DeLuna
Guadalupe C. DeLuna, 72, died Sunday, Aug. 11, 2002.
She was born in Pettus on May 6, 1930, to Aurelio and Juliana (Gonzales) Castro. She was a housewife and a Catholic.
Mrs. DeLuna is survived by her husband, Esteban DeLuna of Pettus; two daughters, Evangelina (Javier) Espinoza of Chicago, Ill., and Esmeralda (Manuel) Lara of Elkgrave, Ill.; two sons, Eberardo “Birdie” (Maria Martinez) DeLuna of Tuleta and Ernesto (Anita) DeLuna of Beeville; a half-sister, Herlinda Alyandro of Pettus; a brother, Santiago Castro of San Antonio; a half-brother, Arturo Castro of Pettus; 15 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Esteban C. DeLuna Jr., on April 2, 1978, and one grandson, Joshua DeLuna, Dec. 1, 2000.
Rosary was recited Monday night at Treviño Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, with Father Richard Gonzales officiating. Burial followed in the Pettus Cemetery.

Reeve
Kathlyn Geraldine “Jean” Reeve, 94, formerly of San Antonio, died Sunday, Aug. 11, 2002, in Beeville, where she resided.
She was born in Alba to Thomas  Jefferson and Sarah Emma Braddy. After high school graduation, she moved to Dallas, where she married John M. Reeve on Aug. 22, 1936, in the East Dallas Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband on March 22, 1990. She was also preceded in death by her six brothers and sisters and by one great-grandson.
She was a charter member of Alamo Heights Christian Church.
She is survived by her children, Dr. Mike and the Rev. Jerry Huckman of Beeville and Jackie Arvantinos and husband Chris of Jamestown, N.Y.; grandchildren, Dr. Michael E. Huckman of Corpus Christi, Mark and Julie Huckman of Lago Vista, Hill and Vannessa Huckman of Richmond, Wayne Evans of Austin, Chris Evans of Jamestown, N.Y., and Greg Evans of Burlington, Vt.; great-grandchildren, Matthew Huckman, Olivia Huckman and August West Evans.
The family received friends on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Eckols Funeral Home in Kenedy. They will receive friends at Alamo Heights Christian Church in San Antonio on Wednesday (today) from 1 to 2 p.m. Services will be held at that location at 2 p.m. with Dr. Bob Chandler officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, San Antonio. Pallbearers will be her six grandsons.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Kirtley Scholarship Fund at Alamo Heights Christian Church, 6435 N. New Braunfels, San Antonio, TX.
Arrangements were handled through Eckols Funeral Home, Kenedy.

Williams
Lt. George D. Williams, 51, died Sunday, Aug. 4, 2002, in Houston.
He was active in the Houston Police Department for 32 years. He was born in Houston and loved hunting and fishing. His mother, Mable, preceded him in death in 1993.
He leaves behind his father, Lloyd Williams; a sister, Becky and husband Dr. Bill Zipperer; two nephews, Michael and Gregory Zipperer of Mesa, Ariz., and many other family members.
Visitation was held Tuesday, Aug. 6, at Earthman North Funeral Chapel in Houston. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Aug. 7, at the same location. Pastor Clay Bowers of Rittenhouse Baptist Church, the Rev. Leroy Pearson and Chaplain Edwin Davis of HPD officiated. Graveside services and interment were held at Blanconia Baptist Cemetery in Blanconia the same day.

Williams
LeRoy Larkin Williams, 65, died Saturday, Aug. 10, 2002, at Christus Spohn Hospital in Beeville.
Mr. Williams was born Jan. 4, 1937, in Kansas City, Mo., to Orpha (Snider) and Glenn Lewlen Williams. He married Agnes Bray in Ray Point on July 31, 1981. He was a warehouse manager and was employed by the  Texas Department of Corrections for 10 years and was the owner of the George West Lumber Yard for 10 years. He served in the U.S. Navy for four years and was a Mason.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Orpha Williams.
Survivors include his wife, Agnes Williams of Beeville; six daughters, Kathy (Jim) McIntyre of Pearland, Debbie (Lynn) Bennett of Carthage, Cheri Wallace and Suzie (John) McMahon of Tomball and Kandy Cobb and Helen Williams of Beeville; one son, Raymond Cobb of Huntsville; and 11 grandchildren.
The funeral was held Monday at 10 a.m. at Galloway & Sons Chapel in George West with the Rev. Bruce Irving officiating. Burial followed at the Clegg Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Bill Bauer, Matt Migura, Joseph Snider, Travis Martin, David Smith, Andrew Snider, Charles Snider and Mario Rodriguez. Honorary pallbearer was Buck Timon.

Wolf
Richard A. Wolf Sr., 61, died Sunday, Aug. 11, 2002, at Christus Spohn Hospital Beeville.
A memorial service was held Tuesday at 4 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Don  Taylor officiating.
Mr. Wolf was born March 18, 1941, to Ewald L. and Charlotte (Merkle) Wolf in Grand Rapids, Mich. He married Mary Ann Lamprecht on July 6, 1974, in Tynan. The couple resided in Skidmore, and Mr. Wolf was a retired warehouseman formerly employed with Water Well Supply Co. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Wolf; three sons, David Alan Wolf of Los Angeles,  Calif., Chris Wolf of Skidmore and Richard A. Wolf Jr. of Portland; a brother, Lary Wolf of Corpus Christi; four grandchildren; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice or the American Heart Association Coastal Bend regional office, 500 N. Shoreline, Suite 904, Corpus Christi, TX 78741.

Barboza
Julian Barboza Sr., 39, died Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2002, in Beeville.
Mr. Barboza was born on Sept. 14, 1962 in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaualipas, Mexico, to Elpidio and Perpetua Barboza of Nuevo Laredo. He was a welder at the Southwest Power Plant.
A prayer service will be held tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Trevino Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Thursday morning at 10 a.m. at the Trevino Funeral Home with Pastor Oscar Contreras officiating. Burial will follow at Glenwood Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his wife, Belinda Casas Barboza of Beeville; his mother; four sons, Julian Barboza Jr., Geraldo Barboza, Israel Barboza and Johnny Joe Keller, all of Beeville; eight sisters, Rita Nunez of Skidmore, Elodia Reyes of San Antonio, Claudia Valdez of San Anotonio, Alma De La Torre of San Antonio, Veronica Ortiz of Mississippi, La., Leticia Valdez of Dallas, Mary Lou Contreras of Nuevo Laredo and Amada Vargas of Del Rio; two brothers, Antonio Barboza of San Antonio and Arturo Barboza of Nuevo Laredo.

Guillen
Juan G. Guillen Sr., 66, of Hereford died Monday, Feb. 17, 2003, at his residence.
Prayer vigil will be recited at 7 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Rix Funeral Chapel in Hereford. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 2 p.m. at La Iglesia de San Jose with Msgr. Arturo Meza officiating. Burial will follow in St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery.
Mr. Guillen was born on May 6, 1936, in Madisonville to Pedro and Dolores Guillen. He was raised in Navasota. He married Minnie Gallegos on Aug. 28, 1954, in Weslaco. He moved to Hereford in 1962 from Abernathy. He owned and operated Guillen and Sons Pipe Line for more than 35 years. He was a member of La Iglesia de San Jose, was also a member of San Jose Men’s Organization and a member of the Cursillistas.
He is survived by his wife, Minnie Guillen of Hereford; two daughters, Angie Rico and Norma Treviño, both of Hereford; four sons, Johnny and Jessie Guillen, both of Amarillo, Jose Ramiro Guillen of Hereford and Mark Anthony Guillen of Clovis, N.M.; four brothers, Lucio Guillen of San Antonio, Antonio Guillen of Jacksonville, Pedro Guillen of Bryan and Felipe Guillen of Conroe; nine sisters, Angie Luis of San Antonio, Lucia Saldivar of Caldwell, Monserrata Salazar of Caldwell, Maria Silva of Asherton, Bacilia Herrera of Hempstead, Modista Ortiz of Beeville, Juana Reyes of Lubbock and Natividad Leyva and Celia Martinez, both of Bryan; 19 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to La Iglesia de San Jose, 709 Brevard, Hereford, TX 79045 or Crown of  Texas Hospice, 1000 South  Jefferson, Amarillo, TX 79101.
Arrangements were handled through Rix Funeral Directors of Hereford.

Hancock
Richard Wilson Hancock, 56, died Thurs-day, Feb. 13, 2003, in San Diego,  Calif.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 4 to 9 p.m. at Galloway and Sons Funeral Home chapel. Rosary will be recited that evening at 7 o’clock. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 2 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, with Father Richard Gonzales officiating. Special music will include “Old Rugged Cross” and “Nearer My God to Thee,” featuring organist Sister Julie Macaraeg, O.P., and soloist Ray Barefield. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
Mr. Hancock was born on March 4, 1946, in Beeville to James Martin and Dorothy Alice (Wilson) Hancock. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Houston. He married Jill Jensen in 1978 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He resided in San Diego,  Calif. He was a retired investment broker who had been employed with Rouscher Pierce in Dallas and Houston. He had also served in the criminal justice division of the Office of Governor Dolph Briscoe.
He was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity, Knights Templar, 32nd degree Scottish Rite and Austin Masonic Lodge 12.
Survivors include his son, Richard W. Hancock Jr. of San Diego,  Calif.; two daughters, Dorothy Suzanne Hancock of San Diego,  Calif., and Allison Marie Hancock of Idaho Falls, Idaho; and two brothers, James M. Hancock Jr. of Stafford and Joseph P. Hancock of Beeville.

Stroud
Mary Joyce Beck Stroud, 59, died Friday, Feb. 14, 2003, in Katy after a long battle with brain and lung cancer.
She was raised on the land her great-grandfather settled on in 1894, when he arrived from Bardal, Norway. Jacob Johan Beck named his new home Normanna and his eventual family of 12 children helped settle the area. Mrs. Stroud’s relatives have been in Normanna for 109 years.
Mrs. Stroud was valedictorian of her high school class in 1960. She attended Trinity University her freshman year then transferred to  Texas A&I in Kingsville, where she majored in math, minored in French and graduated with a degree in secondary education. Mrs. Stroud was a member of the band and a twirler at Trinity. She was named to Who’s Who, the Gold Jackets and was president of Alpha Sigma sorority at  Texas A&I during the 1963-64 school year. She also participated in the inter-sorority council, student council (secretary, 1963-64), was junior class reporter, and continued her band and twirler interests. While at  Texas A&I, she met her future husband, John Scott Stroud. They were married on June 14, 1964, in Beeville.
Mrs. Stroud taught school for 38 1/2 years. Her teaching career spanned Bishop High School;  Texas A&M, where she taught French and earned her master’s degree in education in 1971; Allen military Academy; A&M Consolidated High School; and Magnolia High School. She then arrived at Sealy High School, where she taught from 1982 until December 2002, when her illness forced her to resign.
Survivors include her husband, Scotty; her children, Heather Kristin and Shane Scott; her parents, Magnus Olaf Jr. and Betty Jane Beck of Normanna; a sister, Carol Jane Beck Proctor, and a brother, Magnus Olaf Beck III, both of Dallas; her mother-in-law, Margille Stroud; her brother-in-law, Clifton E. Warrick; a sister-in-law, Ethel Warrick; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held today (Wednesday) at 4 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sealy, with the Rev. Merle Blado officiating. Interment will follow at Pebble Grove Cemetery in Maysfield at 1 p.m. Thursday.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mary J. Stroud, Sealy High School Scholarship Fund, Citizens State Bank, P.O. Box 600, Sealy, TX 77474.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Knesek Brothers Funeral Chapel in Sealy.

Vargas
Ramiro Vargas, 76, died Dec. 6, 2002, in Melbourne.
He was born on Aug. 12, 1926, in Karnes City to Martin R. and Herminia F. Vargas. He was a retired staff sergeant in the U.S. Air Force and was also retired from Lockheed-Martin at Kennedy Space Center. He was a member of the Catholic church. He enjoyed baseball and country and bluegrass music.
Survivors include three daughters, Sandra Devorah, Mitzi Woodward and Rhonda Vargas; five sisters, Ninfa (Greg) Gomez of Houston, Ethel Alvarado and Mary Eva (Tomas) Treviño, both of Beeville, Teresa (Tom) Baltazar of Riverside,  Calif., and Bernice Hernandez of Fresno,  Calif., one sister-in-law, Pauline Vargas; four brothers, Manuel (Anita) Vargas of Lamesa, Pablo (Dora) Vargas of Converse, Wally (Consuelo) Vargas of Somerset and Adan (Sofie) Vargas of San Antonio; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral Mass was celebrated on Dec. 9 at Ascension Catholic Church in Melbourne.
Funeral arrangements were handled through Brownlie-Maxwell Funeral Home in Melbourne.

Baker
Roy Paul Baker, 49, died Saturday, Oct. 11, 2003, after a 19-year battle with brain cancer, at his home in Sugar Land.
He graduated from A.C.  Jones High School in 1973. He was a private investigator and owner of Condor Security, Inc. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and woodworking with his family and friends. Mr. Baker married Donna Knickle 20 years ago on July 9, 1983, in Wilmington, Mass.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Nancy (Burkhardt) Baker.
Survivors include his wife, Donna; their children, Ryan and Jennifer; sisters Sharon Bellis of Beeville, Paulette Williams of Lake  Jackson and Debra Segovia of Laredo; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Clifford and Barbara Knickle of Massachusetts; brother-in-law Mark Knickle and wife Tracy; sisters-in-law, Laura Byers and Cheryl Knickle; a godson, Brendan Knickle; 12 nieces and nephews; and 11 great-nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held from 5 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2003, in the chapel of Earthman Funeral Directors Southwest. Mass was celebrated at 11 a.m. today at St. Laurence Catholic Parish in Sugar Land.
In lieu of flowers, a scholarship fund has been established for Ryan and Jennifer at Guaranty Federal Bank, 14121 Southwest Freeway, Suite A, Sugar Land, TX 77748.
Arrangements were handled through Earthman Funeral Directors, Southwest, Stafford.
