HERBERT SHIPP
Herbert E. Shipp, 84, of Interlachen, Fla., died Wednesday, March 3, 2004, in Stark, Fla.
Mr. Shipp was born Aug. 12, 1919, in Texarkana, Ark. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Billy T. Norton Post, Bronze Star recipient and a World War II Army veteran. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Elizabeth "Betty" Shipp; and three sons, Gary Emmitt Shipp, Ricky Dewayne Shipp and Jim Reed.
Survivors include three sons, H. Paul Shipp of Interlachen, Mark Reed of Monticello, Ind., and Bill Reed of Westchester, Ohio; two daughters, Patricia Lieb of Spring Hill, Fla., and Beverly Mudford of Fouke, Ark.; one brother, Sam Fisher of Texarkana; 24 grandchildren; and 45 great - grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in Macedonia Cemetery. Burial will be under direction of East Funeral Home, Downtown.
Visitation will be 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the VFW.
CALVIN WOODS
Calvin Woods, 37, of Broken Bow, Okla., died Thursday, March 4, 2004, in Broken Bow.
Mr. Woods was born Sept. 15, 1966, in Florence, Ariz. He was a Jehovah's Witness.
Survivors include one son, Tevin Jordan Woods of Broken Bow; his parents, Elijah Woods and Versia Woods of DeKalb, Texas; eight brothers, William Woods and Steven Woods of DeKalb, Anthony Woods and John Hurd of Oklahoma City, Okla., Alvin Woods and Wayne Woods of Broken Bow, Harold Woods of Los Angeles and Donald Woods of Rialto, Calif.; and six sisters, Tammie Woods and Eva Hill of Texarkana, Sharon Woods of DeKalb, Ruby Patterson and Shirley Woods of New Boston, Texas, and Wotha Woods of Los Angeles.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in Beaver Dam Cemetery. Burial will be under direction of Haynes Mortuary.
Visitation will be 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
GEARY FOSTER
DeKALB, Texas - Geary Lee Foster, 59, of the Siloam community died Saturday, March 6, 2004, at his home.
Mr. Foster was born July 12, 1944, in DeKalb. He was retired from Day and Zimmerman, a member of DeKalb First Baptist Church and an Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Lyn Foster of Siloam; one son, Neil Foster of Siloam; two daughters, Joelle Foster Franklin of Dallas and Amanda Taylor of Alba, Texas; his parents, John L. and Polly Foster of Simms, Texas; two brothers, David Foster of Simms and Johnny Ray Foster of Dallas; two sisters, Judy Stueve of Hot Springs, Ark., and Janet Lyon of Simms; and a number of other relatives.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in Wards Creek Cemetery with the Rev. John Watts officiating. Burial will be under direction of Bates - Rolf Funeral Home.
Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
GLADYS THORNTON
Gladys Story Thornton, 91, died Thursday, March 4, 2004, in a Shreveport, La., hospital.
Mrs. Thornton was born June 17, 1912, in Magnolia, Ark. She was president of the stewardess board of Women's Missionary Society, Sunday school teacher, vacation bible school teacher and a member of Walker Chapel CME Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Thornton; and one daughter, Aundra Thornton.
Survivors include two sons, Charles Thornton and Vance Thornton of Texarkana; three daughters, Tanya Greenberry of West Helena, Ark., Cheryl Fletcher of Houston and Jackie Wagner of Keithville, La.; two sisters, Jeweldine Hamdani of Decatur, Ga., and Annise DeCree of Los Angeles; two brothers, Philip V. Story and Benny H. Story Jr. of Los Angeles; six grandchildren; two great - grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Walker Chapel CME Church with the Rev. Johnny L. Stuart officiating. Entombment will be in Chapelwood Memorial Mausoleum under direction of Lyles Funeral Home.
Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
FRANCES NUTT
Frances Nutt, 75, of Texarkana, Texas, died Saturday, March 6, 2004, in a local hospital.
Mrs. Nutt was born Nov. 19, 1928, in Bradley, Ark. She was retired from Red River Army Depot. She was preceded in death by one son, Ronnie Smith.
Survivors include her husband, James D. Nutt of Texarkana; three sons, Charles Smith of Mabelvale, Ark., and Richard Smith and Stephen Smith of Texarkana; three daughters, June Haney of Texarkana, Jean Adkins of Bristol, Tenn., and Deborah Nutt of Texarkana; 17 grandchildren; 11 great - grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in East Memorial Gardens. Burial will be under direction of East Funeral Home, Downtown.

DAMON DAVIS JR.
Damon Allen Davis Jr., 89, of Houston died Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2004, at his home.
Mr. Davis was born Nov. 1, 1915, in Fort Worth, Texas. He was a chemical engineer and a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers and American Chemical Society. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Ford Davis.
Survivors include one son and daughter - in - law, James Allen and Phyllis Davis; one sister; two brothers; two grandchildren, James A. Davis Jr. and Lisa Gentile; and four great - grandchildren, James A. Davis III, Brad Davis, Lauren Gentile and Kristin Gentile.
Burial was in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Genoa, Ark., under direction of East Funeral Home, Downtown.

NAPLES, Texas - Margie Abston Lee, 80, of Bryans Mill, Texas, died Saturday, March 6, 2004, in Texarkana.
Mrs. Lee was born Dec. 8, 1923, in Bryans Mill. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.D. "Buddy" Lee.
Survivors include one daughter and son - in - law, Pat and Ryan Mathews of Texarkana; one sister, Mary Abston of Bryans Mill; one brother, Prentice Abston of Bryans Mill; one grandson and granddaughter - in - law, Chris and Malisa Mathews of Texarkana; one granddaughter and grandson - in - law, Jennifer and Nathan Post of Fayetteville, Ark.; one great - granddaughter, Marisa Mathews of Texarkana; and one nephew, Bill Abston of Texarkana.

Ms. Gardner was born April 13, 1961, in Cass County, Texas. She was a member of First Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include her mother, Barbara Gardner of Queen City; two brothers and one sister - in - law, Elbert Tony Gardner of Ida, La., and Boyd Dale and Joni Gardner of Prarieland, Texas; and a number of other relatives.

Mr. Allen was born Jan. 23, 1934, in Daingerfield. He was retired from Lone Star Steel and an Army veteran. He was preceded in death by one son, Tracy Allen.
Survivors include one son, Eddie Allen of Daingerfield; four brothers and sisters - in - law, W.O. and Mozelle Allen of Avinger, Texas, and Lonzie and Laura Allen, Bob and Sherry Allen and Mark and Roxie Allen of Daingerfield; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Strand was born July 17, 1959, in Fort Worth, Texas. She was a cattle and horse rancher and a member of American Legion Auxiliary Post 488, New Boston, Texas, and Maranatha Christian Center.
Survivors include her husband, Hank Strand of Paradise, Texas; one son and daughter - in - law, Jimmy and Michelle Strand of Stuttgart, Germany; her parents, Sherry and James Ramsey and Bill and Joann Wisdom of DeKalb; one sister, Melody James of Atlanta, Ga.; two brothers, Benny Wisdom of DeKalb and Johnny Wisdom of Fort Worth, Texas; and a number of nieces and nephews.

OCEANSIDE, Calif. - Jean Mitchell Newbold, 90, of San Marcos, Calif., and Waterford, Conn., died Wednesday, March 3, 2004.
Mrs. Newbold was born Dec. 7, 1913, in New York City. She was a teacher, Scout leader and a member of Oradell Women's Club, Hackensack Golf Club, Old Lyme Country Club and First Church of Christ Scientist.
Survivors include her husband, Hayden W. Newbold Jr. of San Marcos; three children, David Newbold of San Diego, Robin Newbold of Maui, Hawaii, and Marilyn Hill of Paxton, Mass.; one sister, Lynn Rinek of Essex, Conn.; and one grandchild, Anna Newbold of Melbourne, Australia.
A memorial service will be held in Lake San Marcos, Calif., under direction of Oceanside Funeral Home. Burial arrangements are pending with East Funeral Home, Downtown.
