Mr. Isaacks
Marion Howard “Red” Isaacks, 76, of Corpus Christi died Friday, August 11, 2006.
He was the former City of Corpus Christi Director of Maintenance, a retired Navy pilot, former commander of Naval Air Station Corpus Christi, former commodore of Training Air Wing Four, and was the commanding officer of the Air Station, Chase Field, from 1974 to 1976.
Survivors include his wife, Clara Lee of Corpus Christi; two daughters, Elizabeth Laubach and Kelly Isaacks, both of Corpus Christi; two sons, Ronald Isaacks of Lakewood, Colo., and Patrick Isaacks of Magnolia; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 18 at Reid Chapel in Seaside Memorial Park in Corpus Christi.
Arrangements were by Seaside Funeral Home in Corpus Christi.
Mrs. Koehler
Juanita G. Koehler, 87, of West Columbia formerly of Beeville, died on Saturday, Aug. 12, 2006.
She was born n Dec. 30, 1918, in Pettus to Elohia Salinas and Jose Garza. She married Remigio V. Koehler in Goliad on Oct. 5, 1941. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.
Mrs. Koehler was preceded in death by her husband on Mar. 22, 1978; her parents, one sister and three brothers.
Survivors include one son, Willie Koehler and wife Vickie of Liverpool; four daughters, Elia Jaso of Freeport, Janie Garza of Angleton, Gladys Salazar and husband David of Alvin, and Ellen Frieze and husband Thomas of West Columbia; two brothers Aurelio Garza of Beeville and Gilbert Garza of Santa Fe; three sisters, Josephine Guzman of California, Maria Nino of Odem, and Elia Montemayor of Corpus Christi; 15 grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
Visitation was held on Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home. Funeral services were held there today (Wednesday) at 11 a.m. with Rev. Santos Garza and Rev. Luis Morales officiating. Burial was to follow at Our Lady of Victory Cemetery #2. Pallbearers were Allen Frieze, Russell Frieze, Jonathan Jaso, Jaime Garza, Freddie Garza, Jeff Salazar, Brandon Koehler, and Jarred Koehler.

Mr. Woodmansee
Stephen D. Woodmansee, 58, of George West died on Saturday, August 12, 2006 in Houston.
He was born on June 25, 1948, in Los Angeles, Calif. to Norma Newlin and Donald Ray Woodmansee. On Aug. 13, 1985, he married Paula James in Lake Charles, La. He was a member of First Baptist Church, the VFW George West Chapter, and Texas Game Warden Association. He was a Game Warden in the Live Oak area for 33 years before retiring. He received a bachelors degree and served in the United States Marine Corps.
Mr. Woodmansee was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Linda McFall.
Survivors include his wife, Pamela J. Woodmansee of George West; one daughter, D’Anna Woodmansee also of George West; one son, Don Woodmansee and wife Jen of Ault, Colo.; one grandson, Caden Woodmansee of Ault, Colo.; aunt and uncle, Wayne and Judy Woodmansee of Seaside, Ore.; and his father- and mother-in-law, Sonny and Mildred James of George West.
Visitation was held on Monday from 5 to 9 p.m. at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in George West. Funeral services were held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church in George West with Bruce Irving officiating. Interment followed at George West Cemetery. Pallbearers were Garland Burney, Neal McCarn, Jack Meyer, Charlie Stroleny, Mitchell Pawlik, Carlos Riojas and Macy Ledbetter.

Mr. Black
Marvin Leonard Black, 86, of Conroe died on Monday, Sept. 4, 2006.
Mr. Black was born on Jan. 24, 1920, in Hallsville. He graduated from Hallsville High School and attended Tarleton State College. During World War II he served three years with the U.S. Navy Seabees and was present at the Normandy landings. He and his wife of 64 years ran a country grocery store in Tuleta for 40 years before retiring in 1991. He resided near Riverside for 13 years, where he was an active member of Riverside United Methodist Church, before moving to Conroe.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marcia Black, in April 2006.
He is survived by his daughter, Paula Shepherd and husband Bob of Conroe; a son, Marvin Leonard Black Jr. and wife Nell of San Antonio; a sister, Dorothy Spencer of San Antonio; grandchildren, Stacey French and husband Jason of McKinney, Laura Kirkham and husband Matt of The Woodlands, Elizabeth Rosenauer of Fort Worth, and Brooke Rosenauer of San Antonio; and a great-grandson, Benjamin Kirkham.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 1 p.m. at Riverside United Methodist Church in Riverside with Rev. Warren Austin officiating. Interment will follow in Brooke Cemetery in Huntsville.

Estrella C. Figueroa Campbell, 69, of Beeville died on Thursday, Aug. 10, 2006.
She was born on Dec. 10, 1936, in Calbega, Philippines, to Carolina Canas and Agapito Figueroa. She married Percy L. Campbell in Manila on Nov. 1, 1959. She was a Catholic and a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband, Percy L. Campbell Sr. of Beeville; three sons, Edward Alan Campbell and wife Maria of El Paso, John Robert Campbell of Oceanside, Calif., and Percy Lyman Campbell Jr. of Beeville; two daughters, Estrella Marie Morris and husband James of Wichita Falls and Roberta Jean Mount of Corpus Christi; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two brothers, Marcello Figueroa and Agapito Figueroa Jr. of the Philippine Islands; two sisters, Norma Harris of Abita Springs, La., and Susana Relayo of the Philippines; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, Aug. 11, from 5 to 9 p.m. at Angelus Funeral Home. Rosary was recited there at 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 12. Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16, at Lawrenceville City Cemetery in Lawrenceville, Ill. Special music was “In The Garden.”

Mr. Cantu
David Cantu, 56, of Beeville died on Saturday, Sept. 2, 2006, at his residence.
He was born in Beeville on May 14, 1950, to Petra Sanchez and Jose Cantu. He was a retired meter reader.
Mr. Lopez was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Jose Cantu.
Survivors include two daughters, Amy White and Kristin Cantu, both of Lansing, Mich.; one son, David J. Cantu of Lansing, Mich.; two sisters, Gloria Pena of Rochester, Ind., and Yolanda Merlo of Beeville; one brother, Ernest Cantu of Marietta, Ga.; and six grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Monday from 3 to 8 p.m. A private funeral service was held.
Mrs. Fox
Jo-Ann Fox, 61, of Swinney Switch died on Friday, Sept. 1, 2006, at her residence.
She was born Sept. 29, 1944, in Sinton. She was a bookkeeper and receptionist.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard C. Fox; and one son, Archie Leigh Fox.
Survivors include two daughters, Lavonne (Ben) Henicke of George West and Brenda (Shannon) McCabe of Swinney Switch; two step-daughters, Claudia (Odessa) Clark of Weatherford, and Tracey Olson of Corpus Christi; four stepsons, Willard Joe (Kathy) Fox of Florida, Darrel W. (Mary Jane) Fox of Bruni, Clay Fox of Beeville and Jeffrey Fox of Oregon; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held from 3 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Dobie Funeral Home chapel in Mathis. Funeral services were held there Monday at 10 a.m. with Rev. Ray Waugh officiating. Interment followed in Cenizo Hill Cemetery in Mathis.

Carmel Garcia Salazar, 72, of Beeville died on Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2006.
She was born on May 11, 1934, in McMullen County to Lola Losa Garcia and Jose Garcia. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed bingo, crafts, sewing and crocheting.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 14 brothers and sisters; and one son, Carlos Ramirez.
Survivors include her husband, Jose P. Salazar of Beeville; nine children, Juanita “Janie” Slocum of Lansing, Mich., Margaret Weden (Phil) of Amarillo, Larry Banda (Idoe), Enimencio Banda (Lavinia), Diane Hernandez (Mario) and Matthew Banda (Rhonda), all of Portales, N.M., Cindia “Cindy” Gomez and Joel Soliz and David Banda (Debbie), all of Beeville; 30 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was to be held today (Wednesday) from 1 to 9 p.m. at Angelus Funeral Home with rosary to be recited there at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated there at 10 a.m. Thursday with President Richard Ramirez officiating. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Victory Cemetery #2.
Pallbearers will be David Banda, Ian Slocum, Gerald Gomez, Ian Ramirez, Larry Garcia and Joel Soliz. An honorary pallbearer is Johnny Gomez Jr.

Mr. Irby
Vassar Thaddeus “Thad” Irby Jr., 78, of Berclair died on Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2006, in a Beeville hospital.
He was born in San Antonio on Aug. 30, 1928, to Alberta Seymour and Vassar Thaddeus Irby. He was raised in Beeville and graduated from Beeville High School. He attended Texas A&M University and began an independent oil and gas business in San Antonio and the South Texas area. He also was a cattle rancher in Berclair.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Faye Irby of Berclair; stepson, Byron Dermody of Kenedy; sister, Gail Blackmon of Beeville; special nephew, Jason Irby of Riverdale; two grandchildren, Blaine and Brett Dermody of Kenedy; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Memorial services were held at 4 p.m. Friday at the Presbyterian Church in Beeville with Rev. Bill Stockton officiating.
Expressions of sympathy may be made by memorial donations to the American Cancer Society, Victoria Cluster 97, 4401 Lilac, Victoria, TX 77901.

Ms. Cagle
Luvinia Rose “Lulu” Cagle, 39, died on Thursday, Aug. 24, 2006, in Corpus Christi.
She was born on Feb. 3, 1967, in Beeville to Senaida P. Joventino and Hershel Cagle. She graduated from A.C. Jones High School in 1985 and Bee County College in 1989 with an associates degree in law enforcement and police administration. She worked for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice in 1990 and was promoted to sergeant in 1991, then to lieutenant in 1993. She was the facility administrator for the Corpus Christi State School from 2000 until 2005.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Porfirio and Soveida Gamez Perez; and her father.
Survivors include her mother, Senaida P. (Joventino) Garcia; three sisters, Sofie (Lloyd) Escudillo of Corpus Christi, Tammy (Alfredo) Rendon and Dela (Larry) Castillo, both of Beeville; and her friend, Sandy Garza of Corpus Christi.
A prayer service was held at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Treviño Funeral Home with Pastor Salvador Rincon officiating. Burial followed in the Cagle Family Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Gerald Perez, John Flores, Richard Lee Gonzales, Larry Castillo, Alfredo Rendon and Roger Pierce. Honorary pallbearers were Robert Lee Gonzales, Leroy Smith and Randy Perez.
