Moczygemba
Brenda Moczygemba, 45, of Kenedy died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2004. She was a former resident of Live Oak County.
Mrs. Moczygemba was born Aug. 7, 1959, to Herbert Nesloney and Ann (Kopplin) Nesloney in Kenedy. She married Tommy Moczygemba on June 16, 1984, in Karnes City. Mrs. Moczygemba was a Karnes City Junior High School counselor and attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her father, Herbert Nesloney; and brother, Bruce Nesloney.
Survivors include her husband, Tommy Moczygemba of Kenedy; two sons, Billy Bob and Cody Moczygemba of Kenedy; her mother, Ann Nesloney of Kenedy; a sister, Beverly (Freddie) Schauer of Beeville; and a brother, Bert (Gay) Nesloney of Mason.
A rosary was recited at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Friday. The funeral Mass was celebrated Saturday with the Rev. Wojciech Reisch officiating. Burial followed in the Panna Maria Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Warren Kopplin, Rocky Kopplin, Randy Kopplin, Bunky Kopplin, Butch Kopplin, Jimmy Krause, Buster Krause and Gary Wagner.
Honorary pallbearers were her nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to benefit the Moczygemba boys in care of Karnes County National Bank, P.O. Box 98, Karnes City, TX 78118.
Arrangements were under the direction of Eckols Funeral Home Inc. in Kenedy.
Peloquin
Roger L.A. “Pete” Peloquin Jr., 64, died Friday, Oct. 22, 2004, at Audie Murphy V.A. Memorial Hospital in San Antonio.
He was born in Holyoke, Mass., on Jan. 5, 1940, to Roger L.A. Peloquin Sr. and Lillian (Fortier) Labonte. He served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam and was also an Eagle Scout.
He was preceded in death by his father, aunts and uncles.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Mary Peloquin; his mother, Lillian Labonte; children, Pat and Eddie Fulghum, Lillian and Mike Seyer, Roger L.A. Peloquin III, Rick and Lesle, Randy and Frank; his grandchildren, Eddie Ray Fulghum, Leslie Carrasco, Amy, Michael and Lynnette Seyer, and Laura and Katie Peloquin; a great-granddaughter, Alyssa Carrasco; his sisters, Cecile, Annette, Claire and Diane; his brothers, Richard, Robert and Roy; and other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held Monday from 5 to 9 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home in San Antonio. Graveside services took place Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with U.S. Navy military honors.
Pallbearers were Eddie Ray Fulghum, Jeffrey Carrasco, Ernest DeLuna, Billy Halcomb, Norma Jean Stiles and Martin Salazar.
Arrangements were handled through Memorial Funeral Home, San Antonio.
Prewitt
Roger Orion Prewitt, 64, of Kirksville, Mo., died Thursday, Oct. 21, 2004, at the Harry S. Truman Veterans Hospital in Columbia, Mo.
The son of Orion Earl and Ruby Gertrude (Gregory) Prewitt, Mr. Prewitt was born on Aug. 16, 1940, in Beeville. He married Karen Lee Treasure on May 12, 1961, in Bloomfield, Iowa.
Mr. Prewitt was born and raised in Beeville, graduating from A.C. Jones High School in 1959. He entered the U.S. Air Force and served in Vietnam. He later owned and operated The Palace in Keokuk, Iowa, for 20 years before moving to Kirksville, Mo., to make his home.
He enjoyed playing pool and being outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include his father, Orion Prewitt of Beeville; two sons, Todd Alan Prewitt and wife Lisa of Canton, Mo., and Tony Orion Prewitt of Keokuk, Iowa; a daughter, Tessa Elizabeth Prewitt of Kirksville, Mo.; two brothers, Carroll Prewitt and wife Glenda of Houston and Dennis Prewitt of Dallas; three sisters, Patsy Kemper of Orlando, Fla., Beverly Williams and husband Ray of Victoria, and Sandy Daltry and husband Leslie of Victoria; five grandchildren, Kortnie Nicole (Prewitt) Ames, Logan and Brayton Prewitt and Kara and Tyler Prewitt; his brothers and sisters-in-law, and several nieces and nephews.
His mother preceded him in death.
Graveside services with military rites were held Monday at the East Center Cemetery near Kirksville, Mo., with Donnie Waybill officiating.
Pallbearers were his sons and brothers-in-law, Todd and Tony Prewitt, Larry, Bobby, Roger and Randy Treasure and Doyle Dover. Honorary pallbearers were his nephews.

Salge
Willie Mae Shiller Salge, 86, died Sunday, Oct. 24, 2004.
Visitation was held Tuesday from 5 to 9 p.m. at Galloway and Sons chapel. Funeral services were held today (Wednesday) at 10:30 a.m. at the same location with Pastor Tim Thornton officiating. Special music included “In the Sweet By and By,” “How Great Thou Art” and “Amazing Grace.” Burial followed in Skidmore’s Evergreen Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Robert L., Aaron and Ashton Salge, Keith Dunda, Joseph Scott and Chad Stautzenberger.
Mrs. Salge was born on Oct. 30, 1917, in El Campo to William and Mary (Motal) Shiller. She married Hilmar Henry Salge in 1938 in Beeville. She was a Baptist and a homemaker. She had been active in the PTA and the Tuberculosis Association. She loved sewing, cooking and canning.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one granddaughter, Christine Renee Salge.
Survivors include her sons, Robert Salge and wife Debbie of Sinton and Andrew Salge and wife Arleen of Tynan; a daughter, Shirley Ann Dunda of Corpus Christi; a brother, Leroy Shiller and wife Frances of Dallas; eight grandchildren, Aaron, Ashton, Robert, Scott, John, Keith, Sheryl and Kim; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Feliz Presa Peña, 92, died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2004.
She was born in Alice on Nov. 20, 1912. She was a member of St. Ann’s Society, Woodmen of the World, and Catholic Women of the Diocese of Corpus Christi. Prior to her illness she had been the organist at the local Catholic churches. She and her late husband were the original owners of El Zarape Cafe.
Survivors include her children, Bobby (Ella Blanche) Peña of Corpus Christi, Oralia “Laly” (Nick) Cardenas of Beeville and Rosalinda Gallegos of New Braunfels; a sister, Virginia Medina of Beeville; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Peña’s body was to lie in state on Friday from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. and from 5 to 9 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. today (Saturday). Mrs. Peña’s body will lie in state at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Rites of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. by Father Luke.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons, Robert Wayne Peña, David Perez, Ruben Jaime Perez, Gabriel Lagunas, Jerry Romero, Andrew, Orlando and Adrian Ayala and Joseph Perez. Burial will be at Beeville Memorial Park.

W.C. “Bill” Reader, 85, a longtime resident of Runge, died Nov. 23, 2004, in San Antonio.
Mr. Reader was born Aug. 5, 1919, in Kenedy to Annie H. and William T. Reader. He was a graduate of Texas Lutheran College and Southwest Texas Teachers College. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army Intelligence Service. He was an educator and a writer. He served a pivotal role in the development and expansion of the Northeast Independent School System serving as the school superintendent. Mr. Reader ended his educational career at Runge ISD serving as superintendent for more than 15 years. Upon retirement, Mr. Reader began writing and became known to many in Karnes and surrounding counties as “Country Boy.” He shared tales of things long ago and used his pen to give thought on current events in his Country Boy column.
Mr. Reader was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Runge where he served as a past president of the church council, Runge VFW, Kenedy Rotary Club, and past member of the Texas Lutheran University Development Board. Throughout his life, Mr. Reader had a major influence on various community events and organizations.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris W. Reader.
He is survived by one daughter, Elizabeth Ann Richmond, and son-in-law, Chuck Richmond of Beeville; three granddaughters, Jessica, Lauren and Mikala Richmond; and one sister, Ora Wiedemar of San Antonio.
Visitation was scheduled Friday, Nov. 26, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Eckols Funeral Home chapel in Kenedy. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Eckols Funeral Home with the Rev. Harold Sager and the Rev. R.C. Jeanes officiating. Burial will follow at the Kenedy Cemetery.

Bland
Pauline Perry Bland, 87, of Goliad died Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004.
Services were held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Fannin United Methodist Church, with the Rev. R.L. Williams officiating. Burial followed in Goliad’s Sapenter Cemetery.
Mrs. Bland was born on Dec. 14, 1916, to Arthur and Mae Ola (Lott) Perry. She was a homemaker and a Methodist.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Freeman W. Bland, her parents, and a sister, Winona Finley.
Survivors include her daughter, Gloria Polk of Beeville; her son, Freeman E. Bland of Goliad; her sisters, Blanche Bland of Victoria, DeForest Henry of San Antonio, Annabelle Bland of Goliad and Jesstine Lott of Beeville; and her brothers, Otis and Earl Perry of Goliad and Johnny Perry of Houston.
Arrangements were handled through Colonial Funeral Home, Goliad.
Borrego
Olivia Martinez Borrego, 76, died Sunday, Nov. 21, 2004.
Visitation was held Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Angelus Funeral Home chapel, with a rosary at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated today (Wednesday) at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church with Father Luke officiating. Burial will follow at Our Lady of Victory Cemetery No. 2.
Pallbearers will be Mario Muñoz, Ramiro Rodriguez, David Flores, Adan Martinez Jr., Presiliano Martinez and Joe Hector “Boy” Perez. Honorary pallbearers will be Jose Manuel Peña Jr. and Mauro Borrego.
Mrs. Borrego was born in Tynan on Sept. 8, 1928, to Presiliano and Maria (Ruiz) Martinez. She was married to Mauro Borrego, who preceded her in death. She was a member of OLV. She was also preceded in death by her father and two brothers, Guadalupe and Ricardo Martinez.
Survivors include her mother, Maria Ruiz Martinez; her children, Felix René Borrego, Juan Borrego and wife Coleen, Ruben Borrego and wife Diane, and Juanita Peña and husband Jose Manuel; her sisters, Rosa Muñoz, Leonora Gonzales, Maria Bonham, Dora Garza and Celestina Gutierrez, all of Beeville, and Esperanza Ashton of Louisville; a brother, Adan Martinez of Beeville; nine grandchildren; three-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Guevara
Natalio Guevara Sr., 67, died Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004, at his residence.
He was born in Beeville on July 3, 1937, to Ramon and Francisca (Esparza) Guevara. He was a retired mechanic. He graduated from A.C. Jones High School in 1957 and served with the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Librada Guevara, his daughters, Belinda Benavides and Rebecca (Balde) Ochoa, all of Beeville; his sons, Natalio Guevara Jr. of Houston and John Richard Guevara of Beeville; his sisters, Jovita (Alex) Treviño, Susie Guevara and Oralia (Odon) Villasauna, all of Beeville; his brothers, Marcelino (Rosie) Guevara and Frank (Molly) Guevara, both of Beeville, Rick Guevara of Corpus Christi and Victor (Cheryl) Guevara of Portland; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
