DeRusse
Rodolfo P. DeRusse Sr., 71, of Corpus Christi died Sept. 9, 2003.
He was born on Aug. 31, 1932, in Beeville. He was a retired examiner for the U.S. Postal Service. He was also a lay minister for several United Methodist churches.
Mr. DeRusse was preceded in death by his father, Salathiel DeRusse, his mother, Juanita DeRusse, a sister, Alicia Ramirez, and a grandson, Salathiel DeRusse II.
Survivors include his wife, Juanita P. DeRusse; sons, Rudy (Regina) DeRusse Jr., Alfredo DeRusse and Daniel (Elsie) DeRusse; and daughters, Cindy (Pat) DeRusse, Sylvia (Adan) Perez, Sandra (Richard) Schoggins, all of Corpus Christi; a brother, David L. DeRusse of Arkansas; a half-brother, Michael DeRusse of Kansas; a sister, Gloria (Roy) Long of Arkansas; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous relatives.
Visitation was held from 1 to 9 p.m. on Friday at Memorial Funeral Home in Corpus Christi. Funeral services were held Saturday at Kelsey United Methodist Church. Interment followed at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Pallbearers were his grandsons, Robert M. Flores, Alfredo DeRusse Jr., Ricky DeRusse, Aaron DeRusse, Adan Perez Jr. and Danny DeRusse.
Arrangements were handled by Memorial Funeral Home, Corpus Christi.
Gayle
Hazel Watts Gayle, 84, died Sunday, Sept. 14, 2003, in Corpus Christi.
Visitation was held Monday from 5 to 9 p.m. at Galloway and Sons Funeral Home chapel. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Bill Duke officiating.
Burial followed in Glenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers were Glenn Matthews, Nelson Page, Gary LeVrier, John Gayle, Herman Rose and Gary Herod.
Mrs. Gayle was born on Jan. 7, 1919, to Harry Samuel and Iva (Hudgins) Watts in Saratoga. She graduated from Beeville High School in 1935 and from Texas Women’s University in 1939, working on her master’s degree. She served in the U.S. Navy WAVES. She married William Glenn Gayle Jr. in Corpus Christi on Sept. 27, 1946. She resided in Beeville and taught school for 30 years. She was active in the FUMC Women’s Group, the Wesley Study Group, and was a volunteer worker for the American Cancer Society. She was a donor for the Nueces County Blood Bank since 1971.
She ws preceded in death by her parents and her husband who died in 1985.
Survivors include her son, William G. Gayle III and wife Pauline of Tuleta; a daughter, Sarah L. Gayle of Gerton, N.C.; two grandchildren, Paul L. Gayle and wife Tiffany of Bryan and Krystal Gayle Reagan and husband Scott of Norfolk, Va.; one great-grandchild, Mackenzie L. Gayle of Bryan; two aunts, Bethal Ediger and husband Ott of Austin and Mary Frances LeVrier of Daisetta; a brother-in-law, Robert Gayle and wife Helen of Beeville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Humphries
Audrey C. Humphries, 74, died Sunday, Sept. 14, 2003, at her home in Corpus Christi after a short illness.
Having donated her body to medical science, there will be no funeral services. A celebration of her life will be held at First Christian Church in Corpus Christi, 3401 Santa Fe, at 2 p.m. on Saturday. A reception for friends and relatives will follow at the church hall.
Mrs. Humphries was born on Feb. 2, 1929, on the family farm near Odem, to Albert Sr. and Varina (Williams) Luckenbach. She was a graduate of Odem High School and Texas A&I University. She taught fourth and fifth grades at Lexington Elementary School, often instructing her students additionally in plant and bird identification, until her retirement in 1986. She was a longtime member of the Audubon Outdoor Club of Corpus Christi, and was an avid bird watcher.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Robert Warren “Bobby” Humphries, a sister, Varina Dawn (J.C.) Alegnani of Pernitas Point; two brothers, Byron Ward (Rosie) Luckenbach of Houston and Joseph W. (Carolyn) of Silverton.
Survivors include her daughter, Suzanne Humphries Kreisberg of San Antonio; granddaughters, Denise and Elaine of San Antonio; a sister, Barbara (Bill) Sheppard of Port Aransas; a brother, Albert A. (Dorothy) Luckenbach Jr. of Tuleta; two sisters-in-law, Betty and Carolyn; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Audubon Outdoor Club of Corpus Christi, c/o James L. O’Rear, P.O. Box 3352, Corpus Christi, TX 78463-3352, for the benefit of sanctuary programs.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Corpus Christi Mortuary.

Rafaela V. Peña, 77, died Monday, Sept. 15, 2003, at Christus Spohn Hospital Beeville.
Graveside services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at Beeville Memorial Park.
Miss Peña was born on Oct. 31, 1925, in Santa Cruz to Manuel and Bartola (Vasquez) Peña. She resided in Skidmore. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Daniel Peña.
Survivors include her brother, Miguel Peña of Skidmore; two sisters, Feliciana Salazar of Austin and Esther Alaniz of San Diego; and several nieces and nephews.

Schley
Betty K. (Scottie) Schley, 74, of George West died Friday, Sept. 12, 2003.
Mrs. Schley was born on July 17, 1929, in Clovis, N.M., to George and Verda Alice (Evans) Kimbriel. On Feb. 25, 1949, she married Brooks Schley in San Antonio. She was a housewife and a member of the Episcopal faith.
Mrs. Schley is survived by her husband, Brooks Schley of George West; two sons, Brooks M. Schley Jr. of South Africa and Robert M. Schley of Oakland, Calif.; one grandson, Mathieu Schley of Orange Grove; one sister, Emagene Crawford of Portland; and one brother, John Kimbriel of Austin.
Visitation was held Monday at the Galloway & Sons Chapel in George West. The funeral was held Tuesday at the Church of the Good Shepherd Episcopal in George West, with the Rev. Ben Wright officiating. Burial followed in the George West Cemetery. Pallbearers were J.D. Clifton, Dwayne McWilliams, Jerry Robins, Lehman Bennett Jr., Travis Martin and Monte Lyne.

Ginn
Murel Cook Ginn, 93, died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2003.
Visitation was held Friday at 10 a.m. at Galloway and Sons Funeral Home chapel in George West. Funeral services took place that same day at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in George West with the Rev. Bruce Irving officiating. Burial followed in George West Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ellis Nubbin Ginn, Rodney Ginn, Billy Burris, Mark Ginn, John Ginn Jr. and Will Kendall.
Mrs. Ginn was born in Abilene on Dec. 9, 1909, to Jesse and Mable (Walling) Cook. She married Ray Ginn on June 30, 1924, in Plano. She resided in George West and was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Baptist Church there.
She was preceded in death by her husband and a son, John Ginn, who died in 1984.
Survivors include two daughters, Margie Kendall and Mildred James, both of George West; a son, Ray Ginn Jr. of Beeville; 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Shinn
George Allen Shinn, 77, died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2003.
Visitation was held Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Galloway and Sons Funeral Home chapel. Funeral services were held Friday at 10 a.m. at the same location, with the Rev. Jesse Berthold, assisted by the Rev. Leo Oliver, officiating. Special music was provided by organist Ann Oliver and singer Leah Teague, who performed “The Old Rugged Cross.” Private burial followed at the Shinn Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Clyde, Mike and Kenneth Fox, Tom and Tim Thwaites and Jerry Ochoa. Honorary pallbearers were Ted, James and Tom Staples, John Suffel, Brother Leo Oliver, J.C. Byles, R.W. Dirks, Felipe Rodriguez and Leon Chestnut.
Mr. Shinn was born in Santa Rosa, N.M., on Aug. 29, 1926, to B.B. and Dorothy (Suffel) Shinn. He attended Texas A&I and served in the U.S. Army Reserves. He married Lonna Mosely Shinn in Corpus Christi on Dec. 18, 1970. He resided in Tuleta and was a member of the Church of Christ. He was a gas trunkline operator for Duke Energy.
Survivors include his wife, Lonna Shinn of Tuleta; two daughters, Damona Fox of Tuleta and Veadelia Fox of Wichita Falls; a son, George Shinn of Beeville; and four grandchildren.

Amador
Miguel Amador Sr., 49, died Monday, Nov. 24, 2003, in Christus Spohn Hospital Beeville.
Rosary was recited Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Treviño Funeral Home chapel. Funeral Mass was celebrated today (Wednesday) at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church with Father Richard Gonzales officiating. Burial followed in Glenwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Johnny, Paul and David Amador, Gumecindo Barcenas Jr., Robert Lee Rodriguez and Hector Baldillez Sr. Honorary pallbearers were Danny and Valentin Amador.
Mr. Amador was born in Beeville on June 20, 1954, to Valentin Sr. and Rafaela (Rodriguez) Amador. He was a lifelong resident of Beeville and a retired cook. He was a Catholic.
Survivors include his wife, Andrea Martinez Amador; two daughters, Crystal Amador and Christina Martinez; a son, Miguel Amador Jr., all of Beeville; three brothers, Santos Amador of Austin, Pedro Amador of Victoria and Valentin Amador Jr. of Beeville; three sisters, Anita Rodriguez and Ursula Guajardo, both of Beeville, and Otilia Tijerina of Plainview; two granddaughters, December and Aracely Baldillez; and one grandson, Hector Baldillez, all of Beeville.

Nasaria Ochoa Castillo, 84, died Sunday, Nov. 23, 2003, in Christus Spohn Hospital Beeville.
Visitation was held Monday from 5 to 9 p.m. at Angelus Funeral Home chapel. Rosary was recited Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the same location. Funeral Mass was celebrated today (Wednesday) at 2 p.m. at St. James Catholic Church, with Father Balaswamy Pasala officiating. Burial followed in Beeville Memorial Park.
Pallbearers were Daniel Castillo, Mario Cruz, Gene Perez, Paul Castillo II, D.J. Karr and Richard Fuentes.
Mrs. Castillo was born in Pettus on July 28, 1919, to Doroteo and Leonarda (Garza) Ochoa. She married Santiago Castillo on May 2, 1940, in Pettus. She was a member of St. James and a homemaker.
Survivors include five sons, Santiago O. Castillo Jr. and wife Paula of Staples, Doroteo O. Castillo and wife Betty and Domingo O. Castillo and wife Yolanda, all of Beeville, Paul O. Castillo and wife Mary Lou of Seguin and Robert O. Castillo of Stafford; four daughters, Juanita C. Cruz and husband Isidro of Missouri City, Susana Ramon of Beeville, Olga Karr and husband Dan of Aurora, Colo., and Irene Castillo of Corpus Christi; a brother, Sotero Ochoa of San Antonio; 17 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
