Funeral services for Frances Emily Davis, 71, of West Columbia, Texas, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 27, 2003, at Israel Chapel A.M.E. Church, 214 West Jackson Street, West Columbia, Texas, with Reverend Americus Hawkins, Jr., officiating.
Burial will follow at Houston Memorial Gardens, 16000 Cullen Blvd., Pearland, Texas.
She was born June 6, 1931 and passed away Thursday, March 27, 2003, at Triumph Hospital in Southwest Houston.

She was a member of Israel Chapel A.M.E. Church where she served faithfully as church secretary, Trustee of Steward and Stewardess Board, and was a Choir and Sunday School member.
Survivors include her husband, Willie Lee Davis of West Columbia; two sons, Charles (MaryLou) Davis of Houston and Kevin (Sheila) Davis of West Columbia; one daughter, Sandra (Jack) Johnson of Houston; one daughter-in-law, Marla Davis of Houston; three brothers, twin brother, Frank (Harolyn) Gibson of San Antonio, Elijah Gibson of Houston and Thurman (Ida) Gibson of Hempstead; two sisters, Willie Mae Woods of Houston and Susie Beverly of Brazoria; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Joseph Davis, Rodney Johnson, Brian Davis, Craig Lightner, Clayton Davis and Dorian Davis.

Ruth L. Watson, 50, of South Water Street, Kent, Ohio, died Monday, March 24, 2003, at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna.
She was born January 25, 1953 in Galveston, Texas. She worked in the bakery department at Sam’ Wholesale Club.
Survivors include her daughters, Amanda (Robbie) Mitchell of Danbury, Jessica (Bob) Runnels of Kent, Erica (John) Runnels of Blasedell, New York and Lindy Rasberry of Conroe; nine grandchildren; mother, Mildred Davis of Danbury; brothers, Wayne Davis of Houston and Jesse B. Robin of Beaumont; sisters, Sharon Gore of Danbury and Shelly Davidson of Anchorage, Alaska.
She was preceded in death by her father, Tommy Davis; brother, Jimmy Don Batten; sister, Kimberly Robin; and her birth mother, Sylvia Leiker.
There will be no calling hours. Funeral services will be held in Texas at a later date.

Steven Glynn McDaniel
Steven Glynn McDaniel, beloved husband, father, brother, and loyal friend was received into Heaven, Saturday, March 22, 2003, at his home.
Steven was born on March 29, 1956, in Aransas Pass, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 26, 2003, at Palms Funeral Home, with Rev. Carroll Grigsby officiating.
Burial will follow in Angleton Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family during visitation from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 25, 2003, at Palms Funeral Home in Angleton, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Rosie Boone; and his natural father, John Henry McDaniel. He was employed at Oyster Creek, Plant 2, after a career of over 18 years, with The Dow Chemical Company.
Survivors include his loving wife of 22 years, Cindy Cay McDaniel and two devoted children, a daughter, Crystal Cay and a son, Travis Glynn, all of Angleton; three brothers, Danny Boone & wife Sheila of Dayton, Billy McDaniel of Rockport and Ernest Jordan of McAllen; and two sisters, Deborah Powers of Cuero and Tracey Jordan of Cuero. A host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends are left to mourn his passing.
Steven was a man of integrity, who loved and protected his family with pride. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Pallbearers will be Marshall Gravatt, Harold Myers, Steve Aaron, Allen Hall, Don Connealy and Greg Rawlinson.

EARLE B. BARNES
Earle Burdette Barnes, 85, former resident of Freeport and resident of Jackson, Wyoming since 1982, passed away Thursday, March 20, 2003 at St. John’s Hospital in Jackson.
Earle was a lifelong Christian and student of the Bible. He was a devoted husband during 62 years of marriage, a loving father and a generous supporter of many charities. He had served as an elder at the First Presbyterian Church in Freeport. He and his wife owned the Dead Shot Ranch near Bondurant, Wyoming where they raised Arabian horses.
He was born in Pueblo, Colorado July 14, 1917 to Henry Samuel and Della Blanch (Whitney) Barnes. He graduated from high school in Fort Worth, Texas; from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth with a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, in 1938; and from the University of Nebraska with a master’s degree in Chemistry, in 1940. He was awarded an honorary Doctor of Science degree by Texas Christian University in 1962 and an honorary Doctor of Human Letters degree by Central Michigan University in 1976.
Earle joined The Dow Chemical Company in 1940, entering a training program in Midland, Michigan. He spent the next 26 years with Dow at the Texas Division in Freeport, Texas. He progressed from Laboratory Director in 1943 to Director of Organic Research in 1953 to Texas Division General Manager in 1961. In 1967, he was transferred to Dow’s corporate headquarters in Midland, Michigan where he was named Director of Corporate Manufacturing. In 1968, he was named General Manager of the US Area and a Vice President of the company. In 1971, he became President of Dow Chemical USA and he was elected to the Executive Committee. He became an Executive Vice President of the company in 1975. He served on Dow’s Board of Directors from 1966 until 1982 and was Chairman of the Board of Dow from February 1979 until he retired at age 65, in July 1982.
Earle is survived by his wife, Lucile (Seamster) Barnes, they married July 3, 1941; four sons: Ronald Barnes and wife Toni of Houston, TX, Larry Barnes and wife Cynthia of San Diego, CA, David Barnes and wife Patricia of Georgetown, TX, and Thomas Barnes and wife Susan, of Little Silver, NJ; and eight grandchildren.
Burial will be at the Aspen Hill Cemetery in Jackson. There will be visitation from 1 to 2 pm on Saturday, March 29 at Valley Mortuary in Jackson followed by a graveside service at 2:30 pm. A memorial service will then be held at 4 pm at the Community Bible Church in Jackson followed by a dinner at 6 pm at the church. Pastor Don Landis will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Community Bible Church, 1450 South Park Loop Rd., Jackson, WY 83001; St. John’s Hospital, P.O. Box 428, Jackson, WY 83001; or a charity of choice.
ERNEST PAUL WOLFF
Ernest Paul Wolff, of Lake Jackson, Texas, passed away Sunday, March 23, 2003.
He was born November 29, 1929 in Berlin, Germany, the son of Reinhold Paul Wolff and Erna Weber Wolff.
He came to the United States with his family, in 1938, was educated in Miami, Florida and after receiving his BS from the University of Miami, came to Freeport, Texas.
He purchased a home in Lake Jackson in 1977. In 1955, he joined Dow Chemical as a Research Analyst and retired in 1986, after 30 years and seven months of service. He was active in community service as a volunteer at Brazosport Memorial Hospital and as a member of the Chapelwood United Methodist Church.
He was an avid Philatelist from his earliest youth and was active in the Johnson Space Center Stamp Club and in promoting stamp collecting. He amassed a magnificent collection, which encompassed the entire world and brought him into correspondence with people in more than a dozen countries, some of whom became personal friends and exchanged visits with him.
Ernest was gregarious and developed life-long and close friendships in the Lake Jackson and Freeport area, the last years of his life at Carriage Inn, Lake Jackson, where he developed a large number of new and close friendships.
He is survived by two brothers, John Wolff of Ithaca, New York and Thomas Wolff of Silver Springs, Maryland; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was close to his family and deeply beloved by all of us. He will be sorely missed.
Family members will receive condolences from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 26, 2003, at Lakewood Funeral Chapel in Lake Jackson, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, March 27, 2003, at the Lakewood Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Dr. James Reiter officiating. Services will be followed by a commemorative meal at the Chapelwood United Methodist Church.

She was born Thursday, December 3, 1964 in Effingham, Illinois and passed away Sunday, March 23, 2003 in Galveston, Texas.
She was a member of Church of Christ in Damon, Texas.
Survivors include her husband, Mark Hoelewyn of Damon; son & daughter-in-law, Edward Thomas & Sarah Hoelewyn of Ft. Stewart, Georgia; daughters, Jovita C. Hoelewyn of Damon and Staci L. Hoelewyn of Damon; father, Arland Ray Thompson of Palacios; brothers, Jimmy Arnold of Damon and Clifford Arnold of Palacios; sister, Betty Broussard of Palacios; and two grandchildren.
