NORMA BROWN DAVILA
Norma Brown Davila, 63, loving wife and mother, passed away on January 24, 2003, in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Norma was born in Glasgow, Scotland during World War II. She spent her youth in Belfast, Northern Ireland and was the beloved daughter of Andrew and Jean Brown.
She immigrated to the United States at age 21 where she met her husband Anthony Davila in Philadelphia. Norma lived in Judibana, Venezuela; Lake Jackson; and Makakilo, Hawaii. For many years she had an abundance of energy which she used in a very creative and sharing way. She was a talented seamstress and knitter, and contributed to youth education programs. On October 6, 2001, she was the recipient of a liver transplant, she died of rejection complications.
Norma is survived by her husband, Tony Davila of New Orleans, Louisiana, and three daughters; Natalie of Chicago, Illinois, Kelly of Houston, and Nicolle (Nikki) of Makakilo, Hawaii; uncle, Jackie Shanks of Belfast, Northern Ireland, uncle, Victor Alexander of Bangor, Northern Ireland; cousins, Robert and Myrtle Ogle in Bangor, Northern Ireland; nephew, Mark Ogle and wife, Karen, Jonathan Ogle.
A memorial service will be held at St. Vincent’s Catholic Church, 6900 Buffalo Speedway, in Houston, on Saturday, February 1, 2003 at 3:00 p.m. Her ashes will be scattered near Newcastle, Northern Ireland, where the Mountains of Mourne reach down to the sea.

GILBERT LARA HERNANDEZ
Gilbert Lara Hernandez, 48, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 28, 2003. He passed away at his home in Brazoria, Texas surrounded by family and friends. Gilbert was born on February 4, 1954 in Freeport, Texas to Julio and Altagracia Hernandez. Gilbert married his sweetheart, Leticia Martinez Hernandez on September 3, 1971 and they shared 31 wonderful years together. They had two sons, Gilbert Ray Hernandez and Mitchell Aaron Hernandez.
Funeral mass is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 31, 2003 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Brazoria, with the Rev. Tin Pham officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Lakewood Funeral Chapel and with Deacon Raul Castillo reciting a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
Gilbert was a life long resident of Brazoria County and was a pipefitter for Local 390 for 18 years.
Gilbert was preceded in death by his loving parents, Julio and Altagracia, and his brothers, Juan Lara Hernandez, Sr. and Jose Lara Hernandez, Sr.
He is survived by his wife, Leticia of Brazoria; two sons, Gilbert Ray Hernandez and wife Linda of Freeport, Mitchell Aaron Hernandez of Brazoria; two grandchildren, Kayla Nicole Hernandez and Gilbert Ray Hernandez, Jr.; his loving mother-in-law, Irma Watts of Brazoria; brothers, Julio Lara Hernandez and wife, Hortencia of Freeport, Thomas Lara Hernandez, Sr., and wife, Teresa of Freeport, Noe Lara Hernandez, Sr. and wife, Alta of Clute; sisters, Celia Chacon and husband, Clem of Clute, Corina Stinson and husband, Ralph Debose of Angleton, Sandra Spears and husband, Thomas of Lake Jackson, Irene Coronado of Brazoria, and Esther Acosta of Old Ocean; sisters-in-law, Bertha Hernandez of Lake Jackson and Mary Hernandez of Clear Lake; numerous nieces and nephews, as well as his faithful pet, Brew Hernandez.
Pallbearers will be Tim LaFitte, Ted Aguirre, Jerry Sirmans, Mike Hernandez, Leonard Malecha and Louis Coronado.
Honorary Pallbearers will be his nieces and nephews.

ROBERT DENNIS HUGHES
Robert Dennis Hughes, 59 of Jones Creek passed away Tuesday, January 28, 2003 at his residence.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday, January 30, 2003 at 6:00 p.m. at Stroud Funeral Home in Clute with Bro. Alan Anglin, officiating.
A memorial wake will take place at Patti’s Place in Jones Creek on Hwy. 36 after the service.
Robert, formerly of Elyria, Ohio, was an area resident for 21 years. He was the former owner of Sand Bar and Grill in Quintana.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Hughes; and sister, Patricia Stokes.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Hughes of Jones Creek; mother, Zella Hughes of Elyria, Ohio; daughters, Chelsea Hughes and Courtney Hughes, both of Freeport; stepdaughter, Sheila Carter and husband, Monty of Freeport; son, Robert D. Hughes, Jr. and wife, Stephanie of Lebanon, Ohio; stepson, Cary Miller and wife, Julie of Oyster Creek; sister, Margaret McCown and husband, Ray of Oberlin, Ohio; brothers, George Hughes and wife, Pat of Nacogdoches and Richard Hughes of Elyria, Ohio; four grandchildren; and many other loving relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Archie Woodard, 82, of Brazoria will be Saturday, February 1, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethlehem Christian Church in Cedar Lake with the Rev. Kenneth Bree, Sr. officiating.
Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery in Cedar Lake.
He died January 24, 2003 at Park Plaza Hospital in Houston, Texas.
He was a member of Brazoria Masonic Lodge #104, Trustee at Bethlehem Christian Church, and a member of Union Local #80 and a Funeral Parking Attendant at Dixon Funeral Home.
He is survived by his wife, Minnie Ola Woodard, of Brazoria; three sons, Nathaniel Woodard (Marie), of Austin, Raleigh Woodard (Estella), of Pearland, Jimmie Woodard of Houston; three brothers, Albert Woodard, Raleigh S. Woodard (Helen), all of Houston; Horace Woodard (Girtha), of Cedar Lake; one sister, Eunice Helms (Aaron), of Brazoria; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and many friends.

STEPHEN RAY CARROLL
Stephen Ray Carroll, 45, of Clute, Texas passed away Monday, January 27, 2003 at his residence.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 31, 2003 at Central Assembly of God Church in Angleton, with Pastor Larry Lanphier officiating.
Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Lakewood Funeral Chapel in Lake Jackson.
Ray is survived by sons, David Carroll of Angleton and Cameron Carroll of Clute; by mother, Isabel Carroll of Clute; sister, Joy Jenkins and husband, Fred of Clute; brother, Kevin Carroll and wife, Janet; brother, Randy Carroll and wife, Beverly; brother, Tim Carroll and wife, Stacy all of Angleton.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jesse Carroll; grandparents, Jesse and Lillie Carroll and William and Mary Davis; and by sister, Donna Whitehead.
He was a beloved father, son and brother. Ray was a brother to many. He was artistic, expressive, passionate, personable and loving. He was the first-born son to his father and a loving father to his two sons. He was a multifaceted individual with great depth and many talents. He was a skilled fisherman, kite flier, mechanic, pipefitter, electrician and so many other activities and trades. He was innovative, creative and constantly crafting designs and turning his concepts into creations. Ray’s talents and passions had much more to offer the world than will ever be realized. His body rests now as his spirit is reunited with his father and sister in the presence of our Heavenly Father. His family and friends will miss him and we cherish the time we had with him.

Ben Lynch, 67, of Freeport, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 29, 2003, at Woodlake Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at Stroud Funeral Home with Major Ronald Draper officiating.
Visitation will be on Friday, January 31, 2003 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Stroud Funeral Home.
Interment will be at Restwood Memorial Park.
Mr. Lynch was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. and was very active in the Salvation Army.
He is survived by his wife, Doris; children, Kathy Majeors and husband, Ronald, and Linda Allen and husband, Dwight; grandchildren, Terrie Morton and husband, Scott and children, Chris Allen and wife Shelley, Trisha Manck and children, Stephen Mageors and wife, Stacie and children, Tom Mageors and wife, Jodi and children; one brother and sister of South Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his father; mother; two sisters and two brothers.

EUNA B. WARREN
Funeral services for Euna B. Warren, 74, of Angleton will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, January 31, 2003 at Second Baptist Church in Angleton with the Rev. Steve Scott officiating.
Burial will take place in Oklahoma.
Visitation will be held at the church from 3:00 p.m. until service time.
Euna was born in Stigler, Oklahoma on October 25, 1928 to Clarence & Hyla Holden Brown. She moved from Midwest City, Oklahoma to Angleton two years ago. She was an active square dancer and past president of Oklahoma Square Dancing Association. Mrs. Warren passed away on Thursday in Angleton.
She is survived by three sons, Bruce Hayes of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Mike Hayes of Lake Jackson and Phillip Hayes of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; sister, Betty Comstock of Midwest City, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
