Harry D. Montgomery
LA FERIA,TX — Harry D. Montgomery, 78 passed away on March 29, 2004 at Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen, Texas. He was born on November 9, 1925 in Linwood, Kansas a son of the late Harrison and Augusta Anderson Montgomery.
Harry graduated from Linwood High School and joined the U.S. Marine Corps following graduation where he served for 3 years during World War II and fought in the South Pacific and was wounded in one of his eyes during combat.
On his return to the States, he was employed at Colgate-Palmolive Company as an electrician for over 36 years and was a member of the Oil, Chemical and Atomic Workers Union Local 5-114 until he retird in 1983.
Harry was a member of the VFW Post 5923 in Camdenton, Missouri, Ararat Shrine Temple in Overland Park, Kansas, and the Masonic Lodge in Linwood, Kansas, Harry made his home in Camdenton, Missouri and La Feria, Texas.
He is survived by his wife: Lora Montgomery of the home, one son: John D. Montgomery, of Glendale, AZ, three grandsons: David Montgomery, Mark Montgomery both of Kansas City, Kansas, Jake Montgomery, of Anaheim, CA, one step-son: David Koening, of Knoxville, TN two sisters: Opal Rollins, of Kansas City, KS and Esther Miller, of Lawrence, KS.
His parents who immigrated to the United States from Sweden and one brother preceded Harry in death: Norman Montgomery.
Funeral services will be held Thursday April 1, at 11:00 a.m. at the Hedges Funeral Home in Camdenton. Burial will be in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to services at the Funeral Home.
Memorials may be given to the American Lung Association.

Evangeline G. Archer
HARLINGEN, TX — Evangeline G. Archer, 91, passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2004. She was born on October 14, 1912 in Princeton, Indiana to Louis E. Greek Jr. and Fannie (Pauley) Greek.
She was the oldest of four children. She married James S. Archer April 12, 1936 in Princeton. They resided in Leavenworth, Kansas for over 20 years and later lived in Chillicothe, Ohio for two years before retiring to Rio Hondo, Texas in 1961.
She was a Devout Christian, and while still able was an active church member. She devoted herself to bible study and daily prayer. She imparted her abiding faith in God and her love to her family who will dearly miss her.
She is preceded in death by: her parents , her husband, two brothers, Von E. Greek and Prentice Greek, and her sister Nancy G. Stover.
She is survived by two sons and their wives, Lewis F. and Rowena Archer of San Antonio, Texas and Robert S, and Linda Archer of Harlingen, Texas; four grandchildren, James Clarence Archer and Elizabeth Jean Turney of San Antonio, David Samuel Archer of Harlingen, and Lisa Catherine Riggs of San Benito, Texas and six great-grandchildren all of Texas.
The family wishes to express their sincere thanks and gratitude to the staff of the Good Samaritan Center of Harlingen for the loving care given her the last years of her life.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 3, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. in the Community Church of Rio Hondo, 122 Maria Mar, in Rio Hondo, Texas.
Graveside service will be held at a later date in the Archer Cemetery in Princeton, Indiana.

Sharon Shanahan Frys
RANCHO VIEJO/HARLINGEN, TX — Rosemarie Sharon Shanahan Frys, 63, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, March 28, 2004, at her home at Rancho Viejo. She was born in Buffalo, New York on June 26,1941, to Joseph and Rose Shanahan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Francis LoCastro and her second husband, Carl Frys. She is survived by three children, Rebecca Corsi of Medford, New Jersey, Thomas LoCastro of Cheektowaga, New York, Dawn Seeler of San Jose, California, and three grandchildren, Ashley Seeler, Amanda Seeler and Madeline Corsi. She is also survived by three sisters, Joann Reeb, Marlene Kramer and Bonnie Shanahan and one brother, Denny Shanahan.
She grew up in Tonawanda, New York, a suburb of the City of Buffalo, in an Irish Catholic environment. Her children were born and raised in Buffalo where she was active in various parochial school activities. A highlight of her life at that time was preparing and serving a meal for Pope John Paul when he visited Buffalo as a Cardinal before he became Pope.
She moved to the Rio Grande Valley in the mid 1980s with her second husband, Carl Frys, who was the manager of Trico Products of Brownsville and has resided since that time in Rancho Viejo.
She was the long time executive secretary to Matt Gorges and served as corporate secretary of Valley International Cold Storage in Harlingen. She was a loyal and trusted associate who exemplified highest professional standards.
She enjoyed live theater appearing on stage in several plays at the Harlingen Performing Arts Theater. She served as coordinator of the fund raising drive to build the Performing Arts Theater located in Lon Hill Park in Harlingen which opened in 1996, and she served on The Theater’s Board of directors for six years. She enjoyed Bible study, reading and her many friends.
Services will be held in Buffalo, New York. Viewing will be Sunday April 4 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Kolano Funeral Home, telephone 716-873-1440, fax 716-875-1769. Funeral services will be held on Monday April 5 at Assumption Catholic Church. There will be a prayer service at 9:00 AM and a mass at 9:30 AM. Local arrangements are under the direction of Trinity Funeral Chapel.

Sybil Mae Wood
LULING, TX — Sybil M. Wood, 81 passed away Sunday, March 21, 2004 surrounded by her loving family.
Sybil was born in Satin, Texas on August 10, 1922 to Chester and Uneeta Campbell.
She was a wonderful beautician, wife, homemaker and Mother. She enjoyed being with her family and friends. She loved watching humming birds and would "break the ice" in the winter for the other birds so they could enjoy the birdbath.
Preceding her in death were her husband of 47 years, P.H. "Buddy" Wood and their son Douglas R. Wood.
Her son, Larry Wood of Austin; daughter, Judy Macek and husband, Steve of Corpus Christi; daughter, Donna Holmes and husband Matt of Bastrop survive Sybil. Grandchildren include Scott Wood, Montreal Canada; Neal Wood, Cedar Park, Texas; Ross and Taylor Macek of Corpus Christi, Texas. Sybil is also survived by her brother, Lester Campbell and wife, Lavonne of Bossier City, La. She had numerous relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, April 6, 2004 at Luling City Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. A celebration of Sybil’s life will follow at City Market Bar B Que on Main Street in Luling at 2:00 p.m.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Charles Mathis, Dr. Jairo Bermudez and Dr. Robert Duran of Central Texas Medical Center in San Marcos, for their kind, respectful and loving care of Sybil and her family. Also, a special thank you goes out to the ICU nurses that cared for Sybil for 13 days. The family so much appreciated Central Texas Medical Center’s Chaplain, Merlin D. Starr for his unselfish support during this difficult time.

Dorne Phillip Ohlemacher
HARLINGEN, TX — Dorne Phillip Ohlemacher ("Ohle"), 86, entered into the eternal Kingdom surrounded by his loving family, Monday, March 29, 2004 at Golden palms in Harlingen, Texas.
He was born in Lakewood, Ohio on April 17, 1917 to Phillip Zerbe and Lorne Ohlemacher.
"Ohle" Ohlemacher spent most of his younger years in Ohio before entering in the Army Air Corps and later the Air Force in 1935 where he enjoyed a 30 year career before retiring in 1965 as a Lieutenant Colonel at Langley Air Force Base. He then yearned for warmer weather and packed up the family of 8 and pointed them south to Harlingen, Texas in 1967."Ohle" however, took the more scenic route and captained his 36’ Pacemaker Cabin Cruiser from Chesapeake Bay, VA, via the Okeechobee Waterway in Florida and Intercostal Waterway to the Sea Island Marina at South Padre Island, Texas.
"Ohle" began his second career with the Harlingen National Bank and then decided that having his own little ranchito on Arroyo Banks Drive was another calling. After his marriage to Bette S. Lyman of Harlingen, they settled down at the Harlingen Country Club.
"Ohle" is survived by wife, Bette, his daughters, Carol P. Shields, Debbie Belli of California, Phyllis D. "P.D." Chapman of Georgetown, TX, Lisa Byrd of Tampa, FL and Lorna J. Ellis of Fort Bragg, NC.; stepchildren include Michael A. Hadley of Wichita, KS, David W. Hadley of Austin, TX, Patricia A. Childress of Florida, Sue Baldwin of Minnesota, Doug Lyman of Kansas, Brad Lyman of California and Brian Lyman of Georgia. Ohle had 20 grandchildren and step-grandchildren.
Visitation hours will be from 12:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. with the family receiving friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Thursday, April 1, 2004 at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home, 1:00 P.M., Friday, April 2, 2004 with the Rev. David Reed officiating.
Interment with Full military Honors conducted by staff from Brooks Air Force Base in San Antonio, Tx will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park Mausoleum in San Benito. A reception will follow at Golden Palms Retirement Center on the 6th floor. Honorary pallbearers will be Julio Gonzales, David Q, Day, and Garland Kristoff.

Lawrence Barnett Jr.
LA FERIA, TX — Lawrence Barnett Jr., 75, passed away Wednesday, March 31, 2004 at his residence with his family and friends.
Lawrence was born March 19, 1929 in Beebe, Arkansas to Lawrence & Bell Barnett Sr. He was in the Carnival business until his retirement in 1980; His family is still in the Carnival business today.
Lawrence is survived by his loving wife, Mertha L. Barnett; daughter, Jeannie L. Maple (Kenneth) of La Feria; grandchildren, Kenneth Maple Jr. (Bessie), Aransas Pass, TX, Johnny Lee Maple (Kim) of La Feria, Susan Jean Wells (Steve) of Hot Springs, Ark.; brother, Lowell Kelley (Reva) of Beebe, Ark.; sisters, Alline Dove of Garland, TX, Betty Sue Sharp of Lakewood, NJ, and Sandra Fry (Joe) of Cabot, Ark.; seven great grandchildren. Also are Ed & Betty Burlingame and family of Galena, KS, and many great friends.
Visitation hours will be held Friday, April 2, 2004 from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with the family present from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Isabella Kennedy
INEZ,TX — Isabella Kennedy, 93, passed away Tuesday, March 30, 2004 at Twin Pines Nursing Home in Victoria, TX.
She was born July 1, 1910 in Cumnok, Scotland to John & Elizabeth (Rankin) Mac Cartney.
Graveside service will be held Saturday 2:00 p.m., April 3rd, at the Raymondville Memorial Park Cemetery with James Schendel officiating.
She is survived by her four nieces, Grace and Rena Dukes both of England, Beth Lindeberg of Bastrop, TX and JoAnn Crenshaw of Inez, TX; two nephews, H.R. (Bill) Calvin of Raymondville and Willie Kennedy of England.
She is also survived by numerous great-nieces and nephews and numerous great-great-nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her daughter, Betty; her husband, James Kennedy; parents, John and Elizabeth MacCartney; one brother and 2 sisters.

Raquel D. Juarez
SAN BENITO, TX — Raquel D. Juarez, 54, passed away Thursday, April 1, 2004 at Valley Baptist Medical Center. She was born in Brownsville, Texas and lived in San Benito, Texas for most of her lifetime.
She was a devoted housewife and was a member of Faith Harvest Pavilion Church in Harlingen.
Mrs. Juarez had a hunger of serving God and going to church. A prayer Intercessor, loving, giving and always received everyone with open arms. She fought till the end and never gave up.
A friend to everyone in need. Considerate of others always she never came first, others came before her. She is survived by her husband: Guadalupe A. Juarez, daughters: Cynthia D. Juarez , Theresa R. Juarez, grandsons: Isaiah Juarez, Richard A, Cheshire, Jr., Anthony Juarez, Christian Cordero Garcia, granddaughter: Alice Rachel Juarez, twin sister: Elvira De Los Santos, brothers: Reynaldo De Los Santos, Helibaldo De Los Santos and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at San Benito Funeral Home Chapel.
Services will be Saturday, April 3, 2004 at 10:00a.m at San Benito Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rene Hinojosa officiating the services. Interment will follow at Anaquitas Cemetery.

Stanley Reimann
SANTA ROSA, TX — Stanley Reimann, 84, passed away on Tuesday, March 30, 2004 at Harlingen Medical Center. Stanley was born in Belvidere, IL on December 5, 1919 to Theresa Schebke and Edward Reimann. He attended Tri-State College in Angola, IN where he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. Stanley married Germaine Walker on January 12, 1945 in Belvidere, TX.
He is survived by his son, Dennis (Debby) Reimann of Round Mountain, TX; grandson, John Reimann of San Antonio, TX; brother, Robert Reimann of Belvidere, IL; his brother-in-law, Jim (Diana) Walker of Harlingen; three nieces and one nephew. Also surviving are his dear friends, Angie and Noe Moraida of La Feria, TX and Erasmo Garza and Chet Flint both of Santa Rosa, TX.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 3, 2004 from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home. Chapel service will be on Saturday, April 3, 2004 at 3 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home with Rev. David Mann officiating. Interment will be held at a later date at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, TX. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Harlingen Humane Society.
