Miss Longoria
Analisa Denise Longoria, 17 years of age, passed away January 21, 2007, at her residence in Palito Blanco.
She was a very special daughter and granddaughter. She enjoyed watching Barney and loved Tejano music. She would light up your day by just smiling and laughing.
Preceded in death by: her maternal grandfather, Ruen Gaza and her paternal grandfather, Baldemar Longoria.
Survivors include her parents, Joseph and Sylvia Gaza Longoria of Palito Blanco, Tx; maternal grandmother, Annie Gomez Gaza of Palito Blanco, Tx; paternal grandmother, Dolores Perez Longoria of Beeville, Tx; one sister, Ashley Longoria of Palito Blanco, Tx; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Visitation was at 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 23, 2007, at Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home in Alice,  Texas. Rosary was also recited at 7 p.m. that same evening at Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home of Alice. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 24, 2007, at St. Joseph Catholic Church and burial will follow at the Roselawn Cemetery in Alice,  Texas.
Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Homes are entrusted with the arrangements.

Cadet Meserve
Timothy Ryan Meserve, 28, of Beeville died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2007.
He was born April 1, 1978, to Timmie and Heather Lee Harris Anzaldua in Brockton, Mass. He was a Ranger with the U.S. Army and was employed with the City of Beeville as a police officer. He was formerly employed with the Bee County Sheriff’s Department as a jailer. He enjoyed hunting.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Heather Anzaldua.
Survivors include his father, Timmie Anzaldua of Blanconia; three sisters, April Lee Duncan of North Carolina, Tiffany Anzaldua of Dallas and Amanda Anzaldua of Blanconia; and his partner, Teresa Griffith of Beeville.
A memorial service will be held this evening (Wednesday) at 6 o’clock at the Galloway & Sons Funeral Home with Pastor Pat Traxler officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Mr. Reese
Hiram Drew Reese, 86, of Cuero, died on Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2007, in a Victoria hospital, surrounded by his family.
He was born June 26, 1920, in Cuero. On Nov. 15, 1941, he married Gertrude Marie Stubbs in Seguin.
He began service in the Army Air Force during World War II on Oct. 31,1942. He was one of the "40 Brothers," an elite group of electronics communication specialists. He and his wife founded the Veteran's Coffee Shop on the campus of  Texas State University in San Marcos, where they each obtained degrees following his military service. He graduated with a bachelor of science degree in education and a master of science degree in educational administration. He completed post-graduate work at The University of  Texas at Austin, and was named the alumni homecoming king at the 50-year reunion. He was an early advocate of integration, and his research in this field was published. He served as high school principal in Somerset, Luling and Three Rivers. He was superintendent of schools in Three Rivers, Pleasanton and Prairie Lea. He served as UIL committee chairman for music and sports, and he was named one of the top 10 superintendents in  Texas during his tenure as a school superintendent. After retirement, he began a series of award-winning oil paintings depicting sites in  Texas. He presented "chalk talks" to churches, civic groups, nursing homes and schools. He received many awards and honors marking his accomplishments. He was an active member of First Baptist Church in Cuero, where he was a deacon. He was named Lions Club Citizen of the Year 1962 in Three Rivers. He was a past president of the Lions Club, a member of Phi Delta Kappa professional education organization, the order of the Red Red Rose Society of  Texas, the Chamber of Commerce, the Cuero Library Board, and he was a volunteer at Cuero Community Hospital.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Florence Moses Reese and C.R. Reese Sr.; two sisters, Estelle Davis and Lola Mae Dolesji; and three brothers, C.R. Reese, Jr., Floyd Moses Reese and Kenneth Reese.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Gertrude Reese; one sister, Sarah Harnden; two daughters, Mary Organek and husband Mark of San Antonio, and Debbie Potts and husband Neale of Belton; and two grandchildren, Lynsey Patrick and husband Bryan of Austin, and Luke Potts of College Station.
Visitation was on Thursday, Jan. 18, from 6-8 p.m. at Freund Funeral-Home in Cuero. Services were at 2 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 19, at the First Baptist Church of Cuero. Burial was at Hillside Cemetery in Cuero.
Pallbearers were Bill Reinhardt, Michael Reinhardt, Ray Reese, Raymond Reese, Luke Potts and Bryan Patrick. Honorary pallbearers were the men of the First Baptist Church of Cuero, Kenneth Reese, Gary Reese, Ronnie Roecker, Don Smith and Pete Beyer.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Cuero's building fund, P.O. Box 803, Cuero,  Texas 77954.
Arrangements were entrusted to Freund Funeral Home of Cuero.

Mr. Quintero
Regino Quintero, 63, of Beeville died on Sunday, Jan. 21, 2007, at Christus Spohn Hospital Beeville.
He was born to Juanita Arce and Juan Quintero on Sept. 7, 1943, in Big Wells. He was retired from the U.S. Army where he was a staff sergeant. While in the service he received the National Defense Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, Army Commendation Medal and Driver and Mechanic Badge. He was a correctional officer at the McConnell Unit and a Catholic.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Maria Pilar Quintero of Beeville; five sons, Juan Jose (Theresa) Quintero, Michael Anthony (Alma) Quintero and Randy Lee Quintero, all of Beeville, Regino (Jessica) Quintero of Houston and Angel (Diana) Quintero of Dallas; four sisters, Carolina Quintero and Veronica Quintero, both of Austin, Julia Q. Fernandez of Gatesville and Maria Q. Sandoval of Sullivan City; three brothers, Juan Quintero Jr. and Roberto Quintero, both of Austin, and Carlos Quintero of Gatesville; and four grandchildren, Julieta Maria, Christan Jose, Arianna Rae and Ava Grace Quintero.
Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Treviño Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday) at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Eddie Garcia officiating. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery with full military honors.
Pallbearers will be Hugo Chavez Jr., Carlos Rodriguez, Alex Ozuna, Jesse Trigo, Javier Trigo, Oscar Sandoval Jr.

Mr. Curtis
Robert “Bob” Webster Curtis, Sr., 86, died Monday, Jan. 15, 2007 at his home in Hobart,  Oklahoma. Born in Houston,  Texas on June 8, 1920, he was the son of Ward and Etta Mae Curtis.
Robert Curtis was an exceptional tennis player throughout his life. He won the University Scholastic League  Texas State Boys Singles Title in 1936, 1937 and 1938 and continued on at Rice University to win three Southwest Conference titles in doubles. He also won the NCAA National Doubles Title in 1947 playing with his friend Sammy Match. He is in the Rice University Hall of Fame and the  Texas Tennis Hall of Fame.
Mr. Curtis was a WWII Navy veteran serving as an Ensign in the Pacific. His career was spent working in the oil and gas industry and later as a nursing home administrator until retirement.
Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Brenda Curtis of Hobart, his sons and daughters-in-law, Bob and Janet Curtis of Boerne,  Texas and Chris and Evelyn Curtis of Beeville,  Texas, his daughters and sons-in-law Melanie and Danny Stephens of Folsom, California and Candy and Frank Hogan of Denver, Colorado, adopted son Roy Curtis of Hobart and stepsons Roy Burnam and Kenneth Burnam of Houston,  Texas, and nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Bob Curtis will be held Saturday, January 20th, at 2:00 p.m. at the Mangum Church of Christ with Roger Todd officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery under the direction of Greer Funeral Home of Mangum.

Mr. Leonard
Wesley Leonard, 47, of Austin, died on Thursday, Jan. 11, 2007.
He was born on June 16, 1959, in Laredo. He was a self-employed telemarketer. He was a Catholic. He graduated from A.C.  Jones High School in 1977.
He is survived by his father, Robert Wesley Leonard, and his stepmother, Francisca A. Leonard, both of Beeville; three sisters, Patricia Guardiola of Laredo, Melisa Rios and Thalia Gordon, both of Arlington; and three brothers, Robert Leonard of Corpus Christi, Kenneth Leonard of Austin and Richard Leonard of Karnes City.
A rosary was recited Thursday at 7 p.m. at Treviño Funeral Home. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Eduardo Garcia officiating. Interment was to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Pallbearers were to be Robert, Kenneth and Richard Leonard, Ricardo and Andy Guardiola and Ricardo Guardiola Sr.

Mrs. McGee
Gloria June Calvert McGee, 75, of Silsbee, died on Monday, Jan. 15, 2007, at Dogwood Trails Manor Nursing Home in Woodville.
She was born in Mineral and was a longtime resident of this area. She was a retired receptionist for Region Five Conference Center.
Survivors include two daughters, Terri Lynn Herridge of Coldspring and Suzanne Jeffcoat of Jasper; two sons, Wayne Calvert of Canton and Ronald Calvert of Seabrooke; one sister, Ann Newlin of Beeville; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, beginning at 5 p.m. at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Good Shepherd Baptist Church in Silsbee. Interment followed at Resthaven Cemetery.

Ponce
Luis G. Ponce, 81, of Beeville died Tuesday, April 3, 2007. Visitation was held Thursday at Angelus Funeral Home. The rosary was recited that evening at 6 o’clock. The funeral service was celebrated Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home, with Father Balaswamy Pasala officiating.
Burial followed in the Our Lady of Victory Cemetery No. 2.
Mr. Ponce was born June 21, 1925, to Longino and Delfina (Garcia) Ponce in Bee County. He married Otilia Hinojosa in Beeville in 1962 and was a retired construction worker and electrical lineman. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Otilia H. Ponce of Beeville; a son, Israel (Diana) Ponce of Conroe; a daughter, Amelia (Antonio) Suares of Houston; a stepson, Salvador “Mike” Garza of San Francisco,  Calif.; two stepdaughters, Ramona Moreno of Houston and Marcela Menchaca of Moore, Okla.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Inocensio Ponce of Fresno,  Calif.; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Mr. Carpenter
Richmond Carpenter, 88, formerly of Beeville, died on Sunday, March 25, 2007.
He was born on Oct. 21, 1918, in Luckenbach to Katy Eristent Deckert and Robert Henry Carpenter. He graduated in Refugio and served in the United States Army. On Jan. 11, 1946, he married Dorothy Mae Dorsey in Sinton. He was also a Fourth Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus organization and a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert H. and Katy Carpenter; and his wife, Dorothy Carpenter.
Survivors include one son, Richmond E. Carpenter II and wife Linda of Beeville; one grandson, Richmond E. Carpenter III of Refugio; one granddaughter, Annie Bailey of Beeville; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Frank Carpenter and wife Betty of Corpus Christi and Robert Carpenter of Beeville; one sister, Patsy  Schmidt of Mathis; one niece, Valarie Ann Dorsey Schweers of San Marcos; and one nephew, James M. “Jimmy” Dorsey of Durham, N.C.
Visitation was held from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home with a rosary recited there at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass was celebrated today (Wednesday) at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Interment followed at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus: Joe Malik, Paul Matula, John Veselka, Frank Cuevas, Nicolas Cardenas, Domingo Garcia and Rey Longoria.
