Mrs. Griffith
Annette Carroll Griffith, died peacefully at home on the ranch on march 25, 2007.
She was born on January 26, 1926, in Taft, Texas to James Clairmont and Anna Brooken Carroll. She was one of four daughters. She attended Southwestern University and received her degree in Home Economics. She came back from Georgetown to become the first Home Demonstration Agent with the Extension Service in Nueces County. On January 20, 1948, Annette married Charles Hobbs Griffith. They shared a wonderful life together on the ranch with lots of laughter, hard work, good friends, and good times.
Annette was affectionately known as “Honey” to her family and those close to her. She will be remembered for her sweet and generous nature. She always had a warm smile and looked forward to good company, a good rain, and a baby calf.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles Hobbs Griffith; her three sisters, Betty Carroll Floerke, Joan Carroll, and Jamie Carroll Hollon. She will be missed and forever remembered by her family: her daughters, Ann Griffith Ash, Carol Griffith, and Jane Griffith Partlow and her husband, Tom Partlow; her grandchildren, Beth Houser Cole, Matt Griffith Petrus and his wife Kim, Becky Houser Canavan and her husband John, William Robertson Petrus and his wife Kara, Jenny Partlow Price and her husband Travis, Molly Petrus Thomas and her husband Rob, Thomas Ross Partlow and his wife Carrie, Abbie Partlow Mayo and her husband Michael, and Sara Griffith Ash. She was also blessed with fourteen great-grandchildren, Hannah and William Petrus, Hobbs and Rusty Price, Anna, Emma, Stella and Rob Welder Thomas, John Canavan, Brooken Cole, Mike Petrus, Nate Mayo and Abbie and Maddie Partlow. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Don Hollon, James Hollon, Anna Kay Harris, Leslie Hollon, Diane West and Monte Floerke.
Graveside services will be held at the Griffith Ranch Headquarters in the family cemetery at 11 a.m. on (Wednesday) March 28, 2007. Pallbearers will be her son-in-law Tom Partlow and Matt Petrus, Will Petrus, Ross Partlow, Travis Price, Michael Mayo, Rob Thomas and John Canavan. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Gaines, Eddie Boone, Tony Kunitz, Monte Floerke, Eliseo Cantu, and Dwight Gregorezyk.

Mr. Stridde
Edward Fredrick Stridde, 93, of Tynan died on Monday, March 26, 2007.
He was born on Feb. 7, 1914, in Gonzales to William F. and Olga E. Stridde. He and his wife, Bettina, moved to the Tynan community in 1945, where he farmed. He was an active member of his church and community. He served on the church council for the Peace Church of Tynan for several terms. He helped in constructing the annex to the church building and in adding an addition to the Tynan Recreation Hall. He served as president of the Branch 16 Hochheim Prairie Insurance Association, president and agent of Hermann Sons Insurance Lodge 284, a director of Bee County Co-op Association and served on the Live Oak County Water and Soil Conservation Board. He was selected as Lions Club Outstanding Conservation Farmer of 1972 and 1976 by the Live Oak Soil and Water Conservation District. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and gardener.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Norma Zamzow; two brothers, Raymond Stridde and Herbert Stridde; and one granddaughter, Michelle.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Bettina Jostes Stridde of Tynan; one daughter, Patricia (Marvin) Crutchfield of Kenedy; two sons, Elwood (Barbara) Stridde of Victoria and Michael (Sharon) Stridde of Calallen; one brother, Oscar Stridde of Ray Point; six grandchildren, Scott Stridde of Orange Grove, Jacqueline Stridde of Victoria, John Crutchfield of Round Rock, Steven Crutchfield of New York City, N.Y., Kristy Dupree of Mesquite, and Kimberly Sinquefield of Fort Worth; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Dobie Funeral Home Chapel with the family being present from 6 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be there at 10 a.m. Friday with Pastor Wade Fuhrken officiating. Interment will follow in the Waldheim Cemetery in Tynan.

Cynthia Ann Studlar, 35, of San Antonio and formerly of George West, died on Thursday, March 22, 2007, at a San Antonio hospital.
She was born on Dec. 14, 1971, in Cuero. She was in the education field and worked at Radiance Academy in San Antonio.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Collier of San Antonio; five daughters, Courtney Creacy of Kerrville, Ashley Collier of Marble Falls and Amber Collier, Megan Collier and Desiree Collier, all of San Antonio; two sons, Matthew Collier and Steven Collier, both of San Antonio; her parents, Joyce Monse of George West and Laddie Studlar of Hobson; two sisters, Leah Alvarado of Falls City and Krystal Studlar of George West; one half-sister, Dawn Moy of Nixon; two half-brothers, Charles Studlar of Karnes County and Jerry Studlar of Falls City; one stepsister, Jolene Monse of Port Neches; one stepbrother, Wesley Monse of Winnie; nieces, Cassie Alvarado of Falls City and Erynn Studlar of George West; nephew, Matthew Studlar of Falls City; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Roberson Funeral Home in Three Rivers. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church of George West. Interment will follow at the George West Cemetery.

Mr. Daughtrey
Lawrence J. Daughtrey, 76, of Normanna, died on Thursday, March 15, 2007.
He was born on March 5, 1931, in Burnet to Nellie Nichols and Wilton Thomas Daughtrey. He was a truck driver.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Cindy Daughtrey; and one brother, Cecil Carroll Daughtrey.
He is survived by 14 children, Christine Stagner and husband Don of Clarksville, Tenn., Virginia Carroll and husband Steve, Lawrence Daughtrey, Cecil Daughtrey and wife Theresa and Robert Daughtrey, all of Pettus, Vickie Currie and husband Carl of Conroe, David Daughtrey and wife Carolyn of Brandon, Fla., John Daughtrey and wife Jane of Mullins, Patricia Carrillo of Camp Wood, Rosie Shipman and husband Jerry of Three Rivers, Tommy Daughtrey and wife Tammy of New Holland, Pa., Michelle Schefell and husband Casey of Beeville, Sherrie Koch and husband Jay of Lititz, Pa., and Valerie Daughtrey of Normanna; 36 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Dougherty
Verna Lee McCulley Dougherty, 71, of Beeville, died on Monday, March 19, 2007.
She was born on Feb. 22, 1936, in Happy in Swisher County, to Granville Harvey and Trudie Mae Jones McCulley. She graduated from Athens High School, received a bachelor of science degree from the University of Texas and a master’s degree from the University of Houston. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Mrs. Dougherty was a retired elementary teacher and special education diagnostician at Mathis ISD, George West ISD, Beeville ISD, Skidmore-Tynan ISD and St. Mary’s Academy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Harvey McCulley.
Survivors include three sons, Robert Dougherty III, John Patrick Dougherty and wife Shannon and Michael Harvey Dougherty, all of Beeville; one daughter, Mary Catherine Brown and husband Roland of Goliad; one sister, Kitty Pearl Gauntt of Corpus Christi; two brothers, Joe McCulley of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Roger McCulley of Greenville; and nine grandchildren, Patrick, Steven, Madalynn, Jacob, Christopher, Mary Elizabeth and Joseph Dougherty, and Casey and Cody Brown.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. in the chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Special music will be sung by Jody Sullivan. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.

Josefa DelBosque Garcia, 101, of Beeville died on Tuesday, March 20, 2007.
She was born on Jan. 23, 1906, in Normanna to David Martinez and Calistro Delbosque.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Anselmo Garcia; two sons, Raul and Rito Garcia; two daughters, Delia Salazar and Emilia Garcia; and one grandson, Johnny Ray Garcia.
Survivors include three sons, Jose D. Garcia and Calistro D. Garcia Sr., both of Beeville, and Benny Garcia and wife Griselda of Kansas; one daughter, Margie Herrera of Corpus Christi; 37 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; numerous great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Condrada DelBosque of San Antonio.
Visitation will be held from 1:30 to 2 p.m. Friday at Our Lady of Victory Cemetery #2, followed by graveside services at 2 p.m.

Eric Luna, 34, of Houston died on Friday, March 16, 2007.
He was born on Feb. 4, 1973, in Brownsville to Maria Guadalupe Luna.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Candelario and Gregoria Luna.
Survivors include his mother, Maria Guadalupe Luna of Beeville; one brother, Francisco Luna of Houston; one sister, Esmeralda Navarrete of Beeville; one uncle, Leo Luna of Houston; and seven nieces and nephews.

Mr. Schley
Brooks Morrill Schley, 86, of George West died on Friday, March 16, 2007.
He was born on Oct. 2, 1920, in George West to Edna Lavinia Morrill and Charles Cecil Schley. He earned a bachelor of science degree from Texas A&I University and was a member of Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in George West. He was retired from the First National Bank of George West as senior vice president. He was a U.S. Marine, served in the Pacific and was a survivor of both the Battle of Iwo Jima and Battle of Okinawa during World War II. He was a member of the George West Kiwanis Club and was a Channel 6 weather watcher. On Feb. 25, 1949, he married Betty Rose (Scottie) Kimbriel in San Antonio.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Betty Scottie Schley; and one sister, Lavinia Massey.
Survivors include two sons, Brooks Schley Jr. of Port Harcourt, Nigeria, and Robert Schley of Cuernavaca, Mexico; and one grandson, Matthew Schley of Orange Grove.
Visitation was held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home chapel in George West. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church with Rev. Mac Keeble officiating. Interment followed at George West Cemetery.

Mrs. Tijerina
Beatrice Tijerina, 86, of Arlington, formerly of Beeville, died on Wednesday, March 14, 2007, in Arlington.
She was born on Oct. 2, 1920, in Beeville to Prudencia Ybarra and Jesus Fernandez. She was a Catholic and a housewife.
Mrs. Tijerina was preceded in death by her husband, Felix Tijerina Sr.; and her parents.
She is survived by two daughters, Diana Gonzales of Arlington and Julia (Martin) Barrientez of Ingleside; two sons, Felix Tijerina Jr. of Arlington and Jesus Martin Tijerina of Kennedale; three sisters, Josefa Rios of Woodsboro, Amelia Villarreal of Robstown and Guadalupe Huerta of Corpus Christi; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Friday at Trevino Funeral Home. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Father Pat Donohoe officiating. Interment followed at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.

Raul Ybarra, 37, of Frost, died on Sunday, March 18, 2007, in Corsicana.
He was born on Aug. 11, 1969, to Maria Serrano and Apolonio Ybarra Sr. in Corsicana.
Survivors include his mother, Maria Ybarra of Frost; seven brothers, Richard Lee Ybarra and Zeke Ybarra, both of Frost, Albert Ybarra of Waco, Julian Ybarra and Felipe Ybarra, both of Beeville, Sefrino Ybarra of Corsicana, Cruz Ybarra of Fort Worth; and three sisters, Alicia Ybarra of Frost, Margie Servantes of Waco and Rosa Lee Williams of Palestine.
Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home Chapel in Corsicana. Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. today (Wednesday) at Dresden Cemetery with Deacon Lewis Palos and Father Danilo Ramos officiating.
