SANTA ROSA, TX — Jovita Silguero Loredo, 78, of Santa Rosa, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 10, 2005. Jovita was born on February 16, 1926.
Preceding her in death are her parents, Juan and Felicitas Silguero; brothers, Abraham and Samuel Silguero, and Juanita Garza.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 54 years, Audencio (Blackie) Loredo; four children, Yolanda (Salvador Jr.) Lozano, Noemi Costilla, Noe (Maria Elena), and Reynaldo Loredo; her seven grandchildren, Candy (Johnny Cipriano), Clarissia, and Candelario Costilla, Jr., Rebecca (David Gutierrez), Anika and Michael Lozano and Valerie Ballin; also surviving her are her two great grandchildren, Tyisha Nikol Cipriano and Nathan Ray Gutierrez; brothers, Jose (Bertha), Job (Gloria), Pete (Estella), Aaron (Betty), Juan (Isabel) and Josue Silguero; sisters, Anita (Monce) de la Garza, Felicitas (Santos) Jimenez, and Elizabeth Silguero.
She will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 13, 2005 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will depart at 10 a.m., on Friday, January 14, 2005 for Mass at St. Mary‘s Catholic Church in Sant Rosa. Interment will follow to Santo Nombre Cemetery in Santa Rosa.
Those honored to be pallbearers are Samuel Silguero, Jr., Juan Silguero, Bob Pardue, Javier Silguero, Jose Silguero, Jr., and Eddie de la Garza.
Honorary pallbearers will be her precious two great grandchildren, Tyisha Nikol Cipriano and Nathan Ray Gutierrez.

LOZANO, TX — Juan Manuel Espinoza, 53, entered the Lord‘s heavenly kingdom on Sunday, January 9, 2005 at Valley Baptist Medical Center.
He is survived by his loving mother, Amelia Ruiz of Lozano; a life long companion, Virginia Trejo; his adoring children: two daughters, Lasarita (Antonio) Perez of Dallas, Amelia (Rolando Rodriguez) Villanueva of Dallas; one son, Juan Manuel Espinoza, Jr. of Dallas; two brothers, Noel (Rachael) Rodriguez of Lozano, and Juan Enrique Robles of Houston. He is also survived by two grandchildren, A.J Perez, and Rebecca Villanueva; one niece, Isabella Rodriguez; and one nephew, Noel Rodriguez II.
Visitation will be held today, January 13, 2005, from 3-9 p.m. with a prayer service to be held at 7 p.m., at Trinity Funeral Chapels. Interment will follow to Mont Meta Memorial Park Cemetery in San Benito.
Those honored to be pallbearers will be Antonio Perez, Noel Rodriguez, Juan Enrique Robles, Rolando Rodriguez, Freddy Villanueva, and Roberto Vasquez. Honorary pallbearers will be A.J. Perez, and Noel Rodriguez II.

Luz Y. Martinez
SAN BENITO, TX — Luz Y. Martinez, 94, entered the Lord‘s Kindom on January 11, 2005, at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen, TX.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Matias Martinez.
She was a very devoted, loving, and caring mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be missed dearly by her family and friends. Mrs. Martinez was a member of St. Joseph‘s Catholic Church and an active member of the "Vela Perpetua" for many years.
Luz is survived by her daughters, Jessie Martinez, Delia Martinez, and Hilda (Raul) Gonzales of San Benito; Sons, Guadalupe Y (Lydia) Martinez, Juan Y. (Terry) Martinez and a nephew whom she raised as a son, Frank (Olivia) Ybarra of Chicago, Il; sister-in-Law, Maria Ybarra of Harlingen, Virginia Villarreal, and Manuela Rodriguez of San Benito; grandchildren, Yvette (Keith) Gasca of Brownsville, Raul Antonio Gonzales, Jr., and Cassandra Ann Gonzales of San Benito; great granddaughter, Jasia Victoria Gasca; step grandchildren, Leo (Sandra) Robles of Harlingen, TX, Kirsten Marie Robles and Joshua Gasca; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m., today, Thursday, January 13, 2005, with recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at San Benito Funeral Home.
Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph‘s Catholic Church, 101 West Hwy 77, San Benito, TX at 3:00 p.m., Friday, January 14, 2005, followed by burial at Mont Meta Memorial Park.

Juanita Mireles
HARLINGEN, TX — Juanita Mireles, 66, entered into the Lords heavenly kingdom Wednesday, January 12, 2005, at Valley Baptist Medical Center. She was a very loving mother, sister and grandmother who will be missed by all whose life she touched.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Jose Mireles; mother, Maria Rangel and father, Anastacio Rangel.
Survivors include sons: Juan Mireles, Jose Alberto (Angie) Mireles, Ninfa Munoz (Ramon), Anna Cruz (Ruben), Esmeralda Garcia (Greg), Norma Mireles; 17 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren all of Harlingen; Sisters: Celia Alonzo (Zenon) and Alicia Rangel; Brothers: Manuel Rangel (Paula) of Florida and Tony Rangel (Teresa) of Colorado.
Visitation will be held Friday, January 14, 2005, from 12 to 10 p.m., with a rosary to be held at 7 p.m.
Funeral mass of christian burial will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, January 15, 2005, at Assumption Catholic Church. Burial will follow to Ashland Cemetery.

Concepcion A.Gonzalez
MERCEDES, TX — Connie Alejandro Gonzalez, 46, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2005 in Weslaco after a lengthy illness. Connie was born December 9, 1958 to Abel and Eva Molina Alejandro in Lubbock, Texas.
Connie graduated from Donna High School in 1977, where she was named Indian Sweetheart. She later received a computer science degree from the University of Texas at Austin. She worked as a program saleswoman before owning and operating her branch of Farmers Insurance.
Connie left this world with many beautiful memories, most importantly of her wonderful and loving family. Her greatest pride and joy were her daughters; Santos and Alexandria Gonzalez. She was a consummate beauty pageant mother guiding her daughters to many pageant titles, including Borderfest Queen, Junior Miss Rio Grande Valley, Onion Blossom Queen, Miss Teenage Texas, Miss Texas American Teen, and two 1st runners up to National titles. She was a great philanthropist, most recently helping to raise over $7,000.00 for the RGV Food Bank. She was an active parishioner and volunteer for Sacred Heart Church in Mercedes, Texas and was past president of the Hidalgo County Women‘s Legal Alliance.
Connie‘s family would like to thank: Dr. and Mrs. Ed Caballero, staff and nurses at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Dr. Eugene Choi and Dr. Peter Pisters, all the nurses and staff of the Medical Intensive Care Unit at Knapp Medical Center, including Dr. Abreu and Dr. Ortiz also most importantly the family offers their deepest gratitude to Dr. and Mrs. Gonzalez-Dixon whose assistance, prayers and support will never be forgotten. The family would also like to thank Joe & Christie Trevino, David & Irma Garcia and Debi & Louis Chavez. A special "Thank You" to her sister Justa Trevino who sacrificed everything to share her love and support for her sister.
This world will be a lesser place without Connie‘s warm and radiant smile. Her family and friends will forever love and deeply miss her.

Funeral services will be today, Friday, January 14, 2005. We will depart Rudy Garza Chapel of Peace at 9:30 a.m. for a 10:00 a.m. mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Carlos Zuniga officiating. Interment will then follow at Val Verde Cemetery in Donna, Texas.

Alvaro Valladares
RIO HONDO, TX — Alvaro (Peanut) Valladares, 76, entered the Lord‘s heavenly kingdom on Thursday, January 13, 2005 at his residence in Rio Hondo.
He was born in Villagran Tamp., Mexico, and at the age of eleven he migrated to the United States and lived in the U.S. for sixty-five years where he worked as a farm laborer.
Mr. Valladares is preceded in death by his parents, Antonio Valladares and Josepha Medrano Valladares; also two brothers, Humberto Valladares and Juan Valladares.
He is survived by his loving wife, Adela Reyes Valladares and his twelve children, Josephine (Manuel) Ramos, Alvaro (Brenda) Valladares, Jr., Maria Elena (Abel) Maldonado, Adrian (Diana) Valladares, Estella (Oscar) Cortez, Yolanda (David) Lopez, Eduardo (Socorro) Valladares, Norma (Francisco) Argullin, Jesus (Angelica) Valladares, Tony (Belia) Valladares, Mario (Elsa) Valladares, and Raul Valladares. He is also survived by his sister, Leonor Valladares Mendiola; 22 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held today, January 14, 2005 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. at St. Helen‘s Catholic Church in Rio Hondo. Visitation will continue on Saturday, January 15, 2005 at St. Helen‘s Catholic Church from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2005 with a Mass for Christian Burial at 1 p.m. at St. Helen‘s Catholic Church. Interment will follow to Rio Hondo Community Cemetery.

Pedro " Pepe" Campos, Sr.
PRIMERA, TX — Pedro Campos Sr., 90, passed away Wednesday, January 12, 2005 at his residence surrounded by family.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. He was very well known throughout the valley and never met a stranger he didn‘t like. He was a farmer, water well driller and a jack-of-all-trades. He was a hard working person and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Bertha Campos and children, Elida (Zenon) Moraida, Pedro (Maggie) Campos, Eddie (Lupita) Campos, Maria Campos, Corina (Danny) Meadows and Yolanda Campos. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by several brothers and sisters.
Pallbearers will Carl Lee Tanberg, Danny Meadows, Fidel Mendoza, Israel Taquilas, Zenon Moraida, Fred Gamez, Ismael Cornejo and Lupe Vela.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 14, 2005 from 9 AM to 9 PM with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7 PM at Garza-Elizondo Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2005 at 11 AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church with Father Briseno as celebrant. Internment to follow at Combes Cemetery.

Harlingen — Shirley Ann Jacks, 70 years of age, passed away on Thursday at Valley Baptist Medical Center, Harlingen, Texas, surrounded by friends and family.
Shirley is survived by he loving family, husband, Larry Jacks, son, Michael Barancik of Liberty, Missouri, daughter, Nancy Vasquez, of Lenexa, Kansas, and two grandsons, Mickail Barancik and Adam Vasquez.
She leaves behind many, many friends, too numerous to mention and her family and friends will forever love her and deeply miss her. No funeral service is planned; however, family and friends may call.

SANTA ROSA — Francisco Valdez, 53, passed away Friday at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen.
He is survived by three sons, Francisco Valdez, Jr., Adrian Valdez, and Julian Valdez all of Santa Rosa; three daughters, Cynthia Valdez of Santa Rosa, Mary Jane Gonzalez of Nashville, TN, and Jessica Valdez of Santa Rosa; also surviving are three brothers, Guadalupe Valdez of Lemon Grove, CA, Antonio Valdez of Las Cruces, NM, and Enrique Valdez of Houston; four daughters, Elvira Valdez, Juanita Olivarez both of Harlingen, Cipriana Valdez, and Emilia Cantu both of La Feria and four grandchildren.
Visitation will take place Sunday from 1 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the funeral home chapel. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. A chapel Funeral service will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home chapel, interment will follow at La Capilla Cemetery in Santa Rosa.

Elena Gonzalez Garcia
LYFORD — Elena Gonzalez Garcia, 70, passed away Saturday, January 15, 2005 at her home in Lyford, TX. She was born November 11, 1934 in Hidalgo, Texas to Manuel and Teresa (Tagle) Gonzalez. She has lived in Lyford all her life.
She is survived by her husband, Manuel A. Garcia of Lyford; two daughters, Janie (Wally) Solis of Lyford and Norma (Rudy) Garcia of Lyford; one brother, Ernesto Gonzalez of Raymondville; two sisters, Esperanza Gallegos and Margarita Garza both of Hidalgo, TX. She is survived by four grandchildren, Irma Linda, Anissa and J.D. Solis, Vanessa and Joshua Garcia; two great grandchildren, Gaby Garza and Ryan Ray Rivera.
A rosary will be held Sunday, 7 p.m. at Prince of Peace Church. Funeral service will be held Monday, 2 p.m., January 17, 2005, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Lyford. Burial will follow at the Lyford Evergreen Cemetery.

Harlingen/Winsconsin — Filmore L. Aronson, 86, passed away Friday, January 14, 2005 after a brief illness at Valley Baptist Medical Center. Fil is survived by his loving family. Wife Mebs Aronson, Daughters, Lori Husking (Mike) from Knoxville, TN, Linda Scholler from Milwaukee, Sherry Brisch (Tom), Jaye Sperling (Joel). Sons: Greg and Jeffrey. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
A memorial service will be held Monday January 17, 2005 at 1 p.m. at Trinity at Harrison Funeral Home.
