CARROLL DICKIE EVANS
Funeral services for Carroll Dickie Evans, 48, of Cedar Lane will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 28, 2003, at First Berean Missionary Baptist Church in Cedar Lane, Texas, with the Reverend Murray Griggs officiating.
Burial will follow at Houston National Cemetery in Houston, Texas.
She died Sunday, November 23, 2003, at her residence. She attended Klein High School and graduated in 1973. She graduated from Sam Houston University in 1976. She also attended Mary-Hardin Baylor University in Waco, Texas. Mrs. Evans was employed with the Sweeny Independent School District as a school teacher. She was a a member of the First Berean Missionary Baptist Church where she served as church secretary, member of the choir and historian. She was a member of the Sisters of the Heart Group.
She is survived by her husband, Ronald Evans of Cedar Lane; two sons, Brandan Evans of Cedar Lane, and Jeremiah Evans, U.S. Navy, Washington state; mother, Elizabeth Dickie of Houston; four brothers, Kenneth Dickie, Anthony Dickie, Wesley Dickie (Latrell) all of Houston, and Marcus Dickie (Demetrial) of Huntsville; two sisters, Betty Skelton (Joe) and Geraldine Simmons (Duke), both of Houston; and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
Active pallbearers will be Jeremiah Evans, Brandan Evans, Marcus Dickie, Wesley Dickie, Wayne Dickie and Kenneth Dickie.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Sisters of the Heart group and deacons of First Berean Missionary Baptist Church.
Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at First Berean Missionary Baptist Church in Cedar Lane, Texas. There will be no viewing afterward.

EDDIE LOUIS PRIHODA SR.
Eddie Louis Prihoda Sr., 78, died Saturday, November 22, 2003, at the Angleton Danbury Medical Center.
A longtime resident of Danbury and a Dow retiree, he is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Henrietta; sons, John Prihoda of Clear Lake, Eddie Prihoda Jr. of Angleton, Alton Prihoda of Baytown; his daughters, Julie White of Texas City, Nonie Mendias Auwaerter of Angleton, Helen Tippen of New Waverly, Ethlyn James of Katy, Louise Prihoda of Katy, Janie Walthall of Angleton, Lorine Golden of Morgan Hill, California, and Margie Terrell of Navasota; and by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Frank Prihoda of Rosenberg, twin sister, Ellie Havlik of Angleton, and sisters, Lillian Miculek of West Columbia, Marie Svoboda of Damon, and Bettie Rab of Angleton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vinc and Amalie Prihoda, and by five brothers and one sister.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 25, 2003, at Palms Funeral Home in Angleton, Texas, with a Rosary to begin at 7:00 p.m.
The funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 26, 2003, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Danbury, Texas.
Pallbearers will be his sons-in-law, John Auwaeter, Dan Tippen, Roy James, Chris Walthall, Glenn Golden and Bill Terrell.
Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons.

CECILIANA CALBO NAVASARD
Ceciliana Calbo Navasard, 88, formerly of Lake Jackson, Texas, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2003, at home in Glendale, California.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gus Navasard, and son, Rudyard Navasard.
She is survived by her daughter, Heartly Loeff, and son, Errol Navasard, both of Glendale, California; son, Gipsy Navasard & wife, Nancy, of Lake Jackson, Texas; grandchildren, Adrian and Liz Loeff, Astrid and Paul O’Laughlin, Jason and Kathy Navasard, Jill and Albert Haro, Paul and Kelsey Navasard; great-grandchildren, Stephen, Lauren and Sophia O’Laughlin, Joshua and Brooklyn Navasard, Michael and Layla Haro.
A private burial will take place in San Jose, California.

Funeral services for Leonard Bucy of Angleton, Texas, are scheduled for 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 25, 2003, at Palms Funeral Home Chapel with military honors.
Visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 25, 2003, until service time.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the American Legion Post 241 and the Brazoria County Marine Corp League Department.
Leonard was born to Lurtie & May Harris Bucy on July 31, 1942, in Chickasha, Oklahoma. He served his country in the Marine Corps and the Air Force. Leonard was a resident of Angleton since 1990. He was an officer and also on the board of directors of American Legion Post 241. He was a member of the Marine Corps League Detachment and of the USAF Class 50-E.
Leonard died on Saturday, November 22, in a Houston hospital. His parents and brothers, Rayburn and Ralph Bucy, preceded him in death.
Surviving are his wife, Alys; daughters, Candy, Sherry, Carol & husband, Roger; stepdaughters, Marchelle, Toni & husband, Joe, Alyson & husband, Neil; and numerous grandchildren.

Funeral services for Minister Greg Payne, 33, of Brazoria, Texas, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 29, 2003, at Great St. Paul Church in Brazoria, Texas, with the Reverend K.B. McDonald officiating.
Burial will be in Peaceful Rest Cemetery in Brazoria.
Greg was a former member of Greater St. Paul Baptist Church where he had served as President of the Brotherhood, Shepherd Boys and Male Chorus. Greg was presently a member of Mt. Progressive Baptist Church in St. Paul, Minnesota. He acknowledged his calling to the ministry on May 13, 2002, at Greater St. Paul Baptist Church and preached his first sermon on October 13, 2002.
Greg graduated from Columbia High School in West Columbia, Texas, in 1988. After graduation, he attended Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas. In 1992 he received his Bachelor of Science degree in agricultural economics and Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in human resource management. In 1997, he received his Master of Science degree in agricultural economics from Prairie View A&M University in Prairie View, Texas. Greg was working on his doctoral degree in human resource development at the University of Illinois at Urban-Champaign.
His honors include: Outstanding Internship Award-PVAMU, Outstanding College Student of America 1988, Honor Roll 1988-1992, TSU, Service Award, 1988-92, Alpha Zeta, 1988-92, National Student Government Award, 1990-92, Texas Business Hall of Fame Scholarship Recipient, 1992, All American Collegiate Scholar award, 1994, Delta Mu Delta National Business Honor Society, 1994, Pi Lambda Theta International honor society, 1994, Cash Merit Award- United States Department of Agriculture, 1995, 1999 & 2000, State and Regional Alumni Brother of the Year Award, Alpha Phi Alpha, 1997, Who’s Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities, 1993, Honor Society of Agriculture, Gamma Sigma Delta, 1997, second place national MANRRS Graduate Oral Presentation Contest, 1999, and third place national MANRRS Graduate Oral Presentation Contest, 2000.
His leaves to mourn his passing his mother, Alta Woodard of Brazoria; brother, Terry Payne (Idalia) of Mathis; sister, Pamela Mock (Darryl) of Angleton; two nieces, VaNeasha Woodard, Skylar Mock; one godchild, Marisa Washington of Fort Worth; great-aunt, Ella Diggs of East Columbia; two uncles, Herman Payne and Johnny Payne of Brazoria; four aunts, Rosie Riggins, Gertrude Austin, Patricia Payne, Theresia Green all of Brazoria, and a host of cousins and friends.
Active pallbearers will be Claude Tims, Steve Caldwell, Tyrone Morgan, Ricky Thompson, Reggie Riggins and Wayne Williams.

Jessie Maurine Feagin, age 86, was buried in Holly Springs Cemetery at Martin Mills, Texas, on Saturday, November 22, 2003. She was survived by a daughter, Katie Diane Wooderson of Glen Rose, Texas; son, Lonnie Earl Feagin Sr. of Surfside Beach; and several grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Arvel Feagin; son, Bobby Jack Feagin and daughter, Tonie Gutherie.
INEZ YVONNE SLAUGHTER BRAND
Inez Yvonne Slaughter Brand, 69, of Houston, Texas, passed away on Monday, November 24, 2003, at Memorial Herman Hospital.
Inez was born May 6, 1934, in Damon, Texas to Charlie C. Slaughter and Foy Bittick Slaughter. Mrs Brand attended Velasco Elementary, Brazosport High School and Southwest Texas University.
She is survived by her husband, Max E. Brand Jr.; two sons, Randel Preston Slade, and Kenneth Neil Schlanker; one stepson, the Reverend Max E. Brand III; three step daughters, Elizabeth Brand Rothrock, Anna Brand Kingman and Sheri Brand Simmons; one sister, Dorothy Slaughter Murphy; one brother-in law, Col. Rod Brand; four grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter, along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Foy Slaughter; brother, Charles R. Slaughter; daughter, Kyra Trammel; son, Skyler Trammel, and nephew, David Slaughter.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 29, 2003, at Lakewood Funeral Chapel with the Reverend Max E. Brand III of Calvary Baptist Church officiating.
Burial will follow at Restwood Cemetery.

LOYD HATHAWAY
Services for Loyd Hathaway, 78, of Palestine, will be at 1 p.m. Friday, November 28, 2003, at Bailey & Foster Chapel, in Palestine, Texas.
Burial will follow in Roselawn Park.
Mr. Hathaway died Tuesday at Palestine Regional Medical Center. He was born December 23, 1924, in Eagle City, Oklahoma, to James Henry Hathaway & Maggie Adell Garriot Hathaway. Mr. Hathaway was retired from Dow Chemical Company. He was a deacon and treasurer of the Second Baptist Church in Lake Jackson, and a member of the Lake Jackson Masonic Lodge. Mr. Hathaway was an active member with Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. Mr. Hathaway served in the U.S. Army and joined the Army Reserve. Loyd had lived in Palestine since March 1987. He was the kind of person that if you met him you loved him. A wonderful Christian man who lived his beliefs and who loved all people.
Mr. Hathaway was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Jean Hathaway; a daughter, Carol Jean; sister, Emma Jackson; two brothers, Herbert Hathaway and Raymond Hathaway.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Lasiter Hathaway, of Palestine; daughter, Linda Andrews & husband, Duanne, of Palestine; sons, Billy Ray Strickland & wife, Joyce, of Freeport, Bob Stout & wife, Linda, of Nacogdoches, Bill Lasiter & wife, Sherry, of Palestine, Curtis Stout & wife, Brenda, of Whitehouse; brothers, Floyd Hathaway & wife, Mickie, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Elmer Hathaway & wife, Doris, of California; 14 grandchildren and 14 great- grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Lindy Nichols, Russell Wilkes, Billy Ray Strickland, Michael Strickland, Robert Adams, Justin Stout, Lee Lasiter, Steve Frennier and Ricky Naismith.
