SAN ANGELO — Josephine Gongora, 81, of Brownwood, formerly of San Angelo, died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2007, in a Brownwood hospital.
Rosary will be at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23, in Johnson’s Funeral Home chapel. Mass will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Quirino Cornejo officiating. Burial will follow in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Gongora was born Dec. 15, 1925, in Pharr, Texas, to Jesus and Liborio Guerra Aguilar. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Josephine was preceded in death by her husband, Pascual Gongora; a son, Juan Manuel Gongora; two brothers, Manuel and Alfonso Aguilar; and a sister, Connie Reyna.
Survivors include four daughters , Alma Lydia Tamayo of Turlock, Calif., Mary Alice Garcia of Holland, Mich., Connie Bergara of San Angelo, and Diane Lutz of Apache Junction, Ariz.; three sons, Pascual Jr. of Giddings, Texas, Joe Gongora of Lake Brownwood and Tony Gongora of Brownwood; two brothers, Jesus Aguilar Jr. of Lubbock and Liborio of Seagraves; two sisters, Lupe Gongora of Seattle and Gloria Ruiz of Slaton; 41 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

SAN ANGELO — On Monday, Nov. 19, 2007, the Lord opened His arms and welcomed home his son, Albert Edward Janca Sr., 85, of Grape Creek.
A celebration of his life, with a Mass of the Resurrection, will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 23, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rowena, Texas. Burial will immediately foll o w i n Rowena Cemetery. Grandsons will be pallbearers. Services are under direction of Shaffer Funeral Home.
Albert was born in Rowena, Texas, on May 7, 1922. He attended Rowena schools. In 1944 he joined the United States Army as an infantryman and served his country during World War II in Saipan, Okinawa, and Iwo Jima. Albert served his country for a second time during the Korean War. He married Frieda Leona Sturm on Dec. 30, 1946. Since their marriage, they have resided in Rowena, Tennyson, Vancourt, Mereta, and the last 35 years in Grape Creek, Texas. Albert had been farming for the last 60 years until his recent illness. He was a 35-year member of St. Therese Catholic Church in Carlsbad and a lifetime member of the VFW and the Knights of Columbus.
Albert was preceded in death by his parents, Edd and Helen (Mazur) Janca; great-grandson Christopher Allen Janca; and his brother, Eddie Janca.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Frieda; their son, Albert Edward Janca Jr., and his wife, Karen, of San Angelo; daughters Joan Marie Hartung and husband Bill of San Angelo, and Ruth Ann Strube and husband Thomas of Big Lake, Texas; grandsons Allen Janca and wife Carmen, Kevin Janca, Heath Hartung and wife Melinda, Justin Cantrell and wife DeAnn, Beau Strube and wife Kendra, and Cody Strube; granddaughters Kristi Janca Lewis and husband Dave, Angie Janca King and husband Brian, Jodi Cantrell Werner and husband John, Christy Wooten, Jaime Cantrell, April Strube Blouin and husband Jean, Jennifer Strube O’Neill and husband Doug, and Tara Strube Graves and husband Charles; and 23 great-grandchildren. Other survivors include former son-in-law Clyde Cantrell; sisters Stella Laza, Mary Davis, Olga Kissinger and husband Wayne, Helen Clark, Viola Counts and husband Dennis, Lillie Kuhns and husband Fred, and Regina Goetz and husband Clarence; brother Joe Janca and wife Pat; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in memory of Albert to Hospice of San Angelo, 36 E. Twohig, Suite 1100, San Angelo, TX 76903; St. Therese Catholic Church of Carlsbad; or the charity of choice.

SAN ANGELO – Doris Jean Johnson, 68, died Saturday, April 7, 2001, in a local hospital. Graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens with arrangements by Johnson’s Funeral Home.
Survivors include her husband, Walter J. Johnson of San Angelo; children, Shirley Dunn of Lakeland, Fla., Walter Johnson of Junction, Larry Johnson of Hereford, and David Johnson of Amarillo; brother, Wendell Horsely of Irvington, Ken.; and sisters, Mary Miller and Faye Nix, both of Irvington, Jo Ann Drane of Garfield, Ken., and Maxine Harned of Hardinsburg, Ken.
