Benitez
Ramona Saenz Benitez, 79, died Friday, April 16, 2004, at her residence in Beeville.
Rosary was recited Sunday at 7 p.m. at Treviño Funeral Home. Funeral Mass was recited Monday at 2:30 p.m. at St. James Catholic Church with Father Balaswamy Pasala officiating. Burial followed in Clareville’s San Pedro Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Juanito and Trini Benitez, Jorge (Quincy) Benitez Jr., Frank Benitez Jr., Pedro Nieto III, Marco Cantu, R.J. Benitez and Ramiro Benitez Jr.
Mrs. Benitez was born in Clareville on July 14, 1924, to Rafael V. Saenz and Feliz Garza Garcia. She married Luciano R. Benitez on Aug. 11, 1947, in Beeville. She was a housewife and a Catholic.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Fermin and Federico Saenz; a sister, Josefina S. Garcia; and a nephew, Placido Garcia Sr.
Survivors include her husband, Luciano R. Benitez of Beeville; two daughters, Oralia (Pedro) Nieto of Taft and Adelmira “Adel” (Berna) Espinosa of Beeville; seven sons, Ramiro (Millie) Benitez and Jorge Mario (Debra) Benitez, both of Beeville, Juan Urbano “Bane” (Maria Christina Garza) Benitez of Austin, Luciano (Elsa) Benitez Jr. of Kenedy, Frank (Florita) Benitez of Granbury, Mauro (C.B.) “Chichio” Benitez of Humble and Ralph (Isabelle) Benitez of Rosharon; a brother, Andres (Elva) Saenz; a sister, Isabelle Saenz, both of Beeville; 29 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren.
Espinosa
Zoila S. Espinosa, 82, died Wednesday, April 14, 2004.
Rosary was recited Thursday at 7 p.m. at Treviño Funeral Home. Funeral Mass was celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, with Father Richard Gonzales officiating. Burial followed in Our Lady of Victory Cemetery No. 2.
Mrs. Espinosa was born in Beeville on Jan. 1, 1922, to Ramon and Margarita (Doughlas) Salinas. She was a housekeeper and a Catholic. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jose Espinosa, and her parents.
Survivors include two nieces, Santos Narvaez of San Antonio and Margie Olivarez of Corpus Christi.
Nicholson
Jean Turner Nicholson, 67, died Tuesday, April 20, 2004.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Pettus Baptist Church with the Rev. Wes Barnett officiating. Special music included “In the Garden” with pianist Roy Cox. Mrs. Nicholson will be cremated.
Mrs. Nicholson was born in Brownfield on May 2, 1936. She married Bobby Don Nicholson in 1967 in El Paso. She resided in Pettus and was formerly of Hobbs, N.M. She was a retired teacher and a Baptist.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Buddy Patrick.
Survivors include her husband, Bobby Don “Bo” Nicholson of Pettus.

Paredez
Augustin Paredez, 85, died Friday, April 16, 2004.
Visitation was held Monday at Puente and Sons Funeral chapels in San Antonio. Rosary was recited that evening at 7 o’clock at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church. Funeral Mass was celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the same location. Interment followed at Mission Park South.
Pallbearers were Derrick Gonzales, Ryan, Antonio and Cruz Paredez, Felix Paredez II, Felix Paredez III and Ruby Valent.
Mr. Paredez was born in Melvin on Aug. 28, 1915. He lived in Beeville until 1951, when he moved to San Antonio to begin working at Kelly Air Force Base, where he served a 30-year career as an electrical repairman with the directorate of maintenance. He was an accomplished musician, having played semi-professionally as a young man with several local conjuntos and bands. He enjoyed the accordion and guitar, often playing at family gatherings.
He served his country in the U.S. Army, and was stationed in Italy with the 188th Port Company in the European theater during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Rafelita (Fela) Paredez; his son, Ralph Paredez; and sister, Dolores Garcia.
Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Augustin Jr. and Diane, Oscar and Rose, Teresa; daughters and sons-in-law, Gloria and Wallie Gonzales, Yolanda and Guillermo Puente, Sandy and Danny Guerrero, and Rachel Paredez; 19 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; his brothers, Antonio, Felix II and Cruz Paredez; his sisters, Maria de Jesus Arredondo, Catarina Rendon, Anita Rodriguez and Blanca Estella Paredez; and a special family friend, Ruby Valent.
Arrangements were handled through Puente and Sons Funeral Chapels, San Antonio.
Seger
Margaret Mary Dolan Seger, 77, died Tuesday, April 20, 2004.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 4 to 9 p.m. at Galloway and Sons funeral home. Rosary will be recited Friday at 7 p.m. at the same location. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Father Lukose “Luke” Thirunelliparambil officiating. Burial will follow in the Seger Ranch Family Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Keaton Wright, Sean Somners, Will Seger, Jim Young, Mike Young, Ethan Naff and Jimmy Frazier. Honorary pallbearers will be James R. Frazier, Ralph Young, Bob Lunday, Peter Naff, Larry Wright, Mike White and Doug Benditz.
Mrs. Seger was born in San Patricio on Aug. 9, 1926, to William F. and Lorena C. (Brown) Dolan. She married Bernard W. Seger on Sept. 5, 1949, in Beeville. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and a retired registered nurse. She was a member of the Christus Spohn Hospital Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Seger, who died in 1988.
Survivors include two sons, Billy (Mary) Seger of Flatonia and Bernard J. Seger of Beeville; five daughters, Shawn (Bob) Lunday of Abu Dhabi, UAE, Sheila (Doug) Benditz of Houston, Margaret Nell Taylor of Sugar Land, Robin (Mike) White of Houston and Mary Lou (Larry) Wright of Beeville; 21 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ellen Clark of Beeville and Philomena (Ralph) Young of Goliad; two sisters-in-law, Regina Dolan and Patricia Ruebush, both of Beeville; a brother-in-law, James R. Frazier of Latham, N.Y.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Weathersbee
Former Beeville resident Adeline Weathersbee, 92, died Jan. 17, 2004, at University Terrace Good Samaritan Village in Las Cruces, N.M.
She was born in Whitney on Jan. 22, 1912. She lived and worked in Beeville many years before moving to Las Cruces in 1978.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Corrie and Charles Golden; her sisters, Sally Taylor and Lela Harris; her son, Freddie (Sonny) Weathersbee; a nephew, Billy Taylor, all of Beeville; a daughter, Doris Pearson of Fredericksburg, Iowa; and a grandson, Jerry Wayne Pearson of Preston, Iowa.
Surviving relatives are her daughter, Bobbie Hatch; her grandsons, Larry Cutbirth and wife Christine of Las Cruces, N.M., Tony Cutbirth and wife Sharon of Hatch, N.M., Robert Pearson of Washington, Eddie Pearson and wife Wanda of Liberty and Roger Pearson of Colorado; her granddaughters, Gwen Bormann and husband Bo, Patty Walls and Tammy Pearson, all of Fredericksburg, Iowa; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Weathersbee was cremated. A private service will be held at Beeville’s Glenwood Cemetery on Saturday at 10 a.m.

Perez
Demesio G. “Mencho” Perez Jr., 63, died on Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2004, in Beeville.
Mr. Perez was born on Sept. 8, 1940, in Beeville. He was retired with the Beeville Coca-Cola Company as warehouse supervisor for 26 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Demesio Perez Sr. and Barbarita Garcia; two sons, Demesio Perez III and Roberto Perez; his brother, Nick Perez; and his stepsister, Juanita De Russe.
He is survived by his daughters, Elizabeth Chica of California, Norma and Mary Jane Perez, both of Beeville; his sons, Danny Perez of Beeville and Alfredo Perez of San Antonio; his sister, Balentia Gomez of Beeville; and his brothers, Santos, Martin and Luis Perez, all of Beeville; 15 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Prayer services were held on Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Treviño Funeral Home chapel. Funeral services were held on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial was followed at the Cemeterio Evangelico.
Serving as pallbearers were Manuel Chica Jr., John Edward Gomez, Antonio P. Gomez Jr., Luis Isaac Perez, Danny Perez, Rudy David Perez and Rene Contreras.
Silva
Sigifredo “Freddy” Silva, 60, died Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2004.
Mr. Silva was born on July 14, 1944, in Edinburg to Pedro Silva and Lenore Farias. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Joseph Gabriel Silva, and one brother, Servando Silva.
Survivors include his wife, Josie Martinez Silva; two daughters, Rosie Moreno and Angie (Ted) Garza; two brothers, Silvano Silva and Salvador Silva; one sister, Lupe Silva Rodriguez; and eight grandchildren; Joseph Allen Silva, Felipe Moreno III, Gabriela Moreno, Wynonna Moreno, Richard Moreno, Julia Garza, Joseph Garza and David Garza, all of Beeville.
Visitation was to be held on Friday from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. at Treviño Funeral Home, with a rosary at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated today (Saturday) at 2 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Father Luke officiating.
Burial will follow at Our Lady of Victory Cemetery No. 2. Serving as pallbearers will be Eddie Silva, Bobby Silva, Joe “Neto” Martinez, Gerald Martinez, Michael Martinez, Fernando Garza, Mingo Salinas and Oscar Garcia.

Abelardo Balli Perez, 59, of Corpus Christi died Friday, Oct. 15, 2004, in Port Charlotte, Fla.
He was born in San Antonio on Jan. 11, 1945, to Adagoberto Sr. and Maria (Balli) Perez. He was self-employed as a carpenter and had served in the U.S. Army. He was a Catholic.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Adagoberto Perez Jr. and Arturo Perez, a sister, Magdalena Perez, and a son, Abelardo V. Perez Jr.
Survivors include his companion, Aurora Perez of Corpus Christi; his sisters, Anna Maria Covington of Taft, Minerva (Richard) Stubbs of California, Mae Linda Perez of Pasadena, Matilde P. Covington, Marta (Fernando) Rivas, Millie P. Baldillez and Margarita P. Rodriguez, all of Beeville; a brother Armando (Mary) Balli Perez of Beeville; and three grandchildren.

Dominga Ponce, 86, died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2004, at her residence in Beeville.
She was born in Three Rivers on April 27, 1918, to Juan and Maria (Rodriguez) Gamez. She was a housewife.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Juventino Ponce Sr., and her parents.
Survivors include her daughters, Ima Ramirez, Gloria Galbraith and Kay Ponce, all of Beeville, Ida Acosta of New Orleans, La., and Viola Bedrossian and Faye Sadeghi, both of Stafford; a son, Jay Ponce of Stafford; 21 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.
