Mrs. Houck
Bertie Rae Houck, 87, of Corpus Christi died Friday, Dec. 8, 2006, after a very short battle with lung cancer.
She was born Oct. 18, 1919, in Henryetta, Okla., to James Henry and Nellie Lowry Cunningham. She married Luther Houck on June 5, 1937, in Henryetta, Okla.
Mrs. Houck spent most of her married life in Corpus Christi and Papalote. She was an organizer of many community events in Papalote and was a supporter of the Skidmore-Tynan school and the Papalote Volunteer Fire Department during her 24 years in Bee County. She was an avid bowler for more than 30 years. During their retirement years, she and her husband traveled extensively across the United States and belonged to the Corpus Christi Land Sailors RV Club. She was a member of Parkdale Baptist Church in Corpus Christi.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years; her parents; three brothers; three sisters; and one grandson, Dennis Boudreau.
Survivors include three daughters, Velma Jo (John) Kreis of Papalote, Carolyn (Larry) Boudreau of Corpus Christi and Ava (Ernie) Hurst of Beeville; 10 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held from 1 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Sawyer George Funeral Home in Annaville. The funeral service was held today (Wednesday) at 10 a.m. at Parkdale Baptist Church in Corpus Christi with Rev. Luis Garcia officiating.
Burial followed at 2 p.m. in the Evergreen Cemetery in Skidmore, with a graveside service conducted by Amador Ramirez.
Pallbearers were Amador and John Ramirez, Robert and Eric Graham and David and Michael Treiber.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Parkdale Baptist Church Christian Care Center, the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
Arrangements were under the direction of Sawyer George Funeral Home in Annaville.
Mrs. Kraber
Gudrun “Becky” Kraber, 83, of Normanna died on Sunday, Dec. 10, 2006. She was born on Feb. 19, 1923, in Normanna to Gudrun Husvik and Ottar Beck. She married Richard Edward Kraber on May 3, 1944, in Santa Monica, Calif. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church. She worked as a secretary for McDonald Douglas Aircraft Corporation of Santa Monica, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Survivors include two children, Sonja Yvonne Kraber of Normanna and Gary Richard Kraber and wife Nancy of Rescue, Calif.; six grandchildren, Kimberly Garza of Fairfield, Calif., and Noelle, Danielle, Monique, Vanessa and Lorena Falcon, all of Rescue, Calif.; and six great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Infant Moreno
Gage Anthony Moreno, infant son of Felipe and Sally Cardona Moreno, died on Sunday in a local hospital.
A rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Trevino Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Victory Cemetery #2. Father Patrick Donohoe will officiate. Other survivors include his grandparents, Rosie and Felipe Moreno, Sara Rodriguez, rod Rodriguez, Josefa Silva and great grandparents, Felipe Moreno Sr., Vivian Martinez and Ascencion Vasquez, five aunts, Gabriela Moreno, Wynonna Moreno, Linda Moreno, Patricia Cardona and Angie Garza, two uncles, Richard Moreno and Manuel Rodriguez.

Mr. Sanchez
Santiago S. Sanchez, 85, of Beeville died on Sunday, Dec. 10, 2006, in a Corpus Christi hospital.
He was born on May 26, 1921, in Beeville to Vicenta Salazar and Santiago Sanchez Sr. He was retired from General Motors, where he was employed for 28 years as an assembly-man. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was awarded the Purple Heart, four overseas service bars, a Good Conduct Medal and EAME Campaign Ribbon with three bronze stars. He was a Catholic.
Mr. Sanchez was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Ascencion Sanchez, on April 7, 2004.
Survivors include two daughters, Petra S. (Gary) McDaniel of Lansing, Mich., and Adelia Sanchez of Beeville; three sons, Juan (Sandra) Sanchez, Santiago Sanchez III and Oscar (Debra) Sanchez, all of Lansing, Mich.; one sister, Constancia Sanchez of Beeville; one brother, Jose (Ernestina) Sanchez of Beeville; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Treviño Funeral Home. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. today (Wednesday) at St. James Catholic Church with Rev. Balaswamy Pasala officiating. Interment followed at San Pedro Cemetery in the Clareville community with full military honors.
Pallbearers were Rafael Nino, Lee Nino, Juan Ibarra, Danny Villegas and Abel Sanchez.
Mr. Suniga
David Suniga, 85, of Beeville died Friday, Dec. 8, 2006, at Christus Spohn Hospital Beeville.
He was born Oct. 22, 1921, in Beeville. He was a member of the Catholic church and was a retired roofer.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Matilde R. Suniga, on Oct. 19, 1992.
Survivors include three sons, Teodoro (Dora) Garza, Benito (Gracie) Garza and Joe (Maria) Suniga, all of Beeville; two sisters, Eva Suniga and Beatrice Cortez, both of Beeville; a brother, Benito Suniga of Beeville; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Sunday at Trevino Funeral Home. The funeral Mass was celebrated at Our Lady of Victory Church on Monday at 10 a.m. with Father Luke officiating. Burial followed in Our Lady of Victory Cemetery No. 2.

Ms. Welsh
Irene Claire Welsh passed away on December 7, 2006, in Beeville.
She was born August 25, 1914, in New Orleans, Louisiana to William J. Welsh and Elizabeth A. Wattigny Welsh. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Peoples Program and St. Francis Cabrini. She previously worked for Dole Food as an expediter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Lily A. Welsh, and Eleanora L. Anticich, two brothers, Irwin P. Welsh and William Welsh.
She is survived by three nieces, Karen Miranda and husband Fausto of Durango, Colorado, Cheryl Betty Welsh Defley and husband Joseph of Belle Chase, Lousiana; one nephew, William Welsh of Slidell, Louisiana; three great nieces, Elizabeth Gleason, Cheryl Harrington, and Elizabeth Passmore; one great nephew, Raider Morgan; two great-great-nieces, Ashley Morgan and Eleanora Passmore, and one great-great-nephew, Steven Morgan.
Visitation was held Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2006 from 9-11 a.m. at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home in New Orleans, La. Funeral services followed at 11 a.m. with burial at St. Vincent DePaul Cemetery #1 in New Orleans, La.
Mrs. Broadway
Rita Florice (Flo) Broadway, beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother, went home to be with the Lord, September 5, 2007.
She was born in Kerens, Navarro County, Texas, on March 16, 1919, the only child of Opal M. Simmons and Henry Porter Montgomery. She lived in Kerens until she was eighteen years old and then moved to Pettus, Texas to be with her Mother and Step-Father, Opal and D. Possoit. In Pettus, she met the love of her life, L.J. Broadway. They married on April 16, 1938. They made their home in Pettus, Palestine and Kenedy, Texas, until his death in 1974.
Flo was a member of First Baptist Church of Beeville. She was loved by all who met her and knew her. She loved spending time with her family and friends, and listening to music. She volunteered her musical talents to various church organizations wherever they lived.
She was preceded in death by her parents; step-father; her beloved husband, L.J.; and granddaughter, Catherine Whitworth.
She is survived by her son and his wife, Lynn and Jacque Broadway; her daughter and her husband, Cheryl and Bill Whitworth; grandson and his wife, Russell and Sandy Broadway; granddaughters and their husbands, Heidi and Romey Winstead, Deanna and Jason Moore, Jennifer and Eric Hammond, Courtney and Kris Collins; great-grandchildren, Kathryn Broadway, Will Winstead, Brinn and Brook Hammond, Dylon and Cambell Collins.
There was to be visitation at the Funeral Home on Friday, September 7, 2007, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Services will be held at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home in Beeville on Saturday, September 8, 2007, at 11:00 AM. Interment to follow in Glenwood Cemetery in Beeville, Texas.

Mrs. McNeil
Faye McNeil, 84, of Carrizo Springs, died on Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2007, in San Antonio.
She was born on July 4, 1923, in Howard to Pricilla Henderson and Doc Russell. She was of the Baptist faith and a housekeeper.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include three daughters, Betty Lee Taylor of San Antonio and Brenda Faye (Dennis) Williams and Bertha (Chris) Knight, both of Austin; two sons, Willis Ray (Alma Jean) McNeil and Ted (Maria Isabel) McNeil, both of Carrizo Springs; one sister, Ardie Moreland of San Antonio; 18 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Mount Olive Baptist Church in Crystal City with Rev. Eric Rendell Tarver officiating. Interment will follow at Edgewood Cemetery in Crystal City.
Pallbearers will be Dennis Williams, Alfred Hodges, Charles Smith, Royce McNeil and Marcos Renteria.

Santos A. Sauceda, 76, of Beeville, died on Friday, Aug. 31, 2007, in Philadelphia, Pa.
He was born on Dec. 21, 1930, in Beeville, to Juliana Ansuala Sauceda and Pablo Rodriguez Sauceda. He was retired from the City of Beeville and was a custodian at Coastal Bend College. He was a Catholic.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Paula Gonzales Sauceda; one sister, Adela Posada; one brother, Mauro Sauceda; two brothers who died at birth, Braulio and Pablo Sauceda; one brother-in-law, Joe Felix Abrigo Sr.; and two sisters-in-law, Adelmira “Anita” Sauceda and Lottie G. Sauceda.
He is survived by one son, David Gonzales Sauceda of Philadelphia, Pa.; and three sisters, Lydia (Manuel) Carranco of Beeville, Julia Sauceda Abrigo and Felicita “Tita” (Bob) Ennis, both of Corpus Christi.
Visitation was to be held at 7 p.m. Friday at Treviño Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. today (Saturday) at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church with Father Luke officiating. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Victory Cemetery #2.

Mr. Verduzco
Carlos Verduzco, 72, of Beeville, died on Thursday, Sept. 6, 2007, in Christus Spohn Hospital Beeville.
He was born on Feb. 19, 1935, in Monterrey, Mexico, to Roberto and Cruz Martinez Verduzco. He was a retired auto body shop worker for Ford Motor Company and a Catholic.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Rosalba Verduzco on July 27, 2002; and one daughter, Maricruz Sauceda.
Survivors include two daughters, Sylvia (Adolfo) Villarreal of Harlingen and Gricelda Verduzco of Beeville; one son, Carlos (Oneida) Verduzco Jr. of Beeville; one sister, Margarita Trevino of Monterrey, N.L., Mexico; one brother, Mario Verduzco of Monterrey, N.L., Mexico; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
