Lillie Mae Jancha Naylor, 77, of Beeville died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001.
Visitation will be today (Wednesday) from 6 to 8 p.m. at Galloway & Sons chapel. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church in Beeville with the Rev. Gordon Talk officiating. Organist will be Lucille Kinkler and soloist Ray Barefield. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Skidmore.
Pallbearers will be Randy Matheson, Garry Holubec, Jeff Trial, Jason Trial, David Jancha, Robert Jancha and George Jancha.
Mrs. Naylor was born Dec. 14, 1923, in Skidmore to Lillie Sugarek and Frank Jancha. She married James Naylor on Dec. 30, 1950. They had resided in Beeville since 1950.
She was a retired bank teller for State Bank & Trust and had worked for H-E-B Food Store for 36 years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, the American Legion Auxiliary for 25 years and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
She is survived by one son, James E. Naylor Jr., one daughter, Billie Jean Hatley, both of Beeville; two granddaughters, Mary Elizabeth “Betsy” Tankersley and husband Jake of Austin and Melissa E. Hatley of Corpus Christi; one great-grandson, Stuart H. Sanchez of Corpus Christi; one sister, Angelina Trlica of Beeville; two brothers, Frank Jancha of the Olmos community and William Jancha of Buda; and numerous other relatives.

Roberts
John Bryson Roberts, 79, died Monday, Dec. 10, 2001.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church in Beeville, officiated by the Rev. Katherine Riggs.
After the memorial service, the family will receive friends at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church Hall from 5 to 6 p.m.
A private burial will follow.
Mr. Roberts was born Dec. 12, 1921, in Paris, Texas, to Margaret (Ratliff) and Joseph Bryson Roberts. He graduated from Corpus Christi High School and Texas A&M University in 1942. He served with the U.S. Army in World War II.
He married Marjorie McNeill on Sept. 7, 1946, and they resided in Beeville. He was the owner of Roberts & McKenzie Hardware Store and was a rancher. His love of ranching and the land was exceeded only by his love of family. He was an avid golfer, winning several club championships and also was an enthusiastic fisherman.
He was a member of St. Philip’s Episcopal Church.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie McNeill Roberts of Beeville; two daughters, Lisa Tindol and husband J.D. of Beeville and Marji Gray and husband Richard of Beeville and San Antonio; four grandchildren, Justin Coldeway and wife Shannon of San Antonio, Kristen Russel and husband Darren of Beeville, Brice Gray of Houston and Emily Gray of Washington, D.C.; and two great-grandchildren, Hudson Wallace and Peyton Russel of Beeville.

Ruiz
Eloy Ruiz Sr., 77, of George West died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2001.
He was born Feb. 7, 1924, in Cotulla to Antonia (Aguilar) and Macedonion Ruiz. He married Dora Vidaurri Ruiz and was a retired rancher and a member of the Catholic church.
Mr. Ruiz was preceded in death by his parents.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Maria (Sandy) Cantu of Mathis and Rufina (Rodolfo) Ruiz of Three Rivers; two sons, Eloy (Carolina) Ruiz Jr. and Unberto (Gloria) Ruiz, both of George West; a sister, Dolores Aguilar of Houston; a brother, Jose Ruiz of Mathis; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Monday at St. George Catholic Church in George West. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. George Church, with Father Joseph officiating.
Burial followed in St. George Cemetery in George West. Pallbearers were Rodney Cantu, Michael Cantu, Rudy Ruiz Jr., LeRoy Ruiz, Bert Ruiz Jr., Ramiro Ruiz, Mike Villarreal and Tom Hailey. Honorary pallbearers were his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Yarbro
Joe H. Yarbro Jr., 84, died at 10 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, 2001.
Funeral services were held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Galloway & Sons chapel in Three Rivers with the Rev. John Alsbrooks officiating.
Burial followed in the Three Rivers Cemetery. Pallbearers were Larry Goebel, Jeffrey Goebel, Hilbert Kopplin, Don Moore, Dr. Lynn Bluhm and Ruben Guerra.
Mr. Yarbro was born Feb. 17, 1917, in Decaterville, Tenn., to Caralee Fisher and Joe H. Yarbro Sr. He married Mary Louise Bell on Jan. 2, 1938, in Alamo. They had resided in Live Oak County since 1924. He was a rancher and owner of Yarbro Beefmasters. He was a member of the Three Rivers Masonic Lodge for 60 years, past president and charter member of the Live Oak County Beefmasters Association and was named breeder of the year by Beefmaster Breeders Universal.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Louise Yarbro of Three Rivers; one brother, Robert Yarbro of Hereford; two sisters, Elizabeth Hellman of Hereford and Ruth Cates of Centerville, La.; and two brothers, Walter Wyman of Austin and Wiley Wyman of Canton, Ohio.

Garza
Manuel P. Garza, 54, died here on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2001.
Rosary was scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday at the Angelus Funeral Home chapel. A graveside service and burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Beeville Memorial Park, with Deacon Manuel Carranco officiating.
Mr. Garza was born Nov. 4, 1947, in Corpus Christi to Lucinda (Barrera) and Porfiro V. Garza. He married Andrea Salas on Oct. 13, 1967, in Weslaco. He was employed as a carpenter and was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Andrea Garza of Beeville; two sons, Valentine Garza and wife Amy of Fort Worth and Xavier Garza of Beeville; two daughters and their husbands, Valerie and Robert Cantu and Marlys Ann and Jerry Reyna, all of Beeville; a brother, Albino Garza and wife Alicia of Edinburg; five sisters, Lydia Vecchio and husband Joe of San Juan, Anita Gomez and husband Ben of San Antonio and Minerva, Mary Helen and Lucy Garza, all of San Juan; five granddaughters; one grandson; and numerous other relatives.

Irma Olvera, 69, died Monday, Dec. 3, 2001, in Corpus Christi.
Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Angelus Funeral Home chapel. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. James Catholic Church, with Father Joseph Pasala officiating.
Burial followed in Skidmore’s Evergreen Cemetery.
Mrs. Olvera was born Aug. 19, 1932, in Laredo to Candelaria (Guerra) and Encarnacion Garza. She was a homemaker and a member of St. James Catholic Church
Survivors include her husband, George Olvera of Beeville; four sons, Antonio and David Barrientes, both of Orlando, Fla., Salvador Barrientes of Aliso Viejo, Calif., and Felipe Barrientes of Beeville; two daughters, Maria Christina Locklear and Elizabeth Barrientes, both of Orlando; 19 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; her ex-husband, Antonio Barrientes Sr. of Beeville; a stepbrother, Librado Olivo of San Jacinto, Calif.; a brother, Encarnacion Garza Jr. of Beeville; and a sister, Estella Galvan of Beeville.

Turnipseede
Ed Turnipseede, 83, died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2001, in George West.
The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church, with Dr. Jack Green officiating.
Organist Tony Golmon and soloist Doug Burton provided special music, “How Great Thou Art” and “Just a Closer Walk With Thee.”
Burial followed in Beeville Memorial Park. Pallbearers were Al Phillips, Layton Adams, Nubbin Ginn, Glenn Krueger, Dave Blanton, Elsworth Handy, Gary Jones and Vic Barris.
Honorary pallbearers were Tommy Wroten, Bill Golmon, Roy White, Bill Stockton, Bill Green, Harold Reynolds and the deacons of First Baptist Church.
Mr. Turnipseede was born Oct. 4, 1918, in Falls County to Roberta (Beard) and J.D. Turnipseede. He married Evelyn Louise Webster on July 4, 1940, in Marlin. She preceded him in death in October 1983. He married Dorothy Ainsworth here on Jan. 8, 1987.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1942 in Waco and was discharged in 1945 in San Antonio. He attained the rank of sergeant and saw service in World War II.
A resident of Beeville since 1948, he owned Turnipseede’s Beeville Boot Shop and worked for more than 50 years before his retirement. He was a member of the First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for more than 50 years. He served as president of the Bee County Chamber of Commerce in 1960 and was on the Beeville ISD board of trustees for nine years. He was co-chairman of the Western Week Celebration for 25 years and the Bee County Horse Show, serving on numerous committees. He was a Masonic Lodge member, receiving his 50-year pin. He also supported the South Texas Children’s Home for many years by donating money and merchandise from his store. He was honored in 1999 as the Bee County Chamber of Commerce’s citizen of the year.
Survivors include his wife, Dot Turnipseede of Beeville; two sons, Jim Turnipseede and wife Jayne of Cypress and Tom Turnipseede and wife Brenda of Allen; a daughter, Patsy Hickman and husband Charles of Houston; two stepdaughters, Lori Kennedy and husband Jim and Lisa Lopez and husband Felix, all of Beeville; five grandsons, Braxton Hickman and wife Jennifer, Brandon Hickman and wife Amy, and Matthew, Kyle and Brent Turnipseede; two granddaughters, Jennifer and Sarah Turnipseede; a step-grandson, Matthew Kennedy; two step-granddaughters, Kali Kennedy and Ellen Lopez; and three great-grandchildren, Braden, Ashleigh and Branson Hickman.
In addition to his first wife of 43 years, Louise Turnipseede, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Ashley Turnipseede, his parents and four brothers.

Waldrop
Viola Harris Waldrop died on Thursday, Dec. 6, 2001, in Houston.
Born in Ellis County on March 12, 1911, she was the daughter of the late Clay Harris and Nettie Devaughn Harris. Her brothers were the late J.B., Clyde, Calvin, Floyd and Walter Harris, and her sisters were the late Luta Harris Keenom and Lorene Harris Demory, all of the South Texas area. She is survived by her only child, Carol A. Waldrop of Houston, nieces and a nephew.
She married Robert M. Waldrop in 1935 in Beeville and lived in Normanna, Woodsboro and Taft before moving to Houston in 1954. Her husband died in 1983 and is buried in Normanna.
The family cited her niece Jessie May Harris Wallek and husband Edwin, and her niece Ruth G. Brundrett and husband Calvin for their love and devotion to Mrs. Waldrop. Also, they appreciate her dear friend, Maria Gaudin, for her care.
The family will receive friends at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home, Beeville, on Sunday from noon until 2 p.m. The funeral service will be immediately afterward at 2 o’clock in the chapel of Galloway & Sons Funeral Home with burial to follow at San Domingo Cemetery in Normanna.

Cook
Carrie Henrietta Woods Cook, 61, of Comfort died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2001.
A graveside service and burial were held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the George West Cemetery, with the Rev. Bruce Irving officiating.
Mrs. Cook was born Dec. 2, 1939, in Oakville to Carrie Gertrude (Arnold) and Orbie Garland Woods. She married R.F. “Ray” Cook on Oct. 1, 1955, in San Antonio. She had worked as a nursing home aide for 12 years at the Town & Country Manor in Boerne. She was a member of the Baptist church.
She was preceded in death by a son, Orbie Ray Cook.
Survivors include her husband, R.F. “Ray” Cook of Comfort; a daughter and son-in-law, Karen Lee and Mike Stensgaard of San Antonio; a son and daughter-in-law, Ray Garland and Karen Northard Cook of Bulverde; a granddaughter, Jackie Jean Cook and husband Robert Sims of Comfort; and a brother, Orbie Wayne Woods of Vidor.
