M. Aileen Mills
HARLINGEN, TX — M. Aileen Mills, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed away Wednesday, June 16, 2004 at her residence.
Aileen was retired from Dow Chemical having been an Administrative Assistant. She was very active with the Girls Scouts of America; she was a Swimming Instructor for the American Red Cross; member of the First Christian Church; member of the Red Hat Society; and Valley Square Dancing Club. She and her husband enjoyed making Jewelry.
Aileen is survived by her sons, Darryll Mills of North Augusta, SC and Kevin Mills of Denver, CO; daughter, Sheila Brehob of Cincinnati, OH; five grandchildren; and sisters, Joyce Snowball and Jean Mabbitt both of Brownsburg, IND.
Visitation hours will be held Friday, June 18, 2004 from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with the family present from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 19, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at Buck Achcraft Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Mark Coppins officiating. Burial will take place in Brownsburg, Indiana at a later date.
For those desiring to do so memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

RAYMONDVILLE, TX — Oreta Currier, 86, was born March 21, 1918 at Washington, Oklahoma to Andrew C. and Eula (Pyle) Bristol and passed away at Valley Baptist Medical Center Wednesday, June 16, 2004.
Oreta was preceded in death by her husband, William Earl Currier and is survived by three sons, Quinton Currier of La Feria, Dwight of Houston and Dwayne of Louisiana; one sister, Eula Almareive Bristol of El Paso; 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Friday 2 p.m. at the Church of Christ in Raymondville with Burial to follow at the Raymondville Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Duddlesten Funeral Home, Raymondville. 956-689-2151
Jacinto "Chinto" Hernandez
SAN BENITO, TX — Jacinto "Chinto" Hernandez, 89, entered into rest on Monday, June 14, 2004 at his residence. Mr. Hernandez was born on August 16, 1914 in Jaral de Berros, Mexico to Mariano and Apolinar Ramires Hernandez.
He was a lifelong resident of San Benito. Chinto was a Catholic War Veteran Member of Post 1109 and a Second World War Veteran.
Gary M. Brown
HARLINGEN, TX — Gary Michael Brown passed away unexpectedly early Sunday morning June 27, 2004.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Sylvia Brown; daughters, Jennifer (Patrick) Alsup of Aviano, Italy, Shawna (Brandon) Blair of Harlingen; son, Derek Brown of Harlingen; and mother, Jean Brown of Harlingen.
He is also survived by a sister, Renee (Sam) Greenfeld of Harlingen; a brother, Doug Brown of Houston; grandchildren, Andrew and Devin Alsup; along with numerous nephews and nieces.
Gary was born June 5, 1956 in Harlingen and graduated from Harlingen High School.
Nina Lilyan McWhorter
EDINBURG, TX — Our Lord sent out an invitation for an angel and our mother accepted that invitation on June 20, 2004 at 8:35 am in a Hurst Nursing Center. She was a Godly woman who was faithful to the Lord.
She was born March 14, 1913 in McKinney, Texas to John O. and Florence B. Duncan. At age 5, she moved with her parents and sisters to Santa Maria, Texas. She graduated from Mercedes High School. She moved to Edinburg with her parents and sisters where she attended college. She met William Ray McWhorter and after a six week court ship they married on January 1, 1932.
She was a retired Federal Employee, and member of the First Christian Church of Edinburg. She was one of the original organizers and first past president of the Edinburg Hospital Auxiliary at the old Grand View Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, sisters and husband, William Ray McWhorter after 51 and a half years of marriage in 1983; a daughter, Dorothy Ray Westbrook in 1989; and a great grandson, David Jackson in 2000.
She is survived by a son, John W. McWhorter (Joanne) of Colleyville, Texas; a son in law, Alex Westbrook of Harlingen; grandsons, Charles Mark Westbrook (Susan) of Greensboro, NC and John Corey McWhorter (Missy) of Harlingen, Texas; granddaughters, Nancy Fletcher of Harlingen and Loretta Ann Schoononer (Ronnie) of Colleyville, Texas; eight great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter.
Her wishes were to be cremated. A memorial graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 30, 2004 at 10 am at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Edinburg, TX with Rev. Jan Trulock of the First Christian Church of Edinburg, TX officiating.
Since she was an avid bird watcher and promoted preserving restoration of local habitat. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be sent to the Nina L. McWhorter Memorial Fund c/o Valley Nature Center - P.O. Box 8125 - Weslaco, Texas 78599.

Barbara "Nini" Rivera
Santa Rosa — Barbara "Nini" Rivera, 49, entered into rest on Thursday, June 24, 2004. Barbara was born on December 4, 1954 to Maria and Jesus Roa. In November 1978, she married a wonderful man, who became husband and father to their two sons and one daughter and best friend for the next 26 years. During her life she worked for Luby’s Cafeteria for 21 years, where she was known as "Barbie". In 1995 she retired after being diagnosed with renal failure. She faithfully attended Watson Wise Dialysis Center for 9 years. There she made friends with numerous patients and staff.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents Jesus and Maria Roa; nephews, Guadalupe Roa, Jr., Saul Villafranco, Jr. and uncle, Roberto Villalobos.
Charlie J. Krause, Jr.
WESLACO — Charles J. Krause, Jr. passed away June 25, 2004 at Village Care Center in McAllen. He was born on September 6, 1927, to the late Charlie J. Krause, Sr. and Mary Hvrda Krause. He was a WWII Army Veteran. He was a retired Postmaster of 18 years, City Commissioner, Volunteer Fire Department and Weslaco School Board.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Diana Margaret, his granddaughter, Jennifer Lynn; sisters, Margaret Ann Krause and Carolyn Campbell.
He is survived by his loving son, Charlie J. Krause, III; grandchildren, Aura and Sean Krause; sisters, Virginia Schwarz, Mary Ann Biggs, Frances Ulmer, Leona Lowe, Irene Kochart, Jo Ann Groebe, Alice Magee and his brothers, Frank Krause, Raymond Krause, and Robert Krause.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 28, 2004 at 5 p.m. at McCaleb Funeral Home Chapel in Weslaco. Officiating the service will be Father Pat Seitz of St. Pius X Catholic Church of Weslaco.

Alice F. Kitts
LOS FRESNOS, TX — Alice Fae Kitts, 65, passed away on Wednesday, June 23, 2004 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen.
She was born December 13, 1938 in Clovis, New Mexico to Lester C. and Novella Grace Mims. Alice was employed by Oden Contracting as an office manager. She enjoyed bowling, fishing, music, reading and spending time with her friends and family.
She is survived by her husband, Clyde E. Kitts of Los Fresnos, TX; children, Tony Kitts of Los Fresnos, Gena Preston of Lubbock, TX and Allen Kitts of Los Fresnos, TX; grandchildren, Shaun and Shelley Preston both of Lubbock, TX and Paul Kitts of Clovis, New Mexico, Heather Wilson Kitts and Derric Kitts of Los Fresnos; sister, Nodie Green of Broomfield, Colorado; brother, Walter Mims of Las Cruces, New Mexico; daughter-in-law, Kori Kitts of Los Fresnos, TX; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 27, 2004 at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home at 2 p.m. with Rev. David Mann officiating.

Carmen M. Cantu
HOUSTON, TX — Carmen M. Cantu, 96, entered into rest on Saturday, June 5, 2004 in Houston, Texas.
Mrs. Cantu formerly of Harlingen, TX is preceded in death by her son, Carlos Cantu (Ramona).
She is survived by two children: daughter, Sylvia Zamarron (Frank) of Houston, TX; and son, Hector Cantu (Candelaria) of Harlingen, TX.
Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren.
A memorial mass will be held Saturday, June 26, 2004 at 11:00 am at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church 412 South C. St. in Harlingen, TX. Interment will follow to Mont Meta Memorial Park Cemetery 26170 State Hwy 345 San Benito, TX under the direction of Trinity Funeral Chapel.
Eusevio B. Lopez
SAN BENITO, TX — Eusevio B. Lopez, 79, passed away at his residence on June 22, 2004.
He was a Lay Minister for many years, since the age of 45, served his community by visiting and praying for the ill, shared the message of Christ with every rosary that he conducted, a member of St. Benedicts Catholic Church, an outstanding father to his children and a strong role model to all who knew him. He was also a Veteran of W.W. II, U.S. Navy and member of the Knights of Columbus.
American Legion Post 205 will conduct military Honors.

PORT ISABEL, TX — Baby, Vicente Ramon Lopez, 3 months of age of Port Isabel, Texas entered into eternal sleep on June 19, 2004 in Houston, Texas.
He was born on March 27, 2004 in Harlingen, Texas, and is survived by the following: parents, Brian and Laura Alcocer Lopez, Port Isabel, TX; maternal grandparents, Maria and Ramon Alcocer, Port Isabel, TX; paternal grandparents, Felipe and Juana Maria Lopez, Port Isabel, TX; great maternal grandparents, Ramon and Juana Alcocer, Sr., Port Isabel, TX; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Pallbeaers will be: Gerardo Lopez, Arnoldo Lopez, Felipe Lopez, and Joseph Alcocer.
Rosalio A. Alvarado
COMBES, TX — Rosalio A. Alvarado, 82, went to be with the Lord on June 21, 2004 at his residence in Combes, TX.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife Angelica Medellin Alvarado and a son Pedro Alvarado.
He is survived by his two sons Arnoldo and Jose G. Alvarado and a daughter Alicia Elissetche; 14 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
He was a member of Templo Betesda in Elsa, Texas.
Funeral Services will be today, June 22, 2004 at 11 a.m. at Mont Meta Restlawn.Cox Funeral Home Chapel in Harlingen, Texas.
Internment will follow at Highland Memorial Park.

Arnaldo Alvarez
HOUSTON/HARLINGEN, TX — Arnaldo (Lalo) Alfredo Alvarez, 61, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 3, 2004. Arnaldo was born August 30, 1942 in Harlingen, Texas. Arnaldo was born and raised in Harlingen and moved to Houston about 30 years ago.
He was in Harlingen to attend his sister’s funeral, Rosemary Villarreal, who had passed away July 1, 2004. He stood by her coffin and kissed her and whispered lovingly how much he loved her and how beautiful she looked, walked back to a pew and collapsed and died of a heart attack. In God’s love and mercy, he permitted Arnaldo to be surrounded by family who loved him and held him as he met with the Lord. All his family from Houston was with him.
"Thy will be done", thank you Lord for allowing us to be near him and hold him in our arms. Only you in you infinite mercy could make this happen.
He is preceded in death by his father, Lazaro Alvarez; his mother, Rosita Alvarez; his sister, Dorita Ledesma, Rosemary Villarreal; his brothers, Roy Lerma, Jose A. Alvarez, Guadalupe (Wale) Alvarez.
Survivors include his wife, Adela Aguilar Alvarez; two sons, Reymundo of California and Arnaldo Alfredo of Houston; three daughters, Olga Leticia, Laura, and Elena, all of Houston; and fourteen grandchildren and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins in Houston and in the Rio Grande Valley; one sister, Olga (Benito) Cañas of Harlingen; one brother, Hector (Sarita) Alvarez of Harlingen; one brother-in-law, but more like a father than a brother-in-law; the family patriarch, Margarito Ledesma.
Services were held Wednesday, July 7, 2004 at Our Lady of Guadalupe followed by burial at the Forrest Lawndale Memorial Gardens in Houston.
