Thomas
Tolbert Yancey “T.Y.” Thomas, 82, died Friday, Dec. 20, 2002, at Garden Estates Senior Life Style Center in Corpus Christi.
Visitation was held Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Galloway and Sons Funeral Home chapel. Funeral services took place Monday at 11 a.m. at the same location, with the Rev. Leo Oliver officiating. Burial followed in the Stockdale Cemetery.
Mr. Thomas was born on March 13, 1920, in Robstown to John and Lee (Morrison) Thomas. He married Willie Frank Moffitt in Corpus Christi on April 22, 1959. He resided in Corpus Christi and had retired from Enron in 1982. He had also worked for Amoco Oil Co. and Houston Natural Gas Corp. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
Mr. Thomas is survived by his wife, Willie Frank Thomas of Corpus Christi; a son, T.Y. Thomas Jr. and wife Yolanda of San Antonio; a daughter, Vivian Y’Vonne Ogden and husband Ralph of Sabinal; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Tippins
Virginia Rose “Ginger” Tippins, 43, died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2002, in a Corpus Christi hospital.
Visitation was held Monday from 2 to 3 p.m. at Bethlehem Baptist Church. Funeral services took place that afternoon at 3 o’clock at the same location, with the Revs. Oliver Greer and Eric Tarver officiating. Burial followed in St. Rose Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Charles Hodge Jr., Lionel Hodge, Calvin Davis, Charleston Bess, Cedric Lewis, Oliver Toliver and Justin Lewis.
Ms. Tippins was born on Nov. 5, 1959, in Beeville to Wilburt and Daisy (Barefield) Tippins. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her father in 1982.
Survivors include her mother, Daisy Tippins of Beeville; her sisters, Shirley Jefferson, Ann Roy, Sandy Vasquez, Becky Sivers and Terry Silvas, all of Beeville; two brothers, Wilburt Tippins Jr. and wife Sarah of McAllen and Raul Casarez of Beeville; a goddaughter, Brandie Washington; her nieces and nephews, Jeremy Tippins, Jeanette and Jessica Tippins, Veronica Howard, Monica Parks, Craig Jefferson and Eric Lott; a great-niece, Ebony Howard; three great-nephews, Jackson Tippins, Jarrod Howard and Darian Jefferson; an aunt, Sammie Barefield; an uncle, Theodore Tippins; and a host of cousins and friends.

Medlock
Betty Chloe Medlock, 77, of Katy died Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2003, in a Houston hospital.
She was born on Oct. 19, 1925, in Shreveport, La., to Leonard and Marie (Peters) Collins. She had lived in the Katy area since 1995, and before that resided in Midland. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Medlock.
Mrs. Medlock is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Barry and Sandy Medlock; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Lynn and Jack Klotz; grandchildren, Kenneth B. Medlock III, Mark R. Medlock, Jared A. Medlock and Kyle H. Klotz; a sister, Jo Williams, and husband Ed; an aunt, Augusta Peters; as well as other family members and friends.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday at the Forest Park Cemetery in Shreveport, La., with Dr. Pat Day officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts be made to The Methodist Children’s Home, 1111 Herring Ave., Waco, TX 76708.

Arevalo
Sylvia Del Bosque Arevalo, 53, a former resident of Beeville, died Wednesday, June 9, 2004.
Mrs. Arevalo graduated from A.C. Jones High School and attended Bee County College. She retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. after 31 years of service. She was a devoted Dallas Cowboy fan and enjoyed watching every Cowboy game. She was also very active in volunteering for Special Olympics, Operation Paint Brush, and with many other charities. She enjoyed raising poodles and spending quality time with her family.
Survivors include her husband, Fidel Arevalo of Corpus Christi; her mother, Irma Moreno Del Bosque of Beeville; one sister, Rosie Del Bosque Courts of Corpus Christi; two nieces, Connie Del Bosque and Jeneva Ochoa; one nephew, Reno Del Bosque, all of Corpus Christi; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Arevalo was preceded in death by her father, Ricardo Del Bosque Sr., and her brother, Ricardo Del Bosque Jr. A rosary was to be recited at 7 p.m. Friday at Treviño Funeral Home
Cano
Gabriela “Aurelia” Cano, 82, died Thursday, June 10, 2004, at Christus Spohn Hospital Beeville.
Rosary was to be recited on Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Trevino Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated today (Saturday) at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church with Father Eddie H. Garcia officiating. Burial will follow at Our Lady of Victory Cemetery No. 2.
Pallbearers will be Ernesto and Refugio Cano, Roberto and Lupe Gonzales, Armando Vasquez and Johnny and Jaime Gonzales. Honorary pallbearers will be Leticia Gonzales and Adriana Cano.
Mrs. Cano was born in Duval County on March 18, 1922, and she resided in Beeville. She was a homemaker and was a member of the Catholic church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Norberto Contreras and Manuela Escobedo.
She is survived by four daughters; Aurelia (Frank) Gonzales, Susie Cartagena and Leonor Cano, all of Beeville, and Cecilia Perez of Refugio; three sons; Juan (Juanita) Cano and Eugenio Cano, both of Beeville, and Guadalupe (Rosa) Cano of Victoria; one sister; Juanita Nava of McKinney; four brothers; Jose Contreras of Corpus Christi, Juan Contreras of Wisconsin, Gaspar Contreras of Kerrville and Ruben Contreras of Mathis; 22 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren.
Nieto
Carmen Nieto, 78, of Mathis died Friday, Aug. 13, 2004.
Her son, Ruben Nieto, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, Francisco Nieto of Mathis; her mother, Esther Reyes Vega of Dallas; four sisters, Lala Alafa of Farmersville, Calif., Alma Hernandez and Irene Hernandez, both of Dallas, and Estella Marroquin of Robstown; a brother, Roberto Vega Reyes of Mexico; three grandchildren, Ruben Nieto Jr. of Dallas, Frank Nieto of San Antonio and Joann Nieto of Mathis; and two great-grandchildren, Jaydene Rivers and David Charles Rivers III, both of Mathis.
The family received friends on Sunday from 1 to 9 p.m. at Treviño Funeral Home in Mathis. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mathis. Burial followed at Cenizo Hill Cemetery.

Staples
Lois Lucille Gilbert Staples, 77, died Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2004.
Private family services were held with the Rev. J.W. Stevens officiating.
Mrs. Staples was born in Brazoria County on Sept. 5, 1927, to Eugene and Ellen (Smith) Gilbert. She resided in Beeville and was a retired ward clerk in San Patricio County.
Survivors include her son, Walter Edward Staples Jr. and wife Karen of Aransas Pass; four daughters, Shirley Ann Lee of San Antonio, Bobbie Jean Zimmerman and husband Don of Rockport, Wanda Gail Huth and husband Mark of Goliad and Norma Gay Stephenson and husband Dennis of Beeville; her grandchildren, Edward Jason Lee, Melissa Brader, Tanna Strong, Darrel Adkins, Tammy Erls, Lawrence Daughtrey Jr., Adam Jay Daughtrey, James Michael Tucker, Mark Christopher Huth, Charlie Huth, Robby Stephenson, Eric Stephenson and Walter Edward Staples III; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Johnson
Doris Jane Johnson, 84, died Saturday, Dec. 18, 2004.
She was born in Denison on July 13, 1920, to Ira L. and Bessie Johnson. She was a care giver and had been a lifelong resident of South Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers and sisters, Jack, Roy, Carlyle and Frank Johnson and Bessie Beckham.
Survivors include numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Dobie Funeral Home chapel in Mathis with the Rev. Ron Walker officiating. Interment followed at Papalote Protestant Cemetery.
Arrangements were handled through Dobie Funeral Home, Mathis.
Salazar
Maria Salazar, 91, died Monday, Dec. 20, 2004, in Spring Season Nursing Home.
Rosary will be recited tonight (Wednesday) at 7 o’clock at Treviño Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church with Father Luke officiating. Burial will follow at Our Lady of Victory Cemetery No. 2.
Pallbearers will be Victor Salazar Sr., Jerry Romero, Adan Ramirez Jr. and George Gonzales.
Mrs. Salazar was born in Wallis on Oct. 13, 1913. She was a housekeeper and a Catholic. She belonged to the Cursillistas.
Survivors include her daughter, Rose (Adan) Ramirez Sr. of Beeville; a son, Arturo (Virginia) Granado of Edinburg; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Standridge
Billie Frances Thornal Standridge, 73, died Sunday, Dec. 19, 2004, in Midland.
Visitation was held Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Galloway and Sons Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at the same location with Pastor Jason Teague officiating. Special music will include “God Be With You Till We Meet Again,” “Blessed Assurance” and “Just As I Am.” Burial will follow in Skidmore’s Evergreen Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ray Martin, Frank Carriger, George Baker, Allen Bohac, Steven Standridge and Robert Meyers. Honorary pallbearers will be the Skidmore Volunteer Fire Department’s Ladies Auxiliary.
Mrs. Standridge was born in McAlester, Okla., on Oct. 21, 1931, to Arthur and Elizabeth (Littlefield) Thornal. She married Carmen R.J. Standridge in Oklahoma on Oct. 31, 1947. She resided in Midland and was a former resident of Beeville.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Midland. She had been a beautician and owned Billie’s Beauty Shop. She was a member of the volunteer fire department EMS and the Ladies Auxiliary. For many years she drove a bus for the Skidmore-Tynan ISD.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carmen R.J. Standridge, who died on Dec. 21, 2003, and a granddaughter, Doretta Standridge.
Survivors include her sons, Richard Allen Standridge and wife Michelle of Midland and Michael Wayne Standridge and wife Martha of Goliad; three daughters, Frances Smigielski and husband Robert and Tessie Claudine Rugar and husband Fred, all of Beeville, and Patricia Ann Cole and husband James of Semora, N.C.; two sisters, Tommie Baldi of El Paso and Wanda Anderson and husband Leonard of Oceanside, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Peña
George Peña, 41, of George West died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2005.
He was born Aug. 7, 1963, in Chelan, Wash., to Estevan and Nicolasa (Peña) Segura.
Mr. Peña was a leadman at Bay Refinery and a member of St. George Catholic Church in George West.
Survivors include his wife, Greta (Chapa) Peña of George West; four children, Angelica Marie Chapa, Adrian Lee Chapa and George Andrew Peña, all of George West, and Tina Ann Peña of Corpus Christi; parents, Estevan and Nicolasa Segura of Robstown; three sisters, Anita Hernandez of Corpus Christi, Monica (Freddy) Rubio of Ohio and Sandra (David) Gonzalez of Robstown; four brothers, Tom (Micaela) Peña, Steve (Diane) Segura and Eddie Segura, all of San Antonio, and Samuel (Josie) Segura of Robstown; and a granddaughter, Angelina Marie Chapa of George West.
Visitation will be held today (Wednesday) from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Galloway & Sons Chapel in George West with a rosary at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. George Catholic Church in George West with Father Joseph Olikkara officiating. Burial will follow at the George West Cemetery.
