Ybañez
Christoval Ybañez, 76, of George West died Saturday, Oct. 18, 2003, in Corpus Christi. He was born Sept. 12, 1927, in George West to Pablo and Ynez (Peña) Ybañez.
Mr. Ybañez was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a retired fencing contractor and a member of St. George Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Pablo and Ynez Ybañez.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Garcia of George West; three grandchildren, Willie Y. Garcia, Chris Pablo Garcia and Raven Anne Garcia; two brothers, Benito Ybañez of George West and John Ybañez of San Antonio; and three sisters, Frances Gonzales and Elodia Leal, both of George West and Emma Garza of Arlington.
Rosary was recited at the Galloway & Sons Chapel in George West on Monday. The funeral Mass was celebrated Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the St. George Catholic Church in George West with Father Joseph Olikkara officiating. Burial followed in the St. George Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Joey Leal, Thomas Zapata Jr., Eddie Zapata, Joe Zapata, Joey Ponce and Arturo Gutierrez.

Benbow
Roger Benbow, 52, died Friday, Dec. 19, 2003, in Yoakum.
He was born on Nov. 8, 1951, in Bay City. He graduated from the Commonwealth College of Mortuary Science in Houston in 1972. He had owned and operated Dobie Funeral Home in Mathis from 1983 until September of this year. He was an avid hunter and saltwater fisherman, enjoying his hunts for trophy bucks in Mexico and catching his limit of trout and redfish.
He was preceded in death by his father, George M. Benbow.
Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Joan Benbow; two sons, Aaron and Blake Benbow, all of Mathis; his mother, Joyce Benbow; his brother, Gary (Emily) Benbow; his mother-in-law, Gladys Newby; brother-in-law, Van Newby, all of Yoakum; and three nieces.
Visitation was held Monday from 4 to 9 p.m. at Dobie Funeral Home, with the family present between 6 and 8 p.m. Funeral Mass was celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mathis. Graveside services followed at 3 p.m. at Restland Cemetery in Yoakum.

Brasfield
Kirby Allen Brasfield, 60, died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003, at Christus Spohn Hospital Beeville.
Visitation was held Tuesday from 5 to 9 p.m. at Galloway and Sons Funeral Home chapel. Funeral services took place today (Wednesday) at 10:30 a.m. at the same location, with the Rev. Doug Burton officiating, assisted by Phil Russell. Special music included “Count Your Blessings,” with organist Juan Manuel Senties and singer/guitarist Justin Treviño. Burial followed in Beeville Memorial Park.
Pallbearers were Roger and L.A. Brasfield, J.P. Guyton, David Blackwell, Lucy Cano and Noel Vega.
Mr. Brasfield was born on Oct. 13, 1943, in Slayton to Lyle Earle and Mildred Beatrice (Woodford) Brasfield. He served in the U.S. Air Force. He married Maria Lozano on April 11, 1988, in San Antonio, Venezuela. He was a Beeville resident and a business owner.
Survivors include his wife, Maria Edy Brasfield; a son, Haz Aaron Brasfield, both of Beeville; three daughters, Sueena Brasfield of Arkansas, Milda Alis Jackson of Midland and Amy Reineke of Waco; two brothers, Lyle Albert Brasfield of Richmond, Ga., and Roger Aaron Brasfield of Buda; and one sister, Mary Sue Dillon of Murfreesboro, Tenn.

Lonnie J. Isaacks, 63, died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003, at Christus Spohn Hospital Beeville.
Visitation was held Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Galloway and Sons Funeral Home chapel. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Word of Life Church, with the Rev. Dale Switzer officiating. Burial followed in Glenwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Isaacks was born on Oct. 2, 1940, in Edroy to Harvey and Alma Renee (Crisp) Haskett. She married Richard Isaacks on Aug. 6, 1965, in Beeville.
Survivors include her husband, Richard Isaacks of Beeville; a son, Rick Isaacks of College Station, a daughter, Teresa Jacobs of Meridian, Miss.; her mother, Renee Crisp Adams of Corpus Christi; four grandchildren, Eric Lane Isaacks, Cory Shane Isaacks, Nathan Andrew Jacobs and Kayla Marie Jacobs; one step-sister, Clarice Droughton of Bellaire; four brothers, Harvey Haskett of Sealy, Calvin Johnson of Texas City, Walton Johnson of Russellville, Ark., and Marvin Johnson of Odem; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Adela M. Martinez, 84, died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003, at Northwest Regional Hospital in Calallen.
Visitation was held Monday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Galloway and Sons Funeral Home chapel. Rosary was recited Monday at 7 p.m. at the same location. Funeral Mass was celebrated Tuesday at 2 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, with Father Balaswamy Pasala officiating. Special music included “On Eagle’s Wings,” “Amazing Grace,” “Be Not Afraid,” “Here I Am Lord,” “One Day at a Time” and “Wind Beneath My Wings,” with organist John Marks Silva. Burial followed at Our Lady of Victory Cemetery No. 2.
Pallbearers were Art Gomez III, Michael and Albert Gomez, David Martinez, Victor Guzman and Clemente Aguilar. Honorary pallbearers included Kristoffer Gomez, Javier Villegas, Ronnie Martinez, Arturo Galvan, Lorenz Martinez and Melissa Reyes.
Mrs. Martinez was born on Oct. 29, 1919, in Cuero to Alberto and Sofia (Torres) Martinez. She married Derlin Martinez on Feb. 20, 1939, in Beeville. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and a homemaker. She was a retired department store clerk and a member of the Beeville hospital’s Pink Ladies group.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers, David and Rodolfo Martinez, five sisters, Elida Villarreal, Clara Aguilar, Stella Garza, Lucia Garcia and Sofia Martinez.
Survivors include a daughter, Adelina Gomez and husband Jose Arturo of Beeville; five grandchildren, Derlina Villegas and husband Pete of Calallen, Susan Gomez and Art Gomez III of Corpus Christi, Michael Gomez and wife Ida of Kyle and Albert Gomez of San Antonio; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Standridge
Carmen R.J. Standridge, 76, died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2003.
Visitation will be held Friday from 5 to 9 p.m. at Galloway and Sons Funeral Home chapel. Funeral services will take place Saturday at 10 a.m. at the same location. Special music will include “Amazing Grace” and “The Old Rugged Cross.” Burial will follow in Skidmore’s Evergreen Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Moore, Frank Carriger, Mike Standridge, Arnold Banta, Jack Downs and Leo Franco. Honorary pallbearers will be David Parks, Lee Goetz, George Baker and Richard Standridge.
Mr. Standridge was born on Sept. 25, 1927, in Russellville, Ark., to James Arthur and Edna (Mason) Standridge. He married Billie Thornal on Oct. 31, 1947, in Oklahoma. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He resided in Beeville and was retired from Southern Pacific Railroad after 31 years. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Billie Standridge of Beeville; three daughters, Frances Carmen Smigielski and Tessie Claudine Rugar, both of Beeville, and Patricia Ann Cole of Semora, N.C.; two sons, Richard Allen Standridge of Midland and Michael Wayne Standridge of Goliad; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, May Bingham of Hobbs, N.M.

Webb
Georgia N. Webb, 72, died Friday, Dec. 19, 2003, in a Corpus Christi hospital.
She was born on Dec. 3, 1931, in Kent County to William Fred and Edith Prince Shipp. Mrs. Webb retired as a supervisor from Super D in Corpus Christi after 15 years of service.
Survivors include her three daughters, Susan (Lynn) Gage of Mathis, Virginia, Marsha Cohan of Odem and Lauren (Robert) Jones of Corpus Christi; two sons, David and Leslie (Carol) Estes, both of Skidmore; a brother, Albert Rotamble; a sister, Nina Jo Zink, both of Corpus Christi; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Monday at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Skidmore with the Rev. Lee Bevly officiating. Burial followed in Evergreen Cemetery.
The family requests memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.

Sarah Sherry Guajardo, 38, died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2004, in San Antonio.
Visitation was to be held Friday from 2 to 9 p.m. at Angelus Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Ms. Guajardo will be cremated.
She was born in Muleshoe on July 28, 1964, to Eleuterio Guajardo and Jesusa Morón Pantoja. She was a graduate of A.C. Jones High School. She was a San Antonio resident and a postal carrier.
Survivors include her friend, Wayne Burnett; a son, David Flores Jr.; a daughter, Destiny Guajardo; her father, Eleuterio Guajardo; her mother, Jesusa Pantoja; a brother, Eleuterio Guajardo Jr.; her maternal grandparents, Juan and Maria Morón, all of San Antonio; two sisters, Sylvia Guajardo and Sandra Quintana, both of Amarillo; and her paternal grandmother, Antonia Guajardo of Beeville.

Ina Lavada Jones, 89, died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2004.
Visitation was to be held Friday from 4 to 9 p.m. at Galloway and Sons chapel. Funeral services will be held today (Saturday) at 2 p.m. at the same location with Bob Patterson officiating. Special music will include “The Last Mile of the Way,” “How Beautiful Heaven Must Be” and “Safe in the Arms of Jesus.” Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Leonard Jones, David Shepherd, Randy Gotcher, Roy Freeze, Doyle Childress and Lester McCoy.
Mrs. Jones was born in Karnes County on June 14, 1914, to Arbet and Alma (Hoggatt) Bishop. She married Dan G. Jones in Beeville on April 2, 1933. She was a member of the Church of Christ and volunteered with the hospital’s Pink Ladies for many years. She worked at Cox and Cox Abstractors and was a retired courthouse employee.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a sister and a brother.
Survivors include her nephews, Newton Holton of Lufkin, Donnie Holton of Navasota and Dr. Ronnie Moore of Houston; and a niece, Lucille Gotcher of Houston.

Scott
Deacon Armando J. Scott, 77, died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2004, at Downtown Baptist Hospital in San Antonio.
He was the father-in-law of the Rev. Adrian A. Amaya, rector of St. Philip’s Episcopal Church in Beeville.
Survivors include his wife, Maria Scott; his children, Louis Scott, Sara Scott-Rodriguez and Anna Maria Amaya; and his siblings, Charles Scott and Esther Llamas.
Deacon Scott was born on July 13, 1926. He will lie in state after 5 p.m. on Sunday in St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Elmendorf. Rosary will be recited at 7 o’clock that evening at the same location. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony’s. Interment will follow at San Fernando Cemetery No. 2 in San Antonio.
