Bagwell
Faye L. Bagwell, 74, of Tuleta died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 1999, in a Corpus Christi hospital.
She was born Oct. 11, 1924, in Kenedy to Imogene (Stanley) and Albert Smith Pullin. She married John M. Bagwell on June 23, 1943, in Kenedy. A resident of Tuleta for the past 35 years, she was a housewife and a member of the First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and three brothers, Curtis, Howard and Smitty Pullin.
Survivors include two daughters, Donna Donnell of Choate and Debbie Janak of San Marcos; six sons, Curtis, John and Ricky Bagwell, all of Victoria, Clifford and Clinton Bagwell, both of Tuleta, and Troy Bagwell of Decatur; two sisters, Lucille Koenig of Runge and Margie Osburn of Falfurrias; a brother, Roy Pullin of Kenedy; 19 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous step-great-grandchildren.
The funeral is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at the Eckols Funeral Home chapel in Kenedy, with the Revs. J.W. Stevens and Leo Oliver officiating.
Burial will follow in the Kenedy Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Curtis, John, Ricky, Clifford, Clinton and Troy Bagwell and Gene Donnell. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons.
Memorials may be made to the Pettus senior citizens organization or the Pettus and Tuleta Volunteer Fire Department.
Dodson
Morris Gene Dodson, 57, of Richmond died Thursday, Aug. 19, 1999, in a Houston hospital.
The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at King’s Row Baptist Church in Alvin with the Rev. Jerry Petty officiating.
A graveside service and burial will follow at approximately 4:30 p.m. in San Domingo Cemetery in Normanna.
Mr. Dodson was born July 28, 1942, in Franklin to Morris and Doris Dodson. They preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Lou Dodson of Richmond; children, Ila Jaton Parker and husband David of Wallis and Ian Jeffrey Dodson and wife Sonia of Rosharon; stepchildren, Jeremy Allen Stevens and wife Jean, Jamie Lealynn Stevens and Justin James Stevens, all of Beeville; a sister, Linda Ann Dodson of Houston; and a brother, Robert Wayne Dodson and wife Sandy of Madisonville.
Arrangements are under the direction of Oak Park Funeral Home in Alvin.
Hernandez
Funeral services are pending at Treviño Funeral Home for Jose L. “Choré” Hernandez, 68, of Mathis. He died Thursday, Aug. 19, 1999.
Mr. Hernandez was born April 1, 1931, in Pawnee to Desidoro and Antonia (Longoria) Hernandez. He was employed as a laborer and was a member of the Baptist church.
Survivors include a son, Abraham Hernandez; four sisters, Ramona Hernandez, Maria H. Treviño, Benancia Hernandez and Jesusita Campos and husband Valentin; and one grandchild, Gabriella Hernandez, all of Mathis.
Schanen
Vernon J. Schanen, 73, died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 1999, in a Corpus Christi hospital.
Rosary was scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday at the Galloway & Sons chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, with Fathers Patrick Donohoe and Henry Heese officiating.
Burial will follow in Beeville Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be William Jr. and Scott Causey, Jimmy Schanen, John Gawlik, T.J. Schanen and Vernon Roschetzky. Honorary pallbearers will be Joseph, Mark and Jason Majek, Larry and Greg Nemec, Lonnie, Billy and Leslie Roschetzky, Gil Schanen, Rick Nuñez, Wes Bolton and Rolando Rodriguez.
Mr. Schanen was born Dec. 1, 1925, in Violet to Agnes (Ranley) and John Schanen. He married Mary Lorene Roschetzky on Aug. 18, 1948, in Corpus Christi. He was preceded in death by his wife on July 24, 1998, and a brother, Gilbert Schanen.
Mr. Schanen served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was retired from the Texas Department of Transportation and was engaged in farming. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
Survivors include three sons, Vernon John Schanen Jr. of Corpus Christi and Jimmy Schanen and Charlie Schanen and wife Debbie, all of Beeville; three daughters, Patricia Causey and husband Bill and Judy Gawlik and husband Bob, all of Corpus Christi, and Wanda Mulholland and husband Bob of Beeville; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and his mother-in-law, Mary Roschetzky of Corpus Christi.

Grell
Milton Grell, 68, died Thursday, Oct. 14, 1999, in Beeville.
A graveside service and burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Glenwood Cemetery, with the Rev. Mark Spence officiating.
Mr. Grell was born Aug. 28, 1931, in Hondo to Hilda and Arthur Grell. He married Dottie Bradshaw on May 9, 1980, in Rockport. He was a retired civil service employee.
Survivors include his wife, Dottie Grell; a stepdaughter, Linda Blankenship of Granbury; a stepson, Michael Etheredge of Veracruz, Mexico; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Demory
Stella L. Demory, 90, died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 1999. She was the mother of Betty Rubottom of Mineral.
Mrs. Demory was born Feb. 9, 1909, in Tie to Clay and Nettie Harris. A resident of Aransas Pass since 1928, she was a retired nurse, a Gold Star Mother and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8967 in Port Aransas.
She also is survived by another daughter, Nettie May Mayfield of Aransas Pass; a sister, Viola Waldrop of Stafford; 11 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
A graveside service and burial will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday in the Prairie View Cemetery, with the Rev. George McFarlin officiating.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Charlie Marshall Funeral Homes & Crematory in Aransas Pass.
Hall
Mildred Charlene Harris Hall, 67, died at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 27, 1999, in a Beaumont hospital.
The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Galloway & Sons chapel, with the Rev. Mac Caffey officiating.
Burial will follow in Skidmore’s Evergreen Cemetery.
Mrs. Hall was born May 27, 1932, in San Benito to Naomi Ruth (Andrews) and Earl Benjamin Harris. She married Ralph Douglas Hall on March 13, 1951, in Sinton. She had been a longtime resident of Skidmore before moving to Beaumont recently. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Oct. 4, 1997; a grandson, Rocky Lee Reynolds; and a brother, Earl Harris.
Survivors include a daughter, Candy Newell and husband Bobby of Kenedy; a son, Rusty Hall of Nome; two grandchildren, Desiree Amber Hall of Nacogdoches and Dallas Lee Hall of Nome; a brother, Jimmy Harris of Mt. Belvieu; and a sister, Margie Mosel of San Antonio.

Hogan
Beeville Independent School District Superintendent Dr. Frank R. Hogan, 50, died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 1999, in Beeville.
Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Seaside Memorial Park Funeral Home chapel in Corpus Christi. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 3 p.m. Friday at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church there.
Burial followed in Seaside Memorial Park.
Dr. Hogan was born Nov. 30, 1947, in Hirson, France, to Harry Thomas and Christiane Elise Hogan. He attended Southern Connecticut State University where he received a bachelor of science degree in elementary education and a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction. He later obtained a mid-management certification from Trinity University in San Antonio and doctorate at Texas A&M University.
He began his career in education in 1971 as a teacher. He had taught on the elementary, junior high, university undergraduate and graduate levels, and had served as a community school director, principal, director of staff development, assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction and superintendent of schools. He came to Beeville as superintendent three years ago from West Oso ISD, where he also served in that capacity.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Survivors include his wife, Cheryl Hogan; three children, Lauren and Katelyn Hogan and Bradley Hajek, all of Corpus Christi; his mother, Christiane Hogan of New Haven, Conn.; a sister, Christiane Coady of Wallingford, Conn.; and two brothers, Jean-Paul Hogan of West Haven, Conn., and Patrick Hogan of Shaliman, Fla.

Ortloff
Former Beeville resident William F. “Bill” Ortloff of Midland died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 1999, at his home there.
He was born in Dadeville, Mo., to Ernest and Verna Ortloff. He married Margaret Hames in Tonkawa, Okla., in 1943 and also enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps that year. He served as a B-17 pilot in the Eighth Air Force, completing 35 missions over Europe during World War II. He resigned from active duty in 1946 and returned to Oklahoma State University, completing his degree in mechanical engineering in 1948.
He was employed by Standard Oil and Gas Co. (now Amoco), serving in various capacities and locations, including Beeville. He left here in 1962 after resigning his position of area superintendent and moved to Midland where he joined a consulting firm in forming the Ortloff Corp., an engineering construction company. After later acquiring other firms, the company formed Elcor Corp. in 1964. He served on the board of directors and in senior management positions with Elcor and its subsidiaries until he retired in 1989. He continued to serve as a consultant until 1995, but stayed on as a member of the board of directors.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Ortloff; a daughter, Cindy Olson and husband Jim; a son, Thomas W. Ortloff and wife, Bay, all of Midland; four grandchildren; and three brothers.
The funeral was held at 4 p.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church in Midland, with the Rev. Lane Boyd officiating. Burial followed there in Resthaven Memorial Park, under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home.

Alvarez
Mrs. Albertina “Tina” Ochoa Alvarez, 59, died at 6:20 p.m. Thursday, May 4, 2000, at her home in George West, following a short illness.
Rosary was recited at 6 p.m. Sunday at St. George Catholic Church in George West. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. George, with Monsignor John Killeen officiating. Mariachi Amistad provided special music.
Burial followed in the George West Cemetery. Pallbearers were Carlos Morón, Juan Paiz, Juan Ricky Garza, Luz Garza Jr., Benjamin Garza and Leo Alvarez.
Mrs. Alvarez was born June 8, 1940, in Pettus to Genaro and Emeteria (Salinas) Ochoa. She was employed as a teacher’s aide with the George West ISD and was a member of the Catholic church.
Survivors include her husband, Noe Alvarez of George West; a daughter, Belinda Treviño and husband Roberto of Laredo; a son, Phillip Alvarez and wife Rhonda of George West; and three sisters, Carrie Garza and husband Luz, Mary Garza and husband Juan and Teodora “Lola” Paiz, all of Beeville; and five grandchildren.
