TOM A. MCALLISTER JR.

Tom served in the U.S. Navy in 1972-73 in Vietnam.

Jesus and the angels received our Tom on November 30, 2003, after complications from diabetes, a condition he lived with for nearly 30 years. Tom was not only my husband but my best friend and a father to our two wonderful, precious sons, Dan Wathen, 29, and Justin McAllister, 26. His presence with us will be deeply missed by all his family, but we comfort ourselves knowing we will all be together someday in Heaven with our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ for eternity.

Tom was a draftsman and a good one for several engineering firms over the past 28 years. He was last employed with Arcadis Engineers (formerly known as WSBC) in Houston, TX.

Tom loved building and flying model airplanes and within the past few years was able to fulfill a desire to skydive. Although it wasn’t a desire of mine, it quickly became our passion together while we could.

Tom was an extremely artistic man with much talent. Tom loved building things and had recently completed his favorite relaxing spot, our backyard patio where we spent many hours over the past year. I will miss those times together.

Tom loved his sons, Dan and Justin, so much and always knew they would walk in the plan God had for their lives. Tom loved all his family, his mom and dad’s unconditional love and commitment to their sons, his brother Mike, whose wife introduced me to Tom, and John, his youngest brother whom he was so proud of and his mother and father-in-law, Bob and Nell Odom.

Tom is survived by his wife of 28 years, Becky McAllister, parents Thomas Arthur McAllister Sr. and wife, Edna; children Daniel Wathen and Justin Thomas McAllister; brother, John McAllister; niece, Tori McAllister; uncle Joe McAllister, and wife, Starr. He was preceded in death by brother, Mike McAllister, and grandmother, Molly McAllister.

I would like to especially thank Tom’s dialysis nurse, Jeanne Nishioka of Methodist Outpatient Dialysis Unit in Houston for being not only a nurse to Tom but a friend he so enjoyed talking with. I also want to thank everyone involved for your prayers and support during this difficult past two months. Tom, Dan, Justin and I felt them. Goodbye for now, my sweetie and dad to our boys, we love you and will miss you so much.
