Mrs. Pauline Lola Gaulden, age 81 of Llano,TX, passed away Thursday, October 2, 2003 at a Kerrville care center. She was born in Sentinel, OK on October 28, 1921 to Thomas Carroll Byas and Lillian Bertha (Coffee) Byas. On August 10, 1940, she married Richard Homer Gaulden, Jr. in Burnett, TX.

Pauline was a public accountant and a member of the First Baptist Church in Llano, TX.

She is survived by her brother, Joseph O. Byas of Clovis, CA and a sister in law, Beulah Byas of Kerrville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Homer Gaulden, Jr.; parents, Thomas and Lillian Byas; and three brothers, Thomas C. Byas, Jr., Gerald Lee Byas and Loyd Monroe Byas.

Graveside services will be Tuesday, October 7, 2003, 11:00 a.m. at Llano City Cemetery in Llano, TX, with Rev. Rick Cundieff officiating.

Those who desire may make memorial contributions to a favorite charity.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of GRIMES FUNERAL CHAPELS of Kerrville.

Milton Arnold Gibson Hoot, Sr.
Born in Harper, TX on November 15, 1912
Departed on January 24, 2003 and resided in Kerrville, TX.

Mr. Milton "Hoot" Arnold Gibson, Sr., age 90 of Kerrville, passed away, Friday, January 24, 2003 at a private care facility. He was born November 15, 1912 to John Henry Gibson and Amanda Louise (Markwordt) Gibson in Harper, TX. He married Willa Mae Braden in Kerrville on November 7, 1936. She preceded him in death on November 19, 2001.

Hoot was self employed in the dry cleaning business. He owned Model Cleaners for over 20 years and worked as a realtor until his retirement. He was a 50 year Mason and a lifetime member of the Kerrville Masonic Lodge #697, a member of the Alzafar Shrine Center and Chapter & Council.

Survivors include his son, Milton "Hoot" Arnold Gibson, Jr. and wife, Linda of Kerrville; one nephew, David Patrick Braden and his children, Betsy, Seth and Patrick of Kerrville; one niece, Barbara Biggerstaff and husband David and their children, Laurie, Casey and Patrick of Durham, NC; and one grandson, Milton "Trey" Arnold Gibson, III of Nashville, TN.

Services will be held, Monday, January 27, 2003, 11:00 a.m. at Glen Rest Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hal & Charlie Peterson Foundation, 515  Jefferson, Kerrville, TX 78028.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of GRIMES FUNERAL CHAPELS of Kerrville.

Annette Geron Gilbert
Born in Paris, TX on September 7, 1915
Departed on February 8, 2004, and resided in Kerrville, TX

Annette Geron Gilbert passed away early Sunday morning following a long illness, at Hilltop Village Nursing Home, where she has been a resident since June, 2003. She was 88. Annette and her husband Philip moved to Kerrville in 1972 following Philip’s retirement from Central Power and Light Company. They lived in Victoria and Corpus Christi during Philip’s career with CPL, moving from San Antonio in 1943. Annette used her business education (Draughon’s Business College, San Antonio) in a variety of positions at businesses in both San Antonio and Victoria. After retirement to Kerrville, Annette and Philip transferred their membership from First United Methodist of Victoria to Kerrville First United Methodist Church where they both volunteered in various capacities. Annette became involved with the Hill Country Quilt Guild, making quilts for the Ronald McDonald House as well as friends and family.

She was born Annette Geron on September 7, 1915 in Paris,  Texas to Harrison Geron and Nettie Wetzel Geron. Harrison Geron battled tuberculosis for many years ultimately moving his family to Kerrville where he could be treated at the Kerrville Sanatorium. Annette graduated from Tivy High School in 1932. She subsequently moved to San Antonio to attend business college and met and married Philip O. Gilbert there in 1937.

Annette is survived by her children and grandchildren, Philip Michael Gilbert of Houston, Gay F. Gilbert of Kerrville and Pat K. Gilbert and wife, Christi Gilbert of Denver, Colorado and their children, Allison Kate and Daniel Patrick; Annette’s brother, Harry R. Geron and his wife, Alice of San Antonio.

Annette was predeceased by her husband, Philip in 1991; her brother, Francis R. Geron and sister, Sarah G. Sherman.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, February 12, 2004, 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Kerrville, officiated by Dr. Warren Hornung.

The family wishes to acknowledge the wonderful care, kindness, and prayers extended to and for Annette by the staff of the D wing at Hilltop Village as well as the cards, calls, prayers and many thoughtful kindnesses on the part of Annette’s many loving friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hilltop Village Nursing Home, 1400 Hilltop Circle, Kerrville, TX 78028; First United Methodist Church of Kerrville, 321 Thompson Dr., Kerrville, TX 78028 or Riverside Nature Center, 150 Francisco Lemos, Kerrville, TX 78028.

Lorri S. Gjerdingen
Born in Bejou, MN on December 12, 1927

Mrs. Lorri S. Gjerdingen, age 75 of Kerrville, passed away Monday, November 3, 2003 in a San Antonio hospital. She was born in Bejou, MN on December 12, 1927 to William and Pauline (Dvorzhak) Shalicky. On June 25, 1949, she married Owen Paul "Bud" Gjerdingen in Minneapolis, MN.

Lorri was a resident of Kerrville for 15 years and a prior resident of Red Lake Falls, MN. She was a registered nurse.

Survivors include her husband, Bud Gjerdingen of Kerrville; daughter, Col. Kristi Lee Crosby of Tunisia, North Africa; son, Robert Owen Gjerdingen of Chicago; sister, Lee Huggins of Apopka, FL and grandson, Owen Gjerdingen.

No services will be held.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Kathleen C. Cailloux Humane Society, 2900 Junction Hwy., Kerrville, TX 78028.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of GRIMES FUNERAL CHAPELS of Kerrville.

Dr. John H. Goforth, D.V.M.
Born in Bristow, OK on March 11, 1923
Departed on October 29, 2003, and resided in Kerrville, TX.

Dr. John H. Goforth, D.V.M., born in Bristow,  Oklahoma, March 11, 1923, died Wednesday morning, October 29, 2003 at home in Kerrville, in the loving care of his family, after a long bout with leukemia. Dr. Goforth, an area veterinarian for 18 years, moved to Kerrville in 1977. He received his D.V.M. degree from Kansas State University in 1949 and practiced veterinary medicine in Sandpoint, Idaho from 1949 to 1951. Dr. Goforth then served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951-1955 before moving to Olympia,  Washington where he reestablished his veterinary practice and remained until 1977.

Dr. Goforth is survived by his wife, Elizabeth B. Goforth of Kerrville; his daughter, Dr. Joane Baumer and her husband, Dr. Nat Baumer of Ft. Worth,  Texas; sons, William Goforth and his wife, Diane of Tenino,  Washington, Rayo Goforth of Ashland, Oregon, James Goforth and his wife, Patti of Kerrville, Michael Goforth and his wife, Lynnette of Olympia,  Washington, and Daniel Goforth of Seattle,  Washington. His grandchildren are Ben, Sam, Zac, and Nik Baumer, Gina Goforth, Jamiell Goforth, James and Justin Goforth and Hunter Goforth.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or charity of your choice. A memorial service will be held at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Kerrville, Saturday, November 1st at 11:00 a.m.

Lilia P. Gonzalez
Born in Valparaiso, Zac., Mexico on January 17, 1963

Mrs. Lilia P. Gonzalez, age 41 of Kerrville, passed away Wednesday, May 12, 2004 at her residence. She was born January 17, 1963 in Valparaiso Zac., Mexico to Guadalupe Perez Avila and Elidia Rodriguez Madera. On February 15, 1986, she married Jose A. Gonzalez in Valparaiso Zac., Mexico.
Lilia worked in housekeeping at Sid Peterson Memorial Hospital for 13 years.

She is survived by her husband, Jose A. Gonzalez of Kerrville; parents, Elidia Rodriguez Madera and Guadalupe Perez Avila, both of Kerrville; children, Nathalie Gonzalez, Eric Gonzalez, Sergio Gonzalez and Daniel Gonzalez, all of Kerrville; sisters, Alicia Perez Rodriguez of Kerrville, Silvia P. Rodriguez of Comfort and Yolanda Perez Rodriguez of Center Point; and brothers, Ramon Perez of Comfort, Guadalupe Perez, Jose Luis Perez and Jesus Perez, all of Mexico.

Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be Thursday, May 13, 2004, 7:00 p.m. at Grimes Funeral Chapels, officiated by Deacon Juan Martinez.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, May 14, 2004, 9:30 a.m. at Notre Dame Catholic Church with Father Michael Boulette as celebrant. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Luis Venegas, Jose A. Gonzalez, Eric Gonzalez, Ramon Perez, Erminio Araujo and Daniel Araujo.

Horace E. Goodrich, Sr.
Born on December 26, 1922 in Chicago, IL
Departed on March 20, 2007 and resided in Center Point, TX

Service Date: March 23, 2007

Mr. Horace E. Goodrich, Sr., age 84 of Center Point,  Texas passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2007 in a Kerrville hospital. He was born on December 26, 1922 in Chicago, IL to Grant Goodrich and Anne Claybaugh Goodrich. He was a 30 year resident of Center Point, formerly residing in Kerrville and Kerr Co. for many years. He operated a beer and soft drink distribution business for many years. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II and was in the U.S. Air Force Reserve for many years.
He spent many hours at the Dietert Claim, playing bridge and visiting with his friends as well as being an avid golfer after his retirement.

He married Eloise Hodges on December 29, 1945 in Center Point,  Texas. She survives along with three sons, Horace E. Goodrich, Jr. & wife Stella of Center Point, Robert Goodrich & wife Elizabeth of Georgetown, TX and Grant Goodrich & wife Janice of Manchester, Maryland; four grandchildren, Michael, John, Bryce and Carmen and four great grandchildren.

Graveside services for Mr. Goodrich will be held on Friday, March 23, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Center Point Cemetery with Rev. Bill Treude officiating.

The family will receive friends at the residence on Stoneleigh Road following the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial to the Dietert Claim.

Frank L. Gowin
Born in Cedar Grove, LA on August 16, 1921
Departed on July 26, 2004, and resided in Kerrville, TX

Frank L. Gowin of Kerrville died Monday, July 26, 2004, at Sid Peterson Hospital after a short illness. He would have been 83 on August 16.
Frank was born in Shreveport,  Louisiana, in 1921. He grew up in  Oklahoma; then his family moved to California in 1937. He enlisted in the Army in April 1942 and served "the duration plus six" like so many of his generation. He saw combat with the British Rangers in France, then with the Third Infantry Division in North Africa, Italy, and France again after the D-Day invasion, Germany, and then Austria during the first part of the occupation.

Frank is survived by his wife of 61 years, Verna Gowin, of Kerrville; two sisters: Esther Hudson and Carolyn Cochran; two brothers: Herbert Gowin and Kenneth Gowin; three children: Karola Anne Tisdale, Carla Clark, and Ron Gowin; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held at the First Baptist Church on  Washington Street Saturday, July 24. The memorial service was held prior to Frank’s passing because many of his family members had to return home.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Grimes Funeral Chapels of Kerrville.

Jimmie Donald Gray
Born in Bandera, TX on March 10, 1938

Jimmie Donald Gray, age 65, died Wednesday, January 28, 2004 in a San Antonio hospital. He was born March 10, 1938 in Bandera to Marion Elmer Gray and Alice Fay  Whitehead Gray. On August 5, 1963, he married Ok Chom Pack in Seoul, Korea. She preceded him in death on June 26, 2001.

He served in the Army during the Korean War, worked in the maintenance department at the Bandera Independent School District, and was a member of the Bandera United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his mother, Faye Gray of Bandera; daughter, Zale Gray of Kerrville; sons, Thomas Wayne Gray and wife, Dawn of Kerrville; Jimmie Lee Gray of Kerrville; and Ray Neal Gray of Bandera; sister, Barbara Jean Cryer of Leander, TX; and granddaughter, Katryna Arlene Gray of Kerrville.

He was preceded in death by his father, Doc Gray.

Services will be held Saturday, January 31, 2004, 10:00 a.m., Grimes Funeral Chapels in Bandera, officiated by Mr. Martin Smith. Interment will follow in the Bandera Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Thomas Wayne Gray, Jimmie Lee Gray, Ray Neal Gray, Allen Wade Cryer, Brian Keith Cryer and James Duff.

Honorary pallbearers will be Allen Neal, Randy Evans, Shawn Cryer, Bobby Searcy and David Ray Stevens.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to GRIMES FUNERAL CHAPELS of Bandera.
