J.G. BURNETT
November 16, 2005

J.G. Burnett, 80, of Andrews passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2005 at his daughters home in Andrews.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, November 19, 2005 at First Baptist Church in Andrews. Bryan  Johnson of Home Hospice in Andrews will officiate. Burial will be in Andrews West Cemetery.

Mr. Burnett was born July 23, 1925 in Limestone,  Oklahoma. He married Eva Lee Welch March 29, 1944 in Carlsbad, NM. They moved to Andrews in 1963 from Carlsbad. He was a Cotton Farmer. He also worked for International Minerals Corporation, J&J Steel, Andrews County, and Tucker Construction. He liked to hunt and fish and go camping. He loved his Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren. He loved farming, and his John Deere tractor. He was preceded in death by; His parents-Jethro and Zora Burnett; 3 Brothers- Velon, Vernon and Jack Burnett; and Granddaughter- Keni Lee Thompson.

J.G. is survived by: Wife Eva Lee Burnett of Andrews; Three Daughters- Sue Penny and Husband Glenn of Andrews; Charlotte Ramsay and Husband Jack of Andrews; Belinda Hall and husband Mark of San Marcus; Two Sons- Weston Burnett and wife Debbie of Andrews; Velon Burnett and wife Martha of Cypress,  Texas; Four Brothers- N.C. Burnett of Carlsbad, NM; Clinton Burnett of Odessa; Harrold Burnett of Phoenix, AZ; and Doyle Burnett of Albuquerque, NM; Two Sisters- Zellah Carlton of Carlsbad; and Argelee Young of Huntsville, Alabama; Nine Grandchildren and 12 Great-Grandchildren.

Memorials may be sent to Home Hospice, 803 North Main Street, Andrews,  Texas 79714.

WILL 'W.J.' JONES
November 15, 2005

Will Jimmy "W.J." Jones, 64, of Andrews passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2005 while on a job in Ector County.

Services will be 2:00 PM Friday at Calvary Baptist Church in Andrews. Rev. Benny Anderson of Canyon,  Texas, Mark Wilson and Moody Conner both of Andrews will officiate. Burial will be in Andrews North Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.

W.J. was born July 29, 1941 in Ballinger,  Texas he graduated Valedictorian of his class at Carver School in Ballinger. He served in the US Navy during the  Vietnam War. He moved to Andrews in 1960. He married Wanda Simpson January 14, 1965 in Andrews,  Texas. He was a Contract Pumper currently working with John R. Parish Company. He Loved his grandchildren and was a great family man. He was preceded in death by; His Parents-Charlie lee and Enitchel Collins, and Sister- Alba Faye Williams.

He is Survived by: Wife - Wanda  Jones of Andrews; 4 Daughters - Trena  Jones of Dallas; Charlotte  Jones of Louisville; Paulette Anderson of Canyon and Paula  Jones of Canyon; 3 Brothers- Enitchel Collins of Andrews; Arthur Collins of Odessa and Donny Collins of Midland; 4 Sisters - Mary Foster of Midland; Wyvonne Williams of Andrews; Page Green of Houston; and Bobbie Collins of Hobbs; Three Grandchildren - Will Toliver; Mya Jones; B.J. Anderson.

JOSE JIMENEZ
November 15, 2005

Rosary services for Jose Jimenez, 75, of Andrews will be 7:00 PM Thursday, November 17, 2005 at McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Friday, November 18, 2005 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Andrews with Rev. Bernard Gully, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the Andrews North Cemetery.

He passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2005 at Regency Hospital of Odessa.

He was born December 29, 1929 in Rocksprings to Rafael Lozano Jimenez and Santiaga Jimenez. He married Paula Perez on August 11, 1949 in Sanderson. They moved to Plainview in 1971 and then to Andrews in 1992. He was a self employed sheep shearer. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, where he was a member of Legion of Mary. He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 brother; and 2 sisters.

He is survived by his wife: Paula Jimenez of Andrews; 1 son: Juan Jose Jimenez of Lubbock; 1 daughter: Amelia Lopez of Lubbock; 3 brothers: Juan Jimenez of Round Rock, Rafael Jimenez of Austin, and Julius Jimenez of Katy; 2 sisters: Amelia Losolla and Teresa Zepeda of Austin; 6 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.

ROSEMARY FARMER
November 15, 2005

Funeral services for Rosemary Farmer, 64, of Andrews will be 2:00 PM Thursday, November 17, 2005 at the First Baptist Church in Andrews with Ron Farmer of Lakeview Christian Church in Andrews and Dr. Jeff Donnell, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the Andrews Old Cemetery.

She passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2005 at her residence in Andrews.

She was born on December 13, 1940 in McKinney,  Texas to Columbus Russell Giles, Jr. and Rosalia Williams. She graduated from Corsicana High School in 1958 and married Wayne Farmer on September 10, 1957 in Corsicana. They moved to Andrews in 1959 where she worked as a clerk at Piggly Wigley for 12 years and Albertsons in Odessa and Midland for 14 years. Her husband served for many years as Sheriff for Andrews County and as president for the Sheriff's Association of the State of  Texas in 1998-1999, where she served as the First Lady. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Andrews and the First Baptist Church in Cloudcroft, New Mexico. She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Justin Farmer.

She is survived by her husband: Wayne Farmer of Andrews; 1 daughter: Kay Andrews and husband Matt of Brady; 1 son: Ron Farmer and wife Tina of Andrews; 2 sisters: Diane Quarles of Corsicana and Joan Tindle of Odessa; and 6 grandchildren.

'SIR' JOHN HOGUE
November 12, 2005

Funeral services for "Sir" John Hogue, 77, of Andrews will be 2:00 PM Monday, November 14, 2005 at the First Christian Church in Andrews with Rev. Bob Zap of Andrews, Rev. Don Swindell of Odessa, and Larry Mathis of Brownwood officiating. Burial will follow in the Andrews Old Cemetery.

He passed away on Saturday, November 12, 2005 at his residence in Andrews.

He was born June 26, 1928 in Abilene to John T. Hogue and Annie Estelle  Jones Hogue. He graduated from Sweetwater High School in 1947 and Sul Ross University. He served as a Corporal in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He moved to Andrews in 1959 from Sweetwater. He taught school and retired from the Andrews Schools and then was elected and retired as a County Commissioner for Precinct 2. He was a past member of the  Texas Retired Teacher's Association, Andrews Senior Center Foundation, Andrews Downtown Lions Club, Andrews Chamber of Commerce, Andrews County 4-H, and was instrumental in the building and caretaking of grounds for the Joe J. Stewart Memorial Amphitheater, where he also served on the board. He received commission from Governor Preston Smith to be Admiral in the  Texas Navy and was a member of the  Texas Navy Association. His real passion was teaching his students and seeing them excel in their own lives and serving his community of Andrews. He received Teacher of the Year for the State of  Texas in 1965 and received the Andrews Citizen of the Year in 2001. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Andrews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 sister: Margaret Clough.

He is survived by his wife: Betty Hogue of Andrews; special friends: Trish and Jerry Tharp of Andrews and Butch and Cindy Stroman of Sweetwater; caregiver: Anna Rondan of Andrews; cousins: Patsy and Paul Fritz of Sweetwater and Marge and Bob Duffin of San Antonio; niece: Dorothy Berg of Colorado; and nephew: George Clough, Jr. of Colorado.

Memorials may be sent to the Andrews Senior Center, 310 West Broadway, Andrews,  Texas 79714.

JORDAN LEE 'BUSTER' GUNN
January 30, 2006

Memorial services for Jordan Lee "Buster" Gunn, 80, of Andrews will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 1, 2006 at McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews with Rev. Bob Zap of Andrews and Rev. Lowdenback of Odessa officiating. Burial will be in the Andrews West Cemtery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.

He died Monday, January 30, 3006 at Alliance Hospital in Odessa.

He was born May 11, 1925 in Flomot,  Texas to J. L. Gunn and Irene G. Moffitt Gunn. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during WWII. He moved to Andrews in 1952 and had lived in Odessa from 1970-1974. He worked for Exxon in Andrews for 26 years and retired as a maintenance foreman. He was a past volunteer for the Andrews Food Bank. He married Evelyn Joyce Thoms on April 18, 1970 in Odessa. He attended Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Odessa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 brother; and 1 sister.

He is survived by his wife: Joyce Gunn of Odessa; 3 daughters: Peggy Chew of San Antonio, and Diann Perkins and Della Weaver of Odessa; 1 sister: Jewell Pennington of Lubbock; and 1 grandson: Joseph Weaver of Odessa.

Memorials may be sent to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Foundation.

JOYCE HAMMOND
January 29, 2006

Joyce Ann Hammond, 56, of Andrews passed away Sunday January 29, 2006 at her home in Andrews.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday February 1, 2006 at Andrews North Cemetery. Rev. Alvin Petty, Pastor, of Wesley Methodist Church in Andrews will officiate. Burial will be in Andrews North Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.

Joyce was born October 12, 1949 in McCrory, Arkansas.

She married Don Hammond November 10, 1971 in Odessa, and they lived in Kermit.

Joyce and Don moved to Andrews for the first time in 1974. In 1981 they moved back to Andrews to stay from Cisco,  Texas.

Joyce and Don Owned and Operated the Andrews Bowl-A-Rama, bowling alley for many years.

Joyce loved spending time with her family, and granddaughter.

She is survived by: Her Husband - Don Hammond of Andrews Three Sons - Johnny Woodson of Arkansas, Michael McCabe of Mississippi, and James Hammond of Odessa,  Texas; One Brother - Bobby Watkins of College Station,  Texas; and Two Sisters- Linda Marsh of College Station and Wanda Valasquez of California. and Seven Grandchildren.

PAT L. RUSHING
January 27, 2006

Funeral services for Pat L. Rushing, 78, of Andrews will be 2:00 PM Monday, January 30, 2006 at McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews with Phil J. Marroquin, Pastor of Apostolic Worship Center in Andrews, officiating. Burial will follow in the Andrews West Cemetery.

He passed away on Friday, January 27, 2006 at Alliance Hospital in Odessa.

He was born August 14, 1927 in Wewoka,  Oklahoma to Robert E. Rushing and Sudie Sanders Rushing. He studied engineering at the University of  Texas in Austin. He married Jean Rushing on June 15, 1951 in Raymondville,  Texas. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He moved to Andrews in 1951 from Monahans. He worked for Exxon from 1952-1985. He was a past member of the National Rifle Association and was a member of the Exxon Annuitant Club in Andrews. He was a full faith Christian. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers.

He is survived by his wife: Jean Rushing of Andrews; 2 sons: Rick Rushing of Andrews and Mark Rushing of Pecos; 5 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.

MARGARET FAYE MORGAN
January 27, 2006

Funeral services for Margaret Faye Morgan, 85, of Andrews will be 2:00 PM Sunday, January 29, 2006 at the Andrews Presbyterian Church with Rev. Bob Zap officiating. Burial will follow in the Andrews Old Cemetery.

She passed away on Friday, January 27, 2006 at Heart of  Texas Memorial Hospital in Brady.

She was born on October 26, 1920 in Big Spring to Lafayette Franklin Keisling and Margaret Ferrier Keisling. She graduated from Big Spring High School in 1936. She married Lloyd Winfield Morgan on March 25, 1944 in Fort Worth, and they moved to Andrews in 1946 and began ranching. She was instrumental in establishing the Andrews Study Club, where they established a library. She remained active in library activities including the Friends of the Library and helped to build the new Andrews County Library. She enjoyed the Garden Club, Literary Club, and playing bridge with the same club for the past 50 years. She was a founding member of the Andrews Presbyterian Church in 1954; where she was an Elder and taught Sunday School. She was preceded in death by her parents; 1 brother; and her husband on September 5, 1980.

She is survived by her 3 daughters: Marsha McBee of Dallas, Susan Horton of Brady, and Nancy Morgan of Austin; 1 son: Mark Morgan of Big Spring; and 10 grandchildren.

GUADALUPE EMILIANO
January 22, 2006

Guadalupe Emiliano, 86, of Andrews passed away Sunday January 22, 2006 at her home in Andrews.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday January 24, 2006 at Filadelfia Assembly of God Church in Andrews. Mrs. Emiliano's son, Rev. Samuel Emiliano, pastor of Filadelfia Assembly of God will officiate. Burial will be in Andrews North Cemetery. Mrs. Emiliano will be in state for visitation at Filadelfia Assembly of God beginning 10:00 AM Monday.

Mrs. Emiliano was born April 26, 1919 in Brownsboro,  Texas. She married Agapito Emiliano August 24, 1935 in Dallas. She was a member of the Filadelfia Assembly of God Church, and she was a Homemaker. She loved to cook and she made the best Crazy Bread and Coconut Pie in the world. She was preceded in death by her husband Agapito Emiliano February 11, 2004.

She is survived by: 4 Sons - Samuel Emiliano, and Jacob Emiliano both of Andrews; Pedro Emiliano of Odessa and Elias Emiliano of Andrews; 4 Daughters - Anita Travino, Petra Contreras, Teresa Alvarez, and Noemi Sanchez all of Andrews, 25 Grandchildren; 26 Great-Grandchildren and 4 Great-Great- Grandchildren.

PEARLIE McGILL
January 20, 2006

Services for Pearlie McGill, 94 of Andrews, will be 2:00 PM Monday, January 23, 2006 at Means Memorial United Methodist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Rick Doyle, pastor of Means Memorial United Methodist Church and Rev. Earl Blair, Canyon,  Texas. Burial will follow in the Andrews West Cemetery.

Pearlie died Friday, January 20, 2006 at Permian Regional Medical Center in Andrews. She was born on November 24, 1911 in Erath County,  Texas. She graduated from Lamesa High School in 1931. She received her teaching certificate from McMurry in 1949, she graduated from North  Texas in 1954. She taught school in Dawson County and in Andrews for a total of 23 years.

Pearlie married Vernon Wilson Bryant, Sr. in Lamesa in May 1938. Vernon preceded her in death on April 25, 1943. She married Guy McGill in Andrews in 1963. Pearlie was a member of the Means Memorial United Methodist Church.

Survivors include; sons John Bryant, San Francisco, California, Vernon Wilson Bryant, Jr. and wife Nancy of Ft. Worth,  Texas, brother, John Shillingburg and wife Nancy, Alexandria, Virginia, sister, Oleta Adkins, Midland,  Texas, grandchildren, Vernon Wilson Bryant, III and wife Chelsey, Austin,  Texas, Theron L. Bryant, and wife Leslie, Ft. Worth,  Texas, great grandchildren, Vernon Wilson Bryant IV, Austin,  Texas, Chandler Annette Bryant , Austin,  Texas, Bridget Faith Bryant, Austin,  Texas and Ava Bremond Bryant, Ft. Worth,  Texas. Preceding Pearlie in death was brothers Doyle Shillingburg on April 18, 1986, Laurence Shillingburg on October 24, 1997, sisters Marie Buchanan on March 5, 1981 and Olena Bingham on November 19, 1981.
