Robert E. Stanford
LUBBOCK, TX — Graveside services for Robert "Bob" E. Stanford, 77, of Lubbock was held 10 a.m., Saturday, June 14, 2003 at Resthaven Memorial Park with Rev. Jimmy Nunn officiating.
Services were under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home of Lubbock.
Robert died in Lubbock on June 11, 2003. He was born May 17, 1926.
He entered into the United States Marines at 16 with the permission of his parents and served in the Pacific during World War II and volunteered to storm the Beach of Iwo Jima. He then graduated from Texas Tech University with an Electrical Engineering degree in 1950. He married Thelma Garner and she preceded him in death in 1995.
He started to work for Nunn Electrical Supply Company on January 2, 1959 as a road salesman; he then later became the branch manager in Lubbock.
Later in his career with Nunn Electric he became the General Manager of the Supply Division and was responsible for the opening of branches in Alamogordo and in Abilene.
Due to him having the high working standards and morals he was promoted to Vice President of Nunn Electric and retired with the position of Executive CEO – Advisory.
He was a member of Oakwood United Methodist Church. Numerous nieces and nephews survive him.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials may be made to the Oakwood United Methodist Church.
The family received friends at the funeral home from 6 to 7 p.m.
Jesus H. Jaramillo Sr.
RIO HONDO, TX — Jesus H. Jaramillo Sr., 70, passed away at Harlingen Medical Center on June 19, 2003.
Mr. Jaramillo Sr. was a lifetime resident of Rio Hondo, Texas and member of St. Helen’s Catholic Church.
He was known for his farming and agriculture work in the Rio Hondo area.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Josefina E. Jaramillo of Rio Hondo, TX; 1 daughter, Carmen Drake of San Antonio, TX; 5 sons, Jesus Jaramillo Jr. of Brownsville, TX, Jose Luis Jaramillo Sr. of Edinburg, TX, Ernesto Jaramillo of Rio Hondo, TX, Jose Antonio Jaramillo Sr. of Rio Hondo, TX, and Roberto Jaramillo of Rio Hondo, TX; 16 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter, Zoey ; brother, Juan Jaramillo of La Feria; and sister, Maria Figueroa of Rio Hondo, TX.
He was preceded in death by his son, Gerardo Jaramillo; and grandson, Marco Antonio Jaramillo.
Visitation was held 12 noon to 9 p.m., Sunday, June 22, 2003 with a Rosary at 7 p.m. at the Thomae Garza Funeral Chapel.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, June 23, 2003 at St. Helen’s Catholic Church in Rio Hondo, TX. Interment will follow to Mont Meta Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Jose Luis Jaramillo Sr., Jose Luis Jaramillo Jr., Marcos Jaramillo, Alfonso Jaramillo, Christopher Jaramillo, Ruben Hernandez Jr., Ernesto Jaramillo, and Jose Antonio Jaramillo.

George Luis Flores
SAN BENITO, TX — Funeral services for George Luis Flores, 39, who passedaway to be with our Lord on Saturday, June 21, 2003 will be officiated today, Tuesday, June 24, 2003 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Burial will follow to Mont Meta Memorial Park.
There was a rosary recited at the chapel of Thomae Funeral Home on Monday, June 23, 2003 at 7 p.m.
Goerge Luis Flores is survived by his mother, Elia P. Flores; his daughter, Kimberly Flores; and his son, George Flores Jr.
He is also survived by two sisters, Dora (Teodoro) Corona and Janie Flores; and four brothers, Cesar (Velma) Flores, Edwin (Alice) Flores, Javier (Elsa) Flores, and Robert (Gracie) Flores; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father, Alfonso Flores; and brother, Gerardo Flores.
Pallbearers will be Cesar, Edwin, Javier, Robert, Michael, and Vito.

Anna Duplease
LA FERIA, TX — Anna Duplease, 92, passed away June 20, 2003 at the McAllen Medical Hospital.
Mrs. Duplease was born in Colorado and grew up in Santa Rosa. She attended South West Texas State University in San Marcos and graduated from Fitchburg State Teachers College in MA. She taught in New England for 20 years. She also taught in Santa Rosa and La Feria from where she retired.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Duplease; and daughter, Georgia Marie Couture.
She survived by her children, Selina Duplease, George Duplease, Wilhelmina Duplease, Sarah Guzman, William Duplease, Adeline Mygott; sixteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held, today, (June 24, 2003) from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the Rudy Garza Palms Chapel of Peace.
The funeral procession will depart the Rudy Garza Funeral Chapel at 10:30 a.m. for an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian burial at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, in La Feria. Interment will follow at the Restlawn Memorial Cemetery in La Feria, Texas.

Dolorez A. Perez
LA FERIA, TX — Dolorez Alvarado Perez passed away June 7, 2003.
She is survived by two daughters, Mary (John) Galvan and Angelica P. (Jose Juan Jr.) Baldivia; three sons, Bobby (Jackie) Gonzales, George (Alice) Perez, Sr., and Alex (Diana) Perez, Sr.
Visitation was held from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m., Sunday, June 8, 2003 at Memory Gardens Funeral Home Chapel, with a Rosary held at 6 p.m.
Funeral Mass was held at 1 p.m., Monday, June 9, 2003 at Memory Gardens Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed to Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Loretta "Reta" Broxton
HARLINGEN, TX — Loretta "Reta" Broxton, 87, born on June 15, 1916 in Ardmore, Oklahoma, went to the Lord on June 19, 2003. Reta loved to sing old gospel songs and if she didn’t know the words she would just clap and hum. We know she is in the Lords house now.
She is survived by two daughters, Mary and Zoie; eight grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
Visitation hours will be held Tuesday, June 24, 2003 from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 25, 2003 a 10 a.m. at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend David Mann officiating. Burial will follow in Combes Memorial Park.

Yolanda Ramirez
SAN BENITO, TX — Yolanda G. Ramirez entered into rest on Tuesday, June 24, 2003 at her residence after a lengthy battle with cancer.
She was a longtime resident of San Benito.
Yolanda was born in Corpus Christi to Alfredo A. and Anastacia P. Garcia.
She was married to T.O. Ramirez for 42 years. Yolanda lived her life the best way she knew how to the fullest.
She was a longtime public service employee, advocate for the needy and a leader in community political affairs.
Yolanda was presented with the first-ever "City of San Benito Excellence Award" with an attached official city pin. She spent her life helping others and touched so many people by giving of herself.
Yolanda was a loving mother and grandmother. She loved all her children in her own way. She was loved by many and will live in our hearts forever. Yolanda will be missed but not forgotten.
The Ramirez family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Todd Shenkenberg and staff, Sandi Jo Funk Hospice, all her friends and neighbors for all their prayers and thoughts at their time of need.
A special thanks to her sister, Mila Salinas for always being there for her and her children.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Trifon O. Ramirez; grandson, Armando Ramirez Jr., and her parents, Judge Afredo A. Garcia and Anastacia P. Garcia.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 25, 2003 at San Benito Funeral Home from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2003 at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church at 10 a.m. with Father Clement Onwunata, C.S.S.P officiating. Interment to follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park.

Juan F. Garcia
DONNA, TX — Juan F. Garcia passed away surrounded by his wife and children Sunday, June 22, 2003 in Houston. He was a husband, father, grandfather, journalist, mentor and friend.
Juan is survived by his wife, Sherian and their children: daughter, Gina (Joe) Foreman of Donna, son, John Hadman of Orlando, Florida, daughter, Marie Angelique Hadman of Meadow Grove, Nebraska, son, Charles Hadman of Donna, son, Joaquin Garcia of Donna and daughter, Carmen Garcia of Houston; six grandchildren, Angel (Helio) Martinez, Stephanie Talbert, Crystal Talbert, Douglas Talbert, Felicia Hadman and Heaven Garcia. "Not bad for an only child from Donna," Juan liked to say.
He was born in Donna in 1953. His parents were migrant workers and he worked the fields along side them. After finishing high school, he entered Pan Am University and earned a degree in Communications. He began his career in broadcast news as a Photographer at KRGV Channel 5 in Weslaco, Texas. During his long journalism career he freelanced as a Field Producer for national news networks on stories from the Valley and Mexico. Later, Juan served as Producer, Assignments Editor and News Director for KGBT Channel 4 in Harlingen. He left Channel 4 in 1996 to take on the News Director position at Univision’s KXLN in Houston, the position he maintained until his passing. The impact Juan’s life had on those who knew him cannot be measured or summed up in the length of an obituary. A huge void is left with his passing for those who loved him and admired him. His presence is strong as those who remain behind gather to remember a wonderful man.
Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, June 26, 2003 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. with 7 p.m rosary service.
Funeral services will be held at St. Joseph’s in Donna on Friday, June 27, 2003 at 10 a.m. followed by internment at Donna City Cemetery.

Maria Reyna Cruz
HARLINGEN, TX — Maria Reyna Cruz , 75, was called by God on Wednesday, June 25, 2003. She joins her parents, Antonio and Petra Reyna; her sons, Josue and Mike Jr. and most recently her brother, Loreto Reyna.
Mrs. Cruz is survived by her beloved husband of 61 years, Miguel D. Cruz; children, Ruth (Israel ) Torres, Hector (Angie) Cruz, Elizabeth (Al) Morris, Killeen, Texas, Joel (Patty) Cruz, Israel (Sylvia) Cruz, Corina (Jerry) Panuelas, Irma (Mike) Cappriccuolo, Bedford, Texas, Jaime (Diana) Cruz, and Javier (Mary) Cruz; brothers, Jose Reyna, Antonio Reyna; and sister, Maria De La Luz Reyna. She is also survived by brothers-in-law, Rev. Elias (Celia) Cruz, Rev. David (Olivia) Cruz, Gudberto Cruz, Samuel (Maria) Cruz; and sister-in-law, Rev. Noemi Gonzalez.
She is proceeded in death by her sisters, Catalina Mendez, Vita Camarrillo, Santos Camarrillo; and brother, Loreto Reyna.
Her family will remember her as a loving and giving grandmother to 18 grandchildren and great grandmother to 16 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Cruz was born in the mountain community of San Juan Bautista, Nuevo Leon, Mexico on April 22, 1928. After helping her parents for years, she married her husband Miguel D. Cruz in July 7th, 1942. Mrs. Cruz would have celebrated her 61st wedding anniversary in two weeks.
Mrs. Cruz dedicated all her life and love to her family by providing a loving home through her hard work and commitment. She was employed as a seamstress with Beall’s Department Stores for 30 years and her talent created wedding gowns and women’s clothing for many years.
Mrs. Cruz’s love of God blessed her as a dedicated member of her church and through her hard work helped raise up the Good News Assembly of God Church pastored by Rev. Samuel Rodriguez.
Later, with the same dedication to God, she provided ministry and helped to raise up Templo Bethel Asamblea De Dios in Mercedes, Texas pastored by her husband, Rev. Miguel D. Cruz.
She was very active with the church construction fund raising as a long time active member of the Women’s and Missionary Ministries.
She continued her dedication to God by attending bible school and obtaining her Ministerial Certificate.
Mrs. Cruz will be lovingly remembered as a hard working mother and wife with a generous giving heart to her children, church and her community.
Visitation will be held today, June 26, 2003 from 1 p.m. until 9 p.m. and Friday, June 27, 2003 from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. with a prayer service to be held both evenings at 7 p.m. at the Rudy Garza Chapel of Peace in Harlingen.
The funeral will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2003 at 10 a.m. at the Rudy Garza Chapel of Peace in Harlingen.
Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Hector Cruz, Joel Cruz, Israel Cruz, Jaime Cruz, Javier Cruz, and Israel Torres.
