health Education. Dr. McCraw remained a faculty member in the department until his retirement in 1985.
Dr. McCraw’s contributions to his profession and the Department of Kinesiology and Health Education at the University of Texas are immeasurable. He served as Professor and Chairperson of the Department from 1958 to 1973 and as Graduate Advisor from 1960 to 1973. Dr. McCraw taught courses for the Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral programs at the University of Texas. He supervised 60 Master’s theses, and 18 Doctoral dissertations. Dr. McCraw conducted research in strength development and motor learning. He published over 40 professional articles and delivered more than 70 invited lectures on his research and professional interests. He served for 32 years on the State Executive Committee of the University Interscholastic League.
Dr. McCraw was active in many professional associations and served as Vice-President of the AAHPERD (American Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance) and as President of the Texas Association (TAHPERD) from 1953-1954. After his Presidency, he continued to serve the association for 30 years until 1985 as its Executive-Secretary-Treasurer. Dr. McCraw and Tillie edited the association’s journal during this time. Dr. McCraw’s contributions to his profession have been nationally recognized. In 1984, the students in the Department of Kinesiology and Health Education created the Lynn W. McCraw Excellence Award to be given annually to the outstanding student in the department. Later, the TAHPERD named their annual lecture after Dr. McCraw. In 1985, Dr. McCraw was appointed as Professor Emeritus at the University of Texas.
He was active in the American Cancer Society and served on the Board of Directors of the Travis County Unit from 1966 to 1987.
He was inducted into the Fannin County Sports Hall of Fame.
Dr. McCraw and his wife, Tillie enjoyed spending time on their ranch in Kerr County.
He was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Austin for over 50 years.
He is survived by a sister, Katie Gopffarth of Bonham, Texas and a brother, Delbert McCraw and his sister-in-law, Josephine McCraw of Dallas, Texas; a sister-in-law, Bertha Priour and brother-in-law, Aime Frank Real, both of Kerrville, Texas and by numerous, loving niece and nephews.
Services will be held Saturday, June 19, 2004, 2:00 p.m. at Grimes Funeral Chapels, Kerrville, Texas, officiated by Rev. Joe Taylor. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Louis Real, James Wallace, Donald Priour, Jr., James W. Priour, III, Tony Harden and Aime A. Real.
