Javier Nepthali Ortega
HARLINGEN — Javier Nepthali Ortega, 18, born May 6, 1986 entered into eternal rest. He was a lifetime resident of Harlingen and attended Harlingen High School. He enjoyed weight lifting and fishing.
He is survived by his parents Moises Ortega of Primera and Isabel A. Ortega of Harlingen. Paternal grandparents: Isaias and Florentina Ortega of Primera. Maternal grandmother: Ofelia Alvarado of Houston. Sister: Karina Ortega and brother: Alan Crunk both of Harlingen. Also numerous aunts and uncles.
Visitation will be held Monday April 4, 2005 from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Chapel services will be held Tuesday April 5, 2005 at 10 am with Pastor Alfredo Huerta at the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow to Heavenly Grace Cemetery under the direction of Trinity at Harrison Funeral Home 1002 E. Harrison Harlingen, TX.
Julia M. Peña
WESLACO, TX — Julia M. Peña, 82, went to be with the Lord on Sunday morning, April 3, 2005 at Laredo Medical Center.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Rev. Josue I. Peña; parents, Jesus and Michaela Martinez of Monterrey; father–in–law, Victorino Peña; mother–in–law, Carolina Peña; and brothers–in–law, Teofilo, Horacio, and Efrain Peña.
Survivors include sister, Maria de la Luz Cruz; and brother, Guadalupe Martinez of Monterrey, N.L., Mexico; sister–in–law, Maria P. Cavazos (Fortunato); brother-in-law, Samuel (Esther) Peña; and other sisters-in-law, Elva Peña (Horacio) and Adelfina Peña (Efrain).
In her youth, Mrs. Julia M. Peña served the Lords as a missionary and children‘s minister.
Visitation was held on April 5, 2005 at 5:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be officiated by Rev. Joel Garcia, on Wednesday, April 6, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at Templo Elim Asambleas de Dios in Weslaco. Interment will follow at the Heavenly Grace Memorial Park.

Aurora Flores Salinas
HARLINGEN, TX — Aurora Flores Salinas, 77, passed away on Monday, April 4, 2005, at Valley Baptist Medical Center.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Julio Salinas; two daughters, Herlinda Salazar and Mary Perales; one grandson, Ruben Salinas; and one sister, Perta Flores; two brothers, Ricardo and Manuel Flores.
Aurora is survived by her five children, Delia (Robert) Salinas Leal of Harlingen, Julio Salinas of Kennedy, Texas, David (Josie) Salinas of Harlingen, Texas, Ninfa Colvin of Harlingen, Jesse Salinas of Kennedy, Texas. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters, Jose Aurelia Flores of Combes, Juan Elvira Flores of Harlingen, Antonia Flores of Harlingen, Emma Tovar of Marco, Texas, Dora Gutierrez of Snyder, Texas; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held today Wednesday, April 6, 2005, at Rudy Garza Funeral Home chapel of peace from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a holy rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 7, 2005, departing Rudy Garza Funeral Home chapel of peace at 9:30 a.m. for a 10:00 a.m. mass of Christian burial at Our Lady of The Assumption Catholic Church of Harlingen, Texas. Interment will follow at Ashland Memorial Park.

Richard R. Corkill
LAGRANGE, TX — Richard Reagan Corkill, 51, of LaGrange and formerly of Houston, passed away suddenly, Sunday, April 3, 2005 in the LaGrange hospital.
Richard was born in Jim Wells County, Texas, the son of James Richard and Zula Merle (Connell) Corkill. He graduated from Harlingen High School, attended McMuray College and received his bachelor‘s from Texas State University. Richard was a graduate of South Texas School of Law and moved to LaGrange in 1985 and was a partner in the law firm of Oeltjen, Schovajsa, Klesel & Corkill. He has owned his own law practice in LaGrande since 2000 and was president of the Clear Title Company in LaGrange. He married Carol Anne Hild on May 30, 1998, in LaGrange. He was active in many organizations in LaGrange especially the First Presbyterian Church where he was active in the choir and the worship committee. Other activities included supporter of the Boy Scouts, where he was the advance and local friends of scouting chairman; board member of the Family Crises Center; LaGrange Noon Lions Club; member of Ducks Unlimited, N.R.A. and the Fayette County Gun Club. He was an avid hunter and cook and enjoyed playing tennis.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Corkill of LaGrange; mother, Zula Morehead of Harlingen; 4 children, Stephen Corkill, David Corkill, Shannon Herbrich and husband, James all of LaGrange, Billy Johnston of Anchorage, AK; 1 grandchild, Gus Herbrich; 4 sisters, Martha Rentz and husband, Jim of Spartenberg, SC, Melinda Corkill, Georgia Anderson and husband, Carl all of Harlingen, Gina Stockton and husband, Jim of McAllen; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Joe and Doris Hild of LaGrange; several nieces and nephews and his chocolate lab, Co-Co.
He is preceded in death by his father, James Corkill; and his first wife, Jennifer Corkill in 1993.
Private Graveside services will be held Wednesday morning, April 6, 2005.
Memorial services will be held at 12 noon, Wednesday, April 6, 2005 at the First Presbyterian Church in LaGrange with Dr. Walter Lee officiating.
Memorials may be made to the Family Crises Center or First Presbyterian Church Choir Fund in LaGrange.

Irma C. Gorena
HARLINGEN, TX — Irma C. Gorena, 67, was welcomed into heaven on April 1, 2005, she leaves to cherish her memory an only daughter, Nora Finner, of Combes, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Antonio and Consuelo Caballero; a sister, Rosa Caballero; a brother, Antonio Caballero Jr.
She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren, great- grandchildren and all who loved her.
She was the loving sister of Olga Avalos, of San Benito, TX; Noemi Rodriguez, of Houston, TX and Aaron Caballero of Fresno, Calif.
She is remembered for her sense of humor, her gentle Spirit and her Unconditional love that contributed so much to the lives of everyone who had the good fortune of knowing her. She said, "I am not afraid". "I‘m looking forward to the resurrection".
Irma suffered ill health toward the end of her life but faced this condition with great strength and positive outlook, taking each day as it came and relishing small pleasures. Every morning she woke up with a smile on her face and thanked god for letting her live another day.
Heartfelt appreciation goes to all those who helped in her final days. Special thanks to her dear sister, Olga, who was there through her many illness. To her provider, Mary, who treated her with such love and Tenderness and the Valley Baptist CCU nursing staff, for their excellent care and kindness, and to our family and friends Whose many phone calls kept our spirits up.
A private graveside service was held at the Combes Cemetery on Monday, April 4, 2005.

Mary C. Zepeda
SAN BENITO, TX — Mary Corkill Zepeda, 94, passed away on Tuesday, April 5, 2005. Mary was born on July 22, 1910 in San Benito, Texas.
"Mere" as she was affectionately called was a life long resident of San Benito, a member of a well known pioneer family whose patriarch was her father Judge William Stafford Corkill and whose matriarch was her mother Delfina Rodriguez Corkill.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carlos Zepeda, Sr., an area farmer and rancher.
She is survived by her sister, Lilly Corkill Solis of Florida; her children, Sylvia Cantu (Rolando) of San Antonio, Carlos Zepeda, Jr. (Betty) of Brownsville, and Celina Oliveira (Luis) of San Antonio. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Michael Zepeda, Ricky Zepeda, Paul Zepeda, Debbie Self (David), Laurie La Sarge (Harold), Lisa Sattem (Guss), Laura Oliveira and Lynda Oliveira; and four great-grandchildren, Addison Self, Nicholas Self, Garrett Anthony Sattem and Grace Cathleen Sattem.
There will be a rosary held tonight at 7 p.m. at Henry Thomae Funeral Home Chapel in San Benito.
Church services will be held Thursday, April 7, 2005 at 11 a.m. at St. Benedict‘s Catholic Church in San Benito. Burial will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park.
Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Zepeda, Ricky Zepeda, David Self, Harold La Sarge, Lee Roy Corkill and Guss Sattem. Honorary pallbearers will be Addison Self, Nicholas Self, Garrett Sattem, Paul Zepeda and Eric Corkill.

Teodoro M. Moreno
RAYMONDVILLE, TX — Teodora Martinez Moreno, 82, passed away Monday, April 4, 2005 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen, Texas. She was born November 9, 1922 in Yorktown, Texas to Martin and Luisa (Rodriguez) Martinez.
A rosary will be held Wednesday 7 p.m., April 6th, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
Funeral Service will be held Thursday 10 a.m., April 7th, at Our Lady of Guadalupe. Burial will follow at the Raymondville Memorial Park Cemetery. She will be lying in State at the church Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
Mrs. Moreno was a Bearkat football fan since 1967, she loved gardening, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She lived in Willacy County all her life.
She is preceded in death by her son, Ruben Moreno.
She is survived by her husband, Tiburcio Moreno, Sr. of Raymondville; five sons, Tiburcio (Sylvia), Jr. and Hilario (Linda) Moreno both of Raymondville, Vidal (Velma) Moreno of Edinburg, Juan Jose (Nelda) of Raymondville and Juan Manuel (Nellie) Moreno of Clarksville, KY; four daughters, Diana (Richard) Ramirez of Edinburg, Rosa M. (Rene) Cardoza of Pasco, WA, Darmi (Arturo) Salinas of Raymondville and Janie Moreno of Raymondville; one brother, Martin Martinez of Houston, TX; three sisters, Carolina Moreno and Isabel Vitela both of Raymondville and Luisa Castaneda of Houston, TX. She is also survived by 29 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Ricky, Adrian, Alex, Javier, Eloy Z., Rene, Jr., Rene A. and Richard.

Pio Q. Cantu
LYFORD, TX — Pio Quinto Cantu, 78, passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2005, at Retama Manor Nursing Home in Raymondville, Texas.
Pio was born October 27, 1926 in Lyford, Texas, to Dario and Delfina Cantu. He served in the U.S. Army during W W II.
He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Rudolph (Pito) and Estelita Cantu of Lyford, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held for Pio at Prince of Peace in Lyford on Thursday, April 7, 2005 with visitation from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.
The memorial service will be officiated by Father Dave Jackson at 5 p.m. "If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, Even there Your hand shall lead me, and Your right hand shall hold me." Psalm 139:9-10

Aileen B. Tankersley
HARLINGEN, TX — Aileen Bevins Tankersley, 87, of Harlingen, passed away April 4, 2005. Aileen was born November 4, 1917 in Chandler, Oklahoma. She married Bob Tankersley and they made their home in Mercedes, Texas, where they lived more than thirty years and raised their four children.
Aileen was a member of the First Baptist Church of Harlingen. She had been the manager of the Credit Bureau in Weslaco and McAllen during her working years. Aileen enjoyed teaching Sunday school, cards, painting and crocheting throughout her lifetime.
Aileen was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Tankersley; her eldest son, Ross Tankersley; her parents, Mont and Roxana Bevins; two brothers, Joey and Lawrence; and three sisters, Nell, Pat and Eleanore.
She is survived by two sons, Larry Tankersley of Annapolis, Maryland; Patrick Tankersley of Harlingen; one daughter, Mary Elizabeth (Don) Wright of San Benito; two daughters-in law, Judy Tankersley of Lake Jackson, Texas and Sally Tankersley of Mission; one sister, Ruth VanSandt of Phoenix, Arizona; four granddaughters, three grandsons, one great-granddaughter, four nephews and four nieces.
Visitation will be held at the San Benito Funeral Home Friday, April 8 from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. The family will be present.
A graveside service will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April, 9, at Highland Memorial Park in Weslaco with the Rev. David Reed of St. Alban‘s Episcopal Church officiating.
The family would like to thank the staff at Retama Manor Nursing Center in Harlingen and Odessy Hospice for their care of Mrs. Tankersley.

LOZANO, TX — Consuelo Ortega, 84, passed away at a local hospital Tuesday April 5, 2005.
She is survived by two daughters, Esperanza Arguelles (Israel) of Port Isabel and Gloria Gonzales of Lozano; five sons, Ernesto Ortega, Sr., Celestino Ortega, Jr., (Linda), Uvaldo Ortega (Tina), Ruben Ortega all of Lozano, and Jose Ortega (Hermelinda) of San Benito; two sisters, Maria Elena Luna of Harlingen and Sara Sanchez of Houston; one sister-in-law, Soledad Pesina of Elsa; 24 grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
