Mrs. Reyes
Sophie C. Chapa Reyes, 73, of Beeville died on Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2006.
She was born on Dec. 4, 1933, in Beeville to Fred and Senaida Govella Chapa. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church and a private caregiver.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include one son, Robert Reyes and wife Vickie of Beeville; two grandchildren, Robert Steven Reyes and Danielle Renee Reyes, both of Beeville; and one brother, Fred Chapa and wife Mary Lou of Beeville.
Visitation was held from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Angelus Funeral Home with a rosary recited there at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today (Saturday) at St. James Catholic Church with Rev. Balaswamy Pasala officiating. Interment will follow at Beeville Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Fred Chapa, Xavier Chapa, John Fulghum, Eddie Fulghum, Richard Duran and Jason Masur.

Virginia R. Cantu, 85, of Beeville, died on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2007.
She was born on April 3, 1922, in Tynan to Juan and Avelina Rodriguez. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church and a homemaker.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Francisco “Frank” V. Cantu; one daughter, Maria Louisa Rodriguez; and her parents.
Survivors include two daughters, Virginia (Lupe) Rivas; and Lupe (Ramon Santellana) Perez, both of Beeville; one son, Frank (Adelita Gonzales) Cantu of Beeville; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and one sister, Eloisa Flores of Beeville.
Visitation was held from 2 to 9 p.m. Monday at Angelus Funeral Home with a rosary recited there at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. James Catholic Church with Rev. Balaswamy Pasala officiating. Interment followed at Beeville Memorial Park.
Pallbearers were David Ulloa, Rocky Garza, Joey Suniga, Mike Loya, BJ Saldivar, Benny Rodriguez, Michael Rodriguez and Freddy “Boy” Rodriguez.

Alfredo G. Garcia, 64, of Beeville, died on Friday, Sept. 28, 2007.
He was born in Beeville on Sept. 27, 1943, to Lillie Garcia and Rosendo “Mingo” Garcia. He served in the United States Marine Corps and was a Vietnam veteran. He married Doris A. Brown in December 1982 in Jacksonville, N.C. He was retired from NAS Chase Field as an aircraft mechanic. He was a Catholic.
He is survived by his wife, Doris A. Garcia of Beeville; three daughters, Tammy Fox and Lilly Ann Elizondo, both of Beeville, and Cindy Geiger of Akron, Ohio; three sons, Don Shreve and James Shreve, both of Beeville, and Brandon Michel of Virginia Beach, Va.; his parents, Rosendo “Mingo” and Lillie Garcia of Beeville; two brothers, Rosendo Garcia Jr. of Beeville and Danny Garcia of Victoria; one sister, Cata Longoria of Beeville; several nieces and nephews; 16 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held from 3 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Angelus Funeral Home. A rosary was recited there by Deacon Manuel Carranco at 7 p.m. Sunday.

Audrey Kelso Ivy, 82, died on Friday, Sept. 28, 2007, in a San Diego nursing home.
She was born on Dec. 13, 1924, in Gillette to Milton Thomas and Lottie Self Kelso. She was a retired nurse with 45 years of nursing.
Survivors include one daughter, Patti Paine of Beeville; one son, James Ledbetter of Corpus Christi; one sister, Loretha Tschoepe of Alice; one brother, Tommy Kelso of Premont; and four grandchildren.
Visitation was held from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday, with the family present from 3 to 5 p.m., at Holmgreen Mortuary in Alice. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday at Holmgreen Mortuary Chapel in Alice. Interment followed in the Orange Grove Cemetery.
Arrangements were entrusted to Holmgreen Mortuary Inc. in Alice.
Mrs. Jackson
Aurora Lee (Clarke) Jackson died on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2007, in Bertram, Texas.
Born Sept. 21, 1921, in Corpus Christi, Mrs. Jackson had lived in Beeville from 1947 to 1969, then in Fulton until moving to Bertram in January 2006. She was a lifelong homemaker, an active member of Rockport Church of Christ for many years and was a member of the Oatmeal Church of Christ. She also enjoyed ceramics.
She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 59 years, Frank W. Jackson Jr.; and her mother, Eloise (Chaffin) Gilbert.
She is survived by her children Frank W. Jackson III and wife Charlotte of Santa Fe, Carol Lee Allen and husband James of Bertram and Mark L. and Sylvia Jackson of Marshall; five grandchildren, Wendy Brown, Jennifer Maus, Dawn Byars, Richard Miller and Jeffrey Miller; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Midway Church of Christ in Hitchcock with Mr. Russell McLaughlin officiating. Interment followed at Confederate Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Justin Brown, Brandon Byars, Michael Gray, Phillip Maus, Jeffrey Miller and Richard Miller.
Arrangements were entrusted to Hayes Funeral Home in Hitchcock.

Lola R. Ramirez, 82, of Beeville, died on Monday, Oct. 1, 2007, at Christus Spohn Hospital Beeville.
She was born on Sept. 21, 1925, in Beeville to Angelita and Andres Rivas Sr. She was a housewife.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband, Ricardo Ramirez Sr. of Beeville; one daughter, Gloria Ann (Paul) Benavidez of Corpus Christi; two sons, Ricardo (Josefina Teresa) Ramirez Jr. of San Antonio and Santiago Ramirez of Beeville; two brothers, Andres (Josefina) Rivas of Corpus Christi and Reymundo (Noemi) Rivas of El Paso; six grandchildren, Tressa R. Pizano, Hipolito R. Benavidez, Ricardo Ramirez III, Alfonso Ramirez, Amelia T. Ramirez and Lorenzo Ramirez; and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation was to be held at 10 a.m. today (Wednesday) at Treviño Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited there at 7:30 p.m. tonight. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 3 p.m. Thursday at St. James Catholic Church with Rev. Balaswamy Pasala officiating. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Victory Cemetery #1.

Mary Josephine Redding, 82, of Beeville, died on Sunday, Sept. 30, 2007, at Christus Spohn Hospital Beeville.
She was born on May 6, 1925, in Beeville to Inez Lee and William Morris.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, William Redding.
She is survived by one daughter, Martha Haun of Beeville; one son, DeWayne (Barbara) Redding of Hesperia, Calif.; one brother, Garland D. Harrison of Clareville; four grandchildren, Virgil and Regina Haun, Natalie Roberts and DeWayne Redding; and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Bible Baptist Church, with funeral services at 11 a.m. officiated by Pastor Dave Reese. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Skidmore.
Pallbearers will be Rocky, Blake, Ernie and Lyndon Stautzenberger, Jerry Dunson and Kenneth Wallek.

Jesus “Jesse” Rodriguez, 83, of Beeville, died on Thursday, Sept. 27, 2007, at Victoria Warm Springs Hospital in Victoria.
He was born to Juanita Hernandez and Manuel Rodriguez in Kyle on Feb. 5, 1924. He was a retired construction worker.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include one daughter, Susie Cardona of Altus, Okla.; one son, Lupe Rodriguez of Quanah; one stepson, John Gomez of Quanah; and two sisters, Felicita Carrillo of Gonzales and Martina Mendez of Beeville.
A rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Treviño Funeral Home. Funeral Mass was celebrated there at 2 p.m. Monday with Pastor Guadalupe Hernandez of Victoria officiating. Interment followed at Evangelico Cemetery.

Gomez
Eva Maria Gomez, 69, died Wednesday, May 8, 2002.
Visitation was held Monday evening at the Angelus Funeral Home Chapel, and a rosary was recited that same night. Funeral services were held at the graveside at Beeville Memorial Park Tuesday morning with Father Richard Gonzales officiating.
Mrs. Gomez was born to Marcos and Maria (Nava) Adamez in Mathis on June 4, 1932. She resided in Beeville and was a homemaker and a Catholic.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband, Pedro Gomez of Beeville; three daughters, Mary Francis Hernandez of Beeville and Ninfa Gomez and Felicita Gomez, both of San Angelo; two sons, Robert Gomez of San Angelo and Pedro Gomez Jr. of Atlanta, Ga.; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; three great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Estella Gomez of Houston.

Rosa Silva Estraca, 44, died Wednesday, May 8, 2002, at her home in Mathis.
Rosary was recited Friday evening at Treviño Funeral Home Chapel in Beeville. Funeral Mass will be celebrated today (Saturday) at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mathis, with Father Bill Elliott officiating. Burial will follow in Descanso Eterno Cemetery No. 2 in Mathis. Pallbearers are Felecita Zamora, Diana Olivarez Ramon, Elida Rodriguez, Fidela Salinas, Lupe Hernandez and Corina Guartuche.
She was born in Mathis July 31, 1957, to Guadalupe Sr. and Clemencia (Vela) Silva. She was a housewife and a Catholic.
Mrs. Estraca was preceded in death by her parents. She was married July 31, 1976, to Pedro Estraca in Victoria. She graduated from Mathis High School that same year.
She is survived by her husband, Pedro Estraca of Mathis; one daughter, Lydia Estraca of Seymour; two sons, John Estraca of Mathis and Leonard Estraca of California; three sisters, Herminia Perez of Beeville, Lydia Bernal of Austwell and Clemencia Martinez of Mathis; and three brothers, Guadalupe Silva Jr. of Edinburg, Rosendo Silva of Mathis and Jesse Silva of El Campo.
