Funeral services for Mary B. Washington, 64, of Old Ocean, Texas, will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 22, 2004, at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Cedar Lane, Texas, with the Elder Fred Jones officiating.
Burial will be at St. Paul Baptist Church of Brazoria, Texas.
She died Friday, January 16, 2004, at Sweeny Community Hospital in Sweeny, Texas.
She is survived by three sons, Freddie Bonner of Sweeny, Donald Washington (Jennifer) of Texas City, Darryl Washington of La Marque; two daughters, Debra James (Phil) of Texas City, Emma Hill of Galveston; five brothers, Anthony Bonner of Clute, Texas, Terry Ellis of Angleton, Alfred Ellis of Sweeny, A.B. Roberson (Rita) of Arlington and Scott Ellis of Houston; five sisters, Sarah Jones (the Rev. Fred) of Sweeny, Delores Ann Helms (Shedrick) of Sweeny, Cynthia Baugh of Brazoria, Louise Tennard of Houston, Betty Ellis of Houston; six grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was a member of Mt. Zion Church of God in Christ in Marcum, Texas.
Active pallbearers will be the O.H. Herman High School Class of 1959.
Honorary pallbearers will be Freddie Bonner, Jason Bonner, Brandon Wash, Jairus Bonner, Freddie Bonner Jr., Shedrick Helms, Elder Fred Jones and Terrance Anderson.
Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 21, 2004, at Dixon Funeral Home Chapel in Brazoria, Texas.

BURDETTE L. DODGE
Funeral services for Burdette L. Dodge, 78, of Danbury, Texas, are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 22, 2004, at Palms Funeral Home.
Burial will follow in the Angleton Cemetery with military honors.
Friends may visit with the family from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 21, 2004, at the funeral home.
Burdette was born to George and Marie Dodge on July 9, 1925, and died on Sunday, January 18, 2004, at his home. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and retired from Dow after many years of service.
His parents and three brothers precede him in death.
Surviving are his wife, Norma Dodge; children, Burdette Dodge Jr. of Danbury, Geraldine Moore of Spring, Steven Rogers and wife, Rosie, of Fresno, Bruce Rogers and wife, Pat, of Angleton, Allen Rogers and wife, Mitzy, of Lake Jackson; nine grandchildren, Amanda, Brandon, Elizabeth, Karen, Sharon, Jessica, Anthony, Jennifer and Kendalyn; five great-grandchildren, Mike, Gabriel, Jared, Ashlee and Hunter.

ANA "FIRA" DAMIAN MARTINEZ
Ana “Fira” Damian Martinez, 67, of Clute, passed away Saturday, January 17, 2004, at Hermann Hospital in Houston, Texas. Mrs. Martinez was born July 18, 1936, in La Calera, Guanajuato, Mexico, to Ernesto and Silviana Damian.
She is survived by six children: Mary Ann Frederick and husband, Eddie, of Dallas; Janie Martinez of Clute; Nora Jones and husband, Dwain, of Lake Jackson; Guadalupe Martinez and wife, Lupita, of Freeport; Nancy Silvia Hubacek and husband, Bill, of Dallas and Ernesto Martinez of Clute. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; one sister, Juana Damian Lara of Freeport; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Mrs. Martinez was preceded in death by her loving husband, Alehandro “Chato” Martinez; son, Jose Angel Martinez; and grandson, Joseph Edward Frederick.
A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 20, 2004, at St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Freeport with Father Sanchez officiating. The family received friends from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday, January 19, 2004, at Lakewood Funeral Chapel, where a rosary was recited at 7 p.m.

GAIL ALEXANDER
Funeral services for Gail Alexander, 53, of Angleton, Texas, are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 21, 2004, in Palms Funeral Home Chapel.
Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 20, 2004.
Gail was born in Houston, Texas, on August 27, 1950, and had lived in Angleton since 1979. She loved the beach and jet skiing. Gail enjoyed her grandchildren and her son’s “red car”.
Survivors include her husband, Wayne Alexander; sons, Scott Alexander of Houston, Kelly Thomson and wife, Tracey, of Angleton; sisters, Linda Fishbeck of Sargeant, Nancy Salinskie of Glen Flora, Janet Ellis of Houston; two grandchildren and one on the way; and numerous other relatives.

MILDRED LEE HITCHCOCK
Mildred Lee Hitchcock passed away.
Mildred was born in 1910 and raised in Houston, Texas, by her parents, Dr. Thomas Hill and Rowena Tomek Hill, in the Houston Heights. She attended the University of Texas and worked as a young woman in Houston, where she met her future husband, Otis Kendall Hitchcock. Mildred and Otis and their two children moved to Sweeny in 1948, where they purchased the Garrison Telephone Company, which operated for many years as the Sweeny-Old Ocean Telephone Company.
Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Otis, in 1985.
She is survived by her son, Tom Hitchcock and wife, Janice; grandson, Warren; her daughter, Judith Ann Fisher and her husband, William; granddaughter, Melissa Kay Miller.
The Rev. Jim Morgan will conduct graveside services at Forest Park Lawndale in Houston at noon on Saturday January 24, 2004, where Mildred will be laid to rest alongside Otis.

Mildred Lee Hitchcock passed away.

BERTHA MARIE PETRY HARNESS
Bertha Marie Petry Harness passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2004, in Houston, Texas, at the Home Sweet Home nursing facility.
Bertha was born on March 3, 1920, in Hockley, Texas. She and her husband, Jasper, moved to the Brazosport area soon after they married in 1943.
Bertha was a loving wife and mother. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. Many wonderful memories were made in her kitchen as the aroma from her delicious pies and cookies filled the air.
She was preceded in death in the year 2000 by her husband of 57 years, Jasper Harness; her sister, Elnora Petry O’Daniel; her brother, Albert Petry; and her parents, Alfred and Mary Catherine Petry.
Bertha is survived by her sister, Rosalee Spencer and husband, George; brother, Franklin Petry; children, Allen Harness, Marilyn Ponder and husband, Kenneth, Carol Adamcik and husband, Neal, Jerry Harness and wife, Rayna; grandchildren, Clint Ponder and wife, Margarita, Roy, Ted and Lisa Ponder, Brett Adamcik, Michelle and Erica Harness.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, January 23, 2004, at Lakewood Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 24, 2004, at Wesley First United Methodist Church in Clute, where Bertha was a long-time member.

She was born Wednesday, February 23, 1938, in Sentinel, Oklahoma, and died Tuesday, January 20, 2004, in Sugar Land, Texas.
She enjoyed camping, sewing and reading. She was a member of the Sweeny Church of Christ, where she was secretary for 18 years, and she was an active member of Brazos Bend Good Sam Club.
Survivors include her husband of 46 years, Mel Landreneau, of Brazoria; son and daughter-in-law, Fred and Janine Landreneau of Sweeny; daughter and son-in-law, Jodina and Kelly Mullins of Sweeny; parents, Oral and Marie Farris of Lake Jackson; sisters and brothers-in-law, Wanda and Weldon Johnston of Sweeny, Oralene and Ralph Naquin of Lake Jackson and Joanne and Darrell Wight of Pasadena; grandchildren, Toni Kirkgard and husband, Brandon, Brandon Landreneau, Craig Landreneau, Ashley Campbell, Cody and Evan Mullins and Jarrett Landreneau.
